This woman is not in veterinary care for animals but for the money. Her costs for services and medicines are up to 6 times higher than a vet in Sacramento. She's rude and if your dog has a flea makes owners feel like unworthy to own a pet. She sold my mother over 250.00 worth of crap her dog didn't even need. If tissue anything about the price since she's over the top expensive well don't worry she knows people who will front the money....seriously? I seriously can't believe people aren't aware of how much she's overcharging. As long as residents refuse to leave west Sac places like this will thrive. Read Less

I'm sure a great place but after what they did to us I'm disappointed in there live for a pet. . It seems more about money, I took my cat in 12 min before 6 pm cuz my cat seemed as if he'd been poisoned so we rushed in and were told because staff would have to stay over 6 pm we were gonna get a walk in emergency charge and seemed to not really want to see our baby, they told us it would be best to go some where else , it's pretty sad when some one comes in desperate to help there animal and it's about money and them wanting to go home over a animals life. And my animals are regular customers and had been seen there before for there shots but our vet was out so the other would have to step in. . NOT GOOD BUSINESS.. YOUR SUPPOSE TO CARE MORE ABOUT ANIMALS THEN YOU OBVIOUSLY DID. :( SAD we found another place that was closed but had no problem looking at with no charge and told us what to do. . Excellent care ! I just adopted a tiny deaf white Persian kitty who has had multiple medical problems her whole life. Many requiring surgery and many needing long term care. Daisy is frightened of anyone touching her, and any vet care at all is just plain hard to do. Her Persian fur was the worst matted mess I have ever seen. These are the folks that were recommended to me and was I ever pleased. We talked in the room and developed a plan of care before Daisy was even handled. Then with precision we started, Dr Mandel gave a little sedation that was easy and gentle on her system to begin with and then did all of the needed tests and ended with removal of all of her mats. They were so deep that she had to shave her down to pink! Then with gentleness and care she held Daisy until she awakened from the sedation and I took her back. Highly Recommend Jefferson Park Veterinary Clinic they are so compassionate, kind, loving and accommodating. Everyone is so Friendly there! The Entire staff is so gentle and Loving with the animals.  Dr Mandell See's my Fur babies, she cares for them like they are her own.My cats are my life and i trust them with only Dr Mandell and her Staff.  Dr Mandell is very thorough, she explains what shes doing step by step and explains everything again and then writes them down for me.  Back in January I had to put down my 17 year old Cat Socsy, who had IBD, pancreatitis and hypothyroidism and a UTI that had finally caught up with him and his age together made him very ill and unsteady on his feet... he wasn't doing good Dr Mandell and I tried everything but Socsy was weary and very tired it was his time and i was so nervous about doing it. I wasn't sure it was the right time and i was confused. I knew if i put him down i would regret it. But that wasnt the case. Dr Mandell explained the process to me and everything went just as she said. He went so peacefully. I was met seconds after he passed by staff with hugs and gentle kind words. it was so helpful to know i wasnt in it alone.  Three days later, in the mail i received a card from the staff with condolences everyone at Dr M office signed the card  and there at the tippy top was Socsys foot print. It help me grieve. Dr Mandell has treated many many of my fur babies. As i do TNR in West Sacramento. I have NEVER had any problems. My fur babies were always treated so Gental and The staff has always welcomed all my extended feline family. Im so grateful to Dr Mandell and Staff. Friday i Just got a reminder in the mail. it's time for my cat Sammies Vaccines. So that brings me here today. Im telling you all if you care for your Pet this is the place to be. Read Less

