The staff is really nice and so helpful with everything when it comes to my fur baby. Pricing is similar to other vets in the area and I feel like they go above and beyond to make sure your animal is taken care of. My dog loves going there because they are so loving with her. She gets excited as soon as we pull into the parking lot!

I have been taking my two dogs to Arvada Flats for 7 years. We have received good and sometimes questionable service. Today was absolutely infuriating.
After taking my dog to have an infected blister on her elbow treated on Wednesday, I picked her up after work to find her wound was not treated (at all) and she was left in her kennel (presumably for the bulk of the day), laying in her urine-soaked blanket and mattress. The blanket was given back to me at the end of the day by her caregiver in a trash bag, apparently bc it was so soaked with pee. I was told later by the owner that “it was water, not urine”.
When I arrived home at 6:30pm my dog lapped an entire bowl of water, indicating to me that she DID NOT have water during the day either, which explained the dark yellow color of her urine on her blanket. It was not water, and if by chance she did “tip her water bowl over”, I can believe that. I can also believe that the bowl was not re-filled.
I dropped my dog off at 7:45am and was told that she was taken out to go to the bathroom at 1:30pm. I was told she was taken out a second time before I arrived to pick her up at 6pm. I was told that the urine was noticed “just before” I arrived “and soap and water, as well as wipes we’re used to clean her wound and underside”. This is an absolute lie - told to me this afternoon by the owner of the clinic. The reason I was upset, initially, is because my dog reeked of urine so bad when I loaded her into the car. It was more than noticeable that her coat (and wound) was soaked with pee. When I got home and I opened the trash bag to see the urine stains on the blanket - I was even more frustrated. Water???? It was a dark yellow.
When I called to talk with a manager Wednesday evening, the person at the front desk told me the owner could call me back on Monday. Monday????? 4-5 days later...
Today the owner called me at work while I was in the middle of attending a conference. Wanting to convey to her what occurred, I listened to everything she had to say. Then when I explained to her all of the above, I went on to explain that what made me most angry is that my dog’s wound was festering in urine throughout the day and that her caregiver had told me she was given antibiotics. Thinking that he was either confused or lying, I called the front desk the next day and asked. I was told that my dog was not given any medication at all. If she was given antibiotics, why wasn’t it itemized in the $250 vet bill?
When I brought my dog into the clinic she was barely able to stand because of her elbow. It was twice the normal size due to the infection, which is now a 3” open sore. Why would a prescribing doctor call for two weeks of antibiotics and not treat a clearly ailing dog immediately? Why would a dog’s open sore not be cleaned, wrapped, or at the very least, not be left to fester on a urine-soaked blanket???
The kicker to it all is that when I was explaining all of this to the owner, she stopped me and said that everything I was saying was “180 degrees from the truth (?) and was not what happened at all”.
Why would I lie? Why would I make this up?
By the end of the conversation, I was told by the owner that she had recorded the entire phone call and that she was not going to be “threatened” by me because I was going to post this online. Well here it is.
This is how you treat your paying customers of 7 years???
Recording customer phone calls? Telling customers they are lying? Your staff lying about vaccinations and leaving a dog in a urine soaked mattress and blanket - with an already badly infected wound - for who knows how long?
This is how you lose good customers.
And for anyone that may possibly review this post in the future... look at all the *good* comments below and you will be able to clearly see the owner’s replies (5-6 hrs ago) because I told her I would be posting this review. Pretty ironic she would choose to respond to only the good comments today. They must stack that way when she responds. I don’t know. I don’t even care. I will never go to Arvada Flats again.

First time there. Very supportive and informative. Did not require all sorts of other tests since I have a 12 yr dog. I got two different meds for kennel cough and she stopped coughing in a week.

We just love your clinic. Honestly I was scared to bring my new puppy, Luna, to anyone; for fear that she would be judged for her breed (she's a pittie). After being seen their 2 times, I realized it's just the opposite. She was welcomed and loved just as all the other pups were. They took care of her, as if she was their own. I have never seen a dog love to go to the vet like Luna does. We have definitely found a permanent vet for our furry family member. Thank you so much for all that you guys do!!!

My 16-year-old cat (and best bud) took a turn for the worst and Dr. Furst compassionately and honestly helped me make the best decision regarding his well-being. Although I am so very sad that he is no longer with us, I appreciated Dr. Furst's kindness and expertise in letting him go the best way possible. I also bawled my eyes out at the front desk when picking up his ashes and paw print the other day. I appreciate that the staff was so caring while I was a huge mess. I look forward to bringing my three other pets in for needed visits. Thank you all for everything.

We moved into this neighborhood and our dog had to have surgery on his paw. Arvada Flats provided the follow up care and they are By Far, the best Vet Hospital i've ever been to. Dr Bassett is extremely kind and made me feel that my pup was the most important dog in the world. We were even out of town when my dog had a setback and she assured us that everything would be fine. If there was 6 stars- I'd give that rating. Top Notch

I'm very happy with this clinic. It took me awhile to find the right clinic for my pets because I need to feel the staff care and have time for my questions. I've had some bad experiences at other vets, but have been with Arvada Flats now for a couple of years and I appreciate the time they take at exams explaining things to me and the love they show my pets. It seems like they really enjoy what they do and I think this team is in it for the right reasons! I highly recommend and think people need to know about this little gem of a vet clinic.

