My roommate and I brought our dogs to AHCD for a stretch of about a year. During that time, one of their vets (Dr Kaitlyn Hart- License #VET.0011072) put my White Swiss Shepherd on Apoquel for what she thought was allergies. My biggest mistake and regret was trusting the vet’s “professional” opinion on the matter. If you do any research on Apoquel, the first thing you find out is that it is a harsh immunosuppressant and can cause some pretty rough side-affects if not properly managed and supervised by your vet. There are plenty horror stories on this drug to be found online. The next thing you’ll find is that the biggest warning is to NEVER give Apoquel to dogs younger than 12 months old. When I first brought my dog in for this issue, she was 8.5 months old (Too young to properly be prescribed Apoquel), and the vet assumed it was allergies without doing any of the proper tests to rule out demodectic mange or other skin issues that could be causing this. Again, I severely regret trusting this vet’s opinion and treatment plan. As the skin condition didn’t really get better, the vet continued to prescribe Apoquel without insisting on bringing her in again to run more tests or try a different course of action, other than she said the “allergies” might be caused by her food. As the months went by, the skin issue only got worse, and my dog’s immune system was severely suppressed to the point where somewhere she picked up parvovirus and it ravaged her body to the point she died on the day she turned 11 months old. In less than 3 months of “treatment” by Dr Hart, my dog went from a 8.5 month old healthy dog with a little skin issue, to dead. This just shouldn’t happen, especially when the vets should not be prescribing drugs that they do not know enough about. Some of you may blame me for not doing the research, but trust me, I blame myself daily for not doing more, and blindly trusting the opinion and direction of an “educated professional” that should be able to read to the insert sheet for a drug that she is freely prescribing to patients.
After the death of my dog, my roommate and I requested all of the care records from AHCD for our dogs, because we obviously wouldn’t be taking them there anymore. This was an issue with them, as they didn’t seem to want to give the information to me, knowing that my dog had just died. I had to call twice and the person I spoke to seemed very wary of why I was requesting this. When we received the documents, my roommate found out that they had been withholding information about her dog’s appointments. They had never raised any issues with my roommate, but the care records said her dog was nervous and had to be muzzled by the vet techs, but none of this had been mentioned to my roommate. Keep in mind this was back in the period where they didn’t allow owners to go in during appointments, which made it convenient for them to treat the dogs however without the owner knowing. This was with the other vet from Dr Hart that they had at the time. You may not think this is serious, but I know I would certainly want to know about these issues so they can be addressed and not cause the dog any further trauma when going to the vet or dealing with other situations.
If you’ve made it this far, and you are thinking to yourself “That’s just your experience with this vet, that won’t be mine”, then go ahead and use this vet at your own risk. With my experience with these two dogs and this vet, I would not recommend this vet to anyone. This vet just doesn’t exude professionalism, and they seem to withhold information that they don’t want to share.

And a very heartfelt thank you to those who took the time to write many words of support and validation within a beautiful sympathy card because we had to put our Todd Wilson to rest. We’re so grateful. Dr. Sayer and Dr. Leberl even took their time to write individual paragraphs of heartfelt words of sympathy, but most importantly assured us that we made the safe, logical and right decision. Words cannot express how thankful we are to have found the best vet in Denver!

When a sweet stray wondered into my yard on Mother's Day, I got online to make an appointment here for first thing Monday. This was a beautiful bulldog and I just knew he'd have a chip. I got a call from a wonderful vet that same day, a Sunday, Mother's Day, to swing by and she'd help by reading the chip info. With her help we got the dog back to his home across town to a teary-eyed little girl and a grateful family. These guys go the extra mile. Their Rockstars!

We've been bringing both our dogs here for 7+ years since they were puppies. The service has always been outstanding. One dog has suffered from severe allergies his whole life and animal health care has guided us through several treatments until we found the right one. Their thoughtful care has ensured our lab has had a normal and healthy life. I've referred several friends here as well who have had similar experiences. We have moved across town but find it's still worth the drive. I can't say enough praise for this vet!

I am not one to write a nasty review but I am completely fed up. My dog went in to have stem cell injections in his hips and they only sent him home with ibuprofen and an antibiotic. I called the vet to see if we could get him some more pain meds because he is in so much pain and I got the receptionist on the phone that talked down to me and couldn't even give me an answer to any of my concerns. I then called my later and got a different receptionist and she said that she left a note for the vet to call me and it has been 4 days and now there was a voicemail left saying that my dog was suppose to be sent home with pain meds. I am furious. My dog has been in a ton of pain and they never helped him.

I would recommend Animal Health Care Denver to anyone. The staff is great and the doctors are knowledgeable. We were introduced to them when our old vet recommended amputation for our puppy and we wanted another opinion. Dr. Sayer had a different idea and the leg was saved. Not only are the doctor's great, but the cost is less than that of other vets. It's a win-win situation!

