I took my dog in there this morning never have been there before my dog was in the back seat having seizures after Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital turned her away because I didn't have $1,500 they rushed out and got her in there and got her sedated and out of pain . There wasn't much they could do for her. When we got there she was in respitory distress. We had to put her down. I had no choice. She was suffering terribly. They were excellent they never left her sight not once. They also worked with me on the amount they had no problems whatsoever with that. They were more concerned about us then the cost. Thank you. ****PLEASE READ***                                                 Do not take your animals here!!!! I brought my dog here for vaccinations and he had a growth on his neck, they did bloodwork , urinalysis and a biopsy. They asked for 3 more urine samples(back to back). Said they could add on a UPC for $3.00. Then charged me $35. 2 biopsies at $200 a piece, could find the right cells. Then he need a sterile sample, then he needed an Ultrasound on his Kidneys. So $700.00 in to these people and all they said was come back for bloodwork. Went to Loving Family clinic, he needed to be on long term Kidney medicine has a heart murmur. They took the growth off and sent it for testing. Pet Aid just nickeled and dimed us!!!!!! They're supposed to work with low income families..... The prices weren't much different at the new vet.. I think those are still med students, not even Doctors!! Read Less

Nice, compassionate folks, but maybe not overly thorough. We took our dog in for a second opinion on a surgery/cancer diagnosis and were run thru the same tests as our first visit elsewhere, with the same results. Upon scheduling surgery and a few drama filled days of worry we took the time off from work to take care of the dog.  Upon arriving we're told the dog does not need surgery, nor does she have cancer.  Hmm. Ok, well, great news! But why exactly did you think she did one week ago?  What kind of tests did you run exactly?  An odd situation, not all bad of course. Dog is doing fine, though we likely won't be visiting this vet again as it's a long drive for a miss this wide of the mark. Read Less

They charged what a groomer would have charged for shaving, but did it in an environment where they could get closer to the skin and had a vet on hand if something went wrong. They DO NOT deserve even 1 star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SCAMERS!!!  CROOKS!!!!! This place took complete advantage of our emotions regarding the health of my dog. I took him in because he wasn't walking right. His back legs weren't working properly, so I knew something was wrong with his legs. The first visit they say they need to do xrays, I didn't have the money that day, so her diagnosis was arthritis. Ok, she knows best I thought. Within the next 2 days, he isn't eating and still not walking properly, so I call back to get those xrays done. 2hours later, I'm told something is wrong with his stomach, she sees a mass in there and it could be cancer. I'm told it is very important to get him in to get a ultra sound, to see what this mass is. Scared, I agree to bring him in in 2 days for this must needed ultra sound. The ultra sound is complete, guess what....... NOTHING IS FOUND OR SEEN!!! No one can explain to me why the "mass" is suddenly gone, but nothing is wrong with his tummy. So, back to the REAL reason I take him in the first place, his legs. She tells me he looks fine, and gives me a rx for his nausea, since he is still in a lot of pain. If his legs don't get better over the weekend, bring him back and we will proceed to see if he needs surgery!! WTF?? Without a diagnosis?? The rx I was given.... SHOCKER.....I CAN'T FIND ANYWHERE IN THE METRO AREA THAT WILL FILL IT!!! And of course it's a Sat when they aren't open. I get a call on Monday following a long weekend of him still not walking, eating and in pain. I told the "tech" he is not better and they ripped me off on unnecessary tests that had NOTHING to do with why he was even brought in. I was told it's not as simple as that and that she would talk to the vet. Mind you, I NEVER once met a Vet. I told her I WANT TO TALK TO THE VET. She then tells me, the vets are busy.  I had the pleasure to only be in contact with "techs" and an "Intern". Needless to say this worthless "tech" had no answers for me and I was clearly upset, she said she was hanging up because I was heated. I spent over $500.00 at this worthless, scam of a place for treatment that my dog DID NOT EVEN NEED!!!! They completely ripped us off!!!! I was able to get my boy to a REAL VETERINARY CLINIC this past Sat and he was diagnosed with inflammation in his back and his back leg. The visit was free, and they gave us a rx for free as well. Today is Monday and my dog is almost completely back to his old self!! He's eating like a champ, his back legs are working again, just back to being the great doggie he is. If PETAID had it their way, I would have had to bring him back for more, extensive, expensive tests, that weren't even needed to get him better!!!!! I will be reporting this clinic to everyone and anyone that I can to help save the animal loving people of Colorado the fear, desperation and  theft my family and I went through. Read Less

