Animal Hospital Of Colorado

Fort Collins, Colorado
General Info
The Animal Hospital of Colorado delivers veterinary care through pattern-based visits to families in Fort Collins and throughout the state. Animals use their stable movements and consistent tones as mechanisms to navigate unfamiliar situations. Every day appointment rooms follow an identical setup sequence where furniture arrangements and lighting positions along with entry points remain unchanged to prevent superfluous decision needs. Personnel exhibit restricted vocal modulation combined with limited movement arcs while implementing pauses between procedural steps to facilitate pet adaptation. The management of odors receives significant attention as scents are neutralized between visits to prevent sensory accumulation. Pet owners can choose to sit either nearby or far away depending on the orientation pattern of their pets. The Animal Hospital of Colorado delivers diagnostic services alongside infection control measures while also offering joint health assessments, nutritional modifications, behavioral consultations, and recovery monitoring. The presentation of each service emerges through a sequential process instead of a simple enumeration. When the creature turns away or lowers its ears staff members re-establish familiar cues through repetitive low-impact actions such as stroking the air or offering a tactile anchor like a towel or sleeve. Protocols for post-care treatment involve rhythm-based reintegration. Instruction is provided to families on maintaining morning routines post-treatment while learning to reduce home stimuli and apply gentle ambient sounds for sleep cycle regulation. Instructions extend beyond simple prescriptions since they incorporate environmental adjustments that assist pets in smoothly rejoining their daily activities without confusion. Animal Hospital of Colorado extends its veterinary services from Fort Collins to neighboring Colorado areas by emulating natural animal regulation through its gentle rhythm and predictable space complemented by low-noise decision-making.

This Vet is awesome. I adopted a dog with distemper several months ago through the rescue he supports. I was given all of the information and pros and cons of adopting a dog with this illness. I talked to my usual vet and he strongly cautioned me against doing this and said that any dog with distemper should be put down regardless of their possible chances for recovery. This seemed inhumane, so I went with the information Dr. Eric had given me at this clinic. 4 months later, we have truly the sweetest dog I've ever met, much less owned. I shudder at the thought that another Dr. would've sentenced this little girl to death instead of giving her a chance. She has the same slight twitch from her illness that she had originally, and that's it. Other than a couple relatively inexpensive rounds of treatment to support her recovery and some shampoos for ringworm that she'd acquired in the process being adopted out, this hasn't been an expensive or traumatic experience whatsoever. This guy actually LIKES animals and wants to help them and support their families. That's more than I can say for a lot of Vets, and I've worked with several. Read Less

Usually I don't like doing reviews, but given my experience compared to some of the other posts on here, I figured it was worth the time. We adopted a pup from All Aboard Rescue. So firstly, they are not a fake rescue, so do your research. They foster dogs to loving, volunteer homes and then adopt them to permanent homes. Secondly, always be prepared to spend money on a pet, rescue or not, that is a part of being a pet owner. Thirdly, you have to realize that rescues are special, they can be THE MOST loving and loyal dogs but they come with a history that you may never fully know which can lead to expensive vet bills or bad behaviors. Eventually with love, proper care, and training, you will see improvements. But again, do your research and be responsible. As for my experience with this vet. I absolutely love this vet. They take the time to fully explain different training techniques, medical conditions, typical breed issues, and more. I haven't experienced this vet being more expensive than my last and I actually transferred to this vet after poor treatment for my pup from another. They love our dogs, naturally especially the one from the rescue. I highly recommend this vet, others may have had a different experience, but any vet that will explain everything like this vet does is worth every moment and penny for my pups. Thanks! Read Less

Worst experience ever. The doctor was nothing but rude and insulting when I talked to him. I have owned several pets and know the vaccines they need and proper care that comes with certain breeds, but he talked to me like I was a five year old and didn't stop to listen to me. The whole exam last 5 minutes and he pretty much told us to leave after he was done. I took my new pup there for the free exam and I was still charged. The way he talks to the staff to is horrible, I overheard a conversation and he was pretty much degrading the girl and I felt bad for her. I had heard horrible reviews about this place before and only took my dog there because of the exam, but I will never recommend this place to anyone. I couldn't even receive the exam report from them when I called to have it transferred to my vet, they questioned me on the phone as to why i needed it sent somewhere else. It took my own veterinarian to call herself and ask for the records. Read Less

