Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital

Colorado Springs, Colorado
General Info
Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital crafts each visit to suit comfort levels and emotional feasibility for pet families managing care plans across Colorado Springs and beyond. Animals experience multi-dimensional observation during check-in that includes scent layer adjustment flooring texture response eye contact interaction and reactions to nearby movement. Clinicians modify examination procedures based on posture signals and handling feedback to either slow down or pause when patients show restlessness or changes in breathing or physical resistance. Evaluations involve thorough assessments of coat thickness, bodily moisture levels, muscle structure, limb reaction times, dental conditions, oral temperature, and abdominal pliability. Owners receive invitations to discuss recent home behaviors where subtle shifts in daily rituals vocal modulation and energy flow provide insights for next steps. Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital delivers structured diagnostics alongside immunizations and pain tracking while it implements aging wellness protocols and collaborative illness mapping. Flexible appointments enable pet owners to choose between single-step visits or multi-day staging based on their emotional capacity. Healthcare professionals incorporate diagrams alongside tracking calendars and photo logs to facilitate communication across patient visits. Follow-up care isn’t a reminder—it’s a conversation. Check-ins rely on behavioral settling instead of solely timeframes. Pet owners receive training to observe their animals' sensory balance and re-engagement with activities after visits, focusing on pets that either become withdrawn or outwardly reactive following intense stimulation experiences. Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital delivers veterinary services across Colorado Springs and nearby Colorado regions by initiating care through awareness and maintaining support for at-home routines while respecting both physical and emotional boundaries throughout the entire process.

HORRIBLE. Overdrugged my cat and almost killed him. Recommended a surgery that wasn't needed ($800). Put a catheter in my cat that was WAY too big causing extreme swelling. Bad mouthed my cat in front of my children calling him several names. I just took him somewhere else and was treated SO WELL. Said my cat was very well behaved, which he is. And, clarified all of the above AT NO CHARGE. Don't ever go here unless you want to get ripped off and your cat mistreated. Read Less

By far the best place to bring kittens and cats in Colorado Springs. They board here as well. We recently lost our 6.5 year old kitty to a hit and run, and the staff was so understanding and empathetic. They even sent us a handwritten card because they knew he was a big part of our family. They only charge you for what your cat needs and make recommendations based on whether you have an indoor or outdoor cat. Very calm facility that even the cats appreciate. The doctors and techs are always friendly and smiling and most of all compassionate about all cats! 10/10 will go back when we get another cat. Read Less

This facility is great. From the time you call to the end of the visit, they are so kind. They prepare the exam table with a fresh blanket and cat nip on a padded cushion for the exam. No hard, cold exam table here. It is a lot less stressful for your kitty baby to go to a cat only facility. This Dr. And staff does not try to sell you procedures and you do not feel they are out for just money. They truly care for your kitty. Miss Maddie checked out perfect at 16 pounds. I'm so glad I have the perfect vet for my perfect kitties. The cat nip mouse will be loved!! Thank you all so much for what you do!! Read Less

A good samaritan brought my lost dog into Carefree Cats. They scanned him and discovered that he had a chip. Instead of calling the microchip company to get my information to contact me she just gave the good samaritan the number and told her sorry we dont take dogs you can call. She didn't take any information down at all and made no attempt to contact me. I called them looking for him and the lady couldn't even tell me where she told the good samaritan to take him! She didn't seem to care at all. Whether they take dogs or not they should of at least tried to get in contact with me. I ended up not getting him back til 8 hours later at the humane society. If this is how they treat animals or customers I wouldn't recommend them at all. Read Less

When they brought him back out, he was acting so much happier and his breathing was much better. He has to be on some meds, but is ok. I wasn’t aware essential oils are dangerous for pets and apparently he had an asthma attack. Lesson learned. Very grateful for the wonderful care my cat received here and highly recommend them! I would give them minus stars if I could. They ultimately killed my sweet cat Ozzy. I questioned them about my concerns about putting my cat on prednisone and they talked to me like I was an idiot for questioning them.  I'm a nurse so I know all of the side effects of prednisone in humans. Of course when my cat went into congestive heart failure after they gave him the injection of prednisone, they said they had never seen it happen before.  It took me 6 minutes online to find all kinds of studies where this had happened and the cats died. I will never ever forgive them. Thank God Pollard retired and his useless fresh out of college I know everything how dare you question me bimbo left as well.  Evil place. Read Less

