I brought my dog in to get a broken tooth fixed. They did pre-surgical blood work, a coagulation panel, full mouth x-rays (unnecessary), cleaned his teeth and submitted a small growth for a biopsy. During the procedure the vet had to drill the broken tooth out because it started to absorb into the jaw bone. Despite their motto that “your pets are our family” the vet said "Your dog is so annoying this is going to cost you" and boy did it. After employee discount total charge was $929.19 (retail $1269.75). The office is extremely dysfunctional with high turn-over. They have a substitute vet on Mondays so the owner can take Mondays off (they are closed on weekends). I would take my pets to Denver before I would ever go back to Monument Vet Clinic. Read Less

Over the last 35 years, I have had dogs born with good genes and some with bad genes, and one that was abused before I owned him.  Dr Pape has provided excellent care to my dogs for the past ~20 years.  She doesn't suggest unnecessary tests (as some other vets have) and she does a great job of explaining why we are doing what needs to be done.  The dogs and I moved to Illinois about 10 years ago, and I still take them in to see "Aunt Leann" every year when we are back in Colorado.  She catches things that other vets miss, takes the time to look into the small stuff, and really teaches me what to keep an eye on. Let me start by saying I am not, a novice dog owner and I have made dogs a part of my career. I have seen over 7 veterinarian's in the Colorado springs area. Some of the vets were decent and others not so much. Dr. Erin DeTurk has hands down been the most thorough Veterinarian I have seen. She is also very willing to work with those of us who are into the "natural food" and or Raw feeders. For those wanting to know, I have 2 mini dachshuds, a Parson Russell Terrier(aka Jack Russell) and a lab. However Dr. Erin has a mastiff and if very giant breed savvy.