I'm very happy with this clinic. It took me awhile to find the right clinic for my pets because I need to feel the staff care and have time for my questions. I've had some bad experiences at other vets, but have been with Arvada Flats now for a couple of years and I appreciate the time they take at exams explaining things to me and the love they show my pets. It seems like they really enjoy what they do and I think this team is in it for the right reasons! I highly recommend and think people need to know about this little gem of a vet clinic.

I am giving a poor rating to this clinic because the doctor, not sure of her name, that took care of my dog Rosco insisted that I give him two extra shots that I had already declined. Probably just to increase my bill. She is the little blond on the right of this picture. She tells me that even though he was an old dog, 14 years, he was healthy. His heartbeat was strong and that he had a few more years left. And he was a healthy dog. He had a bit of arthritis, but he was healthy. Exactly a month, to the day of the visit, he died. Just laid down after I had left for work and died. Showed no signs that that was going to happen at all. I called the clinic the other day and asked questions about the shots and what was in them and they couldn't tell me anything. The girl who answered the phone didn't even show me any empathy. Nor did the doctor call me after hearing this. You would think she would have called and gave her condolences and informed me of what was in the shots and that it wasn't the shots that killed him. Something.... But I haven't heard anything from them. In my heart I believe if I hadn't taken him in to this clinic he would still be with me. Well... when or if I get another dog I sure as heck will not take him to this clinic! Samantha Chacon

My cat was sick. He had a growth in his leg and was getting old. In august it started out as a tiny bump and by September it took over his entire leg. Treating it with medicine wasn't helping. After speaking with my primary vet, I made the decision that it was better not to operate on a cat of that age. But he was in a lot of pain. My vet recommended that I take my cat to Arvada Flats to have him put down.
At first, the visit was SUPER uncomfortable. I had to explain the situation to the vet that saw me. It is hard explaining to someone that you have already explored other treatment options when they dont know you. Once she understood that I was making an informed decision, she agreed.
They put my cat and I in a room together to cuddle on the couch for a little while. I'm not good at that emotional stuff, but I am glad I got to say a good bye and to let him know that I love him. I held him in my arms as he peacefully passed away. The vet was amazing (and I feel like a b word for not remembering her name off the top of my head.) She talked with him. Petted him. Loved him. Talked with me. Comforted me. THAT is someone who is supposed to be a vet. Someone who is filled with so much genuine love for animals. I wish she could have seen him before he got sick
I am sure that is the worst part of their job.
After it was all said and done. I just wanted to get home. So they agreed to bill me. I took forever paying the bill, and they haven't made me feel like a dead beat for it or tacked on a bunch of extra fees.
I am glad they tried to educate me on alternative treatment possibilities. And I hope they continue to do that in their practice. It makes me feel like I am going to an ethical Vet that prioritizes quality of treatment (animals are not objects and should not be treated as such.)

The environment is very clean and I continually get excellent and friendly service from the front desk to the technician's to the veterinarians. All the veterinarians expertise are top-notch and I know I can trust that my dogs are consistently in good hands. I can't say enough good things about AFV. I have taken both my puppy and cat to this vet on multiple occasions. Overall the facilities are nice and clean and all surgeries have been done well with no issues. My problem comes from the fact that they are VERY opinionated and will not hesitate to make you feel guilty if you disagree with them. We found an abandoned cat about a year ago who was at most a year old. She had been out on her own for a while and had issues with her claws so we decided to do a declaw procedure. Every staff member who we spoke to from the vet to the person setting up the appointment gave us a lecture on how we were basically abusive but if we were going to get rid of her because the procedure wasnt done then they would do it. We never said anything about getting rid of her by the way, and NEVER would. I understand that this is a controversial topic, and for that reason decided to let it go, but I love that cat so much I do not appreciate being treated like that. You have said your piece and we have made our decision so please stop. We decided to give them another shot when we adopted our puppy and wanted to get him neutered. We got the same hassle that it was not right for us to do the neuter at that time (4 months). We still went on with surgery as we were obligated to get him neutered under Colorado state law because he was from a rescue. When we picked him up they were saying how happy everyone was going to be that he was leaving. Apparently, he was whining, but not so bad that he had to be sent to the "back" where the problem dogs go but "he almost did". Excuse me? He is 4 months old, waking up in a strange place in pain and on drugs... who wouldn't whine? I have spoken with a few other neighbors and relatives that have been here and said that they had similar issues when setting up appointments and after picking up their pets. Personally, I understand that everyone has an opinion but this gets to a point where I do not want to come back. We pay a lot of money to care for our animals and that money is better served somewhere where the animals and owners will be respected.

