UPDATE: I have been hearing alarming feedback from friends and acquaintances who have been patients of Dr Meyerhoff in the past couple of years. I understand she went on a sabbatical, but had returned to her practice. I CANNOT recommend her anymore. Although my experience was helpful, I dismissed the other issues that happened to me while I was there. One appointment took almost 4 hours as we waited and waited for her to return to the room, and when we checked out, they tried to up-sell many unnecessary treatments, including flea and parasite protection, which would have been toxic to our pet. Also, she prescribed thyroid medication and prednisolone which turned out to be incredibly wrong. After retesting at another vet, we learned the pet was NOT hyperthyroid. I will not go into more detail at this time, but suffice it to say, the feedback I have gotten was disturbing enough for me to not recommend.************************************************************************************************************My experience has been quite amazing. I was referred to her by a friend who had a dog who was being treated by Dr Meyerhoff for a tumor near her heart. After seeing a specialist who sent the dog home to die, my friend, as a last resort, took her dog to see Dr Meyerhoff. No promises were made, but they decided to at least try an integrative approach, taking the best from both allopathic and complementary medicine. This was not heroic medicine, more of attempt to give some form of treatment which has worked to the point of giving this dog a new lease on life. I'm not talking about anecdotal cure all's; they are using evidence based supplements which are vetted in peer review journals as a complement to standard medical interventions. I was astonished that the dog came around so well and is still doing fine. I thought I have to give this vet a try since I needed a second opinion for my very sick kitties. I have not been disappointed. I brought two senior cats with serious multiple health issues to see Dr Meyerhoff and I intend to bring my other two kitties to see her as well. All of them are seniors. Her approach of building up the general health of the animal is so critical to getting well, and having quality of life. One cat has been in renal failure for two years and I was giving her subcutaneous fluids and medications, but in a minimalist way; she also had terrible dental problems, and as I learned, severe arthritis and constipation, a common ailment with kidney disease. The other was doing poorly without a proper diagnosis. It's not that their previous vet care was so poor, but I had a sense that there was unnecessary suffering and discomfort that could be treated and alleviated. I was right.Dr Meyerhoff really nailed down all the conditions that needed to be dealt with, but took an approach that ended up being overwhelming for me to execute. Plus, I ended up treating one cat for hyperthyroidism, where it didn't actually exist. Retesting showed she was not truly hyper. This was corrected luckily. However, my most senior cat, 19 years old, was doing so poorly, weighing barely six and a half pounds, her spine and hip bones protruding, has actually gained enough weight on Dr Meyerhoff's protocol so that I can barely feel her spine. I didn't know that cats with renal failure can get so terribly constipated; I thought her problem was because of excess stomach acid, which commonly happens with kidney failure in cats; she was being over medicated with acid controllers but not getting any comfort. Her constipation was affecting her ability and desire to eat, as well as her terrible dental condition. She later improved enough to have a quick dentistry at a specialist's office. Without Dr Meyerhoff's diagnosis, she would not have gained enough strength to have her teeth treated.I would give Dr Meyerhoff points for her diagnostic skills and for having a state of the art x ray machine. The films surpass others because they have greater detail. I don't understand why other vets never upgrade their x ray equipment. It is a critical issue.Dr Meyerhoff calls and does status updates, follows up with every detail and has invested much time with these cases. I have to say, I never had such thorough follow up by any vet, and I am talking decades of vet experiences, some ending very tragically, events which haunt me to this day. She explains everything, is patient with my confusion and questions and makes herself available if I forget to ask something or if anything is unclear. I give her 5 stars for her diagnostic talents and ability, bedside manner, after care and follow up, as well as her use of evidence based complementary medicine. I understand that she has a tendency to overwhelm new patients. But I would still recommend her for her thoroughness. Read Less
