Took a stray kitten in on a Saturday 7/with no appointment. Front office staff person was very accommodating. They fit the kitten into Dr Kendra's schedule. Dr was fantastic, helpful and very personable. I have found my kittens permanent veterinarian and will be returning for all his future shots, treatment, etc. Can't say enough positive things about them. Update. There are barely enough words to say how much my wife and I appreciate everything that Dr. Kendra has done to keep our cats healthy. In addition, there are not enough words to describe the comfort and peace of mind that she gives us when, during our office visits, she assures us that everything is going to be all right. Dr. Kendra has been our veterinarian of choice for many years and during this time she has shown a genuine caring and sincere manner which should be required of all care givers. Dr. Kendra has always treated our cats as if they were her own. She handles them with loving care as she examines them and she listens to our concerns without rushing us. One of our cats has had more than his share of health issues and as Dr. Kendra dealt with these issues she thoughtfully and candidly gave us the various options to make him better but we never felt pressured to accept the more expensive ones. When Dr. Kendra transferred to the Cat Doctor Ventura my wife and I were concerned that the additional distance we would have to travel (40 miles) would probably be a hardship on us and our cats. They refuse to fulfill orders from the largest online pet pharmacy and they give no reasonable excuse as to why not. This was not the case before they opened their own online pharmacy. Their pharmacies prices are higher and it is less convenient than other ones I would rather use. Shame on you guys for trying to force consumers into your anti competitive price gouging store. I have been going to to the Cat Doctor since June of 1998. They always have the best vets that truly understand the mind, body and heart of the cat. I have been seeing Dr. Kendra Decide for many years and she is very knowledgeable and caring to the patient and their owners. One of my guys who only has 3 legs was having trouble walking and she contacted the specialist for me, spoke with him about the case and sent all relevant files. When we went there, the specialist knew the history and recommended nonsurgical treatments that have worked so well that my little guy is now playing again and running all around the house. I work in the medical field and have seen my fair share of doctors. I must say that Dr. Kendra has the best bedside manner I have ever experienced. Memorial Day, I have a cat emergency, my 12 yr cat is not breathing propertly and my 2 small Sons are upset and scared. Dr. Kendra could see i was a wreck, crying, praying and hoping she could help. Im a single mom with 2 boys so i did not have $1000's of dollars to throw out but Mimi and Dr. Kendra did they best they could with what i could afford. My cat came home that Night and sleep with no Pain that Night and a huge sense of relief for all of us. They Offered daily follow ups by phone and meds to help. I see everyone complaining about cost. Before we took our 3 cats to The Cat Doctor for shots and flea control we called around. They were the cheapest. They treated us with respect. Cared and loved our cats and called us EVERY week to check up on them to make sure they are doing Ok. I have never had a vet be so persistent in caring about our kitties. Seems like what a lot of you only care about is the cost to care for your babies. If you can't afford it maybe you shouldn't have pets until you can afford to pay for their medical. You say all they care about is money, so far all I'm reading from you people is about money. Would you complain about you pediatrician like this if your child was sick. These people are awesome. I really feel sorry for your pets if your not willing to go to the extent to make sure they live long healthy lives. And the part where you looked down on the DR because they will get to your pet when there is an available slot. If you had no appointment then it is first come first serve. When we said goodbye to our oldest Bella, the Cat Dr couldn't of been more caring and sensitive to our situation. He was 16 at the time, and had been with my wife since birth. 150% connected in every way. With failing kidneys and a myriad of other problems we knew it was best to put him down. When the time came to make that difficult desicion, they allowed us endless time to spend with him before letting go. They even have a "bereavement" room for you to spend those last moments. I went to the cat doctor in Ventura yesterday. Everything went great until payment. I was over charged and it took two transactions to get refunded the correct amount. The receptionist whom charged my card was very rude and didn't take any accountability for her mistake. She just passed me on to a technician instead of finishing with me. I felt violated and taken advantage of. The vet called and apologized, that was nice but the receptionist is whom owed me that. I was in disbelief as I left the office. Read Less

thank you for the review...I was just about to take my doctor to The Cat Doctor ..something told me they were about money with all of the fancy equipment and having two offices ...they appear nice on the phone but I have been sucked out of a lot of money in the past so I decided to find reviews...I am sure you saved my old cat all the suffering..when I called them they said I could drop him off and when the doctor had time will see my cat and call me with an estimate ..this alone made a few flags go up! is called intuition ...notice how the only one who says something nice about this place is a doctor LOL Dr Holt ...I had a wonderful vet in New York ..but in Ventura I had found nothing but money hungry ones..who do not care about your animal ..when a doctor tells you is necessary to take blood test on a dying 20 yrs old then give you all types of treatments that are not going to help..then lose the tests and asked you to do them again in the meantime you are taking the animal back and forth ...finally the animal dies ..yes that happened to me in Oak View Animal Hospital...the Emergency one in Ventura I saw a young girl bring a cat and was told it was 2000 she was in shocked because she did not have the money ..I told her always always ask for an estimate FIRST!! needless to say they wouldn't give her the cat back until she paid !..I have not found a good vet and when I do I will post it here..in the meantime I use prevention methods to keep my cats healthy..all of my cats have died of old age happily in my arms..the ones I had to take to these scams doctors have been cats that i adopted from someone who was going to have them kill ...and the damage was already there..I use liquid trace minerals ( in their water ) I also give them plenty of exercise..and raw food as much as possible..not too much of the commercial food...for dogs I give them glucosamine for joints..and plenty of LOVE..I do not buy pets vitamins they are another rip off..I give them the trace minerals my family take....yogurt once in awhile is good..try to research the internet ...remember the animal business has become a multi billion dollar one ....just like people..they need your animal sick if everyone kept them healthy they would go out of business.....my vet in New York had a simple office that smell like cat and dog pee..but he and his staff LOVED the animals and charged you very little and if you did not have that he will give you credit...he would tell you about the vets buying expensive equipment and then making you the patient pay of it...he charged little because he wanted everyone to afford to take their pet to the vet ..and he will teach you how to take care of them..for example if your animal needed IV he would show you how to do it ..then tell you to do it at home so that you will not have to pay for boarding ....and if you have more than one he will give you a discount a big one ....I will be happy when I find one like him here in California ..but in the meantime I wills tick to preventing any type of ailment with good nutrition and minerals ..