My experience with Dr Mandell was very frustrating and over the top expensive. She suggested I buy health insurance from Nationwide and I was able too. Using this insurance was difficult with staff unwilling to fax initially but with time and complaints eventually I received the help I was promised. After a year of surgery, anabiotic's and apts I was told our dog needed surgery again but with specialist that only comes to clinic periodically. I found surgery clinic in Rancho Cordova that did our dogs anal gland removal. When I got out records and read her Year in review by Dr Mandall. I was so sad/upset  and shocked to see 'chronic condition and read that this will be ongoing without Vet letting me know!!! Our dog would have been spared a year of infections and poor treatment. Her insurance now has this listed and pre-existing condition because of her record keeping and notes about BS that wasn't repeated to me. Reading comments like 'money is a problem', single mother, rescue dog being expensive and owner is unreasonable/aggressive. This was insult to injury after paying through the nose!... why not Tell me she needed anal glands removed.!? If this was a chronic condition as was stated at every visit check in her medical records to keep the exclusion going.? Also having her wait and schedule with 'specialist' instead of give me direct info to surgical clinic without you getting another charge wasn't in our dogs best interest. We took our fur baby up to the mountains for what was supposed to be a fun day in the snow. Only when we stopped to buy the snow park ticket and let her stretch her legs she wound up ripping her back nail completely out down to the nerve ending. So we packed her back up in the car and I searched for a vet that was opened on a Sunday somewhere between Strawberry and Sacramento.  When I called here the lady on the phone said they were booked but that she could fit us in. So of course I took the appt. I didn't want to drive all the way home with her paw bleeding and not knowing how much damage was done to her foot. Our vet at home was closed so we would have had to wait til Monday to get her an appt. We arrived and we're greeted by a friendly woman I believe her name was Darla. She got us checked in and after a bit got us roomed. The doctor and the technician were both very sweet and our pup took well to all the staff there. They removed what was left of the nail, cut down her others and found that her other paw had a nail infection luckily it was new so it didn't get bad. They gave us the antibiotics for her and all said goodbye to her. After all was said and done we got on our way. We were the last people out of the office other than the staff. But they were all so nice and took care of our Naila. Thank you for taking the time to see her on a very busy day. We really appreciate it. Read Less

