I found this place about 7 years ago when I was desperately calling around to see if a doctor would be willing to work on a Saturday to perform emergency surgery and save my pup. The receptionist called Dr. Lee and he agreed to drive back early from his church retreat for a 6 p.m. surgery ON A SATURDAY. We are in Orange County now, but we still make the drive so our sweet dog can see Dr. Lee for check-ups. I am forever grateful. Read Less

Since I live close by in Diamond Bar, I've been bringing my dog here since he was a puppy. A lot of our neighbors use this place because of the proximity to home. I've already had a few bad experiences with this place, but today I am completely fed up. My dog was stung by a bee, and he threw up 3 times after. I was worried that he was having an allergic reaction so I called Companion Animal Hospital to see if Mr. Lee could see him. The guy who answered the phone said come right away. I got there within 5 minutes and sat in the waiting room with 10 other people and like maybe 8 other pets for 30 minutes. The whole time I am freaking out...like my dog might die, this is an emergency, but Dr. Lee was strolling around not doing anything about it. After waiting for 30 minutes, I walked up and left and will never be returning. Read Less

do NOT take your pet to Companion Animal Hospital in Diamond Bar!!! My dog Scooter started to throw up on Wednesday and my mom and I thought he would get better on his own (we now regret the decision of not bringing him into the vet sooner) but on Thursday morning we realized that he was not getting better so we brought him into Dr. Lee. They wanted to run a blood test, IV, and x-ray (we declined the x-ray which we now regret as well) and they wanted to keep him overnight and would notify us of the results on Friday morning. On Friday morning we received a call and on the phone Dr. Lee told us that Scooter had liver failure and asked us to come in as soon as possible. At this point my mom and I began freaking out not knowing what as going on/what would happen. We arrived at the clinic and it took 40 minutes before someone finally told us that Dr. Lee would be with us shortly and another 20 minutes before he actually saw us. That's a whole hour of thinking about the worst case scenarios!!! (Isn't it patient 101 to not freak out your patients or their family until the last second?) He then told us that Scooter had pancreatitis and acute liver failure and needed to be kept overnight again. We were to pick him up at 1230PM the next day (Saturday). When we went to pick him up he said to bring Scooter back on Monday morning (his office just conveniently happened to be closed Saturday 1PM - Monday morning....and he did not refer us to another clinic) We went in Saturday and by the time we finished with paperwork it was already 1245PM. We dropped Scooter off at home and went directly to Walmart to fill out his prescriptions. Walmart told us that out of the 6 prescriptions, two of them were drugs that they did not carry (they were dog meds that a lot of pharmacies don't carry). I then called Costco (1:08PM), CVS (1:11PM) and Jay called Walgreens - all of which gave us the same answer as Walmart before I finally called Dr. Lee's office again (1:15PM). Dr. Lee picked up and after I explained the situation to him he replied "well what do you want me to do? I am already out of the office" I was so stunned by his response I didn't reply and then he said "just come back in on Monday" like excuse me?! My dog needs these medications that YOUR office told me he needed to take that same day and you can't even fill it out? I then called three vet clinics in the area, all of which told me that they couldn't fill outside prescriptions and the only way would be for me to take Scooter in for an examination. (At this point we also called Petsmart and Petco and looked online as well). We ended up not getting those medications and just hoped that he would be fine without them till Monday. Now, I wish this were the end of the story but NOPE. THERE'S STILL MORE. When we picked up Scooter on Saturday his stomach region was extremely swollen (like boy looked like he was pregnant, we would find out later that it is fluids and we are still waiting on the results as to what fluid it is). Scooter refused to take his meds or even eat so we had to force feed him food (this is all Saturday night). I went to bed last night super uneasy and decided that the best course of action was to take Scooter to another clinic to get a second opinion. Cue in today morning, my mom and I took Scooter to the Brea Veterinary Hospital and the vet redid his bloodwork. Turns out that Scooter's RBC and platelet count was extremely low and he needed oxygen and a blood transfusion. She then referred us to the Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital because she said that they need to take a sample of the fluid in his stomach. She also told us that the vet should not have allowed Scooter to go home. I then told her that their clinic closes Sat 1PM - Monday morning and she said that he should've referred us to another clinic that would be able to take care of Scooter. That piece of poop of a vet (please excuse my language) did not give us any warning or recommendation to take Scooter to a different clinic - he just said to bring him back in on Monday morning. Scooter is currently undergoing an ultrasound (we will get the results back in a few hours) and has to stay overnight at the hospital for about 2-3 days (may change based off of his results). I can't imagine the scenario that could've played out had I not decided to stick with my gut feeling and take Scooter in for a second opinion. Please do not take your pets to Dr. Lee at the Companion Animal Hospital!!! Also, if you're not sure about a diagnosis always always go in for a second opinion!! I'm so glad that I did. Read Less

This was the Vet I took my dog to ever since he was 11 weeks old. However, as time passed and my dog got older I decided to branch out to another vet located in Chino Hills (Small Animal Hospital) and when comparing this vet to the one in Chino Hills, this one is by far more of a nuisance than that one, sorry! Dr. Lee is great though. You can genuinely see that he loves all kinds of animals and he has a great knowledge about the animals he takes care of. However, the things that bother me most about this place is the EXTREMELY SLOW SERVICE, the poor ventilation and also the lingering smell of urine. I feel like that if they somehow had better ventilation all the problems of it being too mucky feeling would be eliminated and waiting in the rooms or the waiting area would be less aggravating. I have come here on occasions where there was no one in front me and I was the only one in the waiting room and yet it took them 30 minutes for me to be sent into a room to have Dr. Lee take a look at my dog for less than 5 minutes. I just don't understand why it takes so long even when there is no other patients for me to have my dog looked at. The one thing I do like about this vet however, is the fact that my dog takes a special prescribed medical food and I love how this vet doesn't require Dr. Lee to sign off on the food every single time I need to pick it up like other vets or even Petsmart makes me do. I come here to place my order for his food and that's about it. As for future vet visits I am going to try and keep the visits to a minimum and just go with the other vet I go to. Their service is way quicker, their waiting room is larger and their facility smells and looks clean. Read Less

I love this hospital! Bandit has been coming here for the last 2-3 years and I really couldn't be happier.  Dr. Lee, Amanda, and the rest of the staff are always professional and helpful.  The prices are reasonable and they are honest/upfront with the charges.  Plus they automatically send my bill to VPI for processing.  Also, Dr. Lee provides his cell phone number in case of an emergency.  Who does that?! So awesome!  My dog is a nervous fella so a good vet is very important.  When Bandit had to have surgery and when he had a severe ear infection, they were very patient and nurturing with him and with me.  There have been numerous times that I called in with questions on the medications or maintaining his health during his recovery, every time the office staff is willing to take the time to help me.  I usually get Amanda, who has a wealth of information and she is great at explaining what/why/how with her answers.  They did a great job following up on the status of Bandit's health while he was under their care. It really put me a ease knowing that he was in good hands.  I completely trust them with my little boy. But, more importantly, Bandit trusts them.
