The core staff are consistently kind and helpful. Had to get an ultrasound for our dog and we were very unhappy with how little respect was shown for our time. We were asked to have our dog in before the 2-hr window started but the tech didn't show until 5-min before the window was over. Our dog is a rescue and is easily distraught when we're not with him at the vet so we waited a long time. It's 2017, there are much better ways to manage appointments and people's time during appointment windows. The 2-hour window had noting to do with good vet care and everything to do with the tech's schedule. I definitely do not recommend using these service through WPVC. I do recommend asking WPVC to book these types of appointments through Alameda East or a facility that has the equipment and staff in-house. You can also get the work done through an ER visit if you are willing to pay the extra fees. Had I known this, I could have chosen to pay the extra money and avoid a total loss of 5 hours of billing (waiting, driving back/forth, etc.) I know now, that I need to ask for options when receiving services not provided directly by WPVC staff. We have been taking our rescue pup to the Wash Park Clinic since we adopted her and everyone there has been very kind and supportive. The first vet we saw was very helpful in answering all our new puppy parent questions. We have trusted the vets and staff there with all of our puppy's vaccines as well as her spay surgery. We really like this Clinic it is just crazy expensive. The staff is super nice though!! My significant other and I really love this clinic but after doing more research due to an extreme quote on a Neuter we realized this place was over the top expensive. My family owns horses, cattle, dogs, etc.. and go to some of the best vets. I asked their vet if this quote and other things we had paid for previously was accurate and she had told me that it was triple what the average was. Of course we live in Downtown Denver so this is convenient for us versus going to Castle Rock. I will pay extra for the care my animals deserve but triple is insane. I wish the prices were lower because they do have a great staff :( Read Less

I had a poor experience here with my cat. My kitty hates the vet, although she's very sweet at home. My girl was flailing around and hissing because she was super scared. The vet tech could not examine her, so we called the veterinarian in. They still could not hold her down to examine her, and they were trying to grab her sides and hold her down to the table. I suggested a scruff hold and I was ignored in the chaos of trying to roughly hold my cat down. At this point, my cat is getting more and more agitated, hiding under the table, and I can see how exasperated the doctor was getting. In the end the doctor came back with a pair of shoulder length kevlar gloves, and with the help of the vet tech they literally wrestled her down on the ground and gave her the antibiotic shot she needed. My cat was super stressed out after this visit, heck so was I. I left confused and uncomfortable with the whole experience. Every other vet Ive seen, even with past cats, will just scruff a kitty when they are showing signs of distress. We could have avoided putting all this stress on my pet by just scruffing her and giving her the antibiotic. The staff was very nice but I was very unhappy with how they handled my cat. I absolutely love this clinic. I moved here a while back and ended a new vet and had no idea where to go, and I'm so glad I went with this clinic. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. The doctor we saw was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. She helped my sick pup, and even had a quote sheet written up for me so I could decide which option to go with. I loved this touch since vet costs can be high. However, I was also impressed with their pricing. My dog was sent home with 3 medications, fluids and anti nausea, plus her testing for around $225, which I believe to be very fair. Thankfully my dog just had an upset stomach, but I would feel confident taking her there for anything. If you're new in town and can't decide where to go, take your pup here! I 100% recommend! We are very disappointed with the care and service we received from Washington Park Vet Clinic. Our 8 year old lab needed help with some oozing hot spots around his body, likely resulting from allergies. Dr.Jones recommended that we treat him with cold laser therapy.  She informed us a package of 6 would cost $180 (buy 5 get one free) After the 4th treatment it was clear that the laser therapy was not working in fact the hot spots became more inflamed and our dog became very lethargic. While we were out of town for the holidays we decided to take our dog to a vet in the Steamboat area. This vet informed us that our dog was dealing with a severe infection and recommended that we give him a series of antibodies administered intravenously and a course of steroids. The shot was expensive ($165) due to the size of our dog (110lbs).  When we returned back to Washington Park Vet and asked if they could please follow the instructions recommended from the other vet, they told us the shot would cost $300. After much discussion they agreed to give our dog the shot for $165. When we asked, Melinda the office manager for a partial credit for the unused cold laser therapy treatment (which clearly didn't work in fact made our dog worse) to offset our $165 charge, she because very aggressive and threatened to report us to a bill collector. I offered to send her a check for $75 to cover the difference between the cost of the shot and our unused laser treatments. Once again, I mentioned to Melinda our dissatisfaction with the care our dog received and that I didn't appreciate her angry and mean disposition, I told her I planned to write this review. Melinda threatened me again that if I wrote this review she would hire an attorney and sue me for slander. Love this place. Very helpful. We have been going to this clinic for nearly 8 years. The last 3 years my 11 year old dog has had a number of health issues and the people here have been extremely helpful. They are always following up after either appointments or emergency vet visits and make sure I am aware of all the issues inherit of senior dog life. My pup is very people shy but she seems to take very well to everyone on staff. This week was incredibly stressful and both Melinda and Dr. Howard helped to calm some of the anxiety. Without exception, everyone on staff is knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. We have seen Dr. Jones and Dr. Weber and would recommend them both without hesitation. We received a pretty devastating cancer diagnosis for our cat after our second visit there. We could not have asked for a more compassionate approach from these doctors; they have consulted with us multiple times, referred us to specialists, and offered support for whatever treatment path we decided to pursue. The doctors themselves have been calling us and checking on how he is doing. Furthermore, the front-desk staff went the extra mile in terms of providing information to our pet insurance company to ensure our claims were covered. Also, our cat was boarding there over the holidays and the cold temperatures and wind caused a power outage in the building. The owner, Dr. Jones, went to the practice on Christmas Day and brought all of the cats to her own home. You can't get that kind of dedication and care just anywhere! Read Less

