Good vet very informative!! I seen a poor old lady come in who had a cat with kidney issues when I seen how much they was charging her for a special diet food I kinda got upset it was like 40 for 12 small can's!! So there prices are high!! Besides that I have nothing but good things too say! I'd highly recommend if you're in the market too buy a pet especially off of a private breeder you take the animal here and have assessment done before u pay a dime! If I would of done this I would of saved myself a huge headache and I wouldn't of fell in love with a puppy with tons of expensive issues!! Go here they Kno there stuff! Read Less

Both vets and the vet techs are very kind and helpful. They take the extra time to answer questions and the low-cost, budget friendly clinic is exactly what we need. I called in for advice when my cat was having tummy issues and Susan was amazing! My cat was back to normal in just a few days and he looked SO much better. Wish I would have called earlier! Great experience! They were able to see us the same day I called and were super friendly when we came in. The vet tech and the doctor both were excellent and took the time to listen to us and our dog's symptoms. They answered all our questions and didn't make us feel rushed. When our dog needed more exams to diagnose her, the doctor went over the cost of both options and even explained when things weren't 100% necessary. We really appreciated being told so upfront what the cost would be. It was much more affordable than we thought, for a little over $200 they examined her, took x-rays and gave us a week's worth of pain medication. We will definitely come back! Read Less

There are many special veterinarians in Boulder, but in my experience, Dr. Fuller is the best. I've lived in Boulder for over 14 years and have never been without an adopted animal, so I've toured the local circuit of providers. What I like about Petmenders is the honesty, sincerity, and realistic recommendations. Additionally, they have very reasonable prices, go the extra mile when caring for my dog...like trimming his nails when he's anesthetized for a different procedure...and are very down to earth people. Finally, I completely trust Dr. Fuller. He's a very talented vet, doesn't speak in medical jargon, and never rushes me out. I always enjoy speaking with him. He's also very patient with my scaredy cat, 100 lb american bulldog. (I've had one or two experiences with Dr. Russell as well and he is great too caring, straightforward, and honest.) It's very rare I leave a business and feel as well taken care of as I do when I leave Pet Menders. I fully endorse and highly recommend Pet Menders.Read Less

I would never walk into this place again! I wish I had written this years ago. I hope that if you are looking to do surgery on your dog,  you will read this and not do it with Dr. Fuller. I had my dog have a double knee surgery. I was assured that he would be fine. He was about one year old with both knees torn from running around with his mom. Dr. Fuller assured me it would be fine. After the surgery, one knee healed up fine. On the other leg his knee was fine but his foot was turning over and he was dragging it. I called many times and they told me to do water therapy. That didn't help a bit. We went into to dr. Fuller three times and each time he kept saying to my husband and I "I don't know what happened, I don't know what happened." the typical response some one would say if he didn't want to be sued for mal-practice. We even went in and asked if he would go in and look at Moose's knee and see what was happening. He told us he would charge us another $700...and still said "Duh, I don't know what happened.". My dog Moose still limps and his entire leg is turned out for good. What gets me is that I know that things go wrong. I know that mistakes happen, but Dr. Fuller never apologized, never took responsibility for Moose's lameness and never said he would do some thing about it. That really ticks me off. Now every time I walk with Moose and I see his back foot limping along, I wish that I had warned people about this arrogant doctor. I am finally saying some thing! Read Less

