Hermosa Veterinary Clinic

Used to be a good place for service and very friendly and the veterinarian is very smart. BUT the techs are SLOW and RUDE. Watched the reception/ vet tech roll paper for 10 minutes for the receipt printer instead of getting a new roll. Had a line out the door and didn't acknowledg anyone waiting in line. If it wasn't for the main veterinarian and his expertise this place would be a dump. He is the only reason I return. He knows his stuff unlike some other vets I been to. Read Less

This vet office is the dirtiest clinic I have walked into in the Denver metro area. The communication between Dr. and front staff to client is nonexistent. I understand they have low prices, but as a business they should hold themselves to a higher standard of care. Very disappointed with them. Will never return or encourage anyone else to go here. We are forever grateful for the emergency, weekend, 10pm surgeries that these vet doctors have provided us over the years. They are the most affordable we can find, so we understood there would be long wait times. Regardless, they provided excellent care and they have saved our pup more than once. Read Less

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I don't believe half of the good reviews on here... I called to get puppy records sent to new vet. If you take new pups here with the plan to have them adopted, DON'T DO IT. IT WILL BE A NIGHTMARE to try to get records to new owner/vet. Expect this to happen: They pick up, place you on hold, and after 6 minutes it hangs up because the mailbox if full! I called again... same thing. The third time I stated what I was calling about right away, they took my name, put me on hold... and guess what... again after 6 minutes it hung up. The FOURTH time I called, I simply asked for a call back instead of being put on hold.. and then they actually asked what I was calling about. After explaining, they said they could fax records but unfortunately I didn't have a fax number in front of me. I was advised to call back. I called back about 60 minutes later, and NO JOKE, the exact same thing happened with the hold and hang up. ON the third call (or SEVENTH CALL in the day), I quickly told them that I just wanted to give them the fax number for the records. They took the number were about to HANG UP without asking who I was or what pup I was calling about! I quickly asked if they needed my name or puppy's name so they would know what info to send and the person on the phone sounded annoyed that I stopped them from hanging up! They faxed the info same day (even though they said it would take 72 hours), but it was the INCORRECT PUPPY records. I called the next day to get the correct records.... Called... they asked me to hold....this time it did not hang up, it just re-called. I was placed on hold 3 times and had to explain why I was calling to 3 different people! In total I was on HOLD for about an HOUR, CALLED TEN TIMES, and didn't even get the info I needed. I get it, it is busy. But there is no need to be RUDE or sound ANNOYED on the phone. There is clearly NO COMMUNICATION between staff and NO LEADERSHIP. I read that is it a lower cost clinic... but that is not an excuse to have low standards for service. Read Less

My cat had had a loose tooth, so I took him to a different vet and they quoted me almost $1000.00 for the extractions. No way could I do that! A week later, my cat was in a lot of pain, couldn’t hardly close his mouth, with puss coming out. I called all around town, looking for A reasonable price. The first one to respond to my call was hermosa, the girl on the phone was friendly, efficient, and understanding of my financial needs. They were so kind, they got my boy in the next day, even though they were busy. They took out three teeth, cleaned out the infection, all for about half the price. Will definitely switch to this vet! My dog was super sick and the vet I typically take him too was 5 times more expensive then Hermosa. I used to take all my pets to Hermosa when I was growing up but when I moved it was more convenient to take them somewhere close. Yes, the wait is a bit long, but it is a walk in clinic with terrific hours. Yes, it smells like pets...because there are animals there. Go figure! But the fact that they don't spend a million dollars on another renovation and then pass the cost on to you, is worth the not so glamorous environment. I can't remember the vets name, but he was very kind, he was gentle with my corgi, and he spent time going over options for his care. I never felt rushed. I felt that my dog was in good hands. And I certainly didn't feel robbed when I paid my bill. On the downside, the staff seems overwhelmed at times, and I feel that they need a better filing system as they tend to lose records. The staff also has a habit of putting you on hold forever and forgetting about you. So, yes, there is some room for improvement but I don't feel that it is at risk of your pets. Read Less

This is the most loving an caring animal hospital they are honest an NOT expensive they are truely pet lovers ive been going there for 22yrs an I wont go no where else I took my puppy to plan pet aid because it was a sunday an hermosa was closed they told me my puppy was dying he needed emergency operation would cost 3.500 wow I about lost it but i waited till early monday morning about 7 a.m an rushed him to his dr kurth they took one look an treated him with antibiotics 2days later my puppy was running playing was great an only cost me 60.00 wow huh thats what we said € hes a big healthy Rottie an we are so grateful to the Hermosa Family Thanks an God blessRead Less