PLEASE, if you have a large dog, DON'T go to PetAid in Denver. My pit/mastiff mix had a bowel obstruction and we brought him there. After going in for a few minutes, they said they were afraid of him and brought my husband back to muzzle him. They checked him out and decided to keep him overnight. The next morning they said he was being aggressive and that they couldn't help him. They said to come pick him up. Upon arrival, my husband finds out they removed the muzzle at some point and kept him locked in the BROOM CLOSET ALL NIGHT! Mind you, he was not to be fed, but there was DIRTY MOP WATER in with him. Bet he drank it. Now, to address this big, bad dog thing...he spends his days with a 2.5 y/o that has cerebral palsy and a 5 month old. He was scared and crying the night he was left there. When he came home, I tried to pet his head and he winced! Something's NOT right!Read Less

Staff is rude and uncaring. My friend is on a fixed income and one of our dogs has a kidney infection. So she calls, staff was completely rude to her on the phone. They tell her she has to pay for any visit, knowing full well she can't afford it. So I lend her the cash to take the dog in and they do a quick check, let her know if anything else has to be done, it's going to cost more. Long story short, these fuckheads are a joke. All they care about is money. Not to mention, they sent her a rude letter about how they do things there and if she's comes back she'll be refused service. Read Less

I wish I had better things to say about petaid since they do help out my foster group with low-cost vet appointments, but they are absolutely terrible. The quality of care is what you would expect at any veterinarian office, but they accept way more animals than they are capable of caring for with their extremely limited staff. Every time I've taken an animal in I have to wait for at least an hour before they will see me for a drop off appointment, every time I call I'm put on hold by the receptionists multiple times in a row. When I've taken animals in for spay and neuter appointments, the animals don't enter into surgery until 2-3:00 PM when the vet tells me they should be out of surgery by then and ready to be picked up. Every time the vet is supposed to call me back with results, I don't hear until 8:00 PM in the evening or later. High volume clinics like this are bound to make mistakes when the staff is over worked. Read Less

HORRIBLE place! Amongst the many things they lack as a veterinarian clinic, they simply don't give a hoot (being more polite than I should). To explain further, my dog had an ultrasound on a Wednesday morning, followed by a biopsy to which we had agreed and were promised a phone consult in the afternoon. Not only did we not receive a call that day, but both we and the vet called profusely and were either put in an endless "hold" loop or were told "they are very busy back there" (as we were inconveniencing them). Long story short, we finally get the call and are told our doggy has cancer and has maybe a month. This is not to say the results have any bearing on the review, but the lapse in time caused an interruption in the dog's (now absolutely vital) medication!!! How *beeping* dare they call themselves any type of humanitarian institution! They didn't hesitate to take our money... My experiences with PetAid have not been without their challenges. The way I frame my experiences is to recognize  that there is a huge need and demand for their services. If a person qualifies for their services based on their income they can be seen. I personally am not aware of a time when they have refused to take new patients. With that being said I know at times they can be extremely busy and yes - overwhelmed.  The place I observe this most is with the front office staff. When I first started going there I experienced them as unfriendly. Yet with time I have really warmed up to them and vice versa. When I realized the stress they were under I stopped taking them personal. PetAid is a non profit and on their website they acknowledge that the place they need volunteer help most is in their front office. I think the nicest thing  that I have ever experienced with the front office staff was when my Care Credit card was declined. I had no other way to pay the bill. The woman helping me was extremely gracious. She said, "I know you are good for it. Go home and call Care Credit and get back with us." She did not have to do that but she did.I have had interactions with every vet on their staff and believe each one cares about the animals they treat. I also believe based on my experiences that each one is competant.I have interacted with many of their techs and have found them to be professional and very supportive.I have never had an experience with them where an animal I brought in there was mishandled, mistreated, or abused. As a matter of fact one of the dogs I take there LOVES to go there. Go figure! It has never occured to me to mistrust any one there.PetAid describes itself as a safety net for disadvantaged pets. Beyond a shadow of a doubt they have been that for the animals I care for.Low income is a very relative term. There are senior citizens in this country living on 3, 4  and 5 hundreds dollars a month as their social security retirement benefit. Others who are disabled and live on SSI receive a social security benefit of something like 720 dollars a month. The person I know is on SSI and receives a 40% discount off the reasonable and customary costs of vet care. I know for a fact if this person did not get that help from PetAid they would not and could not afford a companion animal.I believe we are fortunate to live in a community that cares about low income people and their pets. I imagine there are countless senior citizens and disabled individuals who would not be able to properly care for their pets were it not for PetAid. I also think we are fortunate to live in a community where those who can afford to donate their financial resources do. After all it is donors who give the money that subsidizes the discounts given to pet owners at this facility.Organizations like this are why I have chosen to live in this community for well over two decades. Over my life time I have lived in many different states within this country. My experience is that people who live in Colorado are the most friendly and generous I have ever met. Read Less

