I took my dog to this place one time and that was enough for me to see they are seriously only out for money.... I am more of a country vet kinda of person. Meaning I like affordable vets that make you feel like they are there for you and your pets best interest, not your pocket book. My sister's dog had been declining. They took him in yesterday for a "quality of life" visit. When they got there he could no longer walk, so it became apparent what needed to be done. My sister and BIL didn't have the $277, right then. They couldn't take the dog home...and they couldn't leave him to spend the night (not that they would have wanted to do that) and they didn't have the money. So...they thought to call my BIL's mom. This clinic wouldn't take a PHONE payment! Why?? "Fraud issues" was the reason given. I went down and paid, so their dog wouldn't suffer. And guess what?? My BIL and sister paid me back today! I do want to clarify that the vet, himself was wonderful. BUT...the management is ALL about money. People are in a horrible state, their animal is dying and they will not help without the cash. And, I'm sorry, but I work in the dental and we take phone payments, same as restaurants and retail shops. Deplorable. Read Less

I just moved here from Maryland in January and started going here because it's the closest vet to my house. I came home at 530 to see my kitten had gotten a pretty bad cut, they saw me at 545 even though they closed at 6 and stayed an extra hour to take care of my kittens cut. Super friendly and very good information as welp. Highly recommended and will continue to come back!Read Less

I love the staff. They are so good with my dogs and always help them feel more comfortable. We have had many visits to the doctor this last year and they have really shown they care about the health and well being of my babies and want to ensure they have the best quality care and long and healthy life. Doctor Rathmell is a proactive rather than reactive Vet. She has treated two of my dogs and always stayed on top of their condition, always looking ahead to combat any possible medical issues. She doesn't provide any medications without truly knowing their in's and out's. I highly recommend Doctor Rathmell to any pet owner. She is very personable and will earn your business, not demand it, as others sometimes tend to do. First dog was calm and my dog now is extremely hyper. We brought our very sick dog into the them after she just stopped eating. They were very quick, and kind, they were straightforward about prices and prognosis. They took her overnight and have done an amazing job getting her feeling better and trying to find the cause. I am very impressed with the doctors, and nurses there. Read Less

Terrible experience at this vet. My dog gets extremely anxious at the vet and these Dr's and techs do not know how to handle anxious pets. So, if your dog might at all act out at the vet's office, do not go here! Their only solution was to put him under every single time he came in for a visit. I was also extremely displeased when my dog was very sick and when I took him in for an emergency exam, they wouldn't do anything because he was so scared and they were too afraid to touch him. They wouldn't even come near him. All they did was send me home with an extremely overpriced bill and some medication, and they never even called to check up on how he was doing. AVOID.If I could give it ZERO stars I would.  My little Border Collie had been bitten by a Brown recluse spider.  I brought her in FRANTIC.  Did they get even a VET TECH to look at her briefly to help my peace of mind? NO.  They were MORE interested in getting ALL of my financial information (Urgent Care office visit of $79) before they did anything.  And then they put me in a room and I waited and waited and they kept coming in and saying, "One more minute, one more minute."  Twenty minutes later, freaked out, I opened the door and said, "I don't freak out like this.  She needs to see someone RIGHT NOW."I went back into the room. NOTHING.I grabbed Maddie, walked out into the lobby and said, "THIS is why you have such a LOUSY reputation on the internet!" NO military discount and MONEY seems to be their TOP priority. So even though this place is TWO MINUTES from my house? I will ALWAYS take my kids to BROWNS.  I took Maddie to Browns: $57 for visit AND meds.  I was in and out of there in FIVE minutes. The original owner (once Columbine Animal Clinic) would be ASHAMED of what his hospital has become.  YOU DO NOT EXIST TO MAKE MONEY. YOU EXIST TO CARE FOR ANIMALS AND TODAY? YOU FAILED.I looked at my clock in my car when I got there and again when I left. I waited TWENTY minutes from the time I walked in, to the time I left and NO ONE assured me that my pet was NOT in distress. NO ONE. I know my dog. They put me in a room and ignored me. NO ONE came in but the paper pusher. NO vet tech, NO nurse, NO ONE. When I walked out into the lobby to complain, one of the FOUR medical personnel sitting doing PAPERWORK gave me a sympathetic look as if to say, "I'm sorry, but this is how he makes us do this."And if your "go to" solution is to videotape your clients to refute their complaints? You've got bigger problems than responding to a complaint on Yelp will solve.Given the number of complaints I've found regarding this place on the internet, I stand by my statement:  HE IS IN IT FOR THE MONEY.  AVOID. Wow. This place...amazing. They truly love animals and don't just merely tolerate them. I've had other vet techs become numb to dogs' whining and barking but when my Olive barked, they didn't just ignore her even though she didn't need anything! They didn't just treat Olive, give her her shots, etc...they catered to her personality and knew that they had to go slow with her or else she'd become difficult. Since this was the first time I was taking her for her shots I didn't even know how she'd react. I'm really sad that I'm moving out of state because now I have to find a vet that is as caring as the entire staff was at this place. They additionally went the extra mile and looked up Olive's current microchip and provided me with the phone number to call to update her records. They were very knowledgeable about what medications I would need to conquer the flea/tick problem in my new state. Simply put--this place is AMAZING! My dog was loved and cared for. Read Less

I first met Dr. Boley in 2001 on an emergency basis because my cat went blind. After a last ditch round of antibiotics my cat's vision returned. Dr. Boley has an excellent bedside demeanor and has subsequently taken excellent care of three additional dogs. The doctors and staff do an excellent job of keeping "the patients" on a good recall system for shots. They are very attentive of my dogs' personalities. And....the cat is still alive! Read Less