They neutered my cat, who was perfectly healthy. They did something wrong, he had an abscess near the incision, but not on it. It was badly infected, they refused to take accountability claiming it was a "spider bite" and wanted to charge me $270 to fix something THEY DID. I took him somewhere to get a second opinion and they confirmed that it was infact from the neuter. I'm taking them to small claims court. Don't take your pets here. Read Less

Dr.Mercado is so compassionate and so good about explaining what our dog is going through. He is an older pup with some chroinc illness well have to treat for the rest of his life and and she is great about what each medicine is for. I just love her! Read Less

Minus the long waits, this is by far the most affordable and best vet in town. I have been coming here for years and I will continue to keep going. I recommend this place to anyone but just be prepared to wait a little bit as there are no office appointments. They didn't use to charge for office visits but they have been for a little while now but it's still worth it. Keep up the good work guys! Read Less

Hermosa Clinic is not our normal clinic but ours was closed today. Our doggy broke her nail and was in pain so we took her in as a walk in. They pulled the nail and bandaged her up! Didn't even charge! Good animal people there<3 Read Less

I've been taking my two dogs there since they were babies and they have always done a great job with my dog's matter of fact my little dog baby just had surgery there and his doctor was Josie Mercado and I just love her for doing a great job she has patients she even helped me through so if you ever need to take your dog to the vet I recommend Hermosa that they are great people Read Less

I brought my little boy, a teacup Maltese, named Romeo, to Hermosa after my roommate left him in his crate to die!!!!! She let him fall down an opened back, full set of wooden stairs over 2 years ago & this group of wonderful people/team/etc.took care of him for 2 days & saved his life!!!!!! Read Less

My girl jacinda had a hematoma in her ear, they did excellent job on fixing it. Then went back for check up discovered foxtails in her ears. Poor baby had to get another procedure to get those removed. She doing much better now, n will get her stitches removed monday. They were very. Ice to me n her. Im happy with the results. Read Less