My roommate had to bring his dog here for an emergency situation and he's been very pleased with then and his dog is much more happy after her treatment! I am giving a poor rating to this clinic because the doctor, not sure of her name, that took care of my dog Rosco insisted that I give him two extra shots that I had already declined. Probably just to increase my bill. She is the little blond on the right of this picture. She tells me that even though he was an old dog, 14 years, he was healthy. His heartbeat was strong and that he had a few more years left. And he was a healthy dog. He had a bit of arthritis, but he was healthy. Exactly a month, to the day of the visit, he died. Just laid down after I had left for work and died. Showed no signs that that was going to happen at all. I called the clinic the other day and asked questions about the shots and what was in them and they couldn't tell me anything. The girl who answered the phone didn't even show me any empathy. Nor did the doctor call me after hearing this. You would think she would have called and gave her condolences and informed me of what was in the shots and that it wasn't the shots that killed him. Something.... But I haven't heard anything from them. In my heart I believe if I hadn't taken him in to this clinic he would still be with me. Well... when or if I get another dog I sure as heck will not take him to this clinic! Samantha Chacon

They are the absolute best! They are thorough and caring with all of my animals. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my fur babies.

Thank you so much to the veterinarians & staff. All are very caring and so good with our animals. Had to put our dog down recently and the vet and vet techs were very comforting and gentle.

My cat was sick. He had a growth in his leg and was getting old. In august it started out as a tiny bump and by September it took over his entire leg. Treating it with medicine wasn't helping. After speaking with my primary vet, I made the decision that it was better not to operate on a cat of that age. But he was in a lot of pain. My vet recommended that I take my cat to Arvada Flats to have him put down.
At first, the visit was SUPER uncomfortable. I had to explain the situation to the vet that saw me. It is hard explaining to someone that you have already explored other treatment options when they dont know you. Once she understood that I was making an informed decision, she agreed.
They put my cat and I in a room together to cuddle on the couch for a little while. I'm not good at that emotional stuff, but I am glad I got to say a good bye and to let him know that I love him. I held him in my arms as he peacefully passed away. The vet was amazing (and I feel like a b word for not remembering her name off the top of my head.) She talked with him. Petted him. Loved him. Talked with me. Comforted me. THAT is someone who is supposed to be a vet. Someone who is filled with so much genuine love for animals. I wish she could have seen him before he got sick
I am sure that is the worst part of their job.
After it was all said and done. I just wanted to get home. So they agreed to bill me. I took forever paying the bill, and they haven't made me feel like a dead beat for it or tacked on a bunch of extra fees.
I am glad they tried to educate me on alternative treatment possibilities. And I hope they continue to do that in their practice. It makes me feel like I am going to an ethical Vet that prioritizes quality of treatment (animals are not objects and should not be treated as such.)

The environment is very clean and I continually get excellent and friendly service from the front desk to the technician's to the veterinarians. All the veterinarians expertise are top-notch and I know I can trust that my dogs are consistently in good hands. I can't say enough good things about AFV. I have taken both my puppy and cat to this vet on multiple occasions. Overall the facilities are nice and clean and all surgeries have been done well with no issues. My problem comes from the fact that they are VERY opinionated and will not hesitate to make you feel guilty if you disagree with them. We found an abandoned cat about a year ago who was at most a year old. She had been out on her own for a while and had issues with her claws so we decided to do a declaw procedure. Every staff member who we spoke to from the vet to the person setting up the appointment gave us a lecture on how we were basically abusive but if we were going to get rid of her because the procedure wasnt done then they would do it. We never said anything about getting rid of her by the way, and NEVER would. I understand that this is a controversial topic, and for that reason decided to let it go, but I love that cat so much I do not appreciate being treated like that. You have said your piece and we have made our decision so please stop. We decided to give them another shot when we adopted our puppy and wanted to get him neutered. We got the same hassle that it was not right for us to do the neuter at that time (4 months). We still went on with surgery as we were obligated to get him neutered under Colorado state law because he was from a rescue. When we picked him up they were saying how happy everyone was going to be that he was leaving. Apparently, he was whining, but not so bad that he had to be sent to the "back" where the problem dogs go but "he almost did". Excuse me? He is 4 months old, waking up in a strange place in pain and on drugs... who wouldn't whine? I have spoken with a few other neighbors and relatives that have been here and said that they had similar issues when setting up appointments and after picking up their pets. Personally, I understand that everyone has an opinion but this gets to a point where I do not want to come back. We pay a lot of money to care for our animals and that money is better served somewhere where the animals and owners will be respected.

We love this clinic! We have been bringing our lab here his whole life as almost his whole family line are "patients" here. We started to bring our new puppy here and she was so comfortable and loved. My roommate had to bring his dog here for an emergency situation and he's been very pleased with then and his dog is much more happy after her treatment! Love Dr. Best, she is amazing with the animals!

I love this clinic. Dr. Kelly Best is the best. I can't tell you how much easier she made the passing of my dog two years ago and my cat today. Thank you Kelly you are the best.