The love of animals is what the Animal Health Care vet practice is all about, plain and simple.They doctors and staff are loving and caring and far more intuitive to what might be ailing one's pet. They solved a serious medical problem with my son's dog that three other vets, including a VCA practice could not even come up with a suggestion as to what the problem was.
When I bring my dogs to their office the care and service is unsurpassed. Every pet that comes in is loved, and cared for with amazing tenderness. The practice is not glamorous, or concerned with superfluous decorative nonsense, which allows them to keep their fees unbelievably reasonable and put money where it is most important knowledge, care, service, medical supplies and equipment. The only thing that matters at Animal Health Care is taking care of one's pet and the pet's family.

I am writing this review, not because of the medical attention my pets received, but for the deception of the new ownership! I believe the new Dr./owner to be well informed and great with my dogs, but I preferred the original owner Dr. David Schulman (he was fantastic). I have been bringing my dogs here for 6 years, and had 2 ACL surgeries in that time. The care and cost were unbelievable! Hence why I continued my 40 mile (one way) drive to continue my support for this clinic. BUT, when the ownership changed, I was NOT informed, nor was I informed that it was not longer a LOW COST clinic... when the $650 bill came at the end of our session. I do not respect people like this!!! Using Dr. David's client list to better your income, sneaky and low!!!

My two cattle dogs have been coming here for years. Leeloo is fear agressive and has to be muzzled to be treated. Everyone there knows how she is. They deal with her professionally and with love. Dr. Sayer lets me sedate her before I bring her in and that helps a lot. She had a major middle ear infection, which you can't see by just looking. Dr. Sayer saw that something wasn't right and recommended surgery. Their surgeon was able to clean it all out and close it off to avoid further possible trauma. It was a very serious surgery that saved her life and it was only $1800. They have the best prices in town.Pearl had so much trouble with itching when we first got her. We tried everything. AHCD allergy tested her at a very reasonable price. It turns out that she's allergic to everything we walk in and around every day. She is now on an allergy medicine that is made for her specific allergies. She no longer has any sores or itching and is a happy girl.Everyone at ACHD takes the time to hear your concerns. They always offer options when available and have good solutions. They are all very good at what they do and they really love your pets!

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! If you need an ACL surgery for a dog over 60lbs do not even consider this place an option. The staff is very nice, but the doctors obviously have no clue what a bigger dog needs for ACL repair or they just want your money. Not only one surgery failed but the second one failed as well. They don't properly fix and stabilize the knee, they simply throw a piece of fishing line in there and tell you to pray the scar tissue heals it. After the second surgery and over $3000 and 6 months of my dogs life I realized I you get what you pay for. Then when I asked the asked the surgeon where to go from there his exact response was "you are just going to have to learn to live with it." I literally was at a loss of words. So I contacted Deer Creek Animal Hospital and had a TPLO done which re shapes the bone and stabilizes knee. My dog was running and hiking with me 3 months later. The reason I'm so upset is they should have told me that a bigger dog needs a REAL SURGERY. Instead of taking my money twice. Then telling me to live with it instead of recommending another doctor. Even the Doctors at Deer creek said that they have had many people bring them their dogs to be fixed from same surgeon that this place uses. Judy is the best though. Very nice and helpful.

Superb care. Recommended by a family member after issues with previous vet. What a difference. AHC did a really great job with a spay and actually took the time to sit down during the first visit and asked about the puppy. Not just 'are there any problems?' but baseline stuff like normal activity levels, etc. Gave advice without seeming condescending and didn't push products. I ended up buying a bunch of stuff there anyway in gratitude.
The surgery was handled very well and the post-op care was awesome. They knew how much water she'd drank and how many times she'd urinated since waking up. Comforting to know they pay that close attention.
They even called a few days later just to check up on her.
So yep, I highly recommend this place.

This is an incredible clinic! Trust me I have been to multiple vetenary clinics all around Colorado and sadly had an animal, a female dog, die under the care of another clinic I will not be returning to! I ponder the "what if" had I taken her to this clinic! My two elderly male dogs have been taken care of superbly since beginning my relationship with this clinic! I will not be leaving this clinic ever due to their expertise, knowledge, professionalism, compassion, pricing, thoroughness, and regard for our animals and us as animal owners. My mother found this clinic and got me hooked! Seeing is believing and when you decide to visit this clinic you will be just as happy as the rest of us. They are non-profit so nobody is out for money only the customers satisfaction and the well-being of our beloved pets! They can diagnose, treat, and help animals that have been given a time stamp just waiting to pass away without the owner knowing any different. Please check them out for the sake of your best friend!! I can't thank them enough for taking care of mine!