This place is disgusting. I've been here more than once just hoping every experience would be better than the last, but unfortunately it only got worse. I took my dog Bronx in to get boosters and they couldn't find my file. Then said that i had to start his shots all over again because they didn't know if i had gotten them previously. I hate that place. Dr. Mercado is a raging psycho. I can usually hear her complaining from the back of the clinic yelling at people about how stupid the clients are. Not cool. Dr. Kats isn't even qualified to be a Dr. And the male Dr, although very good at his job, has yelled at employees in front of clients which is very uncomfortable and unprofessional. The place reeks of urine. The staff is always losing files and are never up front when you need them. The wait can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 maybe 4 hours. Even after you get in the room there's a significant wait time. They have got to be violating some major health codes because they don't use the red hazard box for sharps. I've seen them put them in a bucket after use or just leave them on the counters. They are especially rude on the phone. They leave you on the phone waiting for 20 minutes before they come back and tell you just to come in or that they can't help you. Yes, the prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for. For years we have taken our dogs to Hermosa vet clinic with no issues! This week Gema, our 100lb "gentle giant" needed her nails clipped and got more than we bargained for with a new guy that obviously failed the nail clipping part of his training! When the girls told him to get someone else that knows what they are doing, he walked out of the room and brought back a girl! They then proceeded to continue cutting up our baby and pin her to the ground! These 2 people have no business working with animals as they had no sympathy or caring for the dog they injured, only attitude about Gema being too big and wanting to nip at them... I would bite you too if you were cutting me up and laying on me! I will NEVER take my animals to Hermosa vet clinic again and urge anyone else to keep their animals out of this place! I took my mini Aussie into them Monday early afternoon, 5/2. He'd been vomiting and couldn't keep anything down. They ran the blood work and found his liver enzymes were very high. I was told he'd need a 48 hour stay to have an IV to help flush his liver. I paid $455 for all the blood work, tests and his first nights stay. They were originally going to charge me $750 for the 2 nights and his tests. I was told I could visit him whenever they were open and I could call during the night to check on him. This was true. I was told they'd cap off his IV and take him outside to potty. This was not true. When I asked about him having to pee in his kennel, which stresses him out, I was told they were too busy to take him out. I was told that he'd need to have an IV for 48 hours to flush out his liver. The vet said we needed to flush, flush, flush his liver. On Tuesday late morning, when I went to visit him, I was greeted abruptly by one of the techs at the desk. She was rude. While sitting in the waiting area till a room opened up, I saw 2 people come, wait several minutes and then leave when no one came out to the desk. When I finally got in a room to see my dog, he smelled of urine and his IV was not dripping. He was stressed and trying to pace and could barely pay attention to me. This was alarming. The blood had infiltrated into the IV. It was kinked and twisted so badly that it couldn't have worked. When I asked the tech about it and said that it hadn't dripped once in 20 minutes, she cleaned out the IV and got it dripping again but didn't address why it wasn't working when I got there. When I asked why his IV hadn't been working and why he'd only had half a liter of fluids in 24 hours I was told by one of the techs that it would've been too much. This didn't corelate with what the vet had said the day before about him needing flushing to help his liver calm down. Once the tech got the IV going my little guy started calming down and acting less in pain. All my alarm bells were going off by the time I left him to go to work. I was very uncomfortable with the care he'd been getting and how he was responding to being left there. I was also offended by the way they evaded answering my simple questions about my concerns. I stopped back by about 4 hours later to check on him. His IV was once again stopped, with the fluid level right where it was when I left. It was infiltrated with blood again and he was visibly uncomfortable with it. When I questioned the techs I was given the run around. When I asked to speak with the vet to share my concerns she had 3 different staff come in to speak to me instead. I asked each of them to speak directly with her. By this time I was done with their sub-par work and horrible bedside manner. I was concerned about my dogs' safety and well-being. I asked the vet about his kinked IV. She said that they only checked on them every 2-3 hours. Her answer made no sense and didn't explain what I'd seen. She was condescending and evasive. She claimed a language barrier because she's from Puerto Rico. I haven't had such horrible interactions with a vet clinic and their staff in my life. I gladly signed an AMA and took my dog home. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BELOVED PETS IN THEIR CARE. Their reaction to my concerns was to send me a letter and I quote, "It has come to my attention that on numerous occasions you've indicated displeasure with either our services or our healthcare team." "It appears that we are no longer able to fulfill your veterinary needs to your satisfaction and, therefore, are unable to retain you as a client within our practice." This place is cheap. Once you know that they're a great vet. They are cheap. But they're also honest and care about their patients. I go here for shots and standard check ups. They're not the nicest looking place. But the price is right. And the care my dog receives is equivalent to the care she receives at other much more expensive vet clinics. I have been taking my pets there for ten years and paid them people a lot of money, only to be told that they would not fill my dogs prescription unless I took him in and had all kinds of tests done on him. I told them I did not have enough money right then and asked if I could buy a couple of weeks worth of medicine until I had enough money. I was talking to one of the Daughters and she said no that she was not going to lose her license just because I could not afford to take care of my pet. my Datsun he was 15 years old, died five days later. Do NOT go to Hermosa vet clinic. After my last visit, I feel the need to warn the world. We have taken our cat there for ten years. At first it was fine. Then we kept going there just for shots. But the place smells like piss, the wait is terrible, the front desk people are rude and some of the doctors are too rough with animals and their wounds. I started to thinking 6 months ago that I should find another vet. I really wish I had. Our last visit turned out to be an emergency. Hermosa staff made us wait 20 minutes to check in, ignoring my "excuse me" in order be on their phones in the back room. The doc I saw seemed nice and helpful. But she kept my cat for 6 hours to test and treat her only to tell me she wasn't sure what to do. When I came back to get the cat, she was much sicker than before. And they weren't even sure if they had done her blood work or not. They didn't seem to care about me or my very sick pet - they handed her to us crying and covered in pee. When I brought her in hours before, her stats were below normal but after we raced to a vet hospital, her vital signs were failing. She was in shock. By this time, it was too late. I'll never forget how uncaring they were. I still wonder if it would have turned out different if I had gone somewhere else. I feel so much regret. I would give negative ratings if I could. I went here today to have my senior dog seen, and I have never been treated with such disrespect. First off, I sat at the desk to check in for almost 15 minutes. Two employees saw me and passed by me and NO ONE acknowledged me. After I said "excuse me" when another employee was going to walk away without acknowledging me again, she said, "I'll be back in a minute" and walked away. About five minutes later (making my total waiting to be checked in time at about 15 minutes now) she came back and asked what she could help me with. I told her I needed to be checked in. I also told her how long I'd been waiting, and that I hadn't been greeted at all. She said that this wasn't unusual on a walk-in day. No apology for the poor customer service, nothing. She took my info and walked away so quickly to the back room, that I didn't get to tell her I was a new client. When she came back, confused that she couldn't find my file, I told her that I'd never been here before. Visibly annoyed, she grabbed new client paperwork for me. She told me to have a seat, and I'd be called. I asked her if she had any idea what kind of time frame we were looking at. She said 20-25 minutes.AN HOUR LATER, I went up to the desk to ask when we could expect to be seen since SHE TOLD ME 20-25 minutes. She said I was next. We were finally called ten minutes later. A younger girl took us back and weighed my dog and took us to a room. I asked if she needed him up on the table, and she said no. She asked me to hold his head and took his temp. She said that the vet would be in soon. I asked how long she thought, since we'd waited over an hour in the lobby. She immediately got defensive and told me that it's a walk-in clinic, and it's very busy. She said it's not unusual to wait for over two hours to be seen on a walk in day. At this point, I told her about my experience at the front desk. She said "If you aren't happy you can leave." Wow. Great customer service skills. Your customer is unhappy and your first reaction is to tell them to kick rocks? Nice. So I told her that I understood that it was a walk in clinic, and she interrupted me and said, "NO, you don't, because if you did, you wouldn't be upset about waiting." So I told her that even though it's a walk in clinic, it's ok to expect a certain level of customer service, and that being greeted isn't too much to ask. She said, "it is on a busy day like this. So you can either sit there and be nice, and change your attitude, or you can leave." My 14 year old son didn't appreciate the way she was speaking to me (neither did I, but I was willing to let it go to have my dog seen), and spoke up. He said, "I've heard enough. You don't need to talk to my mom like she's a child." And she said, "I don't need you to get involved. You know what? That's it. You can leave." So she walked out of the back door of the exam room and shut the door. That was it. We didn't get our dog seen, and we were treated like shit. SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE. DON'T COME HERE. I KNOW IT'S CHEAP, BUT IT'S JUST NOT WORTH IT. FUCK YOU, HERMOSA. AND YOUR FRONT DESK STAFF TOO. Read Less

