They lied to me about what services they preformed to cover up their incompetencies, and it cost me my dogs life. I got my dog neutered here about 6 years ago. He was cryptorchid (one testicle didn't descend) and after his neutering they called me to tell me that they had run tests on what they removed and concluded it was a lymph node so I needed to bring him back in to remove the testicle. (Since then I have talked to a couple vets about that, and all of them have been astonished that a vet would not be able to tell the difference between an undescended testicle and a lymph node, but I did not know that at the time) About a year later he suddenly started developing dog aggression, so I called Mountain Shadows to verify that they had ran the same tests the second time that they neutered him and that they were sure that they pulled out the testicle and was (rudely) told that yes, they ran the tests, and they were sure that they removed the testicle. He died a couple months ago from cancer that had started in an undescended testicle that had never been removed. If Mountain Shadows had just told the truth me when I asked I would have taken him to another vet who would have then performed the surgery correctly and he still would be alive. But instead they decided to lie to me to cover their incompetencies, and it cost his life. Read Less

how hard can it possibly be to get heartworm medication, apparently extremely difficult at this veterinarians office.. being given the run around 2 times while taking off work and then being told that the vet was busy and I would have to wait.... it's one thing if I had missed appointments but I refuse to do any business with a place that want me to come with my dog for a very simple prescription and they cannot do it for who the hell knows why not. This vetinary clinic is a money pit. We have been their clients for nearly two years and have always felt we were being upsold yet continued to come out of convenience. Recently, however, one of our dogs got hurt. We brought her in for an examination of her wounds. Dr. Durance claimed she needed several sutures and x-rays for broken bones, even though she was running around just fine. I was suspicious as to why she needed so many x-rays and sutures. The bill was upward of $1300! Long story short, we decided it would be wiser to clean the wounds, give her antibiotics, and see how she fares. When we told them out plan, they told us that they would give her pain killers and clean her wounds for us. An hour later they apparently changed their minds and asked us to pick her up...wasting the vital window of time needed to clean her up before a bacterial infection sets in! Their excuse was that she would not allow them to administer the pain medicine shot. Are you kidding me! This is a vetinary clinic! My dog is medium small as well! How did they plan on giving her general anesthesia for her sutures? The bottom line is they were simply interested in extracting a buck and had no regard for my dog's well being. I would definitely not recommend this animal clinic to anyone. Read Less

Dr. Durrance is probably the best vet I have ever had, he is fantastic! Unfortunately the office staff is very disorganized resulting in a substantial amount of wasted time and trips to the office just to complete routine shots for our dogs. After multiple phone conversations and 2 office visits confirming what was needed they still didn't order the right vaccine and wanted us to return for a 3rd visit. This is for K9 influenza, not a special or unique vaccine that would justify special orders. This is not the first time we have had to make multiple trips to get medicine and other items that were out of stock, but having to make 3 trips for routine shots is just bad customer service. We are very sad that after 7 years the slow decline in quality of office staff has resulted in us having to find a new vet. Read Less