I cannot say enough good words about this vet. Our dog was having so many issues switching to an adult dog food. We tried everything to no avail. We realized it was probably something we couldn't handle with just a diet change so we took her to Animal Health Care. I don't remember our tech or vet's name, but they were amazing. The vet knew exactly what was happening and what antibiotic to put her on without making us pay a ridiculous amount of money for useless tests. Here we are a few weeks later and our dog is on adult food with no issues. At one point the vet said 'I want it to be like they're coming to grandma's house!' and it was just like that. I'm so thankful :)

Animal Health Care Denver doesn't even deserve one star. I've never experienced such poor service from a veterinary hospital in my years of being a pet owner.
After doing personal research, I decided to keep my 5 year old cat all natural and not getting her spayed. I recently moved into the Denver area and never once before got the 3rd degree from vet professionals about getting my cat spayed.
After telling them I wasn't interested they still went out of their way to show me a photo of a cat uterus after the procedure and gave me an estimate of $220 for the procedure to be done to my feline.
After telling me there was absolutely no chance I would be doing that, they tell me that they don't see animals that aren't spayed or neutered.
Seemed to me this is just a way for this "hospital" to make money, there isn't a true interest in animal care with these "doctors," not to mention
the doctors never even introduced themselves.
I'LL BE TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE and I advise for you to do the same if you truly love your furry friend.

You'd never know to look at him, but my pooch is pushing 10 years old, putting him in the "senior dog" category. He's recently started showing some of those signs. He's a little stiff in the morning, his skin is more sensitive, etc. Basically he's becoming a little more high maintenance. But since he's been fair low maintenance his whole life, I can deal with it.I like this place because they specialize senior pet care. They have a specific package designed to test for some of the more common ailments in older dogs and it's well worth it. On top of that, their prices are very affordable, even when you put it off and they all pile up at once, like the author of this post. If your pooch or cat is entering its twilight years, I highly recommend this place.

I can't believe I keep forgetting to write a review about this place. The people who work here are so wonderful and kind. They really care about the animals and will always do what is best. They know you and your pet by name. They charge the lowest prices in town and I believe they do the best work. My dog has had troubles ever since I adopted him. He came to me with fleas and parasites. I was offered a puppy pack, which REALLY helped me out--I paid a certain amount of money, and all of his vet checkups/appointments were free until he was six months old, he got a free fecal exam, free pre-neuter exam, three free doses of Heartgard, and a few other things that I don't remember. We DEFINITELY made use of those free checkups because EVERYTHING happens to my dog. The people here are knowledgeable, attentive, and gentle. We have been to this vet a lot, and my dog loves them. When we get close, I can see his tail pop up and start wagging in my rearview mirror--I don't think it's just because he's super friendly, I think he genuinely loves the people there. He's never acted scared to go to the vet and I think it's because of how well he has been treated and handled. I can't say enough about this place.

We've been taking our Lab and Cattle Dog to Animal Health Care Denver for years. We were nervous when Dr. Schulman retired because he provided the most thorough care and saved our lab's life twice! She's had two exploratory surgeries (one for fluff from a toy and one for a shard or a beef bone) and she is doing great now! The surgeries were so affordable and they made sure not to exceed our estimate.
Recently, our 2.5 y.o. cattle dog went into shock and we had to take her to a VCA Hospital Emergency Room. We $5k for 2 nights in the ER to find out she had Pancreatitis and suffered major liver damage. On Monday we were able to discharge her from the hospital and brought her to AHCD to follow up. She needed 3 more nights of IV fluids and antibiotics, as well as a healthy liver diet. We felt terrible leaving her for 3 days since she was starting to get her energy level back but the technicians went above and beyond to make sure she was loved on all day and night. They snuggled with her and let us bring her blanket and two toys. We even got picture and video texts every morning and night from our main technician. Our bill for 3 nights here was less than $800!!!
*They told us they were happy we went to the VCA ER while she was in shock, because they were better equipped to treat the condition she was in at the time. But if you must go to an expensive ER, try to transfer your pet here as soon as they are stable. It will save you tons of money!*
Her blood test after the hospitalization came back completely normal other than the liver enzyme, which will take extended treatment at home. I can't say enough about the level of care our pups receive here.

So far I have been pretty impressed. I have only had my dogs to them a few times, but Dr. Schulman is straight forward and I never feel like they are selling me anything or are being disingenuous. I have seen MANY veterinarians in my life. The prices are very reasonable. They were recommended by my vet in Colorado Springs where I once lived. I am grateful for the referral. :)

We ended up here when our regular vet suddenly closed without warning leaving us stranded. My kitty broke a tooth off a month ago when he started (and won) a fight with the dog. He suddenly was having a bunch of pain and was holding his mouth open drooling. We took him to the clinic the vet who closed on us recommended. They weren't very helpful and wanted at least $1500 for a dental on my cat and they said they may be able to fit him in a week or two even though he was symptomatic and miserable! I found Animal Healthcare Specialists online while to trying to find a place that would provide care at a reasonable cost. My husband had just ended up I'm the hospital unexpectedly leaving us with a large co-pay on top of our already tight budget because my income is the only income we have right now so we definitely didn't have $1500 to drop on a cat dental. Animal Healthcare Specialists fit us in for the exam to get the dental scheduled the next day. When they saw how bad his teeth were and the level of discomfort he was in they didn't schedule a dental, they did it right then even though it was 3:20pm! Because it was so late they said they would like to keep him overnight and would do so at no cost. They monitored him closely and kept him comfortable. He was still holding his jaw open so they kept him another night syringe feeding him every hour, again at no cost. The dental cost was 1/5th of what the other clinic wanted and they actually cared about my cat and making him feel better! Everyone was so kind and helpful, Dr. Kubacki is awesome! Everything seemed too good to be true, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. However it wasn't too good to be true, they took amazing care of my boy and there were no hidden costs what so ever. Any other clinic would have charged extra per tooth they had to extract, for the overnight care, for the follow up x-rays, for the medications to go home on, etc they did not. I know where our furry kiddos will be going from now on!

