The passing of a special animal is a trying time, but Aurora Animal Hospital did everything possible to make the process easier. My cat passed at home, but even for a non-living patient they reserved a special room so we could go straight back with no waiting to discuss options. They were friendly, efficient, discreet, and treated our kitty with the utmost dignity. I asked my FB friends for a recommendation of an excellent vet that was open late or on weekends, and four different people told me this place was unbeatable. They do not even deserve one star. I went to go put my dog Dexter down because he is suffering. Well that did not happen. Which I am truly grateful for because, I love my dog but he truly is ready to go. We go to Aurora Animal Hospital. I walk in with my limping dog who has lost the ability to use the restroom properly, has cataracts, a wart covering his eye, an ear infection in both ears which has been prominent his whole life and, breathes very heavily all the time. Of course Dexter is a happy dog and loves all the attention he is getting as we walk back to the room but, I am sobbing because this is my dog and I’ve been watching him fade over time. We sit down in the room and I lay Dexters blanket down so that when he goes he can be comfortable. The vet comes in to let us know what will happen and that the doctor would be in shortly for a check up. Well the doctor comes in and starts her check up. When she finishes she says that she can give us medicine to help Dexter with his pain and his inability to hold himself and that we could treat the ear and eye infection. We were kind of in shock because it had taken our family about 6 months to agree that Dexter is old and is really starting to deteriorate. She steps out of the room to give my mom and I time to talk. A vet tech comes in after five minutes and asks what we decided and I specifically said I don’t want to watch my dog suffer anymore we will be putting him down. The vet tech walks out and in comes the doctor again. This is the part where they stepped way out of line and I will say I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS VET. The doctor looks at my mother and I and says “if he is becoming a hassle or there is money problems our vet tech Rose will take him.” I was in complete shock. My mom just blacked out she was so flabbergasted. Dexter is our family and it wasn’t easy to make the decision to say goodbye to him. My mom eventually came back to reality and we decided to just take the medicine which costed an arm and a leg. Guys I’m really happy my dog is still with us but I know he is hurting. He’s the happiest like ball of joy. But the vets had no right to make us feel like we were murdering him. They had no right to assume he was becoming a hassle or there were money problem, they had no right to ask if he could go to another home. Our family came to the hard decision to put him down. They haven’t been with Dexter for 11 years. They haven’t watched him age. My mom spoke to the office manager about all this. We live near here and decided to switch based on it being closer, best decision ever. My one dog has epilepsy and they are so knowledgeable and kind about her. They really know how to make animals feel comfortable and the owners. They answer questions openly and will always find someone else if they don't know the answer. they also have taken great care of my other dog and our mama chinchilla with her 4 newborns (2 days old) and gave us so much more information that before we had not known or were told the opposite. Great Great place. I had a freak out thinking my cats were poisoned on a Sunday. I called them because my vet was closed. They got me in before they closed and were so nice and helpful. Dr. Willems and staff helped tremendously with helping my dog and I thru a very tough time and still are. My dog was diagnosed with bone cancer and due to pain we chose to go ahead and amputate. While it won’t cure the type of cancer he has, it has made him a brand new dog. He acts like a rambunctious puppy now and still beats me up and down the stairs even though he is down to 3 legs. Oh and he thinks he is an agility athlete now too! The amputation was the best thing for him and Dr. Willems did an amazing job!!! Read Less

I moved here from Fort Collins, where I loved my vet. I went to two different vet clinics in town that were overpriced or did not treat my cat very gently. I have had great experiences with Aurora Animal Hospital. The hours are workable for owners who have 9-5 jobs, and they are always timely. They are always willing to give you an estimate of the price before you come in, and will work with you on splitting up treatments/shots based off your financial needs. They also will help me work with at-home treatments before having to bring my cat in. They go above and beyond to make sure all my questions are answered, and treat my pet with love and care. We took our dog here for TPLO surgery for his torn ACL. Both the day of the surgery and during our 3 postop visits here, we did not once see a vet. Instead, we only interacted with techs (who were very nice). When we had medical questions, the tech would go talk to the vet in another room and then relay the answer. When you're having such a major surgery done on your dog (and paying thousands of dollars), you expect at the very least that you'll see a veterinarian after the surgery and during your appointments. Nope. For 3 straight days after surgery our dog wouldn't stop crying. Scared that something was wrong, I called asking to talk to the vet and was told I'd get a call back within an hour. I didn't get a call back till the next day. Thankfully, our dog has recovered well from the surgery and he's back to running and hiking like before. Read Less

