Although he doesn't like shots one bit, my Puggle, Rumple, loves going to Broadway Animal Hospital because all the techs and vets are fun and friendly and put him at ease (those treats help, too!). With his medical record fresh in their heads, Rumple always gets caring, personalized, professional care. Follow up is always prompt and thorough. The health and comfort of our cat was clearly not a top priority. After stabbing him repeatedly with a needle attempting to get blood, they simply gave up and sent us home with pain medication and an antibiotic. The wound was barely examined, hardly LOOKED at, let alone given the time and attention needed to make an accurate diagnosis or even basic idea as to what may have caused the injury. Not only that, they didn’t bother to clean or bandage his poor bleeding paw. 4 days later our beloved kitty’s paw is clearly infected, he has a fairly high fever, and is in blatantly apparent pain. We obviously elected not to return to Broadway Animal Hospital and instead were able to get a last minute appointment at Arapahoe, where the service was great, the value of customers and true concern and care for our pets was above and beyond apparent. We will not be returning to Broadway. Although the vets and nurses were personable and polite, they clearly did not have our cat’s best interest at heart. Read Less

Take exam and give vaccine on your dog without noticing you and then charge you when you pick up your dog. They don't even ask you if they can do this, they just did it. Very bad experience, will never come again. Read Less

Our malamute girl Chena loves going to daycare and occasional boarding here. She has so much fun playing with the other pups and gets lots of affection and TLC from the staff. We just moved to Firestone and we were looking for an animal hospital that would be within our budget for pet teeth cleaning.  Our six year old chihuahua mix Sammie had really bad breath and we wanted to have her teeth cleaned.  Broadway Animal Hospital had the most competitive price for a dental exam, blood screen, and wellness exam.  We were greeted with professionalism from the front of the clinic to the back, like we were patrons from the day they opened and Dr. Alt was amazing!  She walked me through the whole process prior to surgery as well as the follow up.  Gretchen Luegers was impressive as well, very attentive to Sammie,  as if that was her own dog that went through surgery.  She made a follow-up call the next morning to check on the condition of "her dogs condition"!  They took pictures as if it was one of there pets, which put my husband and I at ease.  Dr. Alt took the time to take us in the back room to show us x-rays of Sammie's mouth.  We had no idea that she was in such poor conditions!  We felt soo grateful they took the time and attention to her health needs as if it was one of there own.  Kudos to this animal hospital and pet center!  We will definitely be back for future visits with our little ones. I have had nothing but a great experience at Broadway Animal Hospital with my cat and puppy. The front staff, techs and doctors have all been very helpful. Dr. Alt goes above and beyond and is by far the best vet that I have ever had. She always has my pets best interests in mind and never up sells anything. She provides me choices, explains everything clearly and answers all of my questions without making me feel rushed.  I have only seen Dr. Woods one time and he was also just as great. Both doctors provide reasoning based on research as to why they are choosing medications or taking certain paths for my animals medical needs. I feel confident sending both of my animals there for medical appointments and for boarding. I have had awful experiences in the past with other vets who over charge, recommend unnecessary treatments or just don't really seem to care much about my animal past a short appointment. I brought my cat here because he had been limping around and being really lethargic. Dr. Lee was fantastic and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a vet to treat cats. The Vet Tech was very helpful as well and they both treated the cat like he was a person, not just another animal. My cat ended up getting an X-ray, Blood work, and a steroid shot which was all VERY reasonably priced. Dr. Lee gave me all the information needed to make my own decisions on which tests I wanted to have done and didn't push me one way or the other. This Veterinary clinic is absolutely wonderful and treats their patients as if they were their own pet. Everything was clean and they have a very nice waiting room with water and coffee. The vet was kind,caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and professional. We faced a very difficult decision of having to euthanize our beloved Golden Retriever. They helped make a difficult decision easier. I can't think of anything they could have done better. The vet knew it was time for us to say goodbye to her, and they helped us thru the entire process in a kind and caring manner. The vet was informative and honest regarding how bad her medical situation was. Even though it was not the outcome I had hoped for, I'm so grateful for their kindness and compassion in helping us let go of our beloved pet with caring and dignity. This review is for the front desk