We have been going to Aspenwood with our two dogs for about a year now. Orginially I set up an appointment because our younger dog (about a year old at the time) had severe anxiety and some behavioral issues, and I had never trained a dog with such a nervous personality before. Everyone on the staff is kind, patient, and gentle with both our girls. Over the first few visits with our younger dog, we figured out that medication was helpful but most importantly the veterinarian took the time to teach me some new training tips for dogs with this type of personality. Her advice and techniques made such a difference that when my husband got home from deployment, he couldn't believe the improvement (no more chewing on his shoes! haha). We love Aspenwood! Read Less

We've been taking Willis and Princess to Aspenwood for probably 5 or 6 years and they've always taken excellent care of both of them. I always feel comfortable with the staff and they are always very helpful. Yes, it costs quite a bit nowadays to take care of our pets, but, in my opinion, they are worth it. I’m new to the area and a new puppy owner. Shopped around local vets and found Aspenwood. I saw they had good reviews online. I really like that it’s a small place. The employees really cared about my puppies health. His name is Merle a 6 month old pug. We had an overall checkup, got all needed shots, and microchipped for a VERY REASONABLE price. I had fears of going to a vet but Aspenwood made the whole process very comfortable. They even called the next day to see how Merle was doing after his shots. That means a lot. We were preparing for a vacation. I scheduled our new cat for shots and exams. (We have been coming here for about 5 years with our dog). First exam, cat had some kind of kitty cold. Can't do shots before antibiotics. OK. Second week. Get shots and exam. Third week was to board. They do another exam, after the cat had been in two weeks in a row for exams and shots at about $300. I was not happy about the extra $70 charge for third exam. They also seem to have new vets in there fresh from school every few weeks. During the months before our dog passed from cancer, we must have seen 5 different vets. People look for some continuity in vet care. Going somewhere else now. Read Less

Best vet I've been to in years! They're great with my 12 year old Basenji and always make him feel comfortable by getting down on the floor with him rather than putting him up on the big scary metal table. The doctors and techs are wonderful and caring, especially Dr. Moses and Kate. I brought him in with a stubborn infection in his toenail that our previous vet just kept throwing the same antibiotics at and wasn't able to fix. It is hard to find a veterinarian when while growing up your Grandfather that hung the moon was the best Vet in the world. I come from a family of vets, my great great grandfather was the 3rd territorial vet and the first state vet of Montana. Aspenwood practices down to earth common sense animal medicine. When moving to the Canyon I decided to check them out. We had been a couple times before to aspenwood mainly for shots and one day Don Juan was being a jerk and needed surgery for some wounds. About 6 months later I woke up and Don Juan was walking in circles and acting lethargic. I had self diagnosed him with "Old Mans" still made the call to them and they said to bring him in. It was much worse, they felt he had a brain clot. He went on high dosages of steroids. After 3 days he wasn't getting better and seeming to get worse. This was the first pet I had on my own that I didn't have my grandpa to help me make choices. I called in to aspenwood asking for them to help me make a very tough decision, in a very calm voice the Dr. said give it one more day. The next day Don Juan was perking up, the following day Don Juan was back to his grouchy old self. Since then also my Mom has chosen to have aspenwood as a Vet, she is even more of a critic than me. Rivers my diva red heeler dog sister was reaching the end of her life. She happily lived another year, when the time came my Mom did not have her father to help with choices nor did I have my Grandfather's guidance. Aspenwood is now our family vet! I think Aspenwood Veterinary Hospital is the best. The staff is knowledgeable and caring. They were able to help my Harley cat get over his gastrointestinal problem and now he is as good as new! I love their Candle of Memory that they light when someone is saying goodbye to a furry member of their family. This place is the top of the line for veterinary care. My sweet dog, Bear, got stung by a wasp, so I called to ask what to do. They got me in for a quick appointment ten minutes after I called, and I saw Dr. McCarty within two minutes of arriving. I moved here three years ago and have been searching for a Veterinary Hospital I trusted and I have found that in Aspenwood. The staff is relaxed, friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. They make the time for you and your pet so you leave with confidence. I couldn't be happier with the amount of sincere support Dr. McCarty provided for my 12 yr old female boxer mix. I made an appointment for my Swayze because of several concerns, one being her weight. Dr. McCarty made two follow up calls days after our appointment to go over Swayze's blood work and another to review her food. Dr. Reed is compassionate, professional, knowledgable, and just one of those vets that you feel comfortable with right off! She was able to diagnose a tumor on our best friends spleen and she and the staff went above and beyond getting him the help he needed right away. I