For anyone who knows me or reads my reviews, I am the proud dog Mother of Lucy Desiree, AKA Lucy D, Boo Boo, stink butt, and a list of other of other nicknames. I rescued Lucy in 2014 from SPARC in Santa Paula and brought her into my 1 bedroom midtown tri-plex cottage with an abundant amount of ease, being that she was 7 when I adopted her, she was already potty trained, knew basic commands and would only bark if the UPS driver came to the door. So when my next door neighbor called one day at work back in November to tell me that Lucy had not stopped barking and was scratching at the door frantically, I of course asked if I could take a long lunch to check on her, which turned into the entire day, because the other neighbor sleeps days and was not a happy camper to being awoken by a high pitched yapping. From then on it hasn't stopped, when I'm home she's quiet as a mouse, but as soon as I'm headed for the door she begins to bark, she's chewed up by door jam, ruined a set of blinds, and started in on my wood shutters. I've tried numerous things to try and deter it, I'd taken her to the vet I've used for her since the day I got her, and I have nothing against that Veterinary clinic in general, but because it's such a busy clinic, I needed a smaller office, with a more hands on approach and I also needed to a veterinarian that was going to have the time to work one on one with us to get this resolved.Once Dr. Maryann examined Lucy to rule out anything medically wrong with her, she then spoke to me extensively, and I learned that I'm going to be in doggy boot-camp for the next few months as I try to remedy the separation anxiety Lucy has suddenly been plagued with, as well as correcting the issue of Lucy thinking she's the boss of me. She also suggested I get a white noise machine for my neighbor, ha ha. The office is small and has a more intimate feel to it, the front desk staff are pleasant and have a wonderful love of animals, often coming out and petting and playing with our pets to put them at ease. The parking is tight, so I might suggest to park on the street, as to be easier to get out of the parking lot, as if you are parking in the business lot, you will have to back up on Thompson Blvd and unless it's a quiet time of day, you might have quite the wait. I'm so glad my friend friend and neighbor Rob recommended Ventura Veterinary, I actually feel there is light at the end of the tunnel. Read Less