staff only. A disclaimer: both vets, Dr. Woods and Dr. Kalenzi, are fantastic, and all of the vet techs I have dealt with are great too.My dog suddenly began acting really strange a few weeks ago on a Friday morning, when I was leaving for work. Her balance was completely off, and she began throwing up, and acting like she couldn't breathe. I of course panicked and immediately got her in the car and drove to Broadway Animal Hospital, about 5 minutes from my house. I get there and my dog is getting worse and worse, and the girl at the front desk is shuffling papers around acting like she's doing something for a few minutes before she even acknowledges me. When I explain that something is really wrong with my dog, she looks annoyed and says she can't possibly get her in for an appointment. She tells me I can just leave my dog there and maybe they will get around to looking at her. As this was obviously not a good solution, she just shrugged and told me I could go to an emergency vet or something. She could absolutely not be bothered and showed no shred of decency to me or my dog who was rapidly declining. I just left and didn't even say anything.Thankfully, a phenomenal vet down the street immediately had us seen, and even had their vet race in to come see her, as it was just before their business hours. Long story short, the new vet, South Boulder Animal Hospital, saved my dog's life because of a rare brain illness, and the receptionist at Broadway Animal Hospital clearly did not have any compassion, people skills, sense of urgency and was completely and utterly incompetent.Though the vets here are outstanding, I will be taking my dogs elsewhere from now on, because I just can't take the risk with their lives, by putting them in the hands of their office staff. To sum up in a nutshell, this clinic has great veterinarians - -Dr. Kalenzi and Dr. Woods. They have been wonderful with a variety of our animals, from dogs and cats to rats. One vet, no longer there, actually probably saved our first dog's life with her diagnostic skills. (A rare tick-borne illness...)The doctors will call you to discuss diagnoses on their own personal time, which I have really appreciated. The Vet techs are great too, and very caring.However, they are expensive and will --as other have written -- try to "upsell", ie tack on other services, meds, etc. That is the front desk. We left and went to other clinics/vets for some time, then for various reasons came back. The front desk has improved. The earlier staff wasn't as "service-oriented" or personable as the staff there now.The other point I should make is that I haven't used their boarding facilities and really can most recommend their vet/healthcare services.  Our dog (now passed away, sadly) didn't like it -- shook like a leaf and begged not to be left. I suppose it was due to it being a clinic as well as daycare, and she could smell/sense the fear, or illness, etc.? In any case, she loved another doggy day care in town that is strictly daycare. (Camp Bow Wow) I would recommend them for the good vet care, help with a variety of cases and needs, and Dr. Kalenzi and Dr. Woods' kindliness. Read Less

Dr. Kalenzi treats my dogs like family. I think the boarding staff really care about the animals. I once took my dogs elsewhere to board because I was trying to save money and that was a big mistake! My dogs got ill at the other place and it ended up costing me more than if I had just stuck with Dr. Woods and Kalenzi. My dogs are oldies now and I wouldn't trust leaving them to anyone else. Used their daycare services for a few days on a roadtrip. From the moment I called to set up appointment, the staff was person and dog friendly. My dog is very anxious about leaving my side -- she's a Weimaraner -- and when I handed the attendant her leash, dog put her head down and followed the attendant with her tail (what there is of a tail) between her legs. But when I picked her up later in the day, she seemed happy and tired. She had a good day! The attendants really care about animals. I'm glad my dog was cared for by them. I chose this clinic because I live close and I'm SO grateful I found them.  Dr. Kalenzi is my vet and he's the only vet I trust in the area (and Dr. Woods). He really listens to my concerns and thoroughly answers any questions I have.  Before he does anything he goes over the cost before doing it to get my approval.  There have been other clinics in the area that just do things without my permission and then I'm stuck with a $400 bill. They don't do unnecessary treatments just to make a buck.  Even when Dr. Kalenzi wasn't working on a Sunday, he made himself available to me to talk with any questions when my kitty had an emergency.  I saw Dr. Woods a few weeks ago and he was equally amazing.  Very thorough, answered all my questions, went over cost before doing it so I wasn't surprised. These guys have the cheapest boarding in town, but I'm really starting to see that you get what you pay for in this arena. 1) They up-sell like mad. We alway, ALWAYS, get a call about some unnecessary vaccine or test they want to administer. We checked with our regular vet (Dr. Brockmann @ Boulder's Natural Animal - a total gem!) about some of the things Broadway requests and she backed up our gut feeling that these things were just unnecessary. 