I addressed my concerns with the clinic, before writing this review as they have commented on most of the previous low ratings. "I wish you gave us an opportunity to address your concerns before posting a review". I did and Aspen Park didn't care to rectify the situation, so I wanted to share my experience in hopes of someone else avoiding a similar experience.
Our cat was exhibiting out of the ordinary behavior that caused us to look for a clinic on short notice. We specifically asked if they had any cancellations and could see us that day. We were very grateful that they did, and they were able to see us, despite charging us an additional "fit in fee" for filling their missing schedule.
They immediately wanted to run blood work, urinalysis, and x-rays for a lethargic, sneezing, nauseated cat. Thankfully, I advised that I prefer not to jump right to the x-rays. Upon picking the cat up, her glucose levels were slightly elevated - around 220 I believe. They advised us that the cat likely had diabetes, sent us home with an antibiotic, and wanted a recheck to then begin her on insulin. Given the $700 dollar bill and drastic diagnosis for a 6-year-old cat with no prior illness, we decided to get a second opinion. Aspen Park did not even send us home with a summary of our visit. Upon calling to cancel our follow up appointment, I requested a visit summary and then received an email asking WHY we wouldn't be returning.
Turns out, cats’ glucose levels elevate upon stress (i.e., car ride, having a cold). The second vet told us that she has seen levels as high as 350 just due to stress (we were in the low 200s). This was never even mentioned by Aspen Park. They were ready for us to start giving the cat insulin. Our cat had a respiratory infection, and our follow up visit was $45.
I expressed my concerns, gave them the feedback from our second opinion, asked for a partial refund, and was told they are sorry for the miscommunication and that their prices are higher due to their holistic nature.
