It’s a shame how this location has treated myself and my two dogs. I would suggest heading to a different location, this is the only bandfield I have ever had issues with. Dr. Jacobs never takes more than 5 min with each of them, and acts annoyed when I have questions. Getting my prescriptions filled here for my dog with heart issues is also hard, my prescriptions are good for a year and it always seems to be a big issue for them to refill them. Like I said it is never a problem at ANY of the other bandfield locations. Read Less

Had to post this on their new Yelp too as they are clearly trying to hide the bad reviews on their original! Not a good office.Despite good experiences in the past with Dr. White, I would not recommend anyone ever take their pet here. The other doctors I have dealt with did not listen to me about my dog's issues or even consult her file and tried to recommend unneeded, costly treatments. The technicians and staff are all young and inexperienced and seem to have a very high turnover rate. When discussing my dog's treatment with the staff in the front room, I was met with outright hostility for not agreeing to their unnecessary and expensive treatment plan. That was far from the last straw, however. While my dog was hospitalized here, I heard her cry with pain and fear like I had never heard before. I understand dogs cry at the vet often, and mine is no exception, but this cry still haunts me. In her hospitalizations since, of which there have unfortunately many, I have never heard anything like it. I immediately took my dog and left. They referred me to the wonderful Animal Specialty Group to care for my dog, and that was truly the best thing they ever did for me. I don't know what agony they put my dog through, but I hope your pet doesn't have to go through it.Please take your business elsewhere. Read Less

I made an appointment here because we wanted a second opinion regarding my  Pomeranian. I took advantage of their free new client exam. The people up front were courteous, but not really friendly. We were taken back just a couple of minutes later. I excused myself to use the restroom, but my husband stayed with our pooch. The vet (Dr. Johnson??)came in and my husband told her about the limp our dog had. Sher inexistent took her to the back so she could see her walk (without my husband). Apparently she did an "exam" of or dog in the back without us present (I don't like that). I return from the bathroom and the vet brings our dog in and says "she has grade 2 luxating patellas and she would eventually need surgery. She said she didn't see a limp(that's a crock, she was limping when she went in and came out from the back, I know my dog). My husband explained we were looking for a second opinion and that our vet had said hip dysplasia. Our original vet had done xrays and saw that. This vet suddenly became hostile  saying "well we are not dong xrays and if we did it would be $350-400" She stayed over by the door like she was in a hurry to get out of there. I don't Care about cost when it comes to our dog, she is our baby. I do Care about kindness and compassion. We felt like she was threatening us with costs!!! I guess what troubled me is she never asked is any questions about our pup. She never gave any recommendations about diet, supplements, or anything that could possibly help us keep this from going to surgery. I don't trust her diagnosis at all. She didn't seem like she even  cared if we ever came back. She gave us a list of surgeons and sent us on our way. We were in and out in 15 minutes!! I feel like she came up with the most common problem with Pomeranians and decided that since she was limping, that had to be it. How can I trust she even looked at my dog since it was without us in the back?? Not a good practice. And my pup was weird the rest of the day. Idk what happens in the back, but don't let your dog back there without you!!! Or just find another vet. These people left a very bad taste in my mouth. Our regular vet at Vetwerxs for an office visit, xrays, and some pain meds was $250. We wanted a second opinion, not because we don't trust our vet, but we just wanted to make sure. We do the same for ourselves as humans, so why not our dogs?? Our regular vet welcomed getting a second opinion and is always kind, transparent, compassionate, and gives us options. Read Less

Yikes. Visit number 1 they sent me home with the wrong medication. Visit number 2 they are supposed to pull a tooth, and while my dog was under they said, "We actually need to pull a few other teeth as well," and of course I'm not going to make my dog go through anesthesia twice just so I could have time to weigh the necessity of the procedure so I allowed them to do it and picked up the extra $500 cost despite feeling backed into a corner. I was disenchanted with them at this point and decided not to do Heartgard through them anymore (they had given my dog had a six month shot for that) and I don't know if it's unreasonable for me to expect them to call me or email me to let me know that the shot is going to expire soon, but that time passed so I got to pay them some extra money to have them test my dog for heartworm again so I could pick up a prescription elsewhere. Anyway, I have no doubts to the capabilities of the vets and techs here when a pet actually needs care, but this business model is crazy and counterintuitive and I urge you to support a local business. I paid $75 a year for a wonderful vet in Utah that would be the equivalent of the Banfield wellness plan (40-50 a month) and even though I have lived in Colorado for 2 years I STILL get reminders from the Utah clinic reminding me about checkups and vaccinations and such for my dog. My wellness plan has finally ended and I can't wait to find a new vet. Read Less