I had a 15 year old min pin/ dauschand she was very swollen in her face one morning and my daughter had heard good things about this business. I took her there and she unfortunately had to be laid to rest. The office staff from check in to check out and the doctor was truly compassionate and understanding and really made a hard decision to be as comfortable for us as possible. We received a sympathy card and all. I then had a little Chihuahua that had become ill as well shortly after and he had to have many teeth removed. His recovery was amazing and i will have to admit that the treatment that we received from our new veterinary office is way better than my own doctors office. Thank you all very much! Read Less

I DO NOT recommend this vet by any means. Our poor dog suffered from the flu that turned into what they thought was "pneumonia". They did all the tests and said our poor dog's lungs were about 50/50 full of fluid and they sent her home because they didn't want to hospitalize her being so contagious. We took her back for a check, she was improving. The very next day our poor girl took a turn for the worst and we called to make an appointment. They couldn't see her until the next day at 5 pm. My gut told me that she wouldn't be alive by the next day so we took her to the emergency vet that this same facility recommended. After looking at the SAME X-rays, we were told that her left lung had very little function if any, and she couldn't confirm that it was pneumonia at all. It could have been something much worse (lung disease/infection). Our baby suffered due to the doctor's poor decision and were left with the only choice by to humanely euthanize our poor girl. She wasn't in the emergency vet for an hour and deteriorated fast. She was in the same condition on Monday when we originally took her to this vet and we were sent home with her to suffer. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOUR ANIMAL'S LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!! Please explore other vets in town. Read Less

We've had nothing but good experiences here. Our two dogs love it here, they get excited every time they see the door (until the butt thermometer comes out anyway). Sometimes when we walk by, they want to go in and say hi. Dr. Rathmell is amazing, our dog managed to eat some odd combination of sticks, rat bones, and various other gross things, and partially blocked off his bowel. Dr. Rathmell was very helpful in this stressful time. When he first got sick, there was nothing on the xrays, so we tried some other treatments to see if that would help. After that he was fine for a few days, until the block shifted in his intestines and we had to go back. They were able to get him into surgery the next day, and we got to visit him afterwards, and take him home the next day. He recovered extremely fast. Within a week he seemed back to his old self, and we made him stay calm a little longer, and how he is as good as new! We recommend this place to every person we talk to about Vets in the area.Read Less

The folks at Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs are true professionals who enjoy what they do- and you can tell!I brought my rescue cat in a few times for minor issues and the female vet was very kind and was able to explain to me the steps we could take to ensure my kitty got better.  I really enjoyed the fact that she spoke to me like a person rather than a colleague (none of that medical jargon but rather a language I could understand, she kept it simple).  I was also pleased when she offered her own advice if my cat were hers "to be honest, if he was my cat, I would..."  It really made my visit that much easier.I would give them five-stars but unfortunately their prices are through the roof.  I have utilized animal hospitals in the past when I lived in other locations and had spent much less.  As far as customer service and caring for my cat, they are five-stars in my book! Beat vet in town. Gone there for years. I have gone through everything with them. Very sympathetic.  However, more importantly, when I say we are going to the vet my dogs get excited and wag there tails. They have a wonderful staff and usually get you in the same day. We moved from Colorado Springs last summer; however, our animals were patients of Dr. Boley's for several years (2 dogs, 1 cat).  Dr. Boley and his staff are caring and professional.  The facility is clean and provides up to date technology, equipment and treatments.  When we had to put our GSD dog down, the staff was compassionate.  In our future visits, they always remembered that it was too hard for us to go into the same exam room.  The staff would also provide us with several appointment options to fit our schedule.  I highly recommend this animal hospital and Dr. Boley. This is probably the best vet clinic I've ever been to.First off, I called in the morning to schedule a same day appointment and they were able to fit me into the schedule!  She was able to schedule my dog for an appointment a few hours later (still in the morning) and when we got there we were seen immediately.  The waiting area is open and not cluttered and is big and open.  The tech who initially saw us was so friendly and took her time asking us questions.  I did not feel rushed when I was speaking with her or the vet.  My dog was seen by Dr. Rathmell who I can easily say is the BEST VET I have ever taken my dog to.  We have taken my sweet pitbull to 3 different vets (in a different state) in the past trying to find the right fit, and they were all so-so, but DR. RATHMELL was warm, inviting, and playful to her and took her time answering my questions and concerns.  She sat down to speak with me and actively listen to me instead of standing as if ready to leave the minute I stopped talking.  My dog and I both adore her. PLUS as a strange upside, I liked that I was able to pay my vet bill right inside the room my dog was seen in.  I find it stressful to manage pulling my wallet out and holding my things, while holding my dog, while my dog is trying to tend to other dogs.  So it was nice that I was able to pay the bill in the room we were seen in and I was able to walk out without juggling a million things.  Very much appreciated that little detail. I took my new puppy to Animal hospital of Colorado Springs. I am very picky about where I bring my little fur babies! This place is very clean, you don't see dirt, or smell any animal smells. What is very important to me the cleanliness of a place. My puppy loves the vet Tech. They are very professional and comparable in price to other Vets offices. Although being a military family, I can go on base to the vet office and It is cheaper. I like to have another vet that is close to me. I would highly recommend this place. I have lived in many states in the US, and there are places that I have walked into and turned around and left. I am one of those very picky people! Read Less

We have been taking our animals here since 1984 when we moved here from Germany. We moved to the Black Forest in 1998 and even though it is a long drive in we have continued to take our animals there. Both Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Boley and all of the staff are absolutely amazing. We were in the mandatory evacuation area of the Black Forest Fire and they called to make sure we were alright and if we needed anything to call them. Our yellow Lab will be 15 years next month and when it is time, we know they will be there for us. Our 11 year Golden was extremely ill in Feb. and they pulled her through.
