I've visited quite a few LA-area vets over the past nine years and this is the best I've seen by far. Not quite sure how they manage to keep up the high standards. It's almost too good to be true! Took me this long to write this review.  When they first opened I brought my dog there and they diagnosed him with Kidney Failure.  They treated him over the weekend and I was to pick him up on Sunday afternoon if all was well.  The Dr. OK'd the pickup and my son wentto get my dog -- but they announced the dog had choked on a piece of food or something and he had pneumonia (or something).  He died!  The Dr. called me at home and was very apologetic.  I was in shock.  I feel the dog wasn't being properly cared for during the weekend.  I still have a hard time talking about it and it's been a few years.  I used to live near the place and couldn't even bear to walk by the hosp.  I've moved away now and am relieved I don't have to have the horrible reminder.  I am so sorry I brought my dog there as I had a much better vet who was a bit further away.  My current vet thought it was very unusual for my dog to have kidney failure at age 9.  Also, I found the doctor's personality to be a bit harsh -- and in speaking with her a few times  -- just got a very bad vibe.  Buyer beware when it comes to your beloved pet!!UPDATE:  I just received an email message from the Doctor.  She sent me the test results for my dog -- explained what happened in detail.  From her explanation, I felt so much better.I've come to believe that this was just a very unfortunate experience thru no fault of thedoctor or staff.  I have heard wonderful things about this doctor and if I were still in the neighborhood, I would most likely give them another chance.  Her message was very kind & apologetic.  The fact that she reached out to me was very impressive and I must say it made me feel much better about the loss of my dog. West Hollywood Animal Hospital is an outrageously expensive and not all that competent outfit. They want $500 for my cat's dental cleaning with a $100 deposit to even book an appointment, when you can have it done for half as much elsewhere. The pricing on their other services is equally "premium".As much as you'll pay at WHAH, you aren't necessarily getting better care. They recommended the aforementioned dental cleaning as a way of addressing my cat's long standing wheezing problem, which they had been unable to cure by other means in previous visits. I finally took her to a less expensive vet, who simply recommended that I switch to a less dusty cat litter, something that WHAH never even mentioned. And it worked! In other words, WHAH made me spend hundreds of dollars on procedures that I don't need.To make it worse, when I tried to cancel the dental cleaning appointment with them, they refused to refund my $100 deposit, because called them 21 hours ahead of the procedure, rather than a full 24 hours. When I asked Dr. Revel what difference 3 hours would have made to them, she replied that I really should have cancelled two days ahead of time. So, WHAH got $100 more of my money, without rendering any service. This is certainly the last they'll ever see of me!Don't be fooled by WHAH's disarmingly charming front desk staff. Price-shop your vet and evaluate the care that you're actually getting; you'll save money and have happier pets. Read Less

Dr. Revel is wonderful with the care and attention she gives her clients and patients. She stands behind her work and follows up frequently. until completion of issues All of this makes her services stand out from others in her field. The front desk is very caring, professional and prompt. My pup is genuinely excited to see everyone when she arrives. It seems she likes the care and attention she gets there. The only thing that I'd wish were different is the pricing. It is very costly for anything here. To make up for that, it would be nice if the staff could recommend ways of treating the pets in a more cost effective way. Read Less

I've been bringing my dog here since they opened (spending god knows how much) but I haven't been satisfied in my last few visits. And after my experience today, I'm definitely questioning whether to continue bringing him in for any vet service again. I had an appointment for an 11AM bath and when I came back an hour later to pick him up (the previous baths for my Boston Terrier were always done in less than an hour), I was told the bath hasn't started yet. I was very annoyed that he was just sitting in a cage for an hour and the only reason they started on the bath was because I reminded them about him when I came to pick him up. Who knows how long he would have just sat there if I didn't remind them about him.I was then called 10 minutes later saying they were finishing up his bath. I found it very hard to believe he received all the services that's included in a bath in 10 minutes so I told the receptionist that I don't want a rushed job. She then proceeded to say she *thinks* they  finished everything in that time frame when just 10 minutes ago they told me they haven't started yet. Really? When I showed up again to pick him up a minute later, my dog appeared from around the corner outside which I thought was weird. In the past, whenever he was finished with baths or any other vet services, he would always come from the back room where they perform all the services. I'm not sure why he was even outside and he was still wearing their collar and leash- not his own like he usually is after he is finished with the bath. They had to go to the back and retrieve his harness and leash, and that confirmed my suspicions that he wasn't given the full bath and/or everything was rushed. I made it clear that I wasn't happy and was surprised that instead of just comping me for the trouble (like any good business would do when upsetting a loyal customer), I was given a bunch of lame cover-up excuses as to why the bath started an hour late and that they will note on my chart to notify me in the future if a bath starts late. Um, what? No. If I book something at a certain time, I expect it to start at that time. I was just really turned off by the receptionist's refusal to just admit they messed up. I am hoping Dr. Revel rectifies this by contacting me. Read Less