I have two pitbulls Addy and Gage we have never took them anywhere else besides Hermosa and they treat them winderfully, the wait can be extensive, thats because this is a walk in clinic and because this a walkin clinic the prices are lower, DR. I have been taking my dog ot hermosa for his chronic ear problems and the vet there has been just fantastic with him. yes there is a wait always and the phone service can be a challenge but it is also because they are just incredibly busy. If you have the patience to wait the price VERY afforable and I have always felt that he truly cared about my dog. Read Less

Saved my dog's life! I took my puppy to two other vets before coming here. They obviously are more experienced and the doctor actually explained the problems to me. He actually took the time to go over different scenarios instead of just assuming like the other vets did. My dog suffered for six days thanks to ridiculous vets. At least I got him here in time. The staff is wonderful and made a super stressful time a bit less stressful. The clinic seems always busy but with their staff and their prices it is well worth it. Read Less

What I payed for here covered two dogs and at other places would only cover one for the same exact vaccine updates! Best price around ! Recommended if u don't mind waiting a bit to be seen and have the time. I was lucky to go in and out and done ! Totally Inexpensive beats any other place around for vaccines and even for other things you need done on your dogs! (Price wise ) just one thing though calling in prob won't get you to far! When I found out my dog needed surgery for an acl tear I was in a panic. Hermosa was able to get my dog in quickly and at a very fair price..... And trust me I called around. They were very kind and wonderful with him and with me too! They do their job well and they do it right. My heart hurts today to even write this review. Last week on Thursday morning, my dog Zowey, was acting lethargic and uninterested in her normal morning routine of going outside to potty and eat her food. I waited to see how she was after work and when I returned home she was still the same only breating funny now. I called Hermosa clinic and they stated they closed in a half hour so we rushed Zowey there. The doctor came in, touched her a little, checked her temp and started feeling her head. She was resistant because she did not like people touching her whom she did not know. The Vet stated that Zowey must have a neck strain because of her unwillingness to allow him to move her head to the right. He told us she must have had a strain in the neck and gave her a steroid. He then told us it would be a few days of her being in pain and that she would continue breathing funny because of the pain. Friday morning I noticed that yes she was breathing funny and she continued to do so the entire day. The breating worsened as the night passed on Friday and finally I had enough of seeing my dog in pain so I rushed her to the Wheatridge Pet ER, on the way there Zowey took her last breath and died. The ER at Wheatridge Pet Hospital were very friendly and rushed to our aid in attempt to try and save Zowey. With their two failed attempts they were unable to save Zowie. Later, the physician entered our room to allow us to say our final good byes to our dog and stated that Zowie died from heart failure and that the steroid only progressed her death filling her heart with fluid. Her heart that was already weak was being pressured even more by a steroid. My husband and I thought we were helping her and instead we were hurting her more by the pill we force fed her....after I called Hermosa they were unapologetic and stated they needed a final death diagnosis and offered no apology or condolence. Not a fan of this place. Took my pup there because I had to from the rescue--they lied to me about the surgery he received. Dropped him off Thursday for the operation and called later that day to check on him. After being on hold for 20 minutes I finally learned the surgery went well but the doc wanted to keep him there over night to monitor him. Okay...however I received a call the next day informing me my dog was just coming out of surgery. What?! When I picked up him I asked the tech when the surgery was done--Friday/today she said. Then why the hell was I told yesterday that it was done and went well?Further, a different vet diagnosed him with a heart murmur...it is an obvious one. The hermosa vet who had treated him several times said he never picked up on it but before the surgery could hear it now. During the surgery they did not put in an IV catheter (huge red flag during any surgery but especially when the animal has a heart condition). They also wrapped the surgery site with plain gauze which made it stick the incision and cause my dog a lot of pain when removing the bandage. I write all this as a former vet tech for 10 years.Lastly, two weeks after the surgery I take my dog to a different vet because the site is swollen. He is now on three weeks of hardcore antibiotics because hermosa did not put him on the proper after-care meds for the type of surgery he had. I've read all of the other reviews.  They seem accurate but I would disagree with those that say that Hermosa is not a caring clnic.  Having brought my dogs there for many years, my sense is that they fulfill their tasks with professionalism and warmth.  I have had experiences with the support staff and the wait, but isn't the care the deciding factor? I tried Hermosa's.  I called and asked if I could make an appt, they said no but that there was really no wait.  I thought, awesome and went right there.  There was one gal holding a leash/dog and one girl sitting with a cat in a kennel.  There were 2 gals at the reception desk, but no one said hello or acknowledged me in any way when I came in.  I thought since there were only 2 people that appeared to be ahead of me it would be worth the wait.  20 mins later I realized that the gal standing with the leash at the desk had also not been acknowledged.  I said "excuse me" intending just to see if they would tell me what the wait was, all I got was a dirty look.  The gal standing said "its always like this." I sat back down and waited another 2-3 min, and asked the cat girl how long she had been there.  She said 1 1/2 hours.....we left.  I dont think they cared at all. This place is horrible!!!! We had to wait 4 hours to see the vet and the place was not even busy. When the vet came in she was in there for a couple of minutes, got mad and walked out of the room. Her husband came back in a couple of minutes later explained that she gets upset when people give their dogs over the counter medicine. First of all that is what a vet told us to do over the phone, second, if she was a good vet you would think that she would educate and explain things to patients, not get mad and walk out of the room. Extremely unprofessional. Then she came back in with an estimate for 700 dollars. Our dog was being seen for an allergic reaction, skin issue that she was scratching and it became irritated. They wanted to keep her overnight, give her anesthesia to trim her, they said she needed antibiotics that supposedly cost 250 dollars, a rabies shot for 50 dollars. Plus some other unnecessary things to make the bill 700 dollars. We explained that we would prefer to go get a second opinion. She then said, what can you pay, we can take some stuff off. Which was a huge red flag for me. We said no thank you. We would just like to pay for the office visit and get a second opinion. We were told on the phone and by 2 different signs posted that the office visits are 40. When we went to pay she said it would be 45 dollars. We pointed out that the sign says 40, the rude lately behind the desk said, yeah, that just changed today, and pulled the sign off of the wall. We decided to go to planned pethood where we usually go. They got us in after 45 minutes, shaved the affected area, cleaned it up and sent us on our way. 114 dollars for everything, including antibiotic, pain meds and the cleanser. To add insult to injury, today we got a nice visit from our local dog catcher. Apparently the people at hermosa animal clinic decided to call and tell them that we had a dog that needed treatment and we refused.Last I checked we are allowed to get our dog treatment where we wish. What they were going to charge was outrageous, when we wanted to leave they tried to haggle then called and reported us for absolutely nothing out of spite. I would give multiple 0 stars if I could.I brought in my 10 week Great Dane puppy that recently had his ears cropped to get rebandaged. The doctor not only taped and bandaged his WHOLE head, but the ears were sticking sideways instead of UP. When I called the doctor to complain, he was extremely rude and told me if I didn't like it that I could do it myself. Not to mention not acknowledging there was anything wrong! To make matters worse, they fraudulently charged my credit card after complaining and telling them we wanted a refund. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!If I could post  pictures of the poor puppy, you would never want to bring you pet in here again.Do yourself a favor and find a vet that KNOWS what he is doing and CARES for pets AND their owners enough to complete his job with TACT and RESPECT for his profession!!!!! Wow.  That is all I can say for the awesome customer service I just received from three separate people at Hermosa Vet Clinic. I hope you can pick up the sarcasm since I just spent 50 minutes hold being transferred to three different people. After my new veterinarian tried unsuccessfully for two days to get records transferred over, I took the time to try and get them feeling that an actual patron might have better luck. I called and was immediately put on hold. Then someone else picked up the line. I explained that someone else was looking for my records, and she said they would look to find who was helping me. Finally, a third person answered and explained that I had to come down in person to get any records faxed over. Of course, by now, the clinic was closed. How on earth is a responsible pet owner supposed to supply a new veterinarian with up-to-date records? After this experience and my experience prior, I will NOT be returning and will NEVER speak highly of this clinic. I work in animal welfare and will be sure to steer people away from this clinic and toward others that are much more reputable and customer service oriented. Read Less

