Dr. Booth,
We feel that Alpenglow exploited us for our money and did not care for our sick dog in a professional or respectful manner that resulted in an early death of a dog less than one year of age.
You recently treated our golden doodle, Neo; unsuccessfully. You and your associate, Dr. Carolyn Andrews conducted many expensive tests and procedures to determine what may be the causative factor for Neo’s illness yet we never were told of any potential diagnosis.
We brought him to the clinic on Saturday, September 7th and removed him on Monday, September 9th when we were informed that he would need to be transported to a Longmont clinic. We were not informed that he may need to be transferred to the Longmont clinic until Sunday evening and in addition that he would need to be picked up at 6 am on Monday.
After picking up Neo on Monday morning, we took him to Arvada Animal Urgent Care. The veterinarian examined him and confided with her staff, they conducted a few inexpensive, routine blood tests while providing palliative care; after less than half a day of care, they informed us that they strongly suspected Neo had Parvovirus.
I reviewed the disease on the internet and every one of the symptoms described and listed for the disease matched Neo’s symptoms and condition. I asked the vet, how could Neo have the disease when he had been immunized? The vet said that sometimes immunization does not take.
I must say, that I am bitter that he was not diagnosed by Alpenglow’s Clinic before it was too late to render effective palliative care. My question for you so that I can understand your perspective, is why didn’t the clinic suspect Parvovirus or other hemorrhagic viral disease much earlier when Neo displayed all of the classical conditions. Furthermore, when I spoke with more experienced dog owners and was describing the symptoms, before I mentioned any possible diagnosis, they already mentioned that it sounded like Parvovirus. Read Less
