There are not enough words to express how grateful my husband and I are to have found a vet like Dr. Hoke. We had been visiting another local vet who continuously charged us outrageous prices for our cats and dogs for routine check in’s, over $120 per visit. We did not realize how extreme this was until we called Dr. Hoke to come out and check on our flock of sheep. We started talking and realized it was a necessity for all of our animals to become a part of the Dark Horse family. She is efficient and real, never overinflating services or talking you into something unnecessary. When we struggled keeping weight on our brooding sheep, Dr. Hoke built a personalized plan for us to continue healthy weight progression and even vouched for us when questions were raised by others regarding the health of our flock. Yesterday, our dog got scratched at a daycare that also has a vet clinic attached. Their clinic confirmed it would cost over $600 to suture him up, but when we called Dark Horse, we were able to see them the next morning for a visit that cost $66 total, including a full exam and dewormer. Courtney is also a pleasure to work with, always getting back to us first thing and following up when needed. The pair make an awesome duo that you just don’t see very often anymore. Dr. Hoke is an exceptional veterinarian. When my Tabby had cancer, Dr. Hoke handled her care with compassion and grace. She always made sure I was fully informed of all of my options and when the time came for my pet to pass, Dr. Hoke made sure she did not suffer. She is knowledgeable and realistic. Stephanie is the by far best Veterinarian I've ever met. Wellington vet clinic want to charge me over $1800 to have a procedure done, and she did it for $300. Then let me know while she was sedated she said she went ahead and cleaned her teeth and cut her nails. Goes above and beyond what needs to be done. Absolutely love this clinic. Recently my dog needed her anal glands drained, and she charget me $10. I was like please charge a at least an office visit and she would only charge me the $10. Then she told me she could show me how to do it myself, so I wouldn't have to bring her in again. Nope I will bring her back everytime. This clinic is by far the best!! Read Less

I found Dr. Hoke through another site regarding potbellied pigs. I called Dr. Hoke and spoke with her regarding my recently rescued pig and immediately felt like I found the right DVM. She was amazing from the first conversation through the entire workup and subsequent care of my new addition to the family. Dr. Hoke is probably one of the best vets in the area, I have been using her services for over 2 years now and have never once been disappointed. She has seen literally every single one of my 20+ animals on my ranch (horses, goats, dogs cats and a littler of kittens and puppies!). Each one having their own kind of emergency at one point! She truly has the best interests for each and every animal at heart. There have been multiple times when I had an emergency but couldn't be there while she did the service and she fixed my animals and left me the bill to be paid when I could because she knew of my unfortunate situation and worked with me. Dr. Hoke is very compassionate and knowledgeable about all sorts of animals - livestock to the house cat. The ability of Dr. Hoke to come to our farm and take care of all of our animals in one visit is such a peace of mind. We also firmly believe this causes less stress on the animals - if they are in pain, or not feeling well, she comes to them in their home rather than having to be loaded up and taken somewhere. Last spring we were in a situation where we had to put down a dog and a horse on the same day - it was rough. Dr. Hoke made it better because she was able to put them down at their home, they didn't have to suffer through transport, and were surrounded by other four legged and two legged family as they passed. The other thing we really appreciate about Dr. Hoke is that she is the first vet we have ever used that actually will try to talk us out of a procedure, if it is truly not needed. Every other medical personnel we have used, animal or otherwise continually tries to 'sell' us on perhaps unnecessary procedures, we have never felt exploited by Dr. Hoke. She has always gone above and beyond in explaining animal husbandry which has been invaluable as newbies to the farming world. I have used Dr. Hoke's services since 2010 and have been nothing but pleased. In addition to taking care of some pretty ragged emergencies, she has dispensed A+ routine care to anything with 4 legs on my ranch......cats, dogs, cattle, goats, and horses. I love the convenience of having her do my small animal preventative care at home. In addition, finding a vet to treat goats (and do it well) in this area is hard and she has good knowledge of them and treats them well. I recommend her to all of my friends. Dr. Hoke has done everything for me from castrations on young horses, rabies vaccinations, dehorning goats to treating a prolapsed uterus in a cow. Her prices are very reasonable and she will give you options in different price ranges to care for the animal. Dr. Hoke has taken excellent care of our animals (both large and small) for about three years now and I really appreciate her overall knowledge, animal handling skills and ability to be honest and straightforward in all that she does. She does a great job balancing the best of patient care with the limitations of an owners budget (without making it a judgement on your character). My animals have received great care and I've always felt that she has their best interests at heart. Plus, since I own a dog that would rather eat a vet than cooperate with one, if Dr. Hoke can win her over, she has my recommendation any day! Read Less
