I honestly had a great experience here! I was a bit hesitant since I was taking my kitten, Sanders, here for a surgery but it was my first time here. I was referred to them from another vet and I understand why. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They were efficient with the paperwork and making sure I understood the procedure. They also put me at ease by calling once the surgery was done to let me know Sanders did well and was recovering fine. I didn't have to wait all day anxiously. The Dr. himself called with the update which I really appreciated since he performed the actual surgery. When I went the next day to pickup Sanders, they were again friendly and prompt. They even made some comments about Sanders, that he was a cutie and ready to go home etc. It made it seem like they actually took the time to check in on him while he was there etc. which again, I appreciated since he was there overnight. The Dr. explained his recovery, how he was doing and the after care instructions. He was kind and answered all my questions. The Dr. even pointed out a small bump they found on Sanders neck while he was doing the pre-surgical exam and told me to watch it. The bump has since gone away but I appreciated that he pointed it out to me so I was aware to keep an eye on Sanders. It also showed that the vet did a thorough examination. Sanders surgery went well, no complications and he is back to being an active kitty. The Dr. and staff even continued to check in on Sanders several times after he was home to be sure he was still doing well. I highly recommend Aspen Grove! Read Less

Aspen Grove is an exceptional animal hospital! My dogs have been seeing Dr. Bobby for 10ish years and he is awesome! He always comes into the exam room with a warm smile. He thoroughly explains everything and is very caring! I have also seen Dr. Julia and Dr. Liz and they are also excellent and caring. Every time my dog has an appointment the doctor or staff contacts me the next day to see how he is doing! All the nurses are excellent and have helped me immeasurably with my diabetic dog. I have been going here for almost 3 years. Aspen grove is the best! There entire staff from the docs to the technicians, the front desk and the daycare and boarding girls. I've left my dog with them for a week while on vacation and they call you tell let you know how your dogs doing, and when it comes to picking up your dog they give you pictures of what your pup was up to. I started taking my 14 year old dog here when he blew out his back knee and my vet at the time wanted to do a very complicated and expensive surgery that had a long recovery period. I got a second opinion from Dr. Bobby, who repaired Dodger's knee, and that surgery sustained him until we had to put him down at 17 (for reasons unrelated to the knee). I now take my new dog here, and they've always done a great job with getting us in, as well as refilling his prescriptions quickly. I've seen some 1 star reviews on here, but I've worked at a vet clinic before and like any industry, you can't make everyone happy 100% of the time. With that being said, I would definitely recommend Aspen Grove to anyone with pets, as I've had nothing but pleasant experiences and know they really care about my fur babies just as much as I do. I have been going to this vet since i got my dog 2 1/2 years ago. Although i initially very much enjoyed this vet I would say that the last 6 months maybe longer has vastly changed my opinion of this establishment. I have had payments not recorded on my account, where if i had not had my receipt there would have most likely been nothing that i could do. I have had extra charges. And most importantly i have been unable to have thorough explanations on medication, what the best route is, or their intent on serious medical issues for my dog. One last thing that i just remembered as well was that my dog received kennel cough from drinking water while we waited in a room. I have always enjoyed the staff here however there are some serious areas where this establishment is lacking, that i feel are pointed out in my post. Read Less

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. We have used Aspen Grove for several years and every time they get worse. I had my childhood dog die in their building and there was no sympathy and no trying harder. They let her die and refused to do anything else because of her age. The main veterinarian (the absolute worst) actually insisted that my family would choose to put my dog down before he even thought of surgery. There is terrible negative vibes from everyone who works here. They are always jumping to the worst an treat you like you abuse all of your pets. Today my dog went for his eye and treated my family like we are bad people and wanted to keep our dog longer and the last thing the assistant nurse vet person said that he will lose his eye. Never go here. It's a terrible experience every time. Just really bad people. Response to owner: I was there through everything you described so I didn't need to hear it again. I know you talked to my mom and she thought you guys were rude. I work in customer service and if I EVER treated one of my customers the way you have treated our family, I would be fired. I don't need your excuses (which is all you have done on every response to your reviews). Frankly, if someone complained and said that things I said about your customer service to me, I would apologize and ask how I could be better but all you guys want to do is make excuses and explain why your wrong. I absolutely do NOT want to hear your poor excuses for being the way you were. I just wanted an apology. Customers deserve an apology when a company makes an error. I recently began fostering for Izzy's Place Senior Dog Rescue. My very first foster baby, Sassy, needed extensive surgical care. I was worried sick about her well-being. It wasn't until after I met Dr. Cawthron and his team, that I began to feel at ease. Not only is the hospital beautiful, clean and cheerful, but every single one of the staff members are so very kind, encouraging, knowledgeable and professional....from the coordinators at the front desk to the medical team in the "back". Dr. Cawthron gave me as much time as I needed at each appointment, to be certain that all of my questions were answered. I never felt rushed. He explained the procedures in layman terms so that I would understand exactly what was going to take place and what the complications may be. I brought Sassy home today after her first surgery and she is doing so well! It was very obvious to me that she was given exceptional care and extra love while she was with Aspen Grove. I will not hesitate to make the drive from Boulder to Ft. Collins for her next surgery, and for the cares of my future foster babies! Very disappointed in Aspen Grove Veterinary Clinic! They recommended Arlo (my Rottweiler) receive a TPLO surgery on his knee, and sent me a quote for $2800 bucks (later they stated that this quote was for a different procedure that was neither recommended nor requested). I agreed to the $2800 and scheduled the appointment for Monday. Tonight they sent me another quote for $3200 bucks and when I had the audacity to question their quote, they cancelled my dogs surgery and recommended I find a new vet (after 5+ years). They apparently didn't appreciate my verbiage "sticking it to me". They felt like I had been insensitive to their staff. Obviously their staffs sensibilities are more important than my dogs physical pain! Read Less