When I first adopted my two kitties 6 years ago, I was having so much trouble finding a vet hospital that made me feel truly comfortable with leaving my babies in their care. Some vet clinics are so busy that it feels like the DMV in their waiting area, while others are not so hygienic, or lack modern medical equipment. After my long search, I finally found West Hollywood Animal Hospital. The clinic is so beautiful and clean that I don't mind long office visits with my pets. When you have a pet that needs medical attention, it can be a stressful situation. However, thanks to the friendly and welcoming staff at WHAH, times like this much more tolerable. The veterinarians here are professional and caring - I trust my furry kids with them 100%. I adopted a German Shepherd mix from NKLA earlier this year, and she is the first dog I know who LOVES going to the vet. I don't think this would have been the case if we were going to a different vet clinic.Thank you WHAH for always being there for us! Read Less

I initially came here with my 8 week old Cattle Dog based off a recommendation from a friend. They are easy to talk to and patient. I never feel rushed. My dog, Joey, has always been comfortable. Sure she gets nervous sometimes (it is the vet after all!) but every staff member has treated her with so much love and kindness she doesn't mind going there. I also took Mary Hirt's training classes for about 6 months and had an incredible experience with her. It truly made all the difference - and helped Joey associate going there with fun positive experiences. Mary deserves 5 stars just for her classes as well. I started bringing my two cats to Dr. Shih at WeHo Animal Hospital after getting frustrated with a few really bad experiences withTLC.The difference is night and day. Dr. Shih is super responsive -- she returns phone calls promptly and takes the time to explain options. Her referrals out to specialists are excellent and my cats have never had better care.I've also found the front office staff to be extremely helpful. Not sure what led to the one-star reviews, but I've never found anyone here to be more concerned with profits over their patients (which was definitely my experience at TLC). I agree that Dr. Revel and her staff are far more profit-oriented than care-oriented. It is a constant battle to get prescriptions called in correctly and there is no urgency when it comes to the health care of my dog. I ran out of phenobarbital one day and phoned them to fill a one week supply. I let the front desk person know that my dog was having uncontrollable seizures and that I needed to pick up his meds now. I waited 2 hours and still no call back. I finally drove to their office, and at that time the front desk guy called back to their pharmacy to have the prescription filled. I had to wait another 20 minutes in their empty reception area. I always challenge the doctors on the reason why they want certain blood test and x-rays done. Most of the time they back down and find an alternative treatment plan that is less costly.Update: The morning after I posted this review I received a call from Dr. Revel. The first thing she accused me of is animal neglect stating that it was my responsibility to have the medications on hand for my pet. I did order phenobarbital for my dog and it was lost in the mail, therefore not receiving it on time. She did not even think to ask the reason why or take any responsibility on her end. Instead she'd rather point her finger at me. I repeatedly asked her if she would like to have some feedback about all the issues I have been experiencing and she showed no concern. Instead she informed me that my account was closed and that I should seek out another Vet! It seems to be the pattern, that Dr. Revel rather not deal with the real issues at hand, and rather close your account. Read the previous poor review that she received from Kristien L., she did the same thing to her. My advice to anyone seeking professional Veterinary care is to don't waste your time at this establishment. They are aloof, highly unorganized, expensive, and disconnected from their customers. Honestly, Dr. Revel is one of the most understanding, down to earth, caring medical professionals I have ever come into contact with.  I cannot speak for her partners/colleagues in the practice but Dr. Revel is the heart and soul of this practice.  She spends countless hours emailing/texting/calling/consulting with dog owners about their dogs and she does not make you feel crazy or like you are "asking for too much".  It's no surprise that Dr. Revel has such a successful, well reputed practice in a high end area and we can only hope that she continues to prosper and succeed.  The staff here is beyond friendly, helpful and if you are willing to engage them and treat them nicely, they will surely treat you very nicely in return.  Once you get to know the staff and they get familiar with you and your pet, you will certainly feel like you are getting personal service every single time you come in.We are obviously big fans of WEHO AH (as is our dog), as well as Dr. Revel. We would 100% recommend Dr. Revel and her staff to any dog owner looking for a little TLC and patience with you and your pet.**This is not a paid endorsement or any of that nonsense--we just feel very strongly about the quality of care that Dr. Revel has given us and our pet; we think others should be made aware of this.

I wish I could have continued and plan on going back. Read Less

Pet parents: PLEASE do not leave your animal at WHAH. Dr. Revel and her staff are FAR more profit-oriented than care-oriented. Dr. Revel does not respond personally to medical emails and will instead have her "manager" reply from an AOL address. The only response I received was from a Joshua Deutsch informing us that in response to my email requesting a conversation our account had been closed. We had been clients for 5 years.