2) The dog comes home smelly, ill-mannered and sick. We don't have a barky dog, and maybe he would come home from ANY kennel a loud-mouth, I don't know, but it's really obnoxious and takes a couple weeks to straighten out again. Maybe it's just dog B.O. or maybe they don't swap out the towels often enough, but he reeks to high heaven when he comes home. But worst of all, and entirely on the shoulders of Broadway, is that he comes home sick, despite having all the required vaccinations - both the sensible and the unnecessary. He's come home with both kennel cough and mange (which he gave to our indoor cat, poor thing), which were both costly and uncomfortable for everyone involved.3) They have one receptionist (sadly she shares my name, If I recall) who talks in super condescending baby talk. She does it on the phone and in-person and to everyone - so at least she's equal opportunity condescending. I felt terrible for the person she was talking to on the phone the last time I was there. I find Dr. Patrick to be the most sincere and thoughtful veterinarians I have visited over many years in Boulder - which does not diminish my respect for the other excellent vets our family had seen. He takes time to know the pet and understand the family, and remembers us each time I come in. Frankly, I find his cautious use of tests,using best judgment based on experience and discretion over routinely ordering expensive testing to be a value. This is a couple of months overdue, but nonetheless very important to write.Long story short, I was looking for a local vet (as our current vet is 45 min away in Lakewood).  I had read good things about this animal hospital and Dr. Lee Woods, so I booked an appointment when one of my dogs needed some medical attention.  Long story short, my dog had an infection from a bite. Without even looking at the "site", Dr. Woods concluded that it was a hot spot and needed to be treated as such, with a procedure to include bringing him home with a drain(and costing $600).I was not comfortable with his diagnosis, so I called my current vet to run things by him. First off, my vet had never heard of such a thing-to treat a hot spot with a drain?? Secondly, Dr. Woods never took the time to look at the site where the wound was.Thirdly, my vet from Lakewood ended up calling in a prescription for an antibiotic and my dog was fine within 2 days.So....I could have paid over $600 for a procedure that my dog did not need...or $15 for a prescription that healed his wound.I would never, ever go back to this facility. Do not take your pet to Broadway Animal Hospital. My cat, Oscar, could have died if i had taken the advice of Dr. Patrick Kalenzi. After returning from vacation, I noticed that Oscar had gotten into my suitcase and we think ate some ibuprofen at 5 am. I took Oscar to the ER and the vet recommended 48 hours of IV fluids to flush his system. Because the ER is closed during normal business hours, I then took Oscar to Patrick Kalenzi (Broadway Animal Hospital) who indicated that he would treat Oscar and I would be able to take him home that same day. I was surprised by the conflicting treatment options, and so I contacted several cat specialists for peace of mind. They all immediately agreed with the ER vet. I also learned that, because it is so common for pets to consume ibuprofen, the Animal Poison Control Center issued a statement with very clear guidelines on how to treat pets suspected of ingesting ibuprofen. When I confronted Patrick, he indicated that he was concerned about the high cost of treatment (even though I never brought up the subject), and stated that he was giving my cat the care he would give his own because he ""takes these things lightly."" He then used an analogy to describe his care for Oscar, stating ""your dentist tells you to see him once every six months. I go to a dentist every couple of years or so. That's just me. Other people might go more frequently."" This way of thinking is seriously flawed and below the standard of care a reasonable person would expect from a vet. After living in Broomfield for over ten years, Broadway Animal Hospital is the only place I will bring my pets for visits and boarding. Dr. Lee Woods and Dr Patrick Kalenzi are the most knowledgeable vets in Colorado. I have had large procedures and simple check ups for my pets and I know that they are in great hands. Secondly, the doctors and the receptionists always remind me what and when my pets are due for vaccinations or cleanings. They have made my life and my pets lives more happy and comfortable. Being new to the area, I was VERY anxious about finding a new vet for my 2 large dogs. I was referred to Broadway Animal and in the chaos of getting them in for their first appts, forgot their records. The staff was very helpful and contacted our old Vet so I wasn't charged for anything I didn't need. The techs (Jackie & Jenny) are so warm & gentle with our dogs. It became VERY apparent this was a good fit when we were in the consult room with Dr. Patrick and my dogs laid down (this NEVER happens at the Vet - or around strangers for that matter!) We have since taken advantage of Daycare as well and Mallory is very aware of all the temperments and behaviors of each dog and does a great job of matching them up for playtime.