You should do so for any vet you are considering using.  This site will take you to the Department of Regulatory Agencies' website, if there have been actions taken against the vet.  The site lists all Letters of Admonition and Stipulation as well as any other actions that may have been taken with a vet in response to complaints.    Dr. Boehmer has four letters of Admonition and one Letter of Stipulation noted since 2007.  The site lists the reason for each letter and you can decide for yourself whether his service is one you want to use or not.  It is all public information and is available on any licensed professional in the state. This is not a fake rescue as noted in the comments below. AAAR kindly drives to areas of New Mexico where spaying is low and kill rates are high. They clean out high-kill shelters and often come back with many, many puppies (and mamas). Eric examines each and every one and treats them all if they are sick out of his own pocket and the funds for the Rescue. We had multiple appointments taken care of by the rescue/vet when we got our puppy. It saved us a couple hundred dollars and made rescuing a more reasonable option -- because yes, we did willingly go home with a sick puppy. But isn't that the point of rescuing? Taking a dog that no one else wants? Read Less

I got my dog from the rescue supported by the vet here. When I got him his behavior made me believe that the previous owners had beaten the dog in some way and possibly tied his feet together. He was very skittish and didn't do well with new people. Once I had the opportunity to show him he finally had a safe home with someone who really cared about him we made an instant connection and I have not had a single problem with this dog since I've gotten him. I continue to return to this vet because I feel he does a great job, his bedside manner is a little unconventional but I find the people who are best at their jobs tend to be a tad unconventional. Coming from a family has a long history of rescuing dogs there is usually some type of complication with that animal and I believe that's why there have been a number of one star reviews, people truly don't understand this aspect of rescuing, they want perfect. I will continue to take my dog back to this vet for as long as I live in Fort Collins and make no mistake there is nothing I care about more in my world right now than this dog. Read Less

To echo what Jonathan B. said, I feel compelled to write this to counter other reviews on the web. My wife and I have 4 dogs, all of which we have been taking here for several years. Eric has been consistently professional and honest about what our dogs do and don't need. He has always been forthcoming about whether or not our dog needs treatment and what treatments are needed and how much. Our budget is limited, and we understand that there is an expense for treatment on our animals. I don't want the cheapest , I want the best for my babies. As I write this, my boy Duke is undergoing surgery for a hematoma. I would not trust his care to anyone else because I know the surgery will be done with care and compassion. My wife and I trust Eric, that's the best recommendation I can give. The man truly cares about his patients and their owners. Read Less

I had to go out of my way to write this because of the dubious reviews about this place  I've seen elsewhere. Dr. Boehmer isn't just a brilliant DVM, he is a great person. He cares about your pet's well-being. He would never risk a pet's safety. I am a college student with a modest budget, and yes I leave this place with a lighter wallet, but the best pet care isn't free; this place is also not overly expensive, it's just the right value in fact. If you really care about your pet, you WILL NOT find yourself a better vet in Fort Collins. Dr. Boehmer (call him "Eric" he says) will not only provide your pet with the best care, he'll provide you with all the comprehensive information specifically tailored to your concerns in a respectful way that makes you feel comfortable (not like you are kissing up to some big ego who's time you're wasting as some doctors can be). I give this place an A+, and am as lucky to have found such a great doctor like Eric as I am to have found such an incredible pooch like my sweet Ellie. Read Less

We were referred from our Denver vet becasuse they did not want to treat our pups in their facility. The Animal Hospital staff called us every day to give us updates and let us visit with our puppies in a time that worked for us and not always them. They are up to date on treatment options and have always gone above and beyond for our entire family. They are a dedicated, professional team of knowledgeable people who cared about our feelings for our pets and not their extraordinary time and effort. I would always recommend them to anyone. Don't Go to Eric Boehmer, DVM at Animal Hospital of Colorado! Even if you have a coupon for a free vet visit from Project REX/Pets Plus! He gave my 6 month old puppy prednisone without consulting with me first, and had no step down dosing instructions! Also extremely difficult to get a copy of your pets medical records or to get them faxed to your new vet. When I said I would wait there in his office until he sent them & I received confirmation from my new vet that they had been faxed, he threatened to call the cops on me if I waited and kicked me out of his office. This vet deserves to lose his license! He tries to tell people that they should pay twice as much money for him to neuter their male puppies because unlike the other vets in town he uses pain medication before and after. This is a bunch of crap, and I'm sure the other vets in town would be completely insulted to know that he's going around saying this.

Read Less

I suggest you look up Dr. Boehmer's record with the Colorado State Department of Veterinary Medicine. We adopted a dog and a "free" vet exam was included. We scheduled our appointment with animal hospital of Colorado . Where asked to bring a stool sample and we did. We met the vet and he checks our pup out. At the end of everything I get a bill for 50 buck for fecal exam, if I had known before appointment I would have not brought any sample. Free isn't free at his office. I'm sure he's a fine vet but dishonest up front about visit being free. We won't be using him in the future. Read Less

Read Less

Animal Hospital of Colorado is wonderful! They saved both of our puppies lives and we will always be grateful to them. Our pups are now a year old and doing wonderfully. Read Less

Read Less
