Westminster Veterinary Group

Westminster, California
General Info
Founded in 1998, Westminster Veterinary Group continues to set the standard for small animal veterinary care in Southern California. This award-winning hospital delivers cutting-edge care for over ten thousand pets each year. In addition to dog and cats, exotic pets (hyacinth macaw, Kinkajou, bearded dragons, snakes, turtles, Burmese pythons, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, all pocket pets, parrots and birds) represent over 50 percent of all pets we see. Our practice includes a wide range of minimally invasive medical and wellness protocols delivered by an experienced and compassionate team of veterinary doctors (Dr. Tia Greenberg, Dr. Nicole Dielo and Dr. Naomi Barnes) with a combined experience of more than thirty years. Our facility is a primary referral choice for veterinarians all over Southern California—this hospital is where the experts send their exotic pets because we have the facilities and experience to care for these animals.
Compassionate care means going that extra mile to ensure that your pets enjoy the highest quality life. Pet care begins with customized programs for every stage of your pet’s life. This includes planned diets and advanced screenings for cancer and other serious medical conditions. For example, your senior pets, those over seven years old, are often at risk for many serious medical conditions. Unfortunately, pets do not communicate early discomfort until conditions are severe. Our practice offers screenings and treatment modalities to prevent pet illness in the first place. These services include Laparoscopy, endoscopy, dentistry, in-house laboratory diagnostics, specialist consultation and pharmacy. Our alternative/integrative medicine protocols include acupuncture for a growing list of animals. The response and effectiveness of this modality on dogs is astounding. Print our first-timer acupuncture coupon and schedule your appointment today?
Like our cats and dogs, exotic pets require even higher levels of care and Westminster Veterinary Group is one of only a handful of animal hospitals in California that offers a comprehensive list of medical and wellness protocols for exotic pets. For example, last year, we successfully surgically repaired an 80-year-old parrot’s face injury, etc. For us, advanced care for exotics is our experience every day.
But don’t just take our word. We invite you to visit our facility located at 6621 Westminster Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683. And call us at 714.899.1100. When you visit our facility and talk to our doctors, you will truly understand why pets and their owners continue to travel to our facility from all parts of California and other states.
Visit us on the web at www.westminsterVeterinaryGroup.com to take advantage of special offers, events and promotions. As always, please bring your pets because they will simply love our luxury boarding suites.

I was helping my friend get her dogs out from their kennel. It's a little expensive in my opinion almost $400 for 2 dogs for 5 days is excessive and that's the only complaint I have.

OH MY LORD. BEST vet I've ever had. My 6 month old Pitbull got hit by a car and was in terrible condition. They had found her and took complete care of her. Since she had a vet pervious we considered going back, but the way DR.Tran handled myself (being a mess because my dog was so injured) and my puppy we had to stay. It it's so funny because through all the traumatic experiences my dog has had at the vet she gets so excited and LITERALLY tries to run through the door to see everyone. They all greet her the second she walks in, some run around the counter to pet her, and the best part is Dr.Tran sits on the floor the whole appointment with her. She hugs her as my dog licks her to death. It makes me so happy my dog CAN love the vet. It's hard owning a breed where most people are petrified of and at times ignore her. There she fits in, no ones scared of her, she just gets loved just like any dog should. Read Less

My boyfriend and I have taken our puppy, Daisy, here to get her up to date on all of her shots. The facilities are very clean and modern looking. All the women that work there have been extremely friendly and approachable. The first visit was kind of expensive but with that price we were able to get Daisy checked for all parasites and ailments possible for a puppy, which eased our young puppy parent worries. Since our first visit the rest of her shots have been very inexpensive and the visits were extremely quick (which we love). Overall, we have had only great experiences here. Came here for my 19 year old toy fox terrier,  when he began to have seizures and needed to be put down. We made the appointment, and when arriving the staff was very sympathetic. We were given as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes before and after his procedure. They allowed the entire family to be there for the process, and provided tissues to us. For being such a sad experience, it was peaceful and they were so kind. I now take my cat in, the doctor is so kind and I'm so surprised how easily they get him in and out of his carrier. They are very clear in explaining cost and options, and there are no surprises on our bill. They are totally reasonable with their pricing. Read Less

