It was late. Our dog was clearly in pain - very unusual for her - even at her advanced age (don't tell her I said that!). Alas, we are in Sequoia National Park with spotty phone /WiFi service, even if present. I called this clinic about an hour and a half away in hopes of getting treatment. Jeffie couldn't even lift her head. In spite of several dropped calls - unlike another area clinic - they said, "Get her here as fast as you safely can. If you leave now, we can probably get you in." We left right away.
I know a thing or two about health care. Unlike many healthcare facilities, human or animal, professionalism, kindness, and empathy were the focus throughout our visit. Every staff member. I was so upset over the events of the day, I don't even remember the vet's name. But, he treated everyone with respect, explained our treatment options, and considered the unique aspects of our situation (being away from home, with limited access, and a long drive back to our rooms).
I'm very attached to my girl, Jeffie. These people created a very caring environment, including providing directions to a very good nearby restaurant before our long drive back to the Park. The plan of Jeffie's care was just what we felt she needed. While giving us options, the vet said, "I think this is what I would do if she was my dog." Those words brought relief, since it was obvious he cared about OUR Jeffie. We have no idea what is expected for vet services costs in this area. We'd have been willing to pay MUCH MORE for the care they gave us. They gave us the option for more diagnostics, but didn't press us at all to do them, especially since - at this stage - they would alter treatment very little. The cost for service was very fair.
We left this clinic feeling not just satisfied but deeply pleased and grateful for their kindness. Thank you. Mike, Barb, and Mercy (and, of course, Jeffie).Read Less