I just called this hospital regarding questions on shots/spaying for my new kitten. I make under 800 a month but do not have on paper proof. The lady who answered the phone told me she cannot accept me or my cat as a client because I don't recieve pay checks. In theory though, that would mean that in a full over view of my income I make $0 on paper. It seems extraordinarily silly that a place that is intended to make pet care affordable and accessible would turn away someone so quickly just because of a lack of paper statement.... I also asked what the basic rate would be if I could not come up with a pay stub and she said they do not offer anything at all and to call a private vet. I will continue searching and I'm sure I will be able to keep my kitty healthy and up to date on everything however it will not be at Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital and I do not put much faith in them as affordable pet care...Read Less

I love this place! I would not know what to do without them. They are income based and have payment plans for services over $300 but you must have Reliant Bill in your name and be good standing. Any way, I came here desperately needing treatment for my Skittles. For the last few months her urine was a bit off. She was in a horrible condition. I had limited amount of money and they worked with me. I was actually late because I catch the bus but they saw me any way with a little waiting time. I really appreciate it. The exam room was clean and informative with advertisements/brochures. I had a tech come in and ask in detail about what was going on. I've never been asked so many questions before. The vet came in and discussed options and pricing and I went forward. They did bloodwork to which I had to wait for the results (24 hours) and hey came back with a  bacterial infection diagnosis. I was prescribed medication (had to come back via bus to pick up the prescription) and filled it. It's cool that you can go to places like Target to get pet prescriptions and it was cheap to $4.00!They cured my Skittles but something else was going on with her leg so we had to go back. They recommended ankle surgery to remove the screw. They gave her more antibiotics and pain medication. I scheduled her for surgery and took her in but they cold not perform it due to not having the capabilities. They did not charge me for the radiograph or anything. Thank you! I still have yet to receive a call back about her surgery but not in a rush because she's doing much better. They cured my Skittles!! I don't have a problem with them at all and will recommend them. I've been to a lot of vets all over the country and only two hold a place in my heart - this one and the one in Andover, Mass. The cost of services vary due to income but I was able to afford two visits when I could never afford a vet visit before. Thank you! Read Less

I took my kitten, Odin, to see the folks at Pet Aid.  These guys work on a sliding scale which is a good thing for fixed income folks like myself.  The staff was a pleasure to deal with, the waiting time was just a few minutes and the waiting room felt very relaxed.  Dr. Rosenberg put my mind at ease right away.  He did a thorough exam and gave me two price options.  Most vet offices just shoot for the higher priced option.  Not so here.  The Dr. suggested I go for the lower price which was 51 bucks and change including medications.  And to follow up in a few days if this did not work.  I am completely impressed. I love this place!  We have a husky with a torn ACL and did not have the desire or financial ability to spend the 3k for the TPLO and this place offered a less invasive (no cutting up bone) Tightrope (TR) surgery.  They have a wonderfully skilled surgeon who visits the facility and actually donated part of his services to our pup.  Amazing! The staff is always uber friendly when I call, on visits, and super helpful and professional.  They gave us the best meds (not the ones people have had issues with concerning this surgery) and have walked us through all the steps. We are on week 2 of recovery now and healing great. The former Harrison Memorial has now changed their name and vets as well. I have had good luck in the past, but I now think this place is beyond inhumane. I brought my Border Collie mix, Skipper, to have a cyst checked for cancer. I explained to the vet that my dog had a horrible experience at Allbrick when they removed a growth behind his ear with everyday grooming shears that were not sterilized. She agreed that was not proper procedure, and assured getting a cell sample would only take two seconds. I mentioned he cut his paw a few days before, but seemed to be ok, maybe just take a look. She took Skipper in the back as I waited in the room. I heard the most horrifying, guttural howl and ran to the back. There, two techs were holding my dog down, had him muzzled like a vicious animal, he had shit himself out of terror and the vet proceeded to dig into his paw without anesthetic. I screamed for them to stop, immediately removed the unnecessary muzzle (my guy has never even showed teeth in nine years). I yelled at the vet that she was torturing my dog and was there for the cyst, not his paw. She apologized and knew she was wrong. I can't get the horrible image of my dog being tortured out of my head, and still have not a clue if his cyst is benign.Yes, this place works on a sliding scale, but they are not there because of the love of animals. What they did to my dog was truly sick. I've worked with animals for thirteen years and never heard a dog make such a horrid sound. They are cruel people. Read Less