My first time here as a new client. I currently have a sick hamster whose been bleeding for these last 2 days . I called around oc but every vet I had called do not help hamsters it's more for dogs and cats around here until I found Westminster vet thank goodness first of all cause they were able to take a look at my little hammy Theodore . I had called and made an appointment which I got the same day with Dr. Boehler who was super nice and tried to help me with my little hammy. Let's start off with the customer service which is great the two girls in the front desk was very nice and welcoming they had offer water or coffee while I had to fill out some forms. After that I had waited another 5 minutes until I saw the doctor which was great cause I was running on a tight schedule. I'm giving this place a 4 star because I don't agree with their pricing but I don't blame them because everyone needs to make a living. I'm mostly giving them a 4 star because I've never had a vet who called the next day twice and one of the call was the actual doctor checking up on my poor little Theodore which was surprising . I've gone to banfield and they're pretty big but I've never had that kind of service before which I appreciate a lot ,it's the small things that count that matters the most. Dr. Boehler did recommend getting X-rays , pain reliever & possible surgery for my poor little Theodore but I ended up just going with some antibiotics let's hope & pray everything works out well and this will help my poor hammy :'( . Anywho thanks to the staff here at WV for being so welcoming and checking up on us. Read Less

Compared to other vets that I have taken Zeus to they are by far the lowest priced for treatment and also for taking your pets back for weekly visits the cost per visit each week is very low.I want to thank Doctor Houston as well as the loving staff there for the loving care they show Zeus each week.  I would recommend them to anyone who has a pet that they love as much as I do my Zeus.  Thank you Doctor Houston and thanks to the staff of Westminster Veterinarian Hospital. They ran a bunch of unnecessary tests and recommended a bunch of unnecessary medicines. Even when we just came in for a yearly shot, we came out with a 300 dollars bill. I'm so very late in leaving this review, but I never told Dr. Greenberg,  or Elijah, and the rest of the staff how grateful I am for all you did.  You see,  back in 2007 my bunny Tipsy, had fly strike. Another vet took care of him, but for rehabilitation they couldn't do anything for me. Enter Westminster Veterinary Group, and Dr. Greenberg. She stepped in, she addressed issues missed by the other vet, and when Tipsy developed a splay,  one of her staff researched the issues, and found a very, very rare solution often overlooked,  Dr. Greenberg had faith in her findings, and told me it was a long shot,  but she wad willing to give it a go,  it worked.  My baby was back to his old bunny self.  Elijah was with her every single step, appointment, and procedure. Tipsy passed during a routine neutering procedure later that year, under Dr. Greenberg's care.  This was absolutely not Her fault or anyone else's, it just happened.  I'm glad it was with her, he was in the best hands.  She called me personally, and it may be something they go through regularly, but I heard the compassion, disappointment, and love in her voice as she talked me through the tears and heartbreak. She told me Elijah tried CPR until she had to call it, and she had to tell him to stop.  My point in leaving this unbelievably long review is that Dr. Greenberg is amazing at what she does, she listens, she cares, and so does her staff.  Tipsy wasn't with me in his final moments, he was with her and elijah,  and I find a great peace in that, and she gave me more time with my baby, she is the reason I had him for just a moment longer. I don't know where Elijah is now,  but I wasn't him and Dr. Greenberg to know their efforts were not lost on me, and I will forever be grateful for her and her staff and for every effort they made for my little grey bunny. The young woman that researched the splay issue, did Tipsy's paw prints, we never asked for them, she just did it for us,because she knew how important and what a big part of our life he was,  and Elijah,  thank you for trying so hard to bring my baby back,  I can't tell you how much that means to me, even now.  I hope you see this.  Thank you. Took my rabbit here a couple of months ago as an emergency because his mate passed away and he developed an ear infection. When I first arrived I was greeted immediately and signed in, the wait wasn't very long. After a general check up by the vet tech (weight, temperature, etc) the vet came in to check on his ear that was infected. She ended up having to take him in the back to get a deeper look into his ear and also call a specialist, as rabbit ear infections can be very serious. He was given medication and I was told to come back after 2 weeks, at the next check up he was all healed perfectly and didn't need any further treatment! They are reasonably priced in check ups($50) and medication($25 for 2 types lasting about 2 weeks) and the staff is very friendly and informative Read Less

