Aspen View Veterinary Hospital

This is our regular vet, but I ended a little disappointed with the management of our dying senior dog. We took him because his health declined significantly. They recommended a super expensive diagnostic, although he fit the description of a dying dog. We had to schedule him with the HSPPR to be euthanized and the only record they provided was an ITU. The HSPPR confirmed he fit the description and that it was the best move. It got me thinking how far can we go to perpetuate the suffering of my dog to get some revenue. Read Less

These are the best veterinarians I have met. They’ve taken such great care of all our animals and made sure that we feel valued. They aren’t afraid to give advice when we ask “what would you do if this was your cat?” and answer with honesty. They love animals and it shows. I wouldn’t take my fur-babies anywhere else. Though the staff may be caring, I think they should stick to the animals with fur. They almost had me put down my bearded dragon for a sickness he didn't have. The prices are very good but if you have reptiles go somewhere else. Read Less

I have been seeing the doctors here for 20+ years. I always feel like they genuinely care about me and my pet family. They have become a part of my extended family. My dogs have been to the vet many times, often for less than ideal reasons, yet they continue to wag their tails and offer kisses to the entire staff. Great customer service. They are very patient and polite in answering all questions. Dr. Wiedmann was amazing when she vaccinated my cat. He’s normally very shy and afraid in these situations but she took excellent care of him. I highly recommend this Veterinary hospital. Read Less

Dr cmelka did a neuter procederure on my male guinne pig. When I bring him home he was almost lifeless.So brought him back and charged 200 more dollars.My pig died 5 minutes later in his care.Don't recommend this vet to nobody he is terrible.Please remember this. My name is Robert Hill Read Less

The reviews for this place don't lie, it's an excellent place with knowledgeable staff who genuinely care. I ran into a bit of an issue though regarding billing - apparently their system didn't charge my card when I paid after my visit, so they were trying to get hold of me the next day. They left a message on my phone, which I got, but then called me again while I was in the middle of working out. The lady apologized after I said I'd call back to pay later, but I got the feeling they were more desperate to get their payment than they were concerned with treating me like a valued customer. Maybe people skipping out of paying bills is a common occurrence around here or something, but I would never try to cheat the system like that, and they kind of made me feel like I was even though the payment issue wasn't even my fault. That aside though, it's a really good place and I will be bringing my cat back (and also making absolute sure my payment goes through before I leave). Read Less

Best best best in the state! Everyone here is actual into your pet, the are so kind and genuine. Dr. Shreppel is brilliant had a passion for pets and knows what he's talking about, so gentle! The best vets in Colorado Springs. They have 3 vets & a bunch of vet techs on staff. The office manager keeps things running smooth & is great at answering questions & keeping the costumers happy. I wouldn't trust any other clinic with my 4 dogs 3 cats.Read Less

If I could give this place minus 5 stars I would. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE BIRDS. They charge $65 no matter what. If they cut off your birds band $65. If they look at your bird for 2 minutes and say "oh ya he is healthy" $65. The really sad part is they are not even set up to see birds. they tried to weigh my bird on a baby scale really? and they cut a really thick leg band off my other bird with cheap ass wire cutters, they cut her leg with the cheap wire cutters trying to get it off and traumatized her. AND THEN CHARGED ME $65 FOR IT!! When I asked why they said oh she is a exotic animal so we charge $65 no matter what. DR labondie who is the leading avian vet in the state who provides a thousand times better care then these guys doesn't even charge $65 to remove a band and also doesn't cut and traumatize my bird!!!! If you have to go here only see Dr Webb otherwise avoid this place like the plague if you have birds. Read Less

The staff is wonderful. We haven't been coming here too long...but we will be long time patients. We currently have 4 dogs...and imagine we wont have less than that any time soon. Colorado House Rabbit Society highly recommended for my bunnies . I agree. Take my cats there as well. The vets and the techs are all so compassionate. Peter and Dr. Schrepel came to the house to euthanize Ernie; it was so peaceful for Ernie and the rest of the family. Not a bad thing to say . Read Less

We bring all of our pets to Aspen View and have never had a major complaint. Sometimes there can be a decent wait when trying to schedule an available appointment, however the staff has always been accommodating to trying to find a reasonably soon appointment. I have no intention of finding a new vet anytime soon. Read Less

I think the Dr. Webb was fantastic! We also had a very good experience with our technician that day who's name I believe was Rachel. They were thorough, friendly, and willing to answer all questions. We had the opportunity to also meet their practice manager, Jamie (I think) who was incredibly welcoming. I thought alot of the fact this business had a brand new client and the head person took the time to introduce herself and make sure we knew who they were and that they were always there to help. The negative of this place and why my wife and I decided to give them 4 stars instead of 5 was their receptionist, Barb. She took our initial call to get a found baby rabbit in for an appointment and seemed helpful and concerned, however that completely changed when we came in for our appointment. She was cold, hurried, unfriendly, and even derogatory about my wife to other staff. When my wife arrived she wasn't greeted or even acknowledged for approx 3 minutes while Barb carried on a conversation with another employee. Frustrating for sure! She was then placed into an exam hurriedly and rudely told someone would be in when they could. She then, loudly enough my wife heard, told them she was there and she was rude so they needed to hurry and get in the room. Admittedly she was frustrated by the unfriendly greeting and lack of acknowledgement but still giving the place a chance! At the close of the appointment again Barb came in to check us out and made no attempt to be nice just wanted our payment and that is it. Not so much as have a nice day etc. We were supposed to schedule a recheck appointment but at that point my wife refused being unsure if we wanted to keep coming here. With time to cool off we realize that the majority of this staff was absolutely amazing and our opinion wouldn't be swayed by 1 bad apple. We do hope NOT to have to interact with Barb anymore though. We would recommend taking your pets here as it is clean, and most staff is welcoming and incredibly helpful and caring. Read Less

