I had a unpleasant experience at a recent appointment and wrote a letter to the vet (Dr. Weiss) and technician who provided the "care", and asked that the information be shared with Dr Bjork (since he's the owner and he's always seemed to be conscientious and professional). Nobody has contacted me about my concerns. I'm very disappointed by how things went at the appointment and by the hospital's lack of caring about me or my pet. I plan to go elsewhere in the future. While my experience was a few years back I see some of the same individuals who worked there that soured my experience. You judge for yourself the following........part time Vet was treating my pet who was very sick. Vet was having difficulty finding vein to draw blood......taking longer than normal exam time..All of the sudden the head vet tech, now appears to be an office manager barged into the room and started screaming at the Vet the waiting room was full and they needed this room right away.....Keep in mind the Vet had a needle in my pets leg looking for a vein. Obviously this flustered as well as embarrassed the Veterinarian Doctor.  There was several issues here to be considered. As much as I loved the part time Vet I could no longer feel comfortable here for the care of my pet.  Total disrespect for the Vet. Made an already tense situation more tense. Completely showed lack of concern for pet in distress. Lousy customer service.  My complaint was completely ignored. I realize there were always be personality conflicts and there is no perfect Vet office. Just as there is no perfect Medical MD office but I guarantee any employee in any other vet practice or medical practice would not have stayed working at that facility in particular for yelling at the Doctor while doing an exam.  I had ran into some  persons afterwards who had left that clinic for same reason the attitude of that particular vet tech and run ins they had with him. There had been a few incidents prior that had concerned me.The last incident was the final straw.I realize as pet owners we treat them as our own children and can become demanding at times when they are sick.   That does not excuse those individuals we have entrusted for our pets care to behave in such an intolerant way.Yes I exploded at the front desk as I left the room while the Vet was still drawing blood as I was furious at this irrational display and disrespect shown to the part time Vet as well as my pet. . There was no apology , no concern for this Vet Tech attitude, in fact they defended him.That defense told me all I needed to know about any future care my pets would receive here.I would hope this attitude and behaviour has changed by now. We've been a long time patient but I just have to give this place a review. Dr. Bjork returned my emergency call on a Saturday and explained the possible reasons my puppy could be vomitting, and also told me what to look out for to make sure it doesn't turn dangerous. It turns out she ate some tall rough grass and that was irritating her throat, making her cough and sometimes vomit.  Dr. Bjork has often diagnosed our issues within 5 minutes of an appointment and always been spot-on. His friendliness, calm demeanor and extensive experience is why we return. We have had a problem with the wait time in the office, with some of our appointments resulting in us waiting 30 minutes or more before getting a room, so the entire visit will take an hour.  This can be an issue as it is stressful for the pet but also has resulted in me being late for other appointments. Whoever reading my review, if you decide to go to Geary Vet, please don't have your furry friend seen by Dr Erica Weiss. Please ask for for Dr. MaryAnn Wicks.It was too late for my baby girl when Dr. Wicks saw her but she knows right away that there was something very wrong with my baby. My wife ask her why Dr. Weiss did not see that when she diagnose Betty first...she said Betty was dehydrated and a fluid therapy is needed... i don't know anything about fluid therapy but speaking with other doctors, they told me that they should have monitored and slowly give it to my baby girl. I have told Dr. Weiss that Betty was drinking water but she said she's dehydrated. If she diagnosed Betty well and told us that she's sick then maybe we can have prolonged her life even for a short time... thank you for reading my review Read Less

We have been taking our beloved dogs to Dr. Bjork at Geary Vet for 20 years! He is the best!! He is so wonderful with our dogs. We took our Monty to him yesterday, fearing that he had seizures. Dr. Bjork examined Monty and found that he had simply hurt his back. Gave Monty a cortisone shot and pils to take home. Monty responded immediately to the treatment and is going great! Been going there for 13 years with various dogs including foster dogs. Yesterday I took my new feral kitten, and Dr Bjork was so awesome at cleaning the ears (ear mites!) And even showed me the mites through the microscope so I can see what was bugging the kitten, and gave me a can of cat food to switch from the kitten milk formula. They're always generous with free samples, and often advise me not to buy something if I can get by with their samples. Also, they never hesitate to send the prescription to Costco so I don't have to pay a lot for the pet med either. Review for Dr. Tillman:Very disappointed and concerned about the care that I received here. My greyhound had a teeth cleaning here and she completely missed signs of dental disease, including inflammation and gum recession. Fast forward 4 months and now he has a hole in his gum! It's his canine tooth so it should have been easy to see, especially considering that he was sedated. Via email, Dr. Tillman acknowledged that there was " inflammation above the root of the tooth 4 months ago... and now there is a hole in the gum, I am really concerned that his canine tooth root may have an abscess."No mention of any issue with the tooth in her notes/record. Her notes were essentially no loose teeth, no signs of pockets.I spoke with her via phone and she agreed that there was redness/inflammation at the time of the cleaning. But, this was not brought to my attention. Why? Apparently because she did not notice it or think it was concerning. Unacceptable. Dr. Tillman had a somewhat casual attitude about the situation and seemed disconnected from the conversation. She waffled back and worth between stating that if they had a dental x-ray machine, she would have taken an x-ray, to later saying "I couldn't have taken an x-ray. He wasn't under anesthesia."  Huh?? How about bringing an issue to my attention and making a professional recommendation?The thing is, I took my dog here because of the anesthesia free option. Turns out, that's not a good way to go anyway. If you are considering a teeth cleaning by Dr Tillman, I would reconsider. Do your research on anesthesia free dental - it's not worth it. You could be putting your pet's health in serious danger. Read Less