Wonderful and very caring!!!!  My rottie Oso had escaped from our yard and after a long night we had found him at the shelter where we were informed he was hit by a car and had a fractured femur, upon calling several animal hospitals /vets to ask about their fees for a fractured femur i was told that it would cost me a few thousand dollars to fix his leg but it may be cheaper to just get it amputated, thankfully i was determined to get a better answer and when i called Hermosa Vet i was told by the receptionist to bring him in right away i knew i had found a hospital that cared.  Within 10 minutes i had taken him to Hermosa and he was immediately put in a kennel and given pain meds, he soon had surgery which the price was extremely reasonable and stayed for a few weeks, ALL the staff from front office to back to Dr Kurth are wonderful and caring.  Everytime i went to visit my pup the staff closed an exam room down so i had a place to visit my Oso.    My family is very thankful for Hermosa Vet staff and Dr Kurth who saved my pups leg!!!!!  My only complaint is that other hospitals are not like Hermosa:) Read Less

Saved my dog's life! I took my puppy to two other vets before coming here. They obviously are more experienced and the doctor actually explained the problems to me. He actually took the time to go over different scenarios instead of just assuming like the other vets did. My dog suffered for six days thanks to ridiculous vets. At least I got him here in time. The staff is wonderful and made a super stressful time a bit less stressful. The clinic seems always busy but with their staff and their prices it is well worth it. Read Less

Dr. Kurth and daughters are awesome!!HVC was referred to me by a family member after my own vet clinic was unable to help with my cat's problem, urinary tract infection blockage. They were able to diagnose immediately and give me recommendations for treatment. They were very helpful, knowledgeable, and less expensive than most other clinics/hospitals.I have rated HVC 4 out of 5 for two reasons: I only see Dr. Kurth because I do not care for the others doctors, they don't seem as knowledgeable or caring. The front desk staff does not followup with you when they say they will and they seem disorganized. However, for the price and treatment I will keep going back again and again. Read Less