I took my chinchilla for a leg injury and the staff was excellent at working around my schedule and getting her in right away. They also were very gentle and knowledgeable and gave me options to best treat her issue. She is already improving. I appreciate the great service guys! See you at the follow up appointment! We love this place! We will recommend it for A+++ treatment! New to Colorado at the time, we wanted a vet that we could genuinely trust, not rip us off & come to continuously. We definitely chose the right place.Everyone at the Vet is amazing! The receptionists, the assisants & any of the staff you deal with have such warm, caring yet professionalism. I haven't been going to Aspen View very long but the people there have taken great care of both my cats. They seem to be very compassionate when it comes to my pets. When I learned that Dr. Jesse Webb was leaving my three kitties' former veterinary hospital to join the staff of Aspen View Veterinary Hospital, I immediately transferred my pets' records to Aspen View so that they could remain under Dr. Webb's care. From the moment I contacted Aspen View for the first time, every single staff member I have had contact with has been caring, compassionate, friendly and knowledgeable both in person and on the phone. I could not ask for a more supportive team to help me maintain my pets' health. This was our first visit to this clinic, but we will definitely go back. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable, but most of all, the vet spent a lot of time with us. He was gentle and caring as he examined our old dog. He made several recommendations and offered us some options for treatments. We and our dog felt very comfortable there. I've been to quite a few vets before but Dr. Chmelka is the most compassionate vet I've ever met. He is knowledgeable and the scheduling is very friendly for working people. Tomorrow my beautiful siamese will end his fight with cancer but I will forever be grateful to Aspen View for helping me do everything we could for him. I highly recommend this practice. R.I.P. I went to Aspen View because I was disappointed with my previous vet, Pikes Peak on Union. Our initial visit on Friday went well, probably because i dealt with the Dr directly,  but they forgot to apply the "no lick" spray. My dog had the $100 procedure torn up in less than 24 hrs. Took him back on Monday morning to get his foot re-wrapped. 15 minutes later the tech(?) came out with him wearing a cone that was entirely too big which prevented walking. ($16) Took him back to get foot wrapped again.($25) This time they sprayed his foot with "no lick" and was fine. 3 trips, 60 miles, and $140 later all for a small "booboo' between his toes. We recently visited this office after moving here and being very disappointed by the other 3 offices we tried. Wow what great service! The staff was so nice, the Dr. Was great with our dog and spent over an hour with us answering our questions!!! Loyal customer! Been bringing all my pets to Aspen View since we moved to the C/S area 8 yrs ago. Although it would be more convenient to go to a vet closer to our home in Security, it is worth our travels north for our animals to be genuinely loved and taken care of at Aspen View. I made the mistake once of going to the vet 2 blocks from my house, where my cat was misdiagnose and a life threatening issue written off. Aspen View took a 2nd look at the cat and provided her the needed surgery. They have been there for the loss of a couple dogs (even sending flowers to the house!!!), putting a rod in our ferret's leg, and even though it was the specialist that performed the dual hip replacement surgeries, Aspen View called often to see how our boy was doing. The best part is, when I call, I am on a first name basis with the ladies at the front desk...they really take the time to know not just your pet(s), but you as well. I have read the reviews regarding overpricing and I disagree; perhaps these two individuals don't understand the many factors that affect the price of a surgery. The doctors at this hospital have performed many procedures for my pets including a spay, teeth cleaning, an emergency enterotomy, and most recently a blood transfusion. I have always been informed of a reasonable estimate up front and there were no surprises. Most importantly, my animals always came through with flying colors. Thank you, Aspen View! Read Less

We would not take our pets anywhere else in the Springs.  This is a small practice of 2 veterinarians. In over a year, we have never had any problems scheduling appointments.  We had a difficult decision to make for one of our "boys", and had to put him to sleep.  The compassion and caring from everyone in the office was amazing.  They even called after to see how we were doing.   I highly recommend Aspen View! I initially decided to give this vet a try because they were willing to work with my schedule and offered me a reasonable price for surgery for my kitten. (I paid $374 at the time surgery occured. I never asked for a payment plan.) After 1 phone consultation and 2 visits, I left their office and will never return again. Each time I spoke to the staff I was given conflicting information regarding prices for their services. They even tried to charge me an additional $75 office visit just two weeks after they had seen my kitten in their office to give my kitten his 2nd booster shot and 2nd dewormer. The Vet Techs were not aware of prices, the front desk was not aware of prices and both contributed to an hour worth of mis-communication (on their part that they admitted to) in addition to making me upset to the point I cried. I never raised my voice or threatened the staff; I simply asked them to honor what I had been quoted. The front desk finally apologized and my kitten received his vaccines. However, Dr. Chmelka reserved ABSOLUTELY NO COURTESY during this entire ordeal. He NEVER apologized or acknowledged his office had contributed to an unhappy, not to mention crying patron. (He knew I was upset because my face was red and tears were in my eyes.) I will NEVER trust this office with my business again. Although I realize that the cost of pet care should not be the deciding factor, I think that most Vets should be aware that this is one of the main reasons that pets are abandoned and that it should therefore be of great concern to them. I phoned around for estimates to get my Guinea Pig neutered and Aspen View Veterinary Hospital quoted me $90 ? 130. I confirmed verbally that this would be the total cost. Though this was not the lowest quote they came highly recommended so I decided to take my Guinea Pig there. After the operation the cost suddenly doubled to $260. $130 stretched my budget to the utmost, $260 means that I will actually have to delay payments that I can?t really afford to do. The only reason that I did not just leave my Guinea Pig there and walk away is the heartbreak that I know it would cause my children. DONT take your pets to Aspen View Veterinary Hospital. Read Less