I hesitated to write a review because I don't like doing this...but I feel that you need to advise others of this Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital! I took my cats in to be boarded clear back last July 2016 to board them for around 5 days and get them checked out to make sure all was good! And my husband and I went out of town for my birthday in July and the Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital and we had to cut our trip short because they called us and said that our cats had been fighting and they had to put them in separate kennels! Well, my cats have never fought at home or being boarded somewhere else! In fact my cats I got from PetsMart back in 2014 and they lived with no problems together either in the same kennel. They are sisters! And also I paid my bill in full when I picked up my cats and now almost 10 months after...I get a call from Carefree Cats and they tell me that because of an employee back then because they didn't write down something....now they say I owe them $64.00 and I told them that I felt that was not my fault that they mad a mistake and that they didn't give my cats the care that they needed in the time that they were there. I know that $64.00 is not that much money....it is the principal! And how do I really know that this wasn't paid for already????? Case in point if you went to McDonald's and they undercharged you and waited 10 months to tell you....I think that they don't have many cases! I am upset because I feel that they let me down and especially my two loving sweet cats. And I hope that many read this and others reviews because this Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital doesn't make their clients and their animals feel Carefree...they made unhappy cats back in July 2016 and I was never happy with them! And now being threatened over a $64.00 error on the part of the Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital to send to collections to hurt me and my family when we did all our due diligence to make sure we paid the bill in full! Please make sure you stand up for yourself and especially stand up for the 4-legged ones that you Love always. Shame Shame on Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital! Intimidation and threats to pay one way or another are just wrong on every level! Take care and make a better decision on who takes care of your precious 4-legged family members! And the office manager told me that basically too bad...we are going to turn you over to collections...WOW! And I paid my bill in full the day I picked up my cats! And it is not my fault that they are incompetent! I am sure many companies make errors....but they should stand tall and accept their mistakes and go on! And I just got that call today on 4/28/17! My experience with Carefree Cats was brought on by a sudden-onset issue with my sweet kitty. I was beside myself with worry and anxiety, yet from the first phone call with receptionist Sophia, I knew I was dealing with people who operate a calming, professional facility. When I arrived, I found an immaculate reception area, pleasant reception, and a very impressive, secure cat boarding area off to the side. Even a cat they have adopted who loves to introduce herself to all newcomers! The first thing I noticed was a tiny dish with a small candle and a sign that indicated if the candle was lit, then somebody was saying goodbye to their loving pet and friend. I found this incredibly touching, considerate, and thoughtful. But hands down, Cheri the vet tech was the hero of the day! The vet we saw that day was new to the practice and very professional, for sure, but it was Cheri that really knew her stuff. Her "cat" stuff, and her "cat people" stuff! She took her time, asking a lot of questions while observing my cat, and making sure that I was ok. She was a great assistant to the vet in keeping my cat safe and calm during the vet's assessment, and again afterward making sure my questions were answered and making herself available to me if I had questions or concerns. When i noticed an issue that may have been missed initially or developed since her first visit, they brought us back in to be seen by Dr. Sober, who really took her time and showed her patience while trying to get a blood pressure on my cat. I felt confident in her assessments and recommendations going forward. I really can't say enough good things about this place! I don't do well with animal crisis type situations, but they put me at ease, and in addition to giving me helpful tips and resources to improve my cat's quality of life moving forward, helped me stay confident that I am doing the best I can for my dear, little friend.Read Less

I called to get my cat in for grooming. I have been here before and they were very nice and the prices reasonable. I called to get a price quote. The person on the phone did not give me the entire quote. I was unaware that anethesia was $2.25 a minute. When I arrived to get him groomed and I found this out I asked how long he would be under (15 year old cat), they said 30 to 45 minutes. This worried me and I wasn't expecting the expense so I opted for another hair style for my cat. The cut was $25 and the anethesia was $85. The cat was dematted but there was not a hair cut. I called them to explain that there was a miscommunication. They agreed to give him a different hair cut. I told them not to give him anethsia. They only cut his back because he got testy. So he is half shaved. I asked them before the second hair cut if I could get 50% of my money back and take him to a groomer that I have used in the past. They said no. Now, do these people really understand cats? Don't you think they would know the cat would protest if someone shaved on his stomach? I appreciate that they tried to make it right the second time. They need to really explain to people their procedure and their policy. I won't be going back. Read Less