The vet takes her time with us and makes sure all of our questions are answered. The vet techs are delightful, friendly, and very knowledgeable.

If your pet isn't spayed or neutered, skip over them because the vet will cop and attitude and recommend surgery even on a senior animal. Definitely an agenda.

I love this vet. My dog was having issues at only 5yrs old and the other vet I was going to said we needed to put her down and I went here for a second opinion and after tests and a couple nights stay they found out she was highly allergic to something in her food and she has done great since. This is the only vet I will ever go to. I love the down to earth staff and their honesty even of it is hard to swallow sometimes. I also appreciate that they don't try to sell me things that my dog doesn't need. I send all my friends and family here and would recommend them to anyone with a 4 legged friend.

I had previously never heard of this vet clinic prior to volunteering as a foster for a local (and awesome) rescue group. I took my foster dog there for quite a big surgery. Sadly people dump off old dogs with cancer and shelters to "be adopted." That's entirely another story but non the less that's when I swoop in and foster/adopt them. I have waited to post a review until I had been there many times. So they have proved themselves to me. I hate to say it that way but if you had a kid you would want to respect the pediatrician, am I wrong? Well, these four legged ones ARE my babies.I have found with other "low cost" clinics they skimp on pain meds (and things unimaginable). When my sweet foster girl came home she was totally doped up (in a good way). No animal should suffer as far as I am concerned. She was fine the next day and I continued with pain meds, antibiotics etc.Here is what you will NOT find at Animal Health Care Specialist: State of the art waiting room (cost would be passed down to you) A dog/cat "spa" (cost would be passed down to you) Fancy building, vets trying to "sell" you on a ton of crap your animal doesn't need (they have to pay for all that "fanciness" somehow). Medications that are packaged in alot of "waste". You may have to wait so be prepared but it's worth your time.Here is what you WILL find" Totally down to earth staff. An old shabby house in the middle of I guess, no where (but super easy to get to with plenty of parking). If they can whip up a salve or concoction in a ziplock bag, then that's what you get (saving you TONS of money~i so appreciate their simplicity!) The kindest receptionist, Judy! What a joy to talk to! If you have a dog that you have recently learned is totally aggressive around other dogs you wait outside or in your car and gladly will come get you!I have so great things I could say about this place. I have seen three different vets and they are all so down to earth and compassionate. I understand one vet could rub people the wrong way. I am guessing a little east coast by the accent but honestly this vet is to the point, no non sense and kinda black and white and VERY practical. MUCH appreciated! It was questionable for me how I felt the first couple of times until I brought a SUPER SUPER ill puppy in (on behalf of the rescue) and I saw how compassionate this person was. I would suggest to others to not take anything personally and if you needs hugs and kisses, get them from your pet or a friend if you're rubbed the wrong way. I have confidence in all the vets I have seen. This is huge coming from me because I have been through about 65% of the vets in Denver...just sayin"One more great thing: I had a dead battery and the vet tech was so helpful and helped me in freezing cold weather! What more can this place offer I ask? Wow...I am transferring all my four legged kids there!

This is the best vet that I've ever taken my dogs and cat to. I've lived all over Denver and Fort Collins and love this place - and I would say I'm a person who is hard on my vets. I also run an animal rescue and work with Animal Health Care Specialists - they are amazing. They have the best interest of the pet in mind, so if you can't handle hearing that you need to change something to make your pet healthier, I guess you may not like this place, but isn't the point keeping your pets as healthy as they can be?They have the BEST prices in town, have a huge emphasis on adoption and rescue and they even have their own foundation to do surgeries that owners can't pay for ... like I said this place is all about the animals, so if you love your pet, take them here.

Honestly, I couldn't say enough about Animal Health Care specialists. Unfortunately and fortunately, I've been here way too many times. I'm beginning to think that Bentley my golden likes Animal Health Cares so much that he feigns illness just so he can come here. But in all seriousness, we have had some serious scares and tough times and Dr. Schulman and his staff have seen us through them. Although we wouldn't put a price on Bentley's care, it has made things easier for us that the prices were reasonable. Every other vet I've been to has made me feel like they are looking for something wrong in my dog so they can charge me more money. I feel pretty confident in Dr. Schulman's opinion and care. That being said, Bentley is looking for a job to help pay some of his medical expenses.

