I'm not a fan of this place. I was referred here by the place I adopted our dog and tried many times to give it a chance because the veterinarian seemed sincere and it was very close to our house. I really should've listened to my better instincts and just went somewhere else after talking to the front receptionist. The people who answer the phone, make appointments and who are in charge of taking money are the rudest, unpleasant and uncomfortably unprofessional people to deal with. Money is really strange with them as well and it comes across very awkward. I have never written a review before because I hate the idea of hurting people with a review that doesn't go away but hopefully they hear how people are feeling and change for the better. Read Less

Terrible, these people are strictly about money. Talked down to me for not having my pets vaccinations. I already know, you don't have to remind me, I do my best. I work a minimum wage job, and you're trying to charge me over 700 to look at my dogs nose. I make that in two weeks... instead of treating us like this try showing some love and compassion. Terrible people, they are all about the money. They will charge you for anything and everything. I came here because it was conveniently down the street, worst decision. For one, they charge 55 dollars just to see him... expensive. Wanted to charge me over 700 dollars just to check his nose. I make that in two weeks... you're pushing all these expenses on me AFTER talking down to me and my dog. Acting like I've never been to a vet before. You even pulled the fatality card on me to get me to go through with the procedure. I went to their original vet in Hanford, to see him was only 36. Better decision and their so sweet and kind over their and take care of my babies. Remember owners, an animal isn't just an animal and a pet isn't just a pet. This clinic is amazing. First, let me say I am a veterinarian, but an equine veterinarian, not a small animal vet. So when one of my many dogs or cats becomes ill, I take them here. They are extremely knowledgeable and do an amazing job. And they are very reasonably priced. I have referred many people to this clinic and those people have thanked me for doing so as they all had amazing experiences, too. I have had great experiences with all the veterinarians and technicians. I usually work with Dr Shafer, whom I adore. She always impresses me with her skill and exceptional knowledge along with her gentle ways and kind care. My wife and I had been seeing another veterinarian nearby as our primary for our 4 month old Golden Retriever puppy, Nala. Randomly on a Saturday morning, we woke up to see lots of swelling and redness in her eye. The walk-in fee for the pet emergency center was $99, so as a last-ditch effort we called Redwood at 10 am to ask if we could possibly get a walk in appointment. The receptionist we spoke to was very kind and gracious, and really made us feel like she cared about our worry. When we arrived, she was friendly and personable, and Nala got seen within minutes.Like the receptionist, the vet techs were extremely enthusiastic and gentle with Nala, and treated us like concerned parents, rather than uninformed customers.Finally, the veterinarian was also very personable and gentle with Nala, who was over-excited and jumpy. Throughout the entire experience, they informed us of what they were doing and what different possible causes were for the swelling and redness. After only 20 minutes, we left with a conjunctivitis diagnosis, a very affordable prescription eye-drop medication, and a $110 bill, all for a dog who was not in their system, for customers who were not regulars, as a walk-in on a Saturday morning.I am thrilled with the care my pup received at Redwood, and we will be switching them to be Nala's primary vet. I'm here from out of town and due to a family emergency have stayed much longer than I planned. My dog, who traveled here with me, has a very specific prescription diet and we ran out of food. I called Redwood to discuss options and they were very helpful. I went in the next morning (Saturday) and was able to get the food we need and they even had a coupon and a lid for the canned food for us. They were incredibly kind and helpful, which helped reduce my stress level. If I ever need to see a vet here I will definitely take my dog to them. Read Less

Some of the staff here are absolutely amazing. And helped me so much I could never have possibly thanked them enough. My only problem with the clinic is some of the staff firmly believe in neutering. And one was quite rude to me for saying I was waiting until I had a litter of puppies before I neutered my dog to the point that she told me I was a bad owner bad person and that I wouldn't be able to go back if I didn't neuter my dog. We have been taking our pets to Redwood Veterinary Hospital for over 6 years. The staff and doctors especially Dr. Schafer have treated our pets with love and the best professional care we have experienced. One of our Yorkies suffered much with kidney disease and when it was time to make that all important decision they treated Scooter and I with the upmost respect. I came in with my 16 year old dog, Polo, who was very sick. He was deathly ill and had a hard time breathing. The kind doctor said he wasn't going to make it the weekend so the most humane thing to do was to put him down. I held him in my arms during procedure and he wasn't suffering anymore. It devastated me but I couldn't watch him suffer. The staff of this clinic were sensitive and helpful through this tough time. Read Less

Watch out for these crooks!! Just know that when you sign an estimate it means nothing. In fact it's likely to double. When you question the doctor/owner about it she has the nerve to tell you that should've been your "common sense"  REALLY?? Not good. I brought my little dog to this clinic and the Dr refused to see her. The front desk staff asked if she's been seen here before and if she's current on her shots. I told her she's had all her puppy shots but unfortunately she's not up to date. I get it. I understand they don't want anyone to bring in an animal that isn't up to date  but would it make a difference if they weren't under the suspicion that my dog had Parvovirus? The doctors at this clinic I would like to think they went to Veterinary school because they really care about the well being of sick animals. Sadly this isn't the case. They were more concerned about my dog contaminating their office, asking if I had placed my dog on the ground than they were interested in helping me. I have taken our other dog here before and it's a shame that they could easily just turn me away. This clinic is heartless. Pet lovers stay away. If I could give this clinic ZERO star I would!!! We are new patients here and just loved the respect and help we got when we had to transfer our 4 month ACD from emergency with Parvo. Had a terrible experience with redwood veterinary they are so much about the $$$$$ my sweet little cocoa was so sick I couldn't let her suffer so took her here to have her put down they told us $75 and when it was all over they charged $115 said was because the vet hasn't seen cocoa in over a year. So what kind of service is that. But they said were very sorry for your loss. I guess they think that is worth $40 . Just saying I would never go there again. Good luck to all of you that do. I have been going to Redwoord Veterinary for over 10 years now, and they treat my cats and dogs like family. They have helped me manage the health of two cats that had chronic conditions with so much care and concern. We have been bringing our cat here since last year after my sister, a vet tech, referred us here. We've had really good experiences. Unlike some other vets we've been to, they are very straightforward with their pricing and quotes, and there are no hidden fees or anything unexpected that pops up on your bill. We've seen Dr. Fleischer and Dr. Birte and both have been awesome. Since we live and work pretty far from here, the office has been very accommodating. They kept our cat overnight for a procedure and the boarding fee was more than reasonable. I was shocked.After her procedure, my cat was sent home with a very expensive antibiotic. They let us know in advance what the cost was and why she needed it. They also said that when she finished that bottle, to let them know and they can sell us a partial bottle to save us money. What vet says that?They had also ordered some very expensive tests and asked if we wanted to do them. We said we'd need to wait so they suggested giving her meds for now and if she hadn't improved, to run the tests later on. I really appreciate the honesty because other vets we've been to have ordered tests and told us that we HAD to do them, whether we could afford them or not.Anyway, we've been really happy with our experiences so far. No vet is cheap, but their prices are reasonable and their doctors are very caring. We will continue to bring our pets here. Read Less

We recently had to put down our golden retriever. As traumatic as that was, Dr. Shafer made it much easier with her kind and compassionate personality.