I just bought a new maltipoo puppy. I used my Nextdoor app to see what my neighbor's recommendations were and hands down they voted for Dr. Weiss. She was caring, informative and spent a great amount of time with our family answering all our questions and giving us lots of info and samples. I used to love this vet hospital. I have 3 dogs and been going for many years. However, just recently they have decided it would be more beneficial to them to have an overcrowded place to make more money, while making you wait hours, (yes hours!) skimping on services, and even telling you the WRONG diagnosis. I'm very disappointed. We trusted these people with our furry family members lives. So the last few times we dealt with them, we brought our 12 yr old blk lab in for a check up and an issue with her eyes as mucus was coming out of them. First we had to wait over an hour to be seen. Having to wait this long with a pet is disgusting. Should have never happened. They should have informed us of their "translating" issue with a prior non English speaking client 15-20 min after we got there, apologized, rescheduled us and offered a discount for the next appointment! This would have sufficed rather than making it uncomfortable for my sweet old girl and wasting my time. When we were seen, she was checked out and given a ridiculously small ointment tube (25$) that lasted 3 days for her eyes. Also had her stool checked. Needless to say, her eye issue didn't get better, and her stool lab came back normal. A day after I noticed white rice looking worms in her stool, tape worms, great. Called and asked why it didn't show up in lab and they said it can come back inconclusive. Yeah ok. Made another apt for her to get meds for the worms and recheck her eyes and they wouldn't schedule me any sooner than a week and a half later. Wasn't having that. Took her to another vet on a Saturday, didn't have to wait over an hour, and he said she most likely had worms for awhile, her eyes were NORMAL (just use an eye wash, 7 bucks at a pet store) got her a shot and we went on our way. Less expensive, less time wasted, and no unnecessary diagnosis. A week later my 1 year old Maltese got the worms too and called Geary, they said we couldn't come in for over a week too, and I was irritated again cause I wanted him to be seen right away to take care of the worms rather then get my other dog infected as well. I said no, please fax me all my dogs records and we are taking them to another vet. Called other vet, they said since you caught 2nd dog early, get this specific brand deworming meds at pet store (30$) and he will be ok. Got it and now we are worm free. See now why couldn't Geary just tell me to go get a deworming med at pet store instead of making me wait? Wrong diagnosis for my blk lab, and making you wait cause they have too many clients is a tell tale sign they care more about making a buck then they do about your furry family members. So I woke up to find that my cat had dislocated his toe somehow? We always go to Geary Vet in Walnut creek. When I called I was told that they were fully booked for the next few days, but because of the severity of the injury they made the time to see him and set the bone & give him his shots, all while working around my tight work schedule. So now my little meow cat is going insane having to stay indoors for the next month, but at least he's healing properly thanks again for being so unbelievably kind and accommodating, and for treating my cat with such high quality care! I took my big boy Bourbon in to see dr. Bjork a few weeks ago. He was recommended by my co workers and boss all of which work with animals and take their own pets to dr. B. Turned out my boy needed surgery to remove Cancerous lump and dr. B. and the staff were very nice and took very good care of my spoiled mama's boy who can be a handful because he's deaf and very needy. Surprisingly their prices are VERY reasonable! I couldn't believe it. I was very happy with how my boy and I were treated there. They were also very accommodating because I had to have surgery myself so I wanted to make sure to get my boy in and out before my operation so that I was able to take adequate care of him; And they fit us in right away! I also liked that my Bourbon wasn't judged or muzzled because of his breed/size(bulldog/bullmastiff) because he's the biggest baby ever!! We will be back!!Read Less

I've been taking my dog here since we adopted him, which is about 3 years now. We first saw Dr. Bjork. I think he is obviously a very experienced doctor, but I personally feel he is quick to prescribe medications/antibiotics. I also agree that his personality is a bit dry. More recently, we started seeing Dr. Tillman. She is AMAZING! She is actually a holistic veterinarian and she is only there for one week every month. I choose to start seeing her, because I have a greyhound who is very sensitive to anesthesia. I wanted to try having his dentals done with him awake, which most vets won't do. Luckily, my dog is very mellow and Dr. Tillman is able to get his dental done quickly and easily without anesthesia! I also really enjoy her personality and her down to earth nature. Today was a rough day for our baby maltipoo. He had an irritated eye that when from a bit swollen to OMG WTF in 24 hours!I had been trying to find a new vet for my two babies but no luck until we found Geary Veterinary Hospital! First of all the online new client registration form is so convenient but especially this time because I was not able to take my baby to the vet with the hubby. He said from the moment he talked to Jo on the phone he knew this was our new vet office. He said not only was she so caring but so informative and funny.When the hubby and daughter arrived they both said that Jo was just lovely! My daughter was a bit shaken by our maltipoo's eye condition but she said Jo put her at ease and was just so kind.The vet was Dr.Weiss who was thorough and very professional. She cleaned out his eyes and checked his nose and mouth. She asked questions and decided to give my hubby a choice of going to CC eye animal clinic as they are specialist in all things eyes or having them look in. My hubby decided to go with CC eye animal clinic because we have been there before with our other dog and had a great experience. They washed out our dogs eyes and called the clinic and set up an appt with them.They charged us $50.We are looking forward to meeting all the vets and seeing who fits our family best and am very happy to have found this little place. They have taken care of two generations of schnauzers and have provided nothing but professional kind and thorough care for the dogs. I was very disappointed today with this place.   We have been taking our dogs and cats here for years. Today my 4 year old had a Seizure or something. I called in a panic and wanted to bring him in.  I got sorry we are all booked today. Take him to an emergency hospital I took him to four seasons animal hospital.