A very disappointing and costly experience for m, and a stressful experience for my cats.  The daily charge is extremely high considering you are required to provide food for your cats.  They were very liberal on the number of cans opened for my three cats - they opened THREE cans twice a day!  They went through my premium food in short order.  Unacceptable.I found that they added to the stress of my cats when I discovered they use a vacuum to clean the kennels.  They claim they will allow the cats out individually to wander a little, but they only allow this while they vacuum out the cages. Being a Cats only vet hospital and the price, I would have expected better care of my cats.  NEVER AGAIN. Read Less

I am SO disappointed with our experience with Carefree Cats. We usually use High Plains for our regular vet, but they don't offer boarding so we called Carefree Cats. Our cat has been struggling to urinate so is on two medications (pills) three times a day and a powder that dissolves into water once a day. I left the medication instructions on their form and also typed them up in detail, & we reviewed them with the vet tech when we dropped him off. Carefree decided they couldn't do meds 3x a day so they only gave him his meds twice a day. They left me a voicemail the first full day to tell me he hadn't urinated (BECAUSE THEY REDUCED HIS MEDICINE), never tried to call the second number we listed to reach us (they accidentally called my husband's cell the first day we dropped him off so we thought he was listed as the primary. I didn't realize the missed call I had received was from them), and they didn't even tell me when we picked him up that they'd reduced his meds. I figured it out based on the number of doses they returned to me. They did tell us he only urinated once on his own while with them (because they had reduced his meds!!). I will NEVER trust my cat with them again. Despite them being a cat hospital, do not trust them with your cat if medications are involved. We now lost 3 weeks of progress with our cat's recovery since we need to start all over building up his medications. Read Less

Dr. Moses has so much energy and rapidly growing knowledge, and she cares. I miss Dr. Pollard, mostly retired, but I know Dr. Moses is competent and confident, as well as caring and friendly. That is why I give them a full 5 stars. Read Less

In Sept. 2013 I brought my 4 year old cat to Carefree Cats after he was diagnosed with stomatitis by my primary vet. The plan was to do a FULL extraction of all his teeth. Considering the severity of the procedure, I decided to seek a second opinion, preferably from a place that specialized in felines. I found CatTails, but I just didn't feel that comfortable connection with them especially after being charged for services that I didn't ask for. I then decided to bring my cat to Dr. Moses at Carefree Cats. She was pretty much upfront about everything...condition, diagnosis, price....which is what I expect. No run arounds. They treated me and my cat very well. They were able to do surgery the very next day and since then my cat has been back to his old self...too clingy! Where as before he was very distant from all the pain he was in. The price was very affordable and Dr. Moses even offered a payment arrangement, if I needed it. I was so impressed by the quick, friendly and caring service they provided...from my interaction with the 2 young ladies at the front desk, to the Vet Technicians to Dr Moses that I will be recommending this place to all my cat loving friends and family!UPDATE: I was on vacation in California during Christmas 2013 and had brought my cat with me. He ended up developing a bad cold and was forced to take him to a local Animal Hospital. The Vet who attended us couldn't stop talking about what a great job Dr. Moses did with the teeth extraction! He kept saying he had never seen such a near perfect procedure. Those kind of compliments from other Vets is what reinforces my extreme satisfaction and confidence in Carefree Cats and Dr. Moses! Then the next day they called me and said that they just realized I had marked down that I wanted a nail trim and they realized they never did it (also didn't charge me luckily). Just moved to the springs and I was looking for a feline only veterinarian. I found two, but this was closer to home, so I took a chance. My cat is very aggressive (he has been traumatized by a UTI for which he nearly died. As a result he now hates all vets with a vengeance). I needed to get his teeth cleaned, so I emailed the vet and explained the situation. They told me they would not do surgery without seeing his mouth first. So I took him in. The vet was super young, she got scared by my hissing cat and did not want to touch him, nor did she let the nurse touch him...NOR ME. I was telling her that I would try to open his mouth. She categorically refused as she was afraid he may bite me. She spoke for a whopping 10 minutes with me and told me to schedule a cleaning where they would put him under and then decide if the cleaning was needed or not. Neither the tech, nor the veterinarian, took any vitals of Smokey. They were just too scared. I put him on the scale myself just to get his weight. There was no temperature taking, no listening to his heart beat, no nothing really. The tech was so scared she was literally THROWING him treats (cheap ones at that) rather than feeding them to him. Seriously? You are throwing food at my cat! Seriously! When I walked to the desk I was hit by a $50 visit fee. SERIOUSLY? You did not take vitals, you did not take his weight (I did, the nurse being so afraid was just ridiculous) AND you did not even look into his mouth...and you are charging me a full visit cost??? For real? Ridiculous! I will not bring my cats here EVER. A good veterinarian works with you, he/she does not charge you for services that were NOT rendered! If I could give it no stars I would. Off to find a REAL VET that can handle my cats! :( Read Less