was a former client at Aspenwood from 2009 - 2010 when it was owned by Dr. Laas and left due to the distance. There were several clinics that were closer to us, so I chose to go with one of the closer clinics. I received a phone call from the new owner, Dr. Kelly McCarty, in 2011 offering a free examination to former clients. Our beloved Beagle Basset was due for an exam, so I decided to take her up on the free offer. I can't even express how grateful I am that I received that free exam phone call. From the minute I was greeted by the staff, I was happy. Then I met Dr. McCarty and couldn't have been more pleased. She was very knowledgeable, kind and caring and found an issue with our dog (a.k.a. our daughter) that needed further attention. Long story short, it turns out our dog had cushing's disease that should've been diagnosed sooner as the symptoms were clearly there and it seems as though Dr. McCarty knew from the beginning but wanted to be certain before informing us. It was later discovered that our dog was also suffering from a heart tumor. We eventually lost our "daughter" but it was inevitable. There was nothing more that could be done with all of her health problems. I can't thank Dr. McCarty enough for all of her genuine compassion and care that she provided for our dog and the comfort that she provided us. I truly have never met such a caring doctor and staff. We adopted a Basset hound a short time after our loss and there was no question as to whom we would choose as her veterinarian - Dr. McCarty is the only one I completely trust with our second "daughter". I pass several clinics on the way to Aspenwood but it is well worth the drive knowing that our Basset hound will receive the best care. It has been five years now and I will continue to make that drive for our 4 legged daughter with no complaints whatsoever! I had called around to 90% of the vets in the springs when I decided to drop Banfield after the final straw and these guys were the most polite, energetic, knowledgeable, and they had great prices! It's a super cute, tiny hospital but it's very intimate. The 1 thing I'm not a fan of with is how the waiting room is super small. I have a very excitable dog who is leash aggressive to fellow dogs- even with being escorted into a room I still have to deal with checking in and out. Aspenwood is the absolute best veterinary care we've ever had. We have two cats, our boy cat is very aggressive when he goes to the vet because he's scared and stressed.He became very I'll suddenly and we took him to Aspenwood for the first time. They were amazing! He was very upset being there though and Dr. McCarty understood this and worked out how we could keep our boy cat at home but still treat his newly diagnosed diabetes and UTI. She prescribed insulin and antibiotics and checked in with us all the time. He went into remission almost immediately! Dr. McCarty walked us through how to take care of him step-by-step and called us regularly to discuss how he was. We also emailed back and forth. The staff there is also amazing. As a military family it is tough to find a trust worthy veterinarian for our fur children. I am so beyond thankful for the amazing staff and the passion that each and every individual possesses at Aspenwood. I went through such a crises with my husky, Oakley, and Dr. McCarty tried everything she could to help him. Turned out that Oakley is just as emotional as a female when his daddy is deployed. After homing our 3rd husky, Dr. McCarty and her staff has once and again proven themselves. Being new to the area, I had not yet had the time to scope out all the new services and things one does when you relocate. So when my little buddy, Jack, started to decline, I did a cursory search and opted to take him to the closest vet - which was Aspenwood. Now, it is never fun introducing yourself to a new place during a bad time, but sometimes it happens that way. So I called in and they were able to fit him in right away. Sadly, turns out things were not going well for my little guy (16 year old cat that had been losing weight and had other issues for a while) but the staff at Aspenwood were thorough in their exams and taking some of the tests little at a time so we didn't overdo it for him or for my bank account.In the end, it was best to say good bye to Jack, which sucked, but Dr McCarty, Sherry and Roxanne were all wonderful, supportive and made the extremely difficult process as easy as it could be. They explained everything to me, made sure I understood what all was going on and took care of me and Jack. I can't thank them enough for everything they did, their attitudes and for really seeming to care about my pet. We met Dr. Kelly McCarty last year when we adopted our Weimaraner, Bailey. She was very sick and it seemed that we could not find out what was wrong with her. We took her to Dr. McCarty who first impressed us with her gentle and caring nature and we felt immediately at ease with her. She performed several test which all came back fine. She then suggested one more blood test , suspecting a tick borne disease. As it turned out , Dr. McCarty was right and she was able to treat Bailey and save her life! I would like to help ease your mind with that decision by recommending Dr. Kelly McCarty! She is by far one of those ""exceptional"" vets and when you take your pet to her clinic you will know it. (And I especially know it as I have worked for several different vets for a total of 28 years). She has a compassionate and efficient bedside manner coupled with the knowledge to use her diagnostic abilities to figure out what is going on with her patients.