After visiting 3 other vet clinics and getting the run around, we were desparate for a good vet. Animal Health Care Specialists was recommended to us by several different people as an affordable, reliable veterinary clinic. All the recommendations were right on track. Dr. Schulman is a no-nonsense vet who gets straight to the point and he is good at what he does. I wouldn't want anyone else taking care of my dog. Better yet, the costs are frequently half what we paid at other clinics. AHCS is also a supporter of Tails of Woe which is a non-profit that helps pet owners who can't afford veterinary services.There are a couple things you should know before you go:First, this is not a fancy vet clinic. The building is run-down, the waiting area is microscopic, and the support staff seem overworked and disorganized.Second, you're going to have to wait for your appointment, so bring some reading material. But, I don't mind waiting for Dr Schulman's expertise. (He saved my dog's life.)

My roommate and I brought our dogs to AHCD for a stretch of about a year. During that time, one of their vets (Dr Kaitlyn Hart- License #VET.0011072) put my White Swiss Shepherd on Apoquel for what she thought was allergies. My biggest mistake and regret was trusting the vet’s “professional” opinion on the matter. If you do any research on Apoquel, the first thing you find out is that it is a harsh immunosuppressant and can cause some pretty rough side-affects if not properly managed and supervised by your vet. There are plenty horror stories on this drug to be found online. The next thing you’ll find is that the biggest warning is to NEVER give Apoquel to dogs younger than 12 months old. When I first brought my dog in for this issue, she was 8.5 months old (Too young to properly be prescribed Apoquel), and the vet assumed it was allergies without doing any of the proper tests to rule out demodectic mange or other skin issues that could be causing this. Again, I severely regret trusting this vet’s opinion and treatment plan. As the skin condition didn’t really get better, the vet continued to prescribe Apoquel without insisting on bringing her in again to run more tests or try a different course of action, other than she said the “allergies” might be caused by her food. As the months went by, the skin issue only got worse, and my dog’s immune system was severely suppressed to the point where somewhere she picked up parvovirus and it ravaged her body to the point she died on the day she turned 11 months old. In less than 3 months of “treatment” by Dr Hart, my dog went from a 8.5 month old healthy dog with a little skin issue, to dead. This just shouldn’t happen, especially when the vets should not be prescribing drugs that they do not know enough about. Some of you may blame me for not doing the research, but trust me, I blame myself daily for not doing more, and blindly trusting the opinion and direction of an “educated professional” that should be able to read to the insert sheet for a drug that she is freely prescribing to patients.
After the death of my dog, my roommate and I requested all of the care records from AHCD for our dogs, because we obviously wouldn’t be taking them there anymore. This was an issue with them, as they didn’t seem to want to give the information to me, knowing that my dog had just died. I had to call twice and the person I spoke to seemed very wary of why I was requesting this. When we received the documents, my roommate found out that they had been withholding information about her dog’s appointments. They had never raised any issues with my roommate, but the care records said her dog was nervous and had to be muzzled by the vet techs, but none of this had been mentioned to my roommate. Keep in mind this was back in the period where they didn’t allow owners to go in during appointments, which made it convenient for them to treat the dogs however without the owner knowing. This was with the other vet from Dr Hart that they had at the time. You may not think this is serious, but I know I would certainly want to know about these issues so they can be addressed and not cause the dog any further trauma when going to the vet or dealing with other situations.
If you’ve made it this far, and you are thinking to yourself “That’s just your experience with this vet, that won’t be mine”, then go ahead and use this vet at your own risk. With my experience with these two dogs and this vet, I would not recommend this vet to anyone. This vet just doesn’t exude professionalism, and they seem to withhold information that they don’t want to share.

We've been bringing both our dogs here for 7+ years since they were puppies. The service has always been outstanding. One dog has suffered from severe allergies his whole life and animal health care has guided us through several treatments until we found the right one. I called the vet to see if we could get him some more pain meds because he is in so much pain and I got the receptionist on the phone that talked down to me and couldn't even give me an answer to any of my concerns. I then called my later and got a different receptionist and she said that she left a note for the vet to call me and it has been 4 days and now there was a voicemail left saying that my dog was suppose to be sent home with pain meds. I am furious. My dog has been in a ton of pain and they never helped him.

The love of animals is what the Animal Health Care vet practice is all about, plain and simple.They doctors and staff are loving and caring and far more intuitive to what might be ailing one's pet. They solved a serious medical problem with my son's dog that three other vets, including a VCA practice could not even come up with a suggestion as to what the problem was.
When I bring my dogs to their office the care and service is unsurpassed. Every pet that comes in is loved, and cared for with amazing tenderness. The practice is not glamorous, or concerned with superfluous decorative nonsense, which allows them to keep their fees unbelievably reasonable and put money where it is most important knowledge, care, service, medical supplies and equipment. The only thing that matters at Animal Health Care is taking care of one's pet and the pet's family.