Let me say a few things about Pet Menders that should have been said a long time ago. First there few chances in life when a person finds themselves in the midst of people who are genuine and go out of their way in offering help to people and pets in need at the most critical times. I have been to many vets in the past and there little to criticize as to the services provided. The staff @ Pet Menders understands all too well the emotions that are affecting each pet owner who enters. . Those emotions can and do reveal much about the pet owner and time and again are shared by the attending staff @ Pet Menders. Dr. Fuller, Dr. Russell, Sue Ash, Heather Dillon, Eleanor Cordy, Susan Honeycutt and Lesley McGill are individuals who step forward knowing there is more than the physical to be cared for. I have seen it first hand - the empathy. Pet Menders' staff has exemplary skills in applying medical care and articulating to the pet owner, what is needed - difficult when emotions are compromising rational thinking. What is amazing is that the staff has included me in the actual treatments of my cherished pets i.e. surgery etc while explaining what is being done using understandable terms. This education @ Pet Menders is far and above the call of duty. The thing is, with Pet Menders it is much more than a duty, it's personal. These are quality individuals that are appreciated. We've moved to Chicago and have yet to find a vet as phenomenal as Dr. Fuller. He treated us as much as Gable! Sadly, we lost Gable to cancer, but Dr. Fuller kept him as happy and comfortable as possible and walked us through what we could expect so that we were prepared. Some time later, we adopted Mose, who had issues with his hip dislocating. Dr. Fuller, again, helped us understand what was happening and the options. He performed hip stabilization surgery on Mose and he's been doing great ever since!Dr. Fuller and his staff were so caring to us and our pets. I love Dr. Russell! He's so good with my puppy Jasper while not babying him at all. We went there for all his puppy shots and every time it's been so quick that Jasper didn't even have time to realize something scary was happening. He's not afraid of him in the least. Also, Dr. Russell was happy to answer all my questions with both his personal and professional opinions. He told me all the facts about having Jasper neutered, including how some people do it as young as 4 months and some studies say they have better health if you wait until they're almost 2 years old. He finished by giving me his personal opinion which is to have it done at 6 months, so now I feel like I have all the information and can make an informed decision on my own. He won't chew you out for not feeding your dog "grain-free" or "raw" or treating them with people food like some people in Boulder will. He also told me that there's no perfect answer when it comes to using positive reinforcement vs discipline to correct behavior. It's refreshing to meet a professional who's both incredibly knowledgeable and humble at the same time. All in all, Jasper had a fine time, I learned a lot, and it wasn't too expensive. Oh, and I came out of there confident that I was doing a good job raising my pup, so that's definitely a huge plus as well!EDIT: The only thing I wish they had which they don't is that they won't see small animals and exotics! It's purely cats and dogs, so when I needed a vet for my pet rats I was forced to go somewhere more expensive where they didn't seem like they knew as much. If I could I would much rather take them here! Read Less

I suspect one of the truest standards for evaluating a veterinarian is how he/she handles end-of-life issues with our beloved companion animals.  When we finally realized that our darling Pomeranian, Sadie, was suffering and our most compassionate response was euthanasia, we called Dr. Fuller who we'd been seeing for three years since moving to Boulder.  Dr. Fuller was on his way to a conference that afternoon.  That notwithstanding, he gathered what he needed, including one of his caring staff and came to our home.  He examined Sadie to confirm our decision and then carefully and gently administered the euthanasia medication while we held our little girl in our laps.  He waited to be sure that there was no heartbeat, ruffled her fur affectionately, and left discreetly allowing us to grieve.  He and his assistant had been there for at least 45 minutes.  The entire bill was less than $150 as I recall -- for a HOUSE CALL and an additional staff member.  I don't know how you can ask for any better experience than that.  It's been a year and a half and we still cry for Sadie, and we still give thanks for Dr. Fuller and his staff on that dreadful day. Air headed & unethical like most Boulder businesses. First, the address does not show up on Google maps/ Waze/ other gps systems. Awesome!Second I called twice asking for directions when I was within a mile radius and was given wrong directions twice. Was told to make a right turn where you could only make a left. But OK I get it I can't rely on others to give me directions especially people who go to the place I'm looking for everyday for work. All jokes aside I should have left early and scouted it out and been on time. The one star review goes for being quoted $35 on a bandage. I told the secretary the animal would not be happy and would need sedation. I show up to my appointment and lo and behold instead of $35 to bill is suddenly $95.00 with tax. The doctor seemed nice enough but the secretary is completely incompetent. If I can't be given a straight answer on a price for a simple procedure from the secretary and the same secretary doesn't know left from right I'm not inclined to let the doctor touch my cat. When we took her here by recommendation from a friend, they took the time to carefully explain all of our options and helped us qualify for their program that took care of over half the cost of the surgery. Some of the previous reviews of pet menders gave me pause, but when I moved to Boulder and my dog walking service, The Pet Nanny, recommended three places based on the kind of care we wanted for our dog, and we thought we'd give them a try. I have an eleven year old Saint Bernard that I'm very fond of, and so I appreciated the warm welcome into the office on a Saturday morning and the very thorough exam Dr. Fuller gave my dog. If I could give this place negative stars I would... I brought my puppy in on a Friday with some concerns over dark colored urine and diarrhea. I was told it was probably just a virus and she would be totally fine since her vitals were okay. The vet told me nothing would happen overnight and I could bring her in the next day if she got any worse. Overnight things got dramatically worse. By the time I woke up, my puppy was so weak she couldn't walk and she was breathing very slowly and shallowly. I brought her in to Pet Menders as soon as they opened and they told me I had to wait until 3 o'clock for an appt even though it was clearly an emergency.I immediately brought her to the Emergency Pet Clinic on 30th where she was taken in the moment we got there and I was told she was in critical condition and she might not make it. This clinic called Pet Menders for me to ask why I wasn;t given priority and they had no appropriate answer. The Clinic on 30th took amazing care of my baby and she recovered but she needed 2 blood transfusions and had I waited, she would no longer be with me. DO NOT USE THIS VET. Despite what other reviews they may have, the way they treated me and my dog in what was clearly an urgent case should be enough for you to stay away forever. Read Less