This place helped me out big time by letting me take my cat in immediately after I had found out her leg was messed up and took me in right away took great care of me and the cat and allowed me to get her into the hospital the same day so she could get healed asap made a big difference the injury could have been a lot worse if I wasn't able to get into a vet that quickly thank you!! If you have a cat and like crazy, rude, disorganized Vets to work on your fuzzy loved one, go for it . we went once and took both cats and our darling dog in for check ups. what a nightmare. dogs are not her forte'. at all. during the exam a dog was barking in the back room and she snaps "What's that NOISE!?! " what? what do you think it is. "A cat is not a dog and a pig is not a sheep" she said. Brilliant! that's super helpful. she then proceeded to insult us and insinuate that we did not love our animals and cannot afford proper care. hot smelly small office. nice assistants. but a veterinary practice is not built on assistants . they are built on the VET. I Love love love this place!!!!! My cat, Harold, was in a bad accident and had his tail removed and paw operated on. They did such a great job! The on going care was exceptional as I was at the clinic every other day for weeks! Can't beat the pricing as well. They saved my cat and I couldn't have wished for a better vet!!!! This is the best Vet clinic ever.... I do TNR (trap neuter & Release) in my neighborhood & I brung my Socsy & Sammie for their shots & Emergency checkups. This has been the BEST Vet ever. I was even given a opportunity to make payments once on an Emergency for my very Ill cat Socsy (15 yr old tux kitty) with Hypothyroidism & is on hypoallergenic hydrolized protein that costs $56 biweekly. It gets expensive but since I come ever two weeks. My cat is still alive & I appreciate Dr Mandell ... Had it not been for Dr Carroll Mandell Socsy would be Dead he was so sick, I didn't know how sick he was.. she saved him. DR MANDELL also performed the spaying on Sammie & gave me a deal on the E -collar. I love this clinic its the Best.. so clean , & the nurses are so gentle with the babies (kitties) I'm stopping by today before closing to get Socsy's Hypoallergenic food... Be careful taking your pets here! They're more interested in selling services than your companions well being. They wanted to hospitalize my puppy for an upset stomach after testing negative for parvo. When I declined hospitalization they wanted to charge me $115 for blood work but could not tell me what they were testing for. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired as well. I had to stand at the desk for way too long without being acknowledged by the receptionist while she spoke to a vendor on the phone. Total waiting time in the room was almost 2 hours. This does not include a 20 minute lecture by the vet tech about what a bad puppy owner I am. They wouldn't even let me out of the room to pay for the services, made me wait while they ran my card. And even asked me not to let Stella's paws touch the floor on the way out! I went to another vet in Sacramento for a second opinion. He advised me to feed Stella rice, cottage cheese, yogurt and canned pumpkin for 2 days. Add chicken the 3rd day. And begin mixing in her puppy food after that. He also advised administering pepto-bismal with a syringe to settle her stomach and mix pedialyte with her water for dehydration. Wish I had gone to him first. I would have saved almost $100 for an unnecessary fluid IV (which I practically had to administer myself) and an anti-nausea injection. I wonder how many clients would have followed this vet's first recommendation to hospitalize my 7 week old puppy. And to the vet tech with the pit bull with skin allergies and neurotic Labrador that destroys your furniture when you don't exercise her because she's afraid of the rain who lectured me.....please read this. "The primary and most important time for puppy socialization is the first three months of life. During this time puppies should be exposed to as many new people, animals, stimuli and environments as can be achieved safely and without causing overstimulation manifested as excessive fear, withdrawal or avoidance behavior. For this reason, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior believes that it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive such socialization before they are fully vaccinated." I would add that many skin problems in dogs are caused by stress that can be alleviated with proper exercise. And your lab wouldn't tear up your furniture if you exercised her daily (and that doesn't mean a simple walk around the block when the sun is shining) And who ever heard of a Labrador being afraid of the water??! She's afraid of the rain because you never take her out to play in it! But what do I know? I'm no vet. But I don't appreciate the lecture or the attempt to extort my hard earned dollars for unnecessary and psychologically damaging treatment like leaving a 7 week old puppy in a cage overnight because she's slightly dehydrated from a mild case of a sore tummy. I will never set foot in this establishment again and I would advise anyone reading this to seek treatment elsewhere Read Less

Love the care my fur babies get here. I recently brought my 2 male kittens here to get neutered and the cost wasn't expensive. My kittens healed so fast, in fact they were up and running the next day (even though they weren't supposed to be). You can tell they really care about the animals they see. I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. Terrible service. Advice is terrible. They are close, so I keep going back. They have diagnosed my dog with multiple major issues and each time I get a 2nd opinion. Both times the 2nd opinion has told me that nothing was wrong. Even said that the vet could just be trying to make extra money. I'm always happy to pay extra money to help my dog, but not when they are just trying to take advantage of me. Wonderful veterinarian office. Top notch care and amazing people who really care about animals. Dr. Mandell is an incredible vet! She saved my cat who had bern bitten by a large dog and made sure she survived serious surgery. Without her expertise she would have never survived. I only take my pets to them. Five stars! Our second visit was definitely a more positive experience than the first one, but I am all about second chances. The vet was probably just having a bad day, which isn't an excuse by any means, but she made up for it the second time around.I've been taking my puppy to this vet since he was 8 weeks old, and they have been very helpful answering all my questions and providing us with whatever we need for him. The front desk receptionists are always very nice, greet us with a smile, and make sure we have everything we need for our little guy. Though I've never been to the vet down the street, I'd definitely recommend Jefferson Park Veterinary Clinic before anyone else in West Sac based on my experience with them. Read Less

Friendly staff, very friendly vet that takes the time to explain things to you and gives you training tips to work on.  Their prices are also cheaper than the VCA down the street.  I would highly recomend them.There's a big friendly cat always roaming the office and rooms.  It's cute to watch...