I believe the new Dr./owner to be well informed and great with my dogs, but I preferred the original owner Dr. David Schulman (he was fantastic). I have been bringing my dogs here for 6 years, and had 2 ACL surgeries in that time. The care and cost were unbelievable! Hence why I continued my 40 mile (one way) drive to continue my support for this clinic. BUT, when the ownership changed, I was NOT informed, nor was I informed that it was not longer a LOW COST clinic... when the $650 bill came at the end of our session. I do not respect people like this!!! Using Dr. David's client list to better your income, sneaky and low!!!

My two cattle dogs have been coming here for years. Leeloo is fear agressive and has to be muzzled to be treated. Everyone there knows how she is. They deal with her professionally and with love. Dr. Sayer lets me sedate her before I bring her in and that helps a lot. She had a major middle ear infection, which you can't see by just looking. Dr. Sayer saw that something wasn't right and recommended surgery. Their surgeon was able to clean it all out and close it off to avoid further possible trauma. It was a very serious surgery that saved her life and it was only $1800. They have the best prices in town.Pearl had so much trouble with itching when we first got her. We tried everything. AHCD allergy tested her at a very reasonable price. It turns out that she's allergic to everything we walk in and around every day. She is now on an allergy medicine that is made for her specific allergies. She no longer has any sores or itching and is a happy girl.Everyone at ACHD takes the time to hear your concerns. They always offer options when available and have good solutions. They are all very good at what they do and they really love your pets!

They are very personable and compassionate and really now their stuff. I recommend this location for anyone with pets. I feel at home there.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! If you need an ACL surgery for a dog over 60lbs do not even consider this place an option. The staff is very nice, but the doctors obviously have no clue what a bigger dog needs for ACL repair or they just want your money. Not only one surgery failed but the second one failed as well. They don't properly fix and stabilize the knee, they simply throw a piece of fishing line in there and tell you to pray the scar tissue heals it. After the second surgery and over $3000 and 6 months of my dogs life I realized I you get what you pay for. Then when I asked the asked the surgeon where to go from there his exact response was "you are just going to have to learn to live with it." I literally was at a loss of words. So I contacted Deer Creek Animal Hospital and had a TPLO done which re shapes the bone and stabilizes knee. My dog was running and hiking with me 3 months later. The reason I'm so upset is they should have told me that a bigger dog needs a REAL SURGERY. Instead of taking my money twice. Then telling me to live with it instead of recommending another doctor. Even the Doctors at Deer creek said that they have had many people bring them their dogs to be fixed from same surgeon that this place uses. Judy is the best though. Very nice and helpful.

Superb care. Recommended by a family member after issues with previous vet. What a difference. AHC did a really great job with a spay and actually took the time to sit down during the first visit and asked about the puppy. Not just 'are there any problems?' but baseline stuff like normal activity levels, etc. Gave advice without seeming condescending and didn't push products. I ended up buying a bunch of stuff there anyway in gratitude.
The surgery was handled very well and the post-op care was awesome. They knew how much water she'd drank and how many times she'd urinated since waking up. Comforting to know they pay that close attention.
They even called a few days later just to check up on her.
So yep, I highly recommend this place.

This is an incredible clinic! Trust me I have been to multiple vetenary clinics all around Colorado and sadly had an animal, a female dog, die under the care of another clinic I will not be returning to! I ponder the "what if" had I taken her to this clinic! My two elderly male dogs have been taken care of superbly since beginning my relationship with this clinic! I will not be leaving this clinic ever due to their expertise, knowledge, professionalism, compassion, pricing, thoroughness, and regard for our animals and us as animal owners. My mother found this clinic and got me hooked! Seeing is believing and when you decide to visit this clinic you will be just as happy as the rest of us. They are non-profit so nobody is out for money only the customers satisfaction and the well-being of our beloved pets! They can diagnose, treat, and help animals that have been given a time stamp just waiting to pass away without the owner knowing any different. Please check them out for the sake of your best friend!! I can't thank them enough for taking care of mine!

I cannot say enough good words about this vet. Our dog was having so many issues switching to an adult dog food. We tried everything to no avail. We realized it was probably something we couldn't handle with just a diet change so we took her to Animal Health Care. I don't remember our tech or vet's name, but they were amazing. The vet knew exactly what was happening and what antibiotic to put her on without making us pay a ridiculous amount of money for useless tests. Here we are a few weeks later and our dog is on adult food with no issues. At one point the vet said 'I want it to be like they're coming to grandma's house!' and it was just like that. I'm so thankful :)

Animal Health Care Denver doesn't even deserve one star. I've never experienced such poor service from a veterinary hospital in my years of being a pet owner.
After doing personal research, I decided to keep my 5 year old cat all natural and not getting her spayed. I recently moved into the Denver area and never once before got the 3rd degree from vet professionals about getting my cat spayed.
After telling them I wasn't interested they still went out of their way to show me a photo of a cat uterus after the procedure and gave me an estimate of $220 for the procedure to be done to my feline.
After telling me there was absolutely no chance I would be doing that, they tell me that they don't see animals that aren't spayed or neutered.
Seemed to me this is just a way for this "hospital" to make money, there isn't a true interest in animal care with these "doctors," not to mention
the doctors never even introduced themselves.
I'LL BE TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE and I advise for you to do the same if you truly love your furry friend.