They asked if I still wanted to do the surgery, and if I didn't, I would lose my deposit. I choose to go ahead with the surgery, my dog was suffering. I went back for a check up, they gave me some additional medicine for my dog, called me one hour later, stating that the medicine was an additional $60. I would not have taken they medicine if I knew that, it was a precautionary. I called to talk to the head of the hospital, I never received a call back. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! Read Less

Would recommend to everyone! This is the only vet I have ever used in the 6 years of having pets. I have taken 2 dogs and 2 cats there numerous times. Perfect no complication neuters. They really work with you on only doing what is necessary to keep your costs down, they will talk it over with you before doing anything that would be an extra cost. For limited income families it really helps. I want my pets to have good health and to be able to take care of them like they deserve, with this vet I don't have to 'ignore their problems' so to speak. Thank you! Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

I understand a big dog coming in with a muzzle is intimidating but he has to wear it because they act like they don't like him. Give him some attention and he's very sweet. No bed side manner and over charge! Read Less

Beware! Auto door engages when you begin to pull handle. I had a large carrier in hand and just as I was leaning into the door to go through, the auto motor caught up and suddenly the door was pulled away from me causing me to fall; my pet and my things all hit the floor. Sure, everyone came running to watch me get up. I walked to the desk and the look I got was like, what could you possibly be doing here. After checking in and sitting on a hard plastic chair for half an hour past my appt time with no acknowledgement, I left. Will not give them my business Read Less

In all honesty employees(s) become unprofessional when confronted with a difficult situation: Was continuously put on hold by receptionists due to them being short staffed due to an employee just quitting. Katherine the hospital Administrator, refused to give lab results for our dog. As a representative who deals with customers she lacked empathy, had an attitude, was rude, put customer on hold, abuses position of authority, was unresponsive and refused to help when asked. Staff over all needs to work on their communication manners. (This is coming form the observation/perspective of someone who worked at a vet clinic for 4yrs & knows what a responsible & caring staff consist of).  PS: Look at the bill before they charge you & make sure it's correct. Thank God for people like Dr. Molinas.  I was referred by Overland Animal Hospital, and Dr. Molinas was able to squeeze my dog in for almost immediate dental surgery.  If it was not for this man and the compassion he showed me, I don't know what I would have done.  My miniature dachshund has always had bad teeth, but he ended up developing multiple abscesses that made him so sick.  Dr.  David Molinas was able to rescue him and give him what will be a much better life.  I knew I couldn't afford what he needed to get done, but Pet Aid made miracles happen for me.  I will forever be grateful for the doctor and the girls at the desk.  Everyone was so great!  Thank you so much!   My dog is eating on his own and full of energy and life again.

PetAid AH is allegedly geared toward assisting low income families receive affordable pet care, and is funded by donations and grants throughout the region.  However, the clinic staff stated this morning: every person must have at least $200-$500 in their pocket MINIMUM or they will not be allowed treatment. How do they get away with labeling themselves low-income friendly?  Sounds like it's time to report them for fraudulent practices. Read Less

Read Less

I had an awful experience here. They called me two hours after I dropped my dog off for surgery and left my non-refundable deposit, and said tat it was going to be an additional $200.

Thank you! Read Less
