"Doc" does have a few decades under his belt as a vet. But I trust him with my two Field Spaniels. Some reviews here complained about the age of his office decor, but his practice feels like a slice of Americana to me. Stupidly, I bounced between Dr. Voelker's practice and a couple of other vets around town that others had recommended. Lesson: The fancier the interior design is, the more the practice overcharged me. Seems obvious so I hate that I had to learn that the hard way. "Doc" is a good man. I recommend him to any dog owner. He has a simple way with the dogs AND humans! The dogs walk in without the normal fight. The pricing seems to be fair...tons lower than the prices I paid to...uh... help remodel the Smoky Hill Vet Hospital AND to help The Hampden Animal Hospial buy a FANCY 3-story building. Ugh! Never again. I can overlook Dr. Voelker's dated paneling in exchange for fair pricing. My dogs agree.Read Less

Dr. Voelker and Jennifer deserve a glowing review. I couldn't have expected more. I was new to them a couple weeks ago, and will continue to take any animal I have to them in the future. Not only that, they have EXTREMELY REASONABLE prices. My senior dog (Daisy, 13+) needed teeth removed. If you've ever done research on the cost of dental procedures for animals, you know how big those bills can get. I was charged right at the estimated amount, even though my dog had more bad teeth than we initially thought, and hundreds of dollars under any other quote I've encountered. They're also very professional. They BOTH called to check on Daisy before and after surgery, and re-checked her one week after surgery. They did a blood test to make sure she was fit enough for surgery. They provided more than enough pain medication, antibiotics, and advice. Best of all, Daisy had a speedy recovery time and came out perkier than ever. Forget the frills and detached staff of those other vets, these people are in it for the right reasons. Read Less

Dr. Voelker is the best vet I've ever had and I'm so glad I found him! His methods are down to earth and show that he truly cares for the animal and the human care giver. After my dog got attacked he was there to give advice and help me through my dog's healing process. He did this even though we were living in a different state and hadn't seen him in over a year! If I ever have an illness or injury to my fur baby I will definitely be calling Doc. His vet techs are also amazing. They are kind and professional. They are always sweet to us when we are in the office and professionals on the phone. I recommend choosing Dr. Voelker to be your animal's health professional because he has helped me and my dog through puppy hood, moving to Hawaii, sickness, and injuries with knowledge, professionalism, and care. I'm so glad I found Doc! He always puts my mind at ease regardless of what's going on with my animal. His conservative approach always has what's best for my dog long term in mind. I never have sticker shock and Doctor Gary seems like he tries to keep his prices down. My dog perks up when I ask if he wants to go see Gary because of the great care we've received here. I have been looking for regular veterinarian since I moved to Colorado two years ago and, although I have taken my cats, Maddox and Moxie, to two or three other local places to get their shots and basic necessities, I have not been impressed. I have been treated like a moron novice by some veterinarians who don't know (or don't care) that I've had cats all my life and have dealt with their needs and various health issues since I was a very little girl. I have seen these veterinarians treat my cat like a piece of property, not a member of the family. And I've paid exorbitant prices, as well.When my cat Maddox needed a tooth extracted, I called several veterinarians for prices and appointments; the cost was daunting and many could not see him for week or more. But when he broke his tooth and was no longer eating at all, I knew he could not wait. I called Dr. Voelker at Heritage Park Veterinary Clinic because his office is just down the road from my home, and I was impressed with his Yelp reviews. He did not disappoint.I took Maddox to be looked at by Dr. Voelker yesterday afternoon after work. He saw the tooth was broken and scheduled me an appointment for first thing this morning, at 7AM before his first appointment. He was gentle but efficient when handling Maddox, and showed genuine concern for his health and well being. I was beyond grateful that he was willing to fit Maddox in and to come in so early on a Saturday, as well. He gave me a jar of baby food to take home with us after our appointment yesterday, and called me mid-morning for an update on Maddox's progress after his surgery. His price was also less than half of any of the prices I had been quoted before -- very reasonable.Dr. Voelker and his staff truly seemed to care about my cat, and to understand that pets are so much more than just an animal -- they're family. I was touched by his compassion and obvious care for living creatures that he showed. He also has an office cat who is Maddox's exact doppelganger -- just the kind of uncanny coincidence I can appreciate. I'm beyond pleased to have found this veterinary practice. I went in to see the vet from a referral by my neighbor who said he was affordable and he would do payment plan options.  Since his practice is down the street I thought it was pretty convenient. My husky got a laceration and I knew it needed stitches. To having an already crappy day I took her in because he was close and the review my neighbor gave him. Got inside he looks at her says its 250-300$ I ask about payment options he said "absolutely not! You heard wrong!! I take checks or credit card."  So I said ok well I think it's important my dog receives care and said I will pay with credit card and then he looks at me and says "yeah you need to take care of this today but I just don't have the time I have to meet with my attorney!"  Ok. Don't say you can do it then tell me to go someplace else.  He was rude and could have cared less about my dogs open wound. Not a vet I would ever recommend!!!! Read Less

Dr. Voelker was recommended to me by a friend, and has now been our family's vet for 20 years!  He has provided us and our 3 dogs with excellent and caring and professional treatment over the years.  He is personable and reasonably priced, and goes above and beyond and out of his way to accommodate, communicate, and ensure good care of our beloved dogs, during regular visits and our many emergencies.  I have several friends who use him as well, and they are very happy with his services.  I strongly recommend Dr. Voelker and Heritage Veterinary Clinic! I wish i could give this place 0 stars but i cant. This place will rip you off. I took my two 5 month old kittens here to get fixed and my bill was $750 dollars!!!! Are you serious??