*I ran out of space on the Banfield Survey, but I had more to say*For starters, going to the Vet with my dog has always been an anxious and nerve wracking (not to mention wallet-draining) process. I usually feel deceived or tricked when I leave and always end up spending more for services that aren't necessary. I am always afraid of being taken advantage of because I am emotional and am very over protective of my pet. Needless to say, I was pretty nervous about trying a new vet. Banfield (Glendale) could not have done a better job of reversing my fear and anxiety. I have never had a more positive vet experience. Ever. It all started with John, who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable when helping me schedule my appointment over the phone. I explained my concerns and that I was a Banfield first-timer, to which he responded with such genuine care and patience. The woman who checked me in (I am so sorry that I did not catch her name) was so sweet and friendly! She asked about my day and personally greeted my dog, Roxy, and was just so welcoming- it really helped ease my anxiety of coming to a new vet for the first time. Full disclosure, I am OBSESSED and very over protective (as mentioned above) when it comes to my dog. Dr Velez was more attentive and gentle with Roxy than I could have hoped for! He was so knowledgeable and really took the time to explain everything he was doing to me in detail. He also took the time to explain WHY he was suggesting certain options and also informed me of alternative options based on what I felt comfortable with. That was so HUGE and important to me that he really, genuinely cared.  He also was so attentive to me and Roxy that he mapped out a priority list of treatment options based on severity, importance and price. Thank you, Dr. Velez, for making me feel comfortable and taking care of my baby girl! Everyone was absolutely amazing!! But the visit would not have been as incredibly stress-free and just overall outstanding if it weren't for Brenda. She was seriously the best and a total life saver. She was so intuitive and was able to read if I needed more information or explanation on something (Dr. V explained very well, but its easy for me to miss things when I am nervous about Rox). She spent so much time with me, making sure that I fully understood everything and suggested the wellness plan that made the most sense based on Roxy's situation. She also asked me follow up questions to fully understand my concerns and determine the best solutions to the questions I asked her. And the best part- she was HONEST and REAL with me. I truly felt like everything she suggested or mentioned was to benefit me and my dog. She made me feel like I was talking to a friend about my neurotic obsession with my dog- just honest and comfortable. I cannot thank her enough. I will definitely be back and have already told my fellow pet parent friends about this location, Dr. Velez and Brenda. Read Less

I had some fairly positive experiences with Banfield until my last experience!  I was always annoyed with the fact that they were constantly trying to sell you on every single service or vaccine, but they seemed to give decent care.  Just a few days from vacation, I realized that my dog Dodger's Rabie's vaccine had "expired."  Frantically, I called to get in to get his vaccines updated so we could board him and have them look at a couple of other minor issues.  Long story short, they had screwed up when he got his first Rabie's shot the first time they saw him. Dodger was current on his Rabies and should have been good for 3 years on the first visit.  Instead, they showed it expired after 1 year, so I let them vaccinate him again a year later and thought his Rabies was past due the following year.  After reviewing his records and showing them, I argued that his Rabies was actually current, so his vaccine wasn't actually due and it should be good for another 3 years after that.  The tech wanted to continue to argue with me and say it's a computer problem - I don't care, fix it!  My dog has never flinched when getting his temp checked, and he whined and almost snapped at her because of her carelessness and coldness.  Once Dr Jacobs came in, she was very cold and short with me.  I'm quite sure she didn't even look in his ears during the exam.  I wanted her to also look at a cyst in his eye, and she never even shined a light into his eyes to examine it.  And the last concern was a fatty tumor on his chest.  Like many dogs, it's very common for labs to have fatty growth tumors that are benign.  So instead of telling me that this very common and nothing to worry unless it changes quickly, she said we can take a sample and test it.  I ended up spending $175 for nothing on this visit!  And once I finally spoke the manager a couple of days later, he said he could offer me another exam if I felt like the exam wasn't thorough.  How about refunding me the unnecessary vaccine the year before, and refunding my money for a visit that wasn't even necessary??  This review is long overdue, but my positive experience with my current vet inspired me to take the time to share my story at Banefield.  I will never recommend this Banfield to anyone!  Shawn B Read Less

