Jefferson is fantastic! I can't say enough about the quality and care that Jefferson and it's employees put into their practice. We live over an hour away and these folks are still our Vet of choice. It's never an issue to call them with questions when our pups are sick as they are happy to assist and honest with their responses. If they feel they need to see one of our pups they tell us. If they feel it's not serious, they don't have us come in just to come in to charge us. It's also never a problem to request their records come license time or when we register the pups for daycare. This seems like a nice, small neighborhood vet office. I don't understand why I had such a horrible time with them. We picked this clinic for a routine vet for my pug, just needing annual heartworm and vaccines. Every year they educated me on an elective surgery that would improve my dog's breathing. I hadn't heard of it before, but the 3rd time they mentioned it, I thought maybe I should do it while he's young to recover fast. Again, this was an elective surgery they recommended. So, we schedule this very expensive ($500+) surgery, I drop off my dog in the morning and I paced at home for hours, I was so worried. I finally got a call at 2pm and I think it's done, but was told the laser didn't work and my dog was all sedated, intubated, and catheterized, but all they had done was a dental exam and clean. I was confused, like bewildered, what do you do when your vet doesn't do what you had agreed on? I was assured we could reschedule and the costs of the sedation, etc would carry over. I was mortified, I had a drugged dog and not a lot to show for it. I was a fool, I paid that day, suckered by the sweet faces of the techs that hadn't done anything wrong. So I simmer for a while then I calm down and reschedule 6 months later. I was then told that no, they had no record of any costs carrying over, I would have to pay full cost. In shock, I talked to the vet, who acted like all of this was my fault and said the most he would help was a 30% discount. I was accused of waiting too long for this elective surgery. Dr. Russ and his team are sincere in their concern and honest about costs. Dr. Russ found glaucoma in our dog's eye, sent us to a specialist, and scheduled us for surgery within the week. You can tell they genuinely care about animals and their owners! Read Less

Jefferson Animal Clinic has the friendliest and most caring staff of any vet I've ever been to. I have two miniature dachshunds that have had back issues and one had a broken leg. My boys and I love Jefferson Animal Clinic. We live out in the plains and the drive is well worth it. We adopted both of our dogs knowing they were heart worm positive. We did tons of research and talked with the doctors at Jefferson. They were very honest with the options we had. Didn't push one option over another like several other offices we contacted. After just a couple months we were able to get both boys heart worm negative! Everyone there has been so helpful with whatever needs we have. Everyone was very kind to me and my cat. He gets very stressed about vet visits (particularly shots), but everyone knew how to handle him and calm him down, and he wasn't traumatized like he's been at other vets. And everyone was very helpful in suggesting what I could do to make sure he stays as healthy as possible (instead of typing vague phrases on the report and never saying a word to me -- like past vets). Horrible place! I brought my kitten in here a few years back for his first appt after adopting him. The vet tech and the vet were rough with him in general. They went to take his temp and he turned around and tried to bite them, while I understand it is not acceptable for a cat to bite anyone, you tell me what cat hasn't tired to scratch or bite someone when getting their temp taken. Well, when he turned around and tried to bite them, mind you he did not bite anyone, the vet scruffed him, got right in his face and yelled, "YOU DO NOT BITE! YOU UNDERSTAND?!" The vet tech swatted him so hard he yelled. I told them to give him back to me and I walked out without finishing the exam. I really don't understand why this place has good reviews. I would NEVER go back here and I tell everyone I know to stay far away from here, there are much better facilities elsewhere. Read Less

I brought my pup Olive here today for the first time. As soon as we walked in we felt very welcomed. Olive is very hesitant towards new surroundings and people. They took their time with her and Olive felt comfortable and at ease when we left. They took good care of Olive and treated her as if she was family. I'm very happy they are so close to home! Bring both my dogs to them. My first dog was adopted and her rescue took her there so I went to them since they had a history. When I got my second puppy I decided to go back to them because they are friendly and nice and are generally able to work around your schedule for making visits. I love the staff and feel comfortable chating with them about both my dogs and they are able to help me with most situations and if not they have pointed me in a direction that is helpful. Im sure you can find other places that are better in other regards ie cheaper, bigger, what have you but I prefer to have people that know my name and my dogs name when I see them and be treated correctly. I thank them every time I go in and have yet to disappointed with a visit. Read Less

Mikey, our Schnauzer, was nervous after entering the reception area & tried to bolt for the door. Getting weighed, while shaking, takes a bit of time and then to find out he needs to lose 3 pounds was not what he wanted to hear. He loves what we eat. Once we got into the exam room & everyone was so gentle & caring, Mikey was soon at ease. Poking, prodding, glass eased up his heinie & all the kindness extended as he received a couple of shots, went just fine. I brought my large red nose pitbull in to this clinic to update his vaccinations and microchip him. They catered to my dog's specific needs and treated him with much love and respect. Although my large pup has aggression/protection issues and demonstrated such to the male veterinarian immediately upon confrontation, they had no issues calming him and respecting his boundaries until he was comfortable with them. The vet was extremely knowledgable yet personable in every aspect of the visit, and was very helpful in referring me to a temperament trainer who was also a pitbull owner. I expected a rather difficult visit to the vet, but it turned out to be quite enjoyable. I highly recommend this animal clinic to anyone searching for a quality, friendly atmosphere and a vet treats your pet as an individual. Read Less

Started coming here for our older dog's incontinent issues because of their special deal for new patients. Since then, we have fallen in love with them. We showed up late to pick up a prescription and they were already closed but someone was working on the garden out front. She let us in to get our dog's medication even though she didn't have to. I started using Jefferson Animal Clinic Due to its proximity to my house. It was nice to be able to walk my dog there and calm her down a bit. That said I'm glad I gave them a shot because they have been great with my 2 year old pitbull, despite her "energetic" and excitable temperament. The doctors and the veterinary techs are friendly and knowledgable and much more willing to spend time answering our questions and making sure my dog is healthy then our previous vet which incidentally came at a higher price. The receptionist has always been helpful too and managed to squeeze us in today for a last minute bordetella shot. I would strongly recommend trying out this vet especially if you live in the Olde Town Arvada area. It makes sense to support our local businesses when they support us. Read Less