This place is TERRIBLE!!!! BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING IS A NECESSITY FOR THE STAFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dog has been sick for over 6 weeks and countless trips, hours, and money spent on this ""circus"". We had to wait over an hour and a half for a script that we called in the day before (without our pet with us)!! Countless hours on the phone to even get these people to release our file to get to a new vet! This place sucks when it comes to caring for your animals. I have come to find out that once they had a small puppy brought to them and they told the owner that the puppy had Parvo. The puppy didn't of course but due to the fact that the owners couldn't afford the treatment and Hurmosa wanted the money the vet (which is owner, old man) proceeded and out of anger broke the poor puppy's neck. All this because the vet lied to the owners to make a buck. I don't know about you guys but i would never allow this to happen to any of my pets. Never Again take your money and not Responsibility: We took our Rottweiler puppy to Hermosa to see if she need sticthes. We were there an hour before close. We were rushed after being told that it would be 300.00 not even 48 hours later took her back was told she would have to have sticithes again and it would be another 100.00. It looked like a 4year old worked on our dog. We have 3 dogs and will never take another one of our pets there. Oh they never called us to let us know when she was ready . I would give this place 0 stars if I was able too. If you honestly care about the health of your pet, don't take them here.  Couple years ago my cat, Misty. Was diagnosed with diabetes and she had to undergo insulin shots everyday. Now last year I went in to get a refill of insulin for her and found out that they had switched to using the type of insulin that humans do instead of the type that is used for pets. At first she seemed to be going ok with it but then a week or so later she started to get worse. Misty lost a lot of weight and had no energy what so ever. I also started to notice that the whites of her eyes were turning yellow. So I took her in to get looked at. At first the assistant that was with the vet saw Misty's eyes and all she could say was "Oh what pretty eyes you have" she didn't even notice that they were turning yellow. Next the Vet that I had, I don't even remember his name, luckly for him, but all he could spout off to me was that Misty needed a better diabetic diet for her. Not the fact that she was laying there, dieing on the table and all he could talk to me about is fucking food!  Later that day I took Misty to different clinic, I actually went to wheat ridge animal hospital and later that night Misty died from a seizure. I can't help to think that Misty could still be here today if it wasn't for those people at Hermosa. I curse the day I took Misty there for help. Read Less

I have been to this vet clinic many, many times. Once because our border collie ate bicycle grips, another because my other border collie ripped her leg open on a long camping trip and many, many more times. I have complete faith and trust in this clinic, and never once have I walked out of there feeling uncomfortable or taken advantage of. They are affordable and reliable. The clinic itself is a first come first serve basis, which can be a little time consuming but it is worth the wait. The vets are able to give you clear, definitive answers and tell you what your options are. They will care completely for your animals and they are extremely affordable. If you need anything for your pet I would recommend taking them here, they are awesome. Read Less

Dr. Kurth is my savior!  After dealing with another vet's inability to diagnose my mini-pin's knee problem, I brought her to Hermosa.  Turns out they specialize in orthopedic surgeries and knee surgeries, so he knew exactly what he was talking about.  Within a minute of having my dog on the table, he knew what the problem was (her MCL), and he knew she was going to need surgery.  At first I was skeptical, since this place is known for their knee surgeries.  But then he let me actually feel my dog's bad knee, compare it to her other knee, then he brought out the model of the joint and showed me exactly what was going on.  That definitely made me realize he wasn't joking, I could actually feel what was going on inside my dog's leg, and then see what was going on thanks to the model.  And yes, it's going to be an expensive procedure, but Dr. Kurth gave me his estimate, gave me his card, wrote down what she needs done, and told me to call around and get price quotes elsewhere if I wanted to.  That made me feel like he wasn't just diagnosing my dog so he would get the business.  He openly was telling me it was okay to go somewhere else.  And you know what else?  He didn't charge me for the office visit.  He felt bad that I had been to another vet and they couldn't diagnose her.  He said any good vet would have been able to tell what was wrong right away, without needing X-rays, and that I shouldn't have even had to go see him.  Well, lesson learned, next time I'll give Hermosa my money to diagnose my dog, instead of paying someone else who couldn't give me a diagnosis then having Hermosa waive my fee because they felt bad that I got hosed.  Lastly, this place was immaculate.  The entryway was large and spotless, the people in the lobby were all chatting with each other, talking about their pets, which made me feel comfortable.  And the exam room I waited in had a huge leather chair for me to sit in, black marble counters, and nice (granite?) tiled floors.  You'd think a visit would be expensive, right?  Nope.  To stop in is only $39.  Thank You, Hermosa!