I took my cat to Carefree Cats when I noticed that he had started to loose weight and was not breathing normally. He had been feral as a kitten and was an especially timid but sweet cat. The poor thing was so stressed out on the way to the vet that he wet inside his carry case and I could tell he was terribly frightened when the vet looked him over. Dr Pollard suggested that he keep him overnight and run some tests in the morning. The next morning he called me to tell me that my cat had died but before he died he attacked one of the vet technicians. Then he said, "it was his own fault (the cat's) and that he brought it on himself". I was speechless. He was actually blaming the cat for it's death. Whatever happened to that cat was not something "he brought on himself". It was my fault for not thinking of asking for a sedative to calm the cat down and Dr Pollard's fault for not doing it anyway. It was obvious to both of us how frightened that poor animal was. I have never been back and have no intention of ever using that facility again. Read Less

I first became aware of Carefree Cats 3 years ago when I hear that Dr. Pollard had over 30 years experience and was excellent at diagnosis and treatment, and they have a visiting vet specialist. Dr. Grover. My first experience was very positive, they asked many questions and recommended a change in cat food, which really helped. I brought a litter of newborn kittens there. I was at first not sure if anyone smiled there, confusing lack of smiles for professionalism. Well, it recently became very friendly AND professional with a manager by the name of Joni, who is highly skilled AND compassionate. You will notice the change as soon as you walk in. Give it another try if you don't believe me. They recently changed some staff, adding and eliminating, now everyone is people friendly. Dr. Pollard has around 35 years experience, I believe, and is often mistaken by clients with his serious unemotional appearance. He really does care once you know him. Dr. Grover is both outgoing and highly experienced, I once had her at my appointment. I suggest to those who don't believe me to go back again, you will really notice the difference once you are greeted. They also are extremely good at accuracy, cleanliness, and organizational skills. It is so clean inside there, you could actually say it is the cleanest in town. Their cat boarding is equally clean and quiet. Read Less

The staff treated me well on my first visit, and seeing that I had an over-excited animal in my hands, the assistant behind the counter gave my cat a free toy to play with. Dr. Pollard comes across as blunt and to-the-point, but he genuinely cares for his patients. We took our cat to this office for several visits. The doctor was never friendly, but I thought they were the best since they specialized in cats. Our cat's liver was shutting down and we spent almost $500 to find that out and we did IV fluid and medicines at home. Our cat ended up living for another year. She got very sick a week ago and we knew it was probably time to put her to sleep as she was very jaundiced and losing her appetitie. I called the office and made an appointment. They never explained the process or asked what we wanted to happen. They really didn't say anything except they needed our $180 payment. I tried to tell the assistant what we wanted but she cut me off and said they did it this one way. My husband and I were both crying and very upset. The doctor acted like he didn't even remember us and never said he was sorry we were in the situation or anything. I think the only words he said were ""She's gone."" I'll never go here again and would not recommend it to anyone who loves their pets like family members. Read Less

Colorado Springs Colorado 80917
Shame Shame on Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital!Intimidation and threats to pay one way or another are just wrong on every level! When my cats were there clear back last July 2016 Read Less

When I switched to Carefree Cats those problems just disappeared. My two elderly cats, one that is diabetic, have received great care here...from regular check ups to a relatively major surgery.

Read Less

Moses!

Read Less

The first people who looked at my house bought it so I had to move into the Residence Inn for several months while my new house was being finished. I kenneled my ""indoor/outdoor"" cat at Carefree Cats for about 2.5 months? Johnny Cat was loved and cuddled. They let me visit often... I didn't feel guilty at all for putting him in there because they took such wonderful care of him. Now tonite I pick up a new (but older:) cat from the Humane Society and I have already scheduled Boyd to go to Carefree Cats tomorrow to get neutered. I have the utmost faith he will be taken care of. I will let you know how they treat me and this newest member of my family...once it is said and done. I hope they treat ""patients"" as well as they did their ""kennel guests"". Read Less

Read Less