When I moved to FoCo in March of 2015 I did my research before deciding on a vet for my cat and dog fur babies. I chose Aspen Grove because of their reviews and personal references- I have no regrets. The staff is amazing! They have been helpful and understanding when I request only low cost options (I'm in grad school). They asked for all my animals past records as well as called the clinic where my dog received surgery to get more information. It's obvious that they truly care about my pets health. I also love the portal where you can see when your animals have received vaccinations and when they need checkups. I definitely recommend Aspen Grove! Read Less

We have 2 cats and a dog and have entrusted Aspen Grove with their care for the 2 years we have been in Fort Collins. We left a very experienced and high quality veterinarian in Boulder, so the bar was set high for finding a new vet in town and we have been pleased with the care our animals have received. The front desk, Drs., technicians, and boarding/day care staff have always been professional and caring toward us and our pets. Our 9 year old dog recently had severe health problems (2 tumors on his spleen which resulted in a splenectomy and resulting lab work that confirmed lymphoma). He also had a neurological deficit that cause him to be ataxic in his back legs (legs criss-crossing and very unstable) - so severe that he could barely walk and would slip and fall. It was heartbreaking, but after several acupuncture visits he's walking fine and back to about 90%. Huge shout out to Dr. Julia and tech Meenakshi for their loving care and professionalism during our acupuncture visits - they were outstanding! And Dr. Bobby confirmed the recommended course of action that we also received from the emergency vet we used after hours in town. We have brought our dog to the doggy day care and boarding and have had great experiences with that. All told, Aspen Grove is a great practice and I have referred friends here who have had great experiences as well. I'm surprised there are unfortunately not more positive reviews on Yelp. I think that's more a testament to the fact that people are more likely to complain about a negative experience than they are to rave about a positive one. Read Less

the care we received was awesome, however I was disappointed when our puppy was given back to us reeking of cigarette smoke. our family is allergic to cigarette smoke and it was pretty offensive. I called and complained and was told that none of the staff smoked, which I know was a flat out lie, the girl who was caring for our baby stunk like smoke even her breath smelled like cigarettes.anyway, care was awesome, overpriced and other than the stinky vet tech this place did a good job. we probably wouldn't go back though. I'm pretty sure the animals don't like smelling like cigarette smoke either especially since they are there to feel better. Read Less

Our 4 year old Great Pyrenees spent four nights at Aspen Grove & loved it. It was his first time staying over at a kennel that was not just at Grandma's house. Very affordable at only $28/night. They keep the dogs active for hours, which is great for our little man. He must have lost 5 pounds just from sprinting back & forth in the runs & playing with the other dogs. The only down side was pick-up times on the weekends.. had to pick him up before noon if we did not want to get charged another day. We returned home on Saturday at 9PM, but had to have my brother-in-law pick our dog up before noon so that we were not charged for another night. Read Less

When I first got my dog Rosco I was not sure where to even begin. I did some research and happened to get lucky that I chose Aspen Grove.  Rosco, being a pup, got hurt more than I thought possible, but taking him here made life easier. The staff is always friendly and knowledgable  and the vet always did what he could to help out. Seeing how I was a college student being at the vet all the time was less than ideal. Rosco has stayed the night there multiple times and has always been happy about it. Once he escaped and they sent the whole office out trying to catch him. They were all so nice and it made me feel even more confident to leave him there. The escape was all Roscos fault. He is a strong boy and can jump! I did not know this until that day, but boy can he jump ever since. They did everything they could to get him back, and isn't that what you want if something happens? Anyway, I live in Boulder now and I am driving back up in a month just to leave him there when I go on a trip. It's not the first time I have done that either. When making the decision to put our beloved dog companion of 12 years down, we had an expectation that our beautiful boy would be put down by able, skilled, confident, prepared and relaxed professionals.  Instead we selected Aspen Grove and we received none of these afore mentioned attributes from the people we entrusted with this most important last act of care for our dog.  I don't know if it was their first or fiftieth attempt to euthanize in home, but it was certainly the worst and can only be summed up as clumsy, ill-prepared and extremely stressful to everyone involved.  I attempted to give the business owner Jaime the opportunity to respond to my complaint and she was apologetic, admitted they failed and caused us additional pain but made no offer to refund any part of the charge.  In this situation, no words can change what happened, so as business owners the only thing they can do to try to make up for this failure is offer monetary compensation.  But, they once caused my dog to go deaf temporarily and didn't offer any refund then either, so I am only left to assume that they regularly fail the owners of the pets entrusted to them so refunding for poor or failed service would likely put them out of business.In closing, we've devoted the last 12 years of our lives to providing the very best home for Coal and ensuring the very best care for him.  It is so sad that our final act of kindness was such a disorganized mess and I'm left with serious doubts as to whether they were competent enough to even know if he was dead or not.  We will never know if Coal was affected by what went on around him.  We will never know if their incompetence caused him any pain.  The only thing we do know for certain is that we are left with not only the tremendous pain of the loss of our dog, but the emotional scar from the guilt of having entrusted this business with the most important procedure of his life, only to have them make a mockery of it.