Very kind and attentive service! I had a bad experience previously taking my sweet, shy, kitty to a vet in New York City who had the vet tech (who looked like a slightly smaller version of The Mountain and wore massive rubber gloves) use a choke hold on him and nearly scared the life out of my cat. The vet and vet tech here were both experienced, very personable and didn't feel the need to restrain my cat, as they could sense he was of no threat to them. I woke up to a very sick kitty one morning and decided it was an urgent situation since she's always been a very healthy cat. I did some research online to find a vet near where I live and that was smaller office (I've had bad experiences with larger, more corporate vet offices) and found Washington Park Vet Clinic. I called and they were able to quickly get me in. My cat is not a very nice kitty at the vet and they handled her perfectly, also unlike other vets in the past. She ended up having to stay over night and undergo xrays and fluids. I knew this was going to be the most expensive vet visit I've ever had after always having healthy pets. The office understood that and ended up giving me as many breaks on the final bill as they could which I really appreciated. The vet, Dr.Jone, was so attentive and called multiple times to give me updates while my cat was staying there. She took time answering questions and explaining things. I didn't feel rushed out the door. I will certainly make them my go-to vet in Denver and I highly recommend them, especially if you live in Wash Park. Read Less

This is a great veterinary clinic that has taken care of both of my dogs for the last few years (since moving to Denver). I'm an especially big fan of Dr. Ingram because she knows my aging dogs so well and has taken such awesome care of them, but I also have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Jones and Dr. Howard as well. Recently I had such a great experience with this clinic!! My poor little dachshund had to have a lot of dental work done and Dr Howard and the team did such a great job handling and taking care of my little Ramona. She was super thorough in the consultation, called me twice during the service to keep me in the loop of everything that was going on and sent me home with her very well informed about her after care. We have been taking our dogs here for years but had to share our most recent experience as we have been here a lot lately. This practice is about the animals they serve -not about fancy lobbies. Staff is caring and professional and prices charged are fair. If we have an issue we have always been able to get in the same day and this time was no exception. Our dog developed kennel cough followed by a bad bout of bronchitis, they took excellent care of him and we felt both Dr. Jones and Dr. Ingram were thorough without going overboard. Our dog is on the mend! The following week our other dog was scheduled for teeth cleaning under anesthesia which my wife was very nervous about- Dr. Jones was very understanding and talked her through the process- it went well and our dog's teeth are great! Let's face it: no one like to go to the vet. Whenever we go there, we spend what feels like a lot of money and it is generally for a problem. This is all true, which is possibly why the reviews here are so-so.I cannot say enough good things about our recent visits to Wash Park vet. Our poor boy, Dudley, a yellow lab-bloodhound mixed was recently sent to doggy heaven, thanks to Wash Park vet. Dr. Ingram helped us objectively understand our dog's declining condition in the context of his pathology, which we desperately needed. Being so emotionally attached to Dudley, we needed this perspective. Dr. Ingram was thorough, empathic and positive about the scenario. She helped us decided that it was Dudley's time, a decision that was not taken lightly.Melinda delicately and patiently explained in great detail the procedure that would be done over the phone.On the day he was euthanized, the staff blew our minds with how sensitive they were. They saw us coming through the window and solemnly greeted us and walked us back to the room where the procedure was done. Dr. Jones conducted the procedure and made us feel at ease and cared for. It is in these instances that this type of attention to detail is crucial. As a psychotherapist, this sensitivity is paramount in moments of deep sadness and the staff delivered in a big way. Very clean, friendly, and professional. My dog has had 2 TPLO surgeries here and they take great care of him. Dr. Jones and Dr. Howard are both very caring and great at answering my questions. I've moved to the other side of town and I still take my dog here because they are the only place I really trust. I appreciate the phone calls and postcards they send to check on his status and remind me of upcoming vaccinations. They are pretty expensive but you definitely get what you pay for! Read Less