I seriously cannot express how amazing our experience was at Aurora Animal Hospital for our first visit! We decided after nearly 10 years to leave our current vet (Broadview Animal Clinic) because it has gone downhill fast over the last couple of years. I feel like I've been missing out for almost a decade by not switching sooner! Below are a few highlights (this will be long!) I called to ask a few questions before switching over, so we could estimate the cost for our first visit. The receptionist was warm and answered all of my questions in detail. I was extremely happy with this because if we called our previous vet, they would act like you were interrupting their entire day if you called to ask any question at all! She made me feel right at home and confirmed my decision to switch almost immediately! We have a senior dog and a new shelter adopted dog that we took in for our first visit. We saw Dr. Kant who is absolutely the sweetest vet I've ever worked with! They showed us to a room as soon as we got there, which is a huge change from waiting in the hectic lobby long past our scheduled appointment (what we were used to!) . The tech came in first to take down any concerns we had, which were expansive since this was our first visit with our new doggy. She spent ample time going over all of our questions and writing them down for the Doctor to ensure we didn't forget anything! She also addressed any questions we had about possible tests and vaccinations, and I never felt like she pushed anything at all on us. When Dr. Kant came in, she sat down on the floor and greeted our doggies. The whole experience with her was warm and welcoming and we never felt like we were asking too many questions. I felt like she was very thorough and the exam was night and day compared to what we were used to at our previous vet. She is seriously the best vet I've ever been to and showed sincere love for our pets! Even the follow up was amazing! She suggested Benedryl for our new doggy's allergy issues and forgot to send us with the dosage to give her. Before I could follow up to ask about it, she emailed it right over. She also followed up later that day with the lab results from our old doggy's blood tests. I can highly, highly suggest taking your pets here! The experience from start to finish was absolutely unbelievable! We really like the friendly staff. Not only do they make sure you know the course of treatment, they make sure you know the whys and potential cost. One of the things I like the best is how the vets, techs and other staff take the time to make your pet comfortable with them before they start poking and prodding. Favorite veterinary office! The staff is so friendly and nice and our vet Dr. Willems is THE BEST! She has a fabulous and ingenious method of delivering vaccinations where my dogs did not even notice they received all of their shots! I didn't even need to comfort them or hold them once. I've been taking my pets here for at least 8 years. They are wonderful! I can always get an appointment pretty quickly for urgent care and even when it's not urgent, I can usually get in pretty quickly. They have very reasonable rates. They take the time to answer my questions. The doctor and staff are always very friendly and knowledgeable. My pets have seen them for everything: spay for my dog, annual exams and shots, illnesses (general tummy upset), teeth cleaning and pulling, heartworm treatment, nail trims, medications, etc. The ONLY time I have taken my pets to another vet is for an emergency visit at midnight, otherwise I wouldn't even think of taking them anywhere else. One other thing that I want to mention...I have an adopted dog that is difficult to handle when around other people and dogs. It is a very nerve wracking experience whenever I take him to the vet. I have no con's, so here are the pros. -Very friendly and professional staff -Clean and professional facility -Prices are very fair and affordable -Fantastic hours -They give a piece of cheese to the dog during the appointment I took in my lab for her spay. I opted for the laser therapy which has really helped the scar. Only 2 days after surgery, the scar looks fantastic and she seems to be healing very well. I have found a vet for life. Aurora Animal Hospital is amazing! When they found that my sweet boy had cancer, they were very caring and helped me get through the choice that I needed to make for him. I was surprised a week later to see a card from them. I thought that it would just be some general card they send to everyone about the loss of a pet, but I was so wrong. Several people from the hospital wrote notes about how they felt about our loss and that they were thinking of our family. It was so personalized and amazing. I was moved by their compassion. I adopted a puppy and brought her here to get spayed. They did a really good job. Josie is fully healed and her incision was clean. She bounced right back and is happy as ever. In hindsight, I would say that the cost was worth the peace of mind. Any type of surgery is something I would recommend paying extra for higher quality of care. You can tell they really love animals. I began my experience with Aurora Animal Hospital after deciding to make an international move with my dogs which requires extensive screening documentation and testing on both dogs. They are near where I live and they are federally accredited. Ok! Just what I needed!\n\n I was nervous about leaving the vet that I had been taking my dogs to since they were pups, but I am so glad I did! Dr. Esposito was so great with the ""kids"" and with helping us navigate all of the qualifications we had to meet in a timely manner. \n\nThe girls at the front (Kate and Ashley) have been life savers! I went to Aurora Animal Hospital and Dr. Cogswell walked into the room and spent a couple of minutes getting to know Aspen before she and I talked. I was SOLD! I couldn't be more impressed with Dr. Cogswell and the team at Aurora Animal Hospital. She treated our Golden Retriever ""Barley"" like he was a member of her own family. \n\nSadly, while we were in the Mountains with Barley on vacation, a tumor on his spleen ruptured and we had no choice but to put him down. Dr. Cogswell went above and beyond by walking me through exactly what was happening, and what options there were. There was no way I could have been able to make it to AAH in time, but she helped us get through the tough decision, even though we had to go to another vet in Granby.\n\nA couple of weeks after adopting another dog he started losing clumps of hair and had sores on his back (sorry for the details). Don't ever go there!! The room smelled like cat pee, I did annual stuff as recommended and they called and left me a message with blood numbers that I had no idea what they meant. I have gone to this place just because it's close to my house.I call to ask how much they will charge me to have the bordetella ( kennel cough) and influenza shots for my two dogs, and they told me $95.00 per dog.Then I called my usual Vet which is in Washington St. and they will charge me $25.00 per dog.........I mean, no brainer.This people are stealing !
