Arapahoe Animal Hospital has been serving clients, pets, and our community since 1954, and was originally located a few blocks west of our present Main Hospital location at 55th and Arapahoe.
In 1969, AAH moved to its present Main Hospital location at 5585 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder. In those early days, our Main Hospital location was surrounded by open fields!
In 2007, we opened Arapahoe Animal Hospital — Downtown, our second convenient hospital location, at 1730 15th Street, Boulder, in the Downtown/Pearl Street Mall area between Arapahoe Ave. and Canyon Blvd. Our two hospitals share the same pet information data base and superb staff — and both have ample on-site parking.
Today, Arapahoe Animal Hospital is a four-doctor, state-of-the-art veterinary facility, serving clients at two convenient Boulder locations. We provide complete and advanced Veterinary Medical, Dental, and Surgical Services for small animals, birds, and exotics — and are open to serve you 7 days a week, offering day and evening hours.
Our Main Hospital is located on one full acre of tree-shaded land, with over 1/3-acre dedicated to outdoor exercise and play yards for our canine Boarders and Doggie Day Care participants. We offer Kennel and Pet Boarding for ALL small animals, birds, and exotics — and a “home away from home” for your pet when you are away!
We offer an outstanding Doggie Day Care program 7 days a week! — providing socialization, exercise, and canine fun, under the supervision of our caring staff. I have had many dogs in my life, and many vets and this one is the hands down worst I’ve been to.
Every time I leave there I feel absolutely ripped off and feel as though they did NOTHING for my dog....
I have had many dogs in my life, and many vets and this one is the hands down worst I’ve been to.
Every time I leave there I feel absolutely ripped off and feel as though they did NOTHING for my dog. There was a period of time where I was transitioning my dogs food in a desperate attempt to get him to gain weight, and they actually made it worse. He was getting extremely sick from from the food, and losing even more weight and I had hit a point where I didn’t know what to do. They told me to give him probiotics with his food to help him keep it down, but it only made him more sick and made him lose more weight. They then told me it was his anxiety and put him on trazadone. He then still was sick, and extremely drowsy. After calling multiple times, crying, and making more appointments I would have spent any amount of money and done anything to make my dog better. Which I’m assuming they realized because they then reccomended a vet prescribed food that was beyond expensive.
After calling my vet from back home, and after spending an arm and a leg, I was told to stop all the medication and take him off the probiotics and that they were only making it worse. He then called me in a dog food (to Arapahoe animal hospital) that was easy on his stomach and would help him gain weight. He was better a few days later.
However this does not apply to one doctor, I believe Dr. Serta.? He was so pleasant and consoled all of my concerns. While I did not see him during the fiasco with the change of food, I had seen him multiple times before and he was always accurate and great. If you chose this vet request him, because he’s the best one.

Since moving to Boulder, we were nervous about finding a vet. Arapahoe Animal Hospital is close to our home so we decided to go with them for our chihuahua's annual vaccinations. We were very pleased with our visit. Every employee there is very kind and good with animals. Ever since then we have left our dog with them for boarding and he absolutely loves it there. This is the first vet our dog actually gets excited to visit. We usually meet with Dr. Cerda and he is always very professional and thorough about explaining to us what our dog needs and exactly what procedures will entail. We recently had our dog's teeth cleaned and had him neutered at the same time. Dr. Cerda explained everything in advance that would happen and the procedure went really well. After the surgery, Dr. Cerda called to tell us how it went and let us know that if we had any questions to please call. I've never had a vet that was so engaged with the customers. Also, the next day, a vet tech called to follow up to make sure that our dog was recovering well and making sure that he was successfully taking medicine, eating well, and not having issues eliminating. We have a great relationship with this veterinarian and we are very thankful to have someone who seems to care as much about our pup as we do.

I would give this place a negative rating if I could. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!Our 3 year old dog had been limping for a few days and she wasn't getting better so we took her in for an exam. The staff was nice, but when we got into the exam room the vet tech, or someone who wasn't the doctor, started telling us about how it could be 'such-and-such' issue and how she might need surgery and that runs around $2,000. Completely out of line of her to be giving her opinion! And it only freaked my boyfriend and myself out more. Which, being in that situation where you want your 'child' to just get better, these people COMPLETELY took advantage of that. The doctor recommended x-rays, which in my gut I absolutely knew wouldn't show anything of value because it was an issue with her leg muscles (most likely just pulled), but, of course, there is always that .01% chance, so we agreed to the $120 for the X-Ray.Bill should have been ~$170 max between the X-ray and visit, but when we checked out it had skyrocketed to over $400!!!!!! They tried to nickel and dime us for numerous things that we never agreed to/were never discussed. COMPLETELY unethical. These people are absolute crooks. Make sure to always go with your gut! Our dog ended up on $20 pain meds and in 2 days was completely fine. They would have had my respect and future business had they just been realistic that all she needed were some pain meds, and if that didn't work we could have taken her back in.Never would I EVER recommend this place.

We have been taking our animals to Arapahoe Animal Hospital in Boulder for over 12 years. Great staff, excellent doctors and our dogs are always happy to go to day care, have their check-ups, and board over night. Our animals leave just as happy as when they stay. No change in behavior. Our golden is so happy to play there that he falls over whinning with excitement in the middle of the floor, then drags the assistant down the hall to go play with the other dogs (we refer to his dramatics as Mr. Drama). Our smaller dog wags her tail and enjoys both the anticipation of going to play and then is just as happy when I return to pick her up. Our cat actually doesn't fear the vet and does very well.