We take our pets here. They have always been friendly, efficient and as far as I know accurate in their treatment. Their prescription cat food is crazy expensive...but I expect that from a Veterinary Clinic. My dog has a complicated medical history that was sent to them by his previous vet prior to my appointment. At the appointment I verbally told them about it as well. Instead of listening to me and reading his file, they aspirated a lump and told me definitively that he has cancer. After being referred to an Oncologist I asked if I was going to see if he had cancer or more about his cancer. They confirmed that he has cancer and I was going to find out how to treat it. After a trip to the Oncologist, lots of tears and $900 later... he didn't have cancer. He had a lump due to the condition he has always had that they decided not to pay attention to. This clinic is so welcoming and loving to my dog. I have taken my dog to see Dr. Ingram, Dr. Harrington and Dr. Diller; and I have been overly satisfied with all here! Our visits have been routine check-ups, teeth cleaning, ear infections and hot spot treatments. They have been so helpful with giving Charley the right treatment. They discuss possible treatment options based on their point of view, the pro's and con's and price points. They have always given me multiple options to choose from and have spoken their opinion, in a respectful manner. They are also diligent on calling to check up on Charley, in a very timely manner. They accommodate my busy work schedule and I have never had a problem getting Charley in the same day or week as I call. They listen to the reason for my call and can judge the seriousness or lack of urgency to fit us in and adjust the scheduling time accordingly. The vets and vet-techs have been wonderful to my dog and me. You can see how much each WPVC employee loves working with animals. I could not have asked for a better vet. Read Less

I think they gave me the wrong cat back.Our kitty, Mia, is (roughly) 12 years old and has been noticeably slowing down the past two years. We took her in for a check up and the doctor was really nice. She explained what she was doing with Mia and what all of it meant and really made me, who knows literally zero about cats, feel really comfortable. There is one receptionist who is not very polite, and unfortunately I think a lot of people have based their entire review on that. Anyway, I have now met all 3-4 vets at this clinic through various check ups, all of which have been extremely patient (I ask ALOT of questions) and knowledgeable.We had recently noticed that Mia's mouth had been bothering her so we decided to get it checked  out. Everyone said they LOVED her and she was so nice and cuddly. Sadly, she had to have several teeth removed but Dr. Ingram explained the procedure, they provided photos of Mia before and after, and even let us keep her teeth! (kind of gross but also awesome.)I went to go pick Mia up from the vet 2 days ago and I think this might be the wrong cat. Mia has been acting 5 years younger!!! She is so happy and playful now, rolling around and asking for pets like I havent seen her do since my wife and I started dating! The only way we could've been happier is if the bill hadnt been so high, but I have no idea what a surgery like this costs elsewhere, so I wont drop a star. They provided high/low estimates and a breakdown of EVERY charge so we knew what we might be getting ourselves into. There wasnt any pressure to give them the go ahead, they offered their pet care card payment plan, and were all super helpful, knowledgeable and professional.I think the bad reviews from a couple years ago are a terrible representation for this business. I have been bring One-Eyed Jack here since I adopted him, about 4 years.This is a GOOD clinic. They make sure to keep Jack up to date on all his shots, and recently performed teeth cleaning/ surgery and Jack came through with flying colors- clearly feeling better than when he went in.  The staff and doctors are so nice, and treat my vicious rescue dog so nicely.  I have been happy and satisfied.Jack has had teeth cleaning under anesthetics and they were professional, caring, and he fared very well.  It was clearly necessary as his breath was bad and had 2 decaying teeth. We noticed he felt so much better afterwards. We all worked together to find a way to get Jack's teeth heathy, and as of today, they are! Yay!Jack also sustained a serious injury at the groomers and the clinic was so amazing getting him back to full health. Read Less

I had a terrible experience with this vet.  My dog was my first dog so I just assumed this is how vets are but since then I have tried two different vets and had MUCH better experiences.First of all, they will constantly try to rip you off.  They charge for an exam EVERY time you come in whether or not the dog actually needs an exam.  If I just need to pick something up or get a quick shot I shouldn't have to pay for a full exam.When my dog was a puppy she was constantly getting sick to her stomach, I will spare you the gross details.  The vet put her on rounds and rounds of antibiotics which is not ideal.  After the first round she immediately got sick again and the vet condescendingly told me that I was supposed to bring her in a few days before the antibiotics were over, no one had told me that.  So I had to do the whole thing again.  When it was done, again she was immediately sick.  After all of this I tried a new vet, without even examining her they told me to change her food.  I did, and she was better within a day and has been ever since.  I really felt that the vet would rather I keep coming in and paying them than fixing the issue as fast as possible.At the next vet they only charged for an exam if she needed one, if I just needed something quick I was in and out. I've been coming here for about four years, and while initially I felt neutral about them, lately I've definitely come to appreciate the staff and care. My dog was diagnosed with heart worm this summer, and Dr. Edgar and the technicians have been so amazing with her, with educating me, and with providing really good compassionate care during her treatment. They've taken more time to talk with me and explain things to me than either my own doctor or my daughter's pediatrician. I don't understand why they have several bad reviews on Yelp.
