Have been here three times. Once for a pup who was having diarrhea, another when my dog needed to have an exam and once when we found a dog roaming a back road and took him to be scanned for a chip. The first time, the staff was very nice and genuinely interested in helping make our pup better. Second time, they were kind of rude and rushed us through and I didn't really get to discuss any of my concerns. The third time, being as how it was the closest place to us, we decided to go there once again, and they were actually helpful with the whole process as I didn't have any idea what to do with this dog that we found out in the middle of nowhere but couldn't just leave him. Guess it just depends on who you deal with or if maybe they are having a bad day because I've had both good and bad experiences here. Have decided not to make it my go to for my dog though because it is very pricey. For what they charge just for a visit, I was able to get my dog, 3 yr rabies shot as well as the other shots she needed elsewhere. The office is clean and tidy, has a good waiting area, and they are nice to your fur babies, (even if they are rude to you). So all in all, If it weren't so expensive, I would probably make it our go to vet. Oh, I do have one big negative thing to add though, the parking really sucks. For what I was going there for (my dog of almost 6 years had to be put down), I had such a great experience here at Special Friends a few months back, and would recommend them to everyone! Am not one to give reviews but this came up as a recommendation and I was reminded of my experience. About a year ago we moved into the area, we had recently become aware that our dog that we had taken in from some aquaintences was peeing blood so we took her in right away. Turns out she had a stone in her bladder. The vet told us that medication would be enough to disolve the stone and she would pee it out. Turns out 2 months after we initially took her in, the stone had actually gotten bigger! This is $1,000 later, with the lab tests and medication. All the vet told us was that sometimes it didn't work! And of course right away they had the other agreement ready to sign for a $2,500 surgery! I walked out furious, not only because it didn't work but because our Luna had been suffering for an unnecessary 2 months. Took her in to Planned Pethood the next day, scheduled her surgery and did it right away all for a total of $650! Maybe this place is good for small check ups, but for big things they will try to squeeze every penny they can. Read Less

On the way to Alameda East with my dog who was in respiratory crisis I stopped here and they gave her some oxygen and some Lasix to kind of tank her up a little bit so I could continue on my journey( had they had the specialty oxygen tank that she needed I would have let them continue treatment) I truly believe had these wonderful people not helped me my dog wouldn't never made it so a heartfelt thank you Read Less

People were friendly but not professional. Didn't helped my poor dog at all I had to take my dog to the animal hospital cause this people didn't even know how to read the bloodtest results. They were super friendly and polite, just got my dog from the shelter. They did her checkup and got her going with a few shots she was missing. Also had their groomer trim her paws with out an appointment which was great (she needed it) defiantly be using their services. Read Less
