Dr. Lisa is a very kind and caring vet. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are always willing to help, even if you already owe them money. They are a very busy clinic, which means you may have to wait, even when you have an appointment. But the out come is worth the wait, specially if she was able to save the life of someone's fur baby, that was brought in as an emergency. I highly recommend Eskridge vet clinic. Read Less

Lisa Eskridge is the best vet I could have ever had. She was with me and my gram the whole way. I even went to school with her daughter. Lisa has taught me a few things along the way. Beyond Great......So we had a history with Lisa & Shane taking care of my dog Kain. Kain had been hit by a truck 4 1/2 years ago and it was after business hours when this happened and Lisa was the only vet to call me back. Unfortunately they ended up having to amputate his leg. What I learned from that experience with them is that, they care about the need of the animal, not gouging people's pocket book. Well Kain ended up getting sick last week so I brought him in. They immediately started treatment to figure out what was wrong with him. With test after test they set a plan to get him better. Unfortunately 3 days later he passed away on his own. They took care of kain as if he was there own dog. With a saddened heart, I know that he was taken care of (even spoiled ) in his last days.... Thank you to Lisa , Shane and the rest of staff. I took my Minpin"Pogo" in for an eye infection. They took care of him immediately without an appointment. Then I took my Italian Greyhound in (without an appointment) because his seizure medication was running out. They reviewed Hawk's medical records from previous vet; prescribed the medication and I was able to purchase the medication from the vet. The reservations we've had about the reception & staff at Eskridge has always been outweighed by the compassionate care our dogs receive from Dr. Lisa. We transferred them from vet care in NC to Eskridge 2 years ago. It seems no matter what, we have to fight to be heard & / or we are treated like an inconvenience. We've had concerns for quite some time, but managed to excuse personality & behaviors of the staff. The last 2 visits, (I asked & neither day had emergency situation patients) it felt we & our dogs were again treated in an abrupt manner; on neither day was the clinic busy, there was plenty of staff roaming around... I have voiced my concerns before & get plenty of excuses, always excuses. Yes, Dr. Lisa is great; unfortunately, she isn't always there. So we are looking for another clinic to take our dogs too. Has to be the most caring veterinary clinic we've ever been associated with, in all the years that we've had animals, and across several states (and decades). Our dogs are treated like Lisa's dogs and I have never felt "price gouged", which has indeed happened to us in years past. Unfortunately, I think veterinarians know how attached we are to our fur babies, and they know we will do anything for them, so they take advantage of us & our checkbook when we are at our weakest. I found these guys because they did a shot clinic at a local supply store. They were also offering discount sterilization certificates if paid for then. I was told to get there early as they only were doing so many of these certificates, and I also know that they ran out of them way before I got there but they were still letting people take advantage of the offer. I thought that this was an outstanding service to the community as I am sure they weren't making money on these. Now to the services themselves. I LOVE the staff here and Lisa Eskridge is so wonderful! I asked her questions that I had been shamed for in the past and we had an honest forthright conversation where I didn't feel judged or looked down upon. You can see an obvious love for animals as well as for people! As I sat in the waiting area I witnessed the staff call animals coming in with their owners by name and also Lisa helping owners out to the car with their pets as they carried other things! Also an elderly couple who mentioned an inability to pay at the moment and there wasn't even really a discussion. I actually wondered at one point if they were related to Lisa until that came up. I did get a notice that they are no longer able to offer emergency services which makes me sad as I can't think of anyone else I would want to see my pets in case of an emergency. Long story long... what a blessing this place is! My pets won't be going anywhere else! I should mention that I have gone to one of the other vets in Canon City and I wasn't impressed at all. Lisa Eskridge is very possibly the sweetest, kindest veterinarian anywhere around. She really cares about animals; so much so that many times she will treat them without demanding all the money up front. She is unique among Vets because of her love for animals. She offered to meet me at her office once, on Thanksgiving, when my dachshund was ill. She will invite you to her office, on a Sunday, if you are needing to visit your convalescing dog or cat. My beautiful dog is a dead. It hurts me to write that, but it's true. I took my dog, Buffy, into Dr. Eskridge's because Buffy had been feeling sick. Long story short, a heart condition was not diagnosed. Dr. Eskridge says she thinks she heard a muffled sound when she listened to Buffy's heart, but she didn't tell me about that until after the fact -- after Buffy was already gone and I was finally able to get a hold of the doctor. That's the other point -- Dr. Eskridge's website advertises 24 hour emergency care service, but that was not the case. Buffy had her fatal heart attack on a Sunday. This is apparently not covered under "24 hour emergency care service" because I could not get a hold of Dr. Eskridge at her clinic or on her "emergency" contact number. I left a message, but seven hours later had not heard back. Even though my beautiful Buffy was already gone, I tried the number a last time, and Dr. Eskridge finally answered. Too little too late. So here is my story. I had two dogs neutered and they were fine, everything went smoothly. Then I have my little female, she had a lump on her tail removed and it was stitched up. She left it alone and everything was fine until yesterday. She had tried to pull her stitches out. I am about 30 min past when the clinic closes and so I try calling the emergency number. No answer, after 3 times of calling still no answer. I go in at 7:30 knowing they aren't really open, but hoping they could at least look at her tail and suggest something. All I was told was "NO we can't look at her, the vet doesn't even come in till 9:30". The door says hrs are from 8-5:30. The customer service is HORRIBLE!! The staff are all rude, and don't seem to care about any of your pets issues! If I could give them a negative rating I would! I WILL NEVER TAKE MY PETS BACK!!! This is the worst vet clinic I have ever been to, and it stinks, and I don't think there is a spot in that clinic that is sanitary!! Read Less

