I am writing this review because I am taken aback as it pertains to the lack of follow-up service my dog has received. The first time i came to visit this Vet office, I had just bought my chi pup from a rescue adoption agency and I wanted to get her a general health check-up. Also, my pup was experiencing a ear infection and kennel cough-so I expected these two issues to be resolved. The service was average not to mention I was in the office for two hours. Dr. Ervin saw my dog and she did some minor checks of her health (nothing invasive or intense, just by her own understanding) and told me that my pup was healthy. She gave me some medication to help with her cough and insisted that her ear infection would, "just get better on its own, so let it play out." Later on in the week, I noticed that my pup still intensely scratched at her right ear and that she was extremely stressed out and uncomfortable about it. So I called back up to the clinic and explained to them that my pup was still in pain and I needed some medication to help relieve her of that pain (something that should have been done the first time I came to the office, considering I live 20-30 minutes away from Walnut Creek). The front desk receptionist told me to come back in because there was no medication that I could buy outside of their vet clinic. I took time out of my busy schedule and drove back up to the clinic and received an antibiotic for my pup-I was happy to finally be relieving her of this pain, but annoyed at the inconvenience. Kennel cough will eventually play itself off (as I have seen it done before with other people's pets) NOT a ear infection. A month or so later, I noticed that my pup stool was changing colors and that it had blood in it. I immediately became worried and watched her closely for two days to see if it improved (taking her off of her dog food, and feeding her steamed rice and broiled chicken with plenty of water). On Sunday, I noticed no improvement and instantly became worried-so I called up to Vet office and told the gentleman my pups symptoms and asked what could it possibly be or what could be done. The gentlemen stated that she had to come to the office because he could not diagnose over the phone-understandable.The next evening, I took her to the office and she was seen by Dr. Sandhu. Dr. Sandhu asked me questions regarding her symptoms and her health and I explained to him about her stool changing colors, etc. So he stated that he would run some test on her (Parvo test, fecal test) and for me to return in an hour. An hour later, my pup was diagnosed with Parvo. I instant became worried as I had never heard of this disease and did not know how she caught it as we have no other pets living in or around our home. I became researching in the office about the disease (I was not given any pamphlets on this disease) and became aware of how DEADLY this disease was so I started to panic and cry-not accepting the fact that my dog could be dead in a matter of days! He gave her some IV fluids and sent me home with amoxicillin and told me to keep an eye or her and keep her hydrated-he stated that because I caught the disease in its early stages that she could be nursed at home. Well, ever since that night my dog as not shown ANY signs of having PARVO. She's I kept her away from the dog food and have been feeding her health nutrients and she has been better than ever-her stool even returned back to normal. Shes overly energetic, she drinks water all the time through the day on her own, she eats all her food, and she shows NO signs of pain-something opposite of the symptoms of this deadly, deadly disease. My issue here is: If a pup was diagnosed with such a deadly disease, WHY hasn't Dr. Sandhu or anyone called to follow-up to see if she was doing okay or even if she was still ALIVE??? I spent over $200.00 bucks and my time in that office, crying my eyes out at the thought of my dog dropping dead and not ONE clinician from that office called to see if she was okay. Not only will I not return, I will get a second opinion by another Veterinarian.
