On May 10th 2018, I made the excruciating decision to have my sweet girl put to sleep. She had cancer that had only been diagnosed three weeks before. It spread so quickly and had gone into her lung, She was 11 years old. We arranged for Dr. Kizer to come out to our place. My other half and I had never met Dr. Kizer but we wanted someone who would come to our home so Pearl could pass in peace here and not at a vet's office. As the day progressed several friends and family members arrived to be with us and to see Pearl off, there were seven of us (two left the area when the vet arrived) Dr Kizer arrived around 5:30 (she had scheduled around 5pm). Pearl, who had been lethargic all day, ran over to greet her at her car. My other half met her there. My sister then noticed that Dr.Kizer had given Pearl the first of her two shots at her car! I was floored! She didn't even come over to introduce herself to me first. There was no sitting down to explain what was going to happen. My other half carried Pearl over to the blanket on the grass and that was when she finally introduced herself and asked why we were putting Pearl down. I was already distraught because I felt blindsided by her giving the first shot prior to any consultation with ME. So, when it came time to give Pearl the second shot that stops her heart, Dr Kizer missed her vein...twice. She had to get up and prepare a second vial of injection. During that time, Pearl began to sufficate, gag, and wheeze. The drug that made her sleepy also made it so she couldn't breath with the effort she needed to before. I was horrified! When I asked Dr. Kizer just what was happening she just said "You don't understand, she doesn't know what is happening". I replied "I do!!" Dear God, I will NEVER get those final moments out of my mind...ever. I felt horrible for Pearl AND for everyone else that was there to witness this disaster. When Pearl finally got the injection for the third time, it was effective. Dr. Kizer NEVER showed any compassion to me. She only mentioned that for an additional $15 I can get a paw print made. When my other half picked up Pearl's ashes, Dr Kizer reminded him again that Pearl hadn't felt anything.
It took me a month to write this because I wanted to be as objective as I could, this is what happened. I would NEVER take any pet to her again and would NEVER recommend her to anyone. Read Less