If I could give negitive stars I would so let me tell you what happened. I had a dog who became very sick. I took her into the clinic and the vet flat out told me it was my fault because I didnt give her her shots soon enough. (My dog was basically laying there dying) Then she tells me that I can leave her there and that if I cant afford to pay the bill for her treatment when she is better that she can rehouse her. (considerate :) ) However, 2 days after I left, a family comes in and decides they want my dog, and WHAT DOES THE VET DO????? Gives her to them in exchange for the payments of the treatment...As if that isnt bad enough I called EVERY DAY about 2 weeks to see how she was and they NEVER once mentioned that she was with another family. And finally I find out whats going on and the vet tells me not to take her away from the family she doesnt even belong to. Plus every time we call to speak with them the vet is out of the office. (Or at goodwill, while we are sitting in their office with a puppy having seizures)!!!!!! I hate this clinic. If you wanna keep your Family member in the family take them somewhere else. Read Less

There has been several occasions where I have brought my friends pet to this clinic. I would never bring my own animals there, I have too much respect for my animals! I have called the emergency number late at night when something very bad things have happened to my friends animals. They never answer their emergency number and by time they do get back to you it's 3pm the next day. Her staff always says she doesn't always get her messages but I have also called shane's number and left messages and multiple messages through out the night with no response! If she doesn't get her messages then how do they know to call me back at 3pm? The most recent visit to Eskridge vet was to get a dog nuetered. Well they also cleaned the dogs teeth free of charge (no complaint there) a few days later we had to take the dog back because we thought he was sick. He wasnt eating and acting like he was in a lot of pain. Well come to find out they had pulled a bunch of his teeth and never told us or the owner of the animal. (us being the ones who dropped him off and picked him up) Another time a few months earlier, my friends dog had gotten really sick. Also at night, so the emergency number was pointless yet again, Finally in the morning when the vet opened they came and picked the dog up from my friends (kudos to them) well later in the day it came out that the dogs kidneys failed and the dog would have to be put to sleep. So we take my friend down to say goodbye to her dog. we had to go through the back door because she is in a wheelchair. When we went in the door Lisa was there doing an operation on a cat while eating Taco Bell! please correct me if I am wrong but isn't any operation supposed to be sterile to avoid infection?!?!?! I hated to shop around for services but the budget couldn't handle another expense after my dog's leg surgery. We were from out of town and have plenty of local options but felt we were paying additional for facilities instead of services. I was concerned that my favorite little friend may suffer in order to try and save me a couple of bucks. A friend of mine told me this is where they take their pets and I thought I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised after reading other reviews and the cleanliness of the facility upon my arrival. I don't expect the facility to look like a fancy office but whatever the facility, I expect it to be clean. The staff members were friendly and they took great care of my dog.