You'd never know to look at him, but my pooch is pushing 10 years old, putting him in the "senior dog" category. He's recently started showing some of those signs. He's a little stiff in the morning, his skin is more sensitive, etc. Basically he's becoming a little more high maintenance. But since he's been fair low maintenance his whole life, I can deal with it.I like this place because they specialize senior pet care. They have a specific package designed to test for some of the more common ailments in older dogs and it's well worth it. On top of that, their prices are very affordable, even when you put it off and they all pile up at once, like the author of this post. If your pooch or cat is entering its twilight years, I highly recommend this place.

I can't believe I keep forgetting to write a review about this place. The people who work here are so wonderful and kind. They really care about the animals and will always do what is best. They know you and your pet by name. They charge the lowest prices in town and I believe they do the best work. My dog has had troubles ever since I adopted him. He came to me with fleas and parasites. I was offered a puppy pack, which REALLY helped me out--I paid a certain amount of money, and all of his vet checkups/appointments were free until he was six months old, he got a free fecal exam, free pre-neuter exam, three free doses of Heartgard, and a few other things that I don't remember. We DEFINITELY made use of those free checkups because EVERYTHING happens to my dog. The people here are knowledgeable, attentive, and gentle. We have been to this vet a lot, and my dog loves them. When we get close, I can see his tail pop up and start wagging in my rearview mirror--I don't think it's just because he's super friendly, I think he genuinely loves the people there. He's never acted scared to go to the vet and I think it's because of how well he has been treated and handled. I can't say enough about this place.

We've been taking our Lab and Cattle Dog to Animal Health Care Denver for years. We were nervous when Dr. Schulman retired because he provided the most thorough care and saved our lab's life twice! She's had two exploratory surgeries (one for fluff from a toy and one for a shard or a beef bone) and she is doing great now! The surgeries were so affordable and they made sure not to exceed our estimate.
Recently, our 2.5 y.o. cattle dog went into shock and we had to take her to a VCA Hospital Emergency Room. We $5k for 2 nights in the ER to find out she had Pancreatitis and suffered major liver damage. On Monday we were able to discharge her from the hospital and brought her to AHCD to follow up. She needed 3 more nights of IV fluids and antibiotics, as well as a healthy liver diet. We felt terrible leaving her for 3 days since she was starting to get her energy level back but the technicians went above and beyond to make sure she was loved on all day and night. They snuggled with her and let us bring her blanket and two toys. We even got picture and video texts every morning and night from our main technician. Our bill for 3 nights here was less than $800!!!
*They told us they were happy we went to the VCA ER while she was in shock, because they were better equipped to treat the condition she was in at the time. But if you must go to an expensive ER, try to transfer your pet here as soon as they are stable. It will save you tons of money!*
Her blood test after the hospitalization came back completely normal other than the liver enzyme, which will take extended treatment at home. I can't say enough about the level of care our pups receive here.

I have seen MANY veterinarians in my life. The prices are very reasonable. They were recommended by my vet in Colorado Springs where I once lived. I am grateful for the referral. :)

We ended up here when our regular vet suddenly closed without warning leaving us stranded. My kitty broke a tooth off a month ago when he started (and won) a fight with the dog. He suddenly was having a bunch of pain and was holding his mouth open drooling. We took him to the clinic the vet who closed on us recommended. They weren't very helpful and wanted at least $1500 for a dental on my cat and they said they may be able to fit him in a week or two even though he was symptomatic and miserable! I found Animal Healthcare Specialists online while to trying to find a place that would provide care at a reasonable cost. My husband had just ended up I'm the hospital unexpectedly leaving us with a large co-pay on top of our already tight budget because my income is the only income we have right now so we definitely didn't have $1500 to drop on a cat dental. Animal Healthcare Specialists fit us in for the exam to get the dental scheduled the next day. When they saw how bad his teeth were and the level of discomfort he was in they didn't schedule a dental, they did it right then even though it was 3:20pm! Because it was so late they said they would like to keep him overnight and would do so at no cost. They monitored him closely and kept him comfortable. He was still holding his jaw open so they kept him another night syringe feeding him every hour, again at no cost. The dental cost was 1/5th of what the other clinic wanted and they actually cared about my cat and making him feel better! Everyone was so kind and helpful, Dr. Kubacki is awesome! Everything seemed too good to be true, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. However it wasn't too good to be true, they took amazing care of my boy and there were no hidden costs what so ever. Any other clinic would have charged extra per tooth they had to extract, for the overnight care, for the follow up x-rays, for the medications to go home on, etc they did not. I know where our furry kiddos will be going from now on!

Now I take my kitten there and they are fabulous with her. The kitten package they offer is a really great deal and saved us money. The vet takes her time with us and makes sure all of our questions are answered. The vet techs are delightful, friendly, and very knowledgeable.