We recently lost our beloved cat, Stella. Her illness hit rapidly & her symptoms were, at times, confusing. For humans, there are some illnesses that can be hard to diagnose. It's the same for pets, who cannot tell you how they're feeling or if a particular treatment is working. The team at WVG are experts at what they do, but they are not miracle workers. No one could save Stella from the tumors in her liver & kidneys. As hard as it was, the best we could do for her was to let her go. I want you all to know what WVG has done for us. From research & articles, to the doctors calling & emailing us late into the night to offer advice & support. The phenomenal staff, who treated us like family every time we came in. And the patience! Explaining test results & diagnostics kindly no matter how many times we asked, "what's that?". There was never any pressure to seek expensive treatments. And the love. They loved her, too. They wept with us & hugged us when it was time to say goodbye. They cared about Stella and they care about us. We took our dogs here for boarding when we went to Los Cabos, Mèxico. I did extensive research around the south Orange County area and this facility was the most affordable and they also looked like a nice and newer establishment. Our dogs stayed here for 4 nights and 5 days. The reservation and paperwork process was quick and painless. Our total for boarding was $165 and we also added on baths for both dogs. Mushroom was under 30lbs so her bath was $25.00 and Inky is 40lbs so his bath was $35.00. A total of $225 for bath and boarding. Trust me, that's a good price. When we came to pick them up, the animal care taker was helpful. We asked if we could see where our dogs stayed and he came right up and walked us back there. We toured the boarding facility and it was quite a walk to get back there. That place is huge! We viewed the private enclosed yard that they took the dogs to and it was a nice size, green and lush. Both of our dogs stayed in the (Ward 1 Run (4 x 6 feet) $27.00 per night - $13.50 additional pet). We viewed it and it was a decent size for the both of them. It was narrow and long, not wide. We asked many questions about how our dogs behaved during their stay and he was very honest and gave us great feedback on our dogs. We were glad that our babies were in his care. The website stated they will be walked 2 times a day, which is not completely true. They actually let the dogs out to the private enclosed yard twice a day. That doesn't bother me too much, as long as the dogs had an opportunity for fresh air and play time, that's all that matters. I just wished the site was more clear and not misleading.  Overall it was a good experience. Our dogs looked healthy and well cared for. The  boarding facilities was clean and well kept. The prices were affordable compared to many Orange County boarding facilities. We would recommend this place for boarding. Read Less

Sad this veterinary group really is all about the money. I took my guy in for an ear infection. Of course they couldn't just treat the ear they had to preform all sorts of tests to determine what kind of ear infection it was. I asked if it was really necessary, of course it could be yeast or a bacteria infection and that would determine the course of treatment. Funny, she said he had both yeast and bacteria but only gave me 1 medication. I Google the medication and it said it is used for yeast or bacteria ear infections. So the reason for the $300 they charged for all the tests were for what exactly? Save your money and find a vet who truly cares about your fury friend and not just in it to make a buck. Read Less

This Vet group doesn't care about the pet, they are solely in it for the money. I just paid $509 to have my dog spayed and repair a herniated umbilical cord. When they brought her out she had a cone on but her incision wasn't wrapped or covered. I asked why and they said just keep the cone on she will be fine. 2 days later she had ripped the incision open by scratching it with her rear leg. I took her back in and $365.00 later they wouldn't admit it was their fault, they had to put her under again and re suture and staple her incision. They brought her out UNWRAPPED again and after I questioned them AGAIN they said perhaps she shpuld wear a t-shirt to prevent her from scratching it. You think? They needlessly and selfishly put my dog through 2 surgeries in as many days. I will never take any animal back to them and will tell anyone who'll listen to stay away from them. Read Less

Dr Greenberg is one of the most respected vets in the country and for good reason. I am shocked at the bad reviews. It leads me to believe that the money may have been more of an issue to you than your pets welfare. I have never experienced a test that I felt was unnecessary. I hate forking out money but I do it without consideration for the welfare of my kids. Just ask my Care Credit Card. This is one of the few vets around that cares about the animals and not the money. But realize this is a business and without money they cannot function. The front desk, most Techs and the Vets know myself and my wife by first name and every single pet we have, Koda, Renji, Skittle-butt, Nani, Scruffy, Toffee and Charmin. How many Vets do you see who need to look at a chart just to remember your name? and still pronounce it wrong. I have even had calls from Dr Greenberg just to see how my kids are doing. I have nothing but respect for Westminster Veterinary Group and you will be doing your pet a great favor by trusting them.Read Less

Westminster Veterinary Group

Westminster, California
(46)
6621 Westminster Avenue
Westminster California 92683

Read Less

They ran a bunch of unnecessary tests and recommended a bunch of unnecessary medicines. Even when we just came in for a yearly shot, we came out with a 300 dollars bill. As a new pet owner, I trust them with my pet, but it was a huge mistake. They charged 500 to neuter my newly rescued puppy who is only 5 months. Do not come to this place. Thank you.

So many beautiful kittens and cats, it was so difficult to choose one when adopting my cat. Really friendly and helpful staff. I would totally recommend this place.
