My dog needed 8 teeth pulled. I didn't ugh lie the idea. He is a tiny dog. I'm so pleased with the care he got at Cook with Dr Brizendine! He healed rapidly and is like a new dog. I was down in the Springs temporarily and was referred here by my regular veterinarian in the Denver area. Even though I will probably never be returning there since my stay down here was temporary I was treated very well and my dog received the care he needed. Dr. Ramsel took great care of my dog and gave me medication to give my dog which greatly relieved his condition in a short amount of time. We have worked with Cook Veterinary for more than 20 years. Three dogs and three cats over the years seeing the previous vet and Dr. Ramsel and her staff. During this time we've moved north of Colorado Springs and the trip to Dr. Ramsel is 30 minutes for us, but well worth the travel. The staff are professional, knowledgeable, friendly and caring. These guys are absolutely wonderful. I fist went to them with our new puppy late last year. I wanted him to be seen by a caring vet with a loving atmosphere and that's exactly what he got! Now we have 2 doggos and have to get them to Hawaii. They knew exactly what needed to be done and are helping us every step of the way. I've compared pricing and this is definitely where you want to go if you are moving your furbabes to Hawaii. I have been using Cook for a long, long time. My dog was a patient since he was 9 weeks old. I have always loved their service and their downtown location. My dog grew old and it was time to say goodbye to him. I chose to take him back to Cook. Their service is still friendly but it would appear they are not as competitive for pricing as they once were. I believe ownership has changed hands and I am sure they have added new equipment, personnel, and other reasonable costs. I in know way hold this against them. They rising costs are justified, but I have chosen to go elsewhere for future treatment of my pets. I still had a good experience; or to say that they treated me and my dog well considering the circumstances. I stumbled upon Cook Vet Hosp, looking for a vet clinic near our west side home. I can say we've been blessed to have found such an amazing group of wonderful people, from the gals up front, to the techs, to the Dr.'s! Nani and Nevaeh have been treated with care and compassion. We've always been given solid sound diagnosis and advice. The doctors are very informative and knowledgable! They are reasonably priced (though I'd pay more knowing what I know now about the staff and Dr.'s), they are sooooo kind, they adore my girls and I know the girls are in great hands when there (from the small stuff-ie nail trims and the big stuff-ie surgeries). Let me put it as plainly as possible.  Great.  We recently lost a pet to a very fast what we understand may have been a virus.  The kitty was treated by another vet close to us on the westside.  While the cat was likely in duress and would have passed, the whole experience just did not have the right vibe.  Among other things, the cost for a couple of hours of vet time was astronomical.  And there was absolutely NO return to discuss the fact that we had just spent a great deal of money for our kitty cat that passed 12 hours later.  We both felt this would have been somewhat appropriate.  Instead we were left with an empty feeling that we poured a very high price for services and thought at the least some conversation about that would have been possible.  It was not.  Enter Cook Veterinary Hospital.  Our second kitty needed dental work.  Because of the more than uneasy then really distasteful feeling we had with the prior vet, we sought out  Cook Vet Hospital.  Tho e thought what the heck.. let's see what the expensive current vet would charge.  After a checkup, we were handed an estimate for almost $1400.  For the dental work.  We then went to Vet Cook Hospital.  A totally different vibe.  Much much better.  Especially after having just lost one cat.  And an estimate for the same work..  a little over $300 on the low side, slightly over $500 on the high side, depending on what they found when they got in to the procedure.  We went with Cook.  The end game was the procedure ended up being slightly over $400.  This included post op meds, and a followup to make sure things were ok.  We were stunned.  Cook was spot on and did everything we asked and much more to care for our kitty cat.  On the upside, we are happy to report the kitty cat is doing quite fine..... for 2/3rds LESS cost.  And my wife is exceedingly happier on how we were treated for this procedure.  So a long story to say, after having just lost a cat, then going right in to another procedure which generated super high stress for my wife... the same procedure for 2/3rds less cost, on top of things have seemed to go fine.... how do you think we feel?  We will be returning to Cook Vet Hospital no question.  And will NOT be returning to the other westside vet.  And while we should not  second guess what outcome may have occurred had we taken our first cat to Cook.. but that is only natural... we wonder.  Cook Vet Hospital... top shelf.  Mega kudos.  Absolutely top shelf.  Not just what we felt was a beyond fair cost, but their whole operations down to their treatment of our cat, and us as people, exceedingly night and day when compared to the other vet clinic.  Oh, to mention, they did all their labs in house.  This created much anxiety when at the other clinic when we learned some labs were sent out for analysis.  Only to find Cook did these in house.  Huge difference.  We found the whole experience with Cook to be far more comprehensive, far better treatment, and for far FAR less cost. Very kind people and they make you feel comfortable. I take all my animals there and I know they will provide top care. A little on the expensive side, don't just assume that they are the only place you can get the medications. I got the same medication they were giving to my dog for her eye at Walmart for a quarter of the price. Cook has always been good to our family!  They are very considerate and always consider you and your pet's care their #1 priority.  You can tell they care more about helping you than anything else.  They also have reasonable prices and never do unnecessary charges.  Some vets I have used in the past have made me feel like all they want is money, not the case here!  I recommend everyone I know to cook veterinary! I called this morning because my Pomeranian was not well and needed to see a vet. This is where we have always taken our dogs. The receptionist said they had an opening on Monday the 18th. Today is Wednesday. Really???? Unacceptable and we will never be back.Read Less

They were VERY thorough with our 7 month old Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy! The technician came in and asked us why we were in, how our pup was doing that day, and asked if we had any additional questions. We had quite a few. She wrote down every question we asked, and the Vet came in within 5 minutes, or less, and took time answering all of our nervous, puppy parent questions. We were not able to bring a fecal sample to our visit, but that didn't seem to matter one bit, as they were still able to take care of the concern on the spot. They helped set us up with a "Puppy Plan", which not every veterinarian's office offers. They even offer treats for humans who are good (haha). I've never been excited about a Vet before, but Cook's seems great, with very reasonable prices too! Needless to say, I think we've found our vet. :) Read Less

We called multiple offices who told us they couldn't see us, or some who told us to wait until after hours when we could call the emergency vet. When I called Cook the receptionist was very empathetic and told me their day was full but she'd see what she could do. She came back and offered us a time slot within the hour to see the doctor. The office was conveniently located and easy for even a tourist to find. The place was very clean and didn't have that dog/bleach depressing smell a lot of offices get. Our dog couldn't tell it was a vets office until the thermometer went in... Everyone from reception to techs to the doctor were a very warm and welcoming group of ladies. They seemed genuinely concerned and caring, which is very much appreciated from someone who considers their dog a child. They administered fluids and and some medicine, and diet recommendations to get our dog back to her old self. If we were local this would no doubt be our regular doctor. Big thanks from Bea! The actual vet was great! Caring and easy to talk to.. The be assistant wasn't as welcoming. However they got my sick pup in an hr earlier than her appt and fixed her up.. Also about 20$ cheaper than competition! Read Less

I went to the Cook Veterinary Hospital weeks ago with my cat. I was pleased with the doctor's assistant, the girl on the front desk, and the doctor. The consultation, including vaccines and physical examination, lasted only A FEW MINUTES, but I guess that it is normal and average for a healthy and young cat like mine. The rates are affordable, and you can see that in this place they really make an effort to make you feel great. So far, I will continue taking my cat here. Read Less