If your pet isn't spayed or neutered, skip over them because the vet will cop and attitude and recommend surgery even on a senior animal. Definitely an agenda.

I love this vet. My dog was having issues at only 5yrs old and the other vet I was going to said we needed to put her down and I went here for a second opinion and after tests and a couple nights stay they found out she was highly allergic to something in her food and she has done great since. This is the only vet I will ever go to. I love the down to earth staff and their honesty even of it is hard to swallow sometimes. I also appreciate that they don't try to sell me things that my dog doesn't need. I send all my friends and family here and would recommend them to anyone with a 4 legged friend.

I had previously never heard of this vet clinic prior to volunteering as a foster for a local (and awesome) rescue group. I took my foster dog there for quite a big surgery. Sadly people dump off old dogs with cancer and shelters to "be adopted." That's entirely another story but non the less that's when I swoop in and foster/adopt them. I have waited to post a review until I had been there many times. So they have proved themselves to me. I hate to say it that way but if you had a kid you would want to respect the pediatrician, am I wrong? Well, these four legged ones ARE my babies.I have found with other "low cost" clinics they skimp on pain meds (and things unimaginable). When my sweet foster girl came home she was totally doped up (in a good way). No animal should suffer as far as I am concerned. She was fine the next day and I continued with pain meds, antibiotics etc.Here is what you will NOT find at Animal Health Care Specialist: State of the art waiting room (cost would be passed down to you) A dog/cat "spa" (cost would be passed down to you) Fancy building, vets trying to "sell" you on a ton of crap your animal doesn't need (they have to pay for all that "fanciness" somehow). Medications that are packaged in alot of "waste". You may have to wait so be prepared but it's worth your time.Here is what you WILL find" Totally down to earth staff. An old shabby house in the middle of I guess, no where (but super easy to get to with plenty of parking). If they can whip up a salve or concoction in a ziplock bag, then that's what you get (saving you TONS of money~i so appreciate their simplicity!) The kindest receptionist, Judy! What a joy to talk to! If you have a dog that you have recently learned is totally aggressive around other dogs you wait outside or in your car and gladly will come get you!I have so great things I could say about this place. I have seen three different vets and they are all so down to earth and compassionate. I understand one vet could rub people the wrong way. I am guessing a little east coast by the accent but honestly this vet is to the point, no non sense and kinda black and white and VERY practical. MUCH appreciated! It was questionable for me how I felt the first couple of times until I brought a SUPER SUPER ill puppy in (on behalf of the rescue) and I saw how compassionate this person was. I would suggest to others to not take anything personally and if you needs hugs and kisses, get them from your pet or a friend if you're rubbed the wrong way. I have confidence in all the vets I have seen. This is huge coming from me because I have been through about 65% of the vets in Denver...just sayin"One more great thing: I had a dead battery and the vet tech was so helpful and helped me in freezing cold weather! What more can this place offer I ask? Wow...I am transferring all my four legged kids there!

This is the best vet that I've ever taken my dogs and cat to. I've lived all over Denver and Fort Collins and love this place - and I would say I'm a person who is hard on my vets. I also run an animal rescue and work with Animal Health Care Specialists - they are amazing. They have the best interest of the pet in mind, so if you can't handle hearing that you need to change something to make your pet healthier, I guess you may not like this place, but isn't the point keeping your pets as healthy as they can be?They have the BEST prices in town, have a huge emphasis on adoption and rescue and they even have their own foundation to do surgeries that owners can't pay for ... like I said this place is all about the animals, so if you love your pet, take them here.

Honestly, I couldn't say enough about Animal Health Care specialists. Unfortunately and fortunately, I've been here way too many times. I'm beginning to think that Bentley my golden likes Animal Health Cares so much that he feigns illness just so he can come here. But in all seriousness, we have had some serious scares and tough times and Dr. Schulman and his staff have seen us through them. Although we wouldn't put a price on Bentley's care, it has made things easier for us that the prices were reasonable. Every other vet I've been to has made me feel like they are looking for something wrong in my dog so they can charge me more money. I feel pretty confident in Dr. Schulman's opinion and care. That being said, Bentley is looking for a job to help pay some of his medical expenses.

After visiting 3 other vet clinics and getting the run around, we were desparate for a good vet. Animal Health Care Specialists was recommended to us by several different people as an affordable, reliable veterinary clinic. All the recommendations were right on track. Dr. Schulman is a no-nonsense vet who gets straight to the point and he is good at what he does. I wouldn't want anyone else taking care of my dog. Better yet, the costs are frequently half what we paid at other clinics. AHCS is also a supporter of Tails of Woe which is a non-profit that helps pet owners who can't afford veterinary services.There are a couple things you should know before you go:First, this is not a fancy vet clinic. The building is run-down, the waiting area is microscopic, and the support staff seem overworked and disorganized.Second, you're going to have to wait for your appointment, so bring some reading material. But, I don't mind waiting for Dr Schulman's expertise. (He saved my dog's life.)