The diagnosis was kidney failure. Our options were: Hospital  IV therapy, Home care injections or euthanasia. The doc and I discussed her expected life after the 2 therapy recommendations. Way over-charged me for dental cleanings on my cats:I was billed for totally unnecessary blood work and urinalysis based on them being 9 years old, and wasn't told ahead of time that they would require those tests. This vet claims they are senior cats at age 7. Really?!? No way. For all the cat companions I've had in my life (10 of them), no vet has ever called any of them seniors until age 12. Most of my cats have lived to be 16-25. The only ones that didn't were either killed by a car or other animal, or ran away (likely they got eaten by owls or coyotes, living in Boulder near open space). One cat had 6 teeth removed. SIX!  Where were the x-rays to prove that was necessary? Even when I asked to see them, I was never shown any. Why hadn't I been called about so many needing to be removed? Oh, because I signed a form saying they could do it. Yes, I had, but I had ALSO said I wanted to be called if more than 1 needed to be removed. No one had tried to call me.Then there were the antibiotics and pain meds for her post-surgery extractions. The bill came to over $800 when I was expecting something around $330.When I said the bill was way more than expected, and WAY more than I could afford, I wasn't told about any Piper Fund for low-income residents. Nope, I was only offered a payment plan. Lastly, the front desk woman was incredibly rude and insensitive towards me and my plight. She said I would need a follow up appointment to check on the cat who had 6 teeth removed. I told her I wouldn't be bringing her back here. And, after they way she (the woman) had just treated me, and that they had not communicated with with me as I had asked them too, you could bet I wasn't going to recommend them to anyone. This vet certainly didn't save me any money. To the contrary, in fact. As for being a no-frills, no BS clinic, I just don't agree with that at all. Read Less

I moved to Boulder in July and soon after my dog developed an eye infection which quickly spread to both eyes. Every morning, there was a little bit of creamy green goo coming out of her eyes and crusting up.... gross!  I waited 2 weeks for it to clear up and then finally decided I should take her to the vet.  This was combined with the fact that she wasn't eating her food for the past two meals so I decided to check it out. I went to Pet Menders because it was within immediate walking distance to my house. Albeit it had few reviews on Yelp, but what few reviews they had were positive so I decided to bring my dog in. Dr. Fuller was friendly. He spent about 15 minutes examining my dog, checking her heartbeat, shining a flashlight in her eyes, etc. I told him that she wasn't eating her food, and that I brought in some scooped poop (they could check for worms, etc, which is typical of going to the vet). But Dr. Fuller brushed it off, and told me to find out when she last had heartworm medicine. 15 minute exam: $48~Tiny tube of Antibiotic ointment (about the size of a little super glue tube): $48~As I left the vet I realized that I just dropped nearly a hundred dollars for in essence, a tiny tube of antibiotic ointment, which, after examining the ingredients, i felt like I could've gotten the same results with some bactricin ointment, which you can get at the drugstore for a few dollars. My dog's eye infection cleared up soon after. :)Bottom line is, I felt gypped. Was it worth paying almost $100 for a tiny tube of ointment and a 15 min. exam that my baby brother could have performed?? Read Less

I have been a client at Petmenders since 1994 and I have the highest regard for Drs. Fuller and Russell and their head ttech Sue. They know how to talk to owners and are very supportive if problems arise and I completely trust them with my pets. However, I just had a very difficult visit, which made me very upset, and the problem was the very part time receptionist. She was cold, prickly, uncaring and she kept stonewalling me on what were reasonable requests and questions. She just put up a wall and I was given no recourse to t alk to someone in charge about what was going wrong. However I was patient and just sat until someone else could talk to me. I brought my cat in for fluids and I just wanted to know if he was in fact still dehydrated. If they were too busy that day I offered to come back another day and she said that would cost me another official office visit. I had to fight to gett an answer. It's never been like that, ever, so beware of the receptionist.y My trust was badly shaken. Read Less