I have a wonderful dog that has always been TERRIFIED of the vet, and I've always found this specific clinic to be helpful, caring, and honest. After my dog was bit above the eye by another dog, Dr. Myers and the vet assistants were all very gentle with her and were able to calm her down and clean her up without having to sedate her (which was great for several reasons). And then our clearly explained how her wound would heal (it was kinda tricky being right above the eye) and what he thought would be best, and he went over costs and benefits and everything. In the end we left with stitches, a cone collar, antibiotics, and one happy pup. I thought we were charged fairly compared to prices I had read online, although the vet always ends up being a tad pricey (it was about $175, but i was reading about estimates as high as $500). And now a few days after being bit her eye looks leagues better and we couldn't be happier.

I asked for the price when I arrived, $120. I SHOULD HAVE LOOKED AT YELP FIRST!!! Came back an hour later and the bill was up to $350, I insisted that I made it clear to him I was not wanting to spend a lot of money, just an xray. He did some laser things, some steroid shots and not sure what else. I said I would only pay for the xray and office visit. Then the lady tried to charge me $139 for the xray. I told her no way, it is $120.If I had read Yelp, and also the filtered review, I would never have gone there. NO STARS.

I can't recommend Arapahoe Animal Hospital strongly enough. I absolutely love the staff and the vets. I have an older cat (she's 18) with kidney failure and last year and the year before she kept trying to die on me. The vets nursed her back to health each time in their state of the art 24 hour hospital and now she still enjoys life, runs around the house, leaps on the bed and has been healthy for a year. I was able to visit her every day and every evening, even at the weekend and the staff were very supportive.

What a great place. The staff is so friendly and so knowledgable. The staff was nice, but when we got into the exam room the vet tech, or someone who wasn't the doctor, started telling us about how it could be 'such-and-such' issue and how she might need surgery and that runs around $2,000. Completely out of line of her to be giving her opinion! And it only freaked my boyfriend and myself out more. Which, being in that situation where you want your 'child' to just get better, these people COMPLETELY took advantage of that. The doctor recommended x-rays, which in my gut I absolutely knew wouldn't show anything of value because it was an issue with her leg muscles (most likely just pulled), but, of course, there is always that .01% chance, so we agreed to the $120 for the X-Ray.Bill should have been ~$170 max between the X-ray and visit, but when we checked out it had skyrocketed to over $400!!!!!! They tried to nickel and dime us for numerous things that we never agreed to/were never discussed. COMPLETELY unethical. These people are absolute crooks. Make sure to always go with your gut! Our dog ended up on $20 pain meds and in 2 days was completely fine. They would have had my respect and future business had they just been realistic that all she needed were some pain meds, and if that didn't work we could have taken her back in.Never would I EVER recommend this place.

We have been taking our animals to Arapahoe Animal Hospital in Boulder for over 12 years. Great staff, excellent doctors and our dogs are always happy to go to day care, have their check-ups, and board over night. Our animals leave just as happy as when they stay. No change in behavior. Our golden is so happy to play there that he falls over whinning with excitement in the middle of the floor, then drags the assistant down the hall to go play with the other dogs (we refer to his dramatics as Mr. Drama). Our smaller dog wags her tail and enjoys both the anticipation of going to play and then is just as happy when I return to pick her up. Our cat actually doesn't fear the vet and does very well.

I have a wonderful dog that has always been TERRIFIED of the vet, and I've always found this specific clinic to be helpful, caring, and honest. After my dog was bit above the eye by another dog, Dr. Myers and the vet assistants were all very gentle with her and were able to calm her down and clean her up without having to sedate her (which was great for several reasons). And then our clearly explained how her wound would heal (it was kinda tricky being right above the eye) and what he thought would be best, and he went over costs and benefits and everything. In the end we left with stitches, a cone collar, antibiotics, and one happy pup. I thought we were charged fairly compared to prices I had read online, although the vet always ends up being a tad pricey (it was about $175, but i was reading about estimates as high as $500). And now a few days after being bit her eye looks leagues better and we couldn't be happier.

(Be sure to also read the 1 filtered review) Since it was snowing hard today I did not drive to my usual vet, who is a bit farther away and I just needed an xray of my cats tail, which appears to be broken. I asked for the price when I arrived, $120. I SHOULD HAVE LOOKED AT YELP FIRST!!! Came back an hour later and the bill was up to $350, I insisted that I made it clear to him I was not wanting to spend a lot of money, just an xray. He did some laser things, some steroid shots and not sure what else. I said I would only pay for the xray and office visit. Then the lady tried to charge me $139 for the xray. I told her no way, it is $120.If I had read Yelp, and also the filtered review, I would never have gone there. NO STARS.

I can't recommend Arapahoe Animal Hospital strongly enough. I absolutely love the staff and the vets. I have an older cat (she's 18) with kidney failure and last year and the year before she kept trying to die on me. The vets nursed her back to health each time in their state of the art 24 hour hospital and now she still enjoys life, runs around the house, leaps on the bed and has been healthy for a year. I was able to visit her every day and every evening, even at the weekend and the staff were very supportive.