Our cat Puff was in great need of medical care... We had been to see a vet the day before calling Pet Menders and we were left with a desire for someone who genuinely cared about our pet and wanted to help our animal more than wanted to make money. When we found Pet Menders' website we called immediately and were fast put at ease by Jenny, the receptionist. We took Puff in the following day feeling very confident based solely on our phone experience. Dropping Puff off we were greeted by kind people who truly care. Upon picking Puff up after her surgery, Dr. Fuller personally brought her out and spoke with us. Instantly we felt that he genuinely cared about helping our cat and us. Puff has recovered very well and is doing great. Our experience with Pet Menders was exactly what we were hoping to find in the Boulder area. They did what we wanted without any pressure to purchase additional services that were unnecessary at the time. Also, they help people who need it most financially, which is so wonderful to see. Thank you to all who are a part of this great Vet clinic! Read Less

I've taken my dogs and other pets to Pet Menders for many years and have always been treated with respect and dignity. On the Saturdays they hold the Vaccine Clinic (1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from Noon to 2pm), things can get very hectic, so don't expect wine and scones to be handed out with a genteel smile. The place is packed with pets and people and the staff is doing the best they can. The vaccines are at a greatly reduced rate. I recently had to put my elderly Yellow Lab to sleep and the procedure was explained thoroughly and compassionately. There were no problems, and she simply fell asleep. I will continue to go to Pet Menders, not only because they are not out simply to make a buck for a fancy facility, but because they understand that pet care is not just about animals, but about people, too. Dr. Fuller began his practice in the 1980's in Denver and moved to Boulder over 15 years ago. Dr. Russell joined him approximately 5 years ago. They are both skilled in high-level surgical techniques. Dr. Fuller owns the practice and believes in having the highest quality equipment on hand. He has the ability to take dental xrays, do ultrasounds, perform full dental procedures, and has some of the best lab equipment money can buy. Both Dr. Russell and Dr. Fuller are skilled in performing TPLO surgeries. I trust Susan (CVT) and Greg, the vet techs, to handle any procedures required of them and consider all of the staff members my friends at this point. Why not go and see for yourself? Would you recommend a book without reading it? If you are looking for high level efficiency and quality that will also fit in your budget, try Pet Menders. Read Less

Russell as well and he is great too caring, straightforward, and honest.) I would never walk into this place again!

Complete waste of time. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Read Less

We have taken our dogs to Pet Menders for  over 20 years. They are thorough, caring, and kind, and we appreciate their low-cost vaccination clinics. They have also cared for my elderly mother's two cats for about 12 years. Dr. Russell is very patient with my mom, and explains things clearly. He explains the pros and cons of various treatment options, and offer low-cost options, which we greatly appreciate, since my mom  is on a very limited budget. Thank you, Dr. Russell and the Pet Mender's staff, for your caring and expert care for our pets over many years! Read Less

This place was amazing for us. When our dog had to have a major surgery on her knee, we didn't know how we were going to afford it. When we took her here by recommendation from a friend, they took the time to carefully explain all of our options and helped us qualify for their program that took care of over half the cost of the surgery. Everything went smoothly and 4 years later they still follow up to this day. I would recommend this place to anyone who can't necessarily afford the outlandish costs for service and still wants the quality and comfort of a great vet! Read Less

He took time to explain all of the options for her long-term care (aging hips, raspy voice, cataracts) with much patience as my husband and I considered the options. Also, affordable! I feel lucky to have stumbled on Pet Menders particularly as my adored dog ages. Read Less

Read Less

We have taken our 16 year old tabby cat to Pet Menders for the last 10 years or so.When she became very sick recently, we took her in for a diagnosis.Dr Russell was nice and easy to talk with. The diagnosis was kidney failure. Our options were: Hospital  IV therapy, Home care injections or euthanasia. The doc and I discussed her expected life after the 2 therapy recommendations. (Maybe 2 years with the Hospital care.)Our family discussed the options, and decided that euthanasia was the best option for our beloved cat. After the procedure, Doctor Russell told us that we had probably made the correct treatment choice. The charges for 2 visits and blood work were less than $200.