Service was poor from the start. The vet Ferguson and the assistant didn't listen to anything that I said- I gave them the DOB of my puppy and showed them in the paperwork but they ignored that and they kept flipping the pages while ignoring me. They looked to be in a hurry and seemed to not care, I asked twice about the wellness plan conditions and if there was a specific timeframe that I have to be with them because I will travel in a couple of months. They didn't answer but focused on telling me how good their wellness plan was. I didn't get this information up until my dog received the shots and told me I had to be with them for a year. I wouldn't have taken the service if I knew this before. On top of that the vet had very poor bedside manner towards me and the pup, which I had only got 4 days before. She went on a rant pointing out that my puppy is aggressive and scolded me about it. She failed to listen that I just got him and he got his first training class presicely that day. I found much better options out there without committing to their plan and poor service. Read Less

I know that some people laugh at Banfield's because they are a part of petsmart but I cannot say enough about this particular banfield. About a year and a half ago our baby Murphy ate an entire bottle of Tylenol and when other pet ER's were turning him away Dr. Hand agreed to see him and saved his life. Murphy is a French bulldog and Dr. Hand has about a million (rough estimate) French Bulldogs so there is no one I trust more with our Frenchie. Furthermore, my partner and I went in today with our boy and our new adopted English bulldog and Dr. Torgersun took amazing care of them. She was incredibly in depth and patient with our stubborn Frenchie and took right to our English, Ruby. This Banfield  facility is not great for cats.  It is loud, noisy and constantly full of crying dogs.  Most of the vet techs do not seem to even like or know how to work with cats.  The veterinary care is sporadic and they don't appear to have reviewed the pet's health records prior to the visit.  They are constantly rotating vets so I never see the same person twice, and often I don't even get to talk to the doctor on duty.  The doctors are too busy to talk to me -- even though I am paying for their professional care.  My last visit they got so distracted that one of my senior cats didn't even get a full exam and the other cat was so angry he complained all the way home.  I have NEVER seen that cat so angry and upset, and we have been together over 10 years traveling the globe.  There is NO veterinary client relationship.  I feel this facility is all about profit and not about the care of the animal.  It is like a rotating animal meat market to see how many plans they can sell and animals they can quickly process through on a day.  I have been coming to this facility with both my furry boys for over two years since moving to Denver, because I do like the wellness plan.  I keep hoping it will get better, but no more, I am going elsewhere to have better healthcare for my cats.  If you read this please go somewhere else for your pet care, especially if you have a cat.  Denver is full of wonderful vets.  You don't have to put up with this horrible care. I appreciate the wellness plan service Banfield offers and have been using it for my three cats the past several months. (These are programs where the owner pays an automatic monthly fee for one of three different plans that can include vet visits, teeth cleanings, vaccinations, and discounts on additional services.) It is basically the only affordable long-term tooth cleaning solution I found for a cat with more advanced stages of decay, and the vets seem engaged, competent, and positive. However, I have repeatedly had billing issues: in at least four different instances, billing hasn't seemed clear or fair. For example, I had been told that there would be discounts for the one-time sign up fee with multiple pets, but when I was checking out I found they reduce every *other* pet, which is different than what I was led to believe. Or: I asked if it was possible to make sure all the pets were on the same billing cycle. The vet tech said it was possible and to set it up at check out, but check out told me this wasn't possible, and that was really to my advantage, because there would be a month that was a rip off to me if they bundled the dates after having started the pets at different times of the month. However, it turns out something in the system *had* been changed after all, and all the pets' monthly billing was moved to an ACH date I wasn't made aware of that wasn't on any of my paperwork and was a complete surprise that overdrafted my bank account the next month :-/ Read Less

Banfield was recommended to us by friends. For vaccines and general care it's been great. Unfortunately, we have been less than satisfied when it comes to our pup being Ill. Our puppy has been sick two different times. When I call for advice they always tell me I have to bring him in. Then tell me they have no openings. When I ask if I can get an appointment for the next day the answer is always no and they would prefer I get him in immediately. If you are going to tell me I have to bring my sick dog in so he can be treated, then get me in. I have called multiple locations and the response is always the same. Overall I have had positive experiences with all of the Banfield Hospitals. Staff and vets are nice and helpful. I've taken advantage of the plan when my dog threw her back out, had an infection on her face from a cut, and getting travel certs for when I fly with her. I've saved a lot of money. I also like how they call to let me know when my dog is due for shots or I am eligible for something on my wellness plan and I need to use it before I lose it for they year. My only complaint is the fine print with the wellness plan. I was always told x-rays are covered (up to so many a year). My dog needed an x-ray on her mouth to check a tooth and I was called to tell me that there would be a cost of $$$$ (can't remember how much). I said that I had the plan and x-rays are covered. The response was, only body x-rays are covered. The machine they use on teeth is different and not included. I objected and said that when speaking to vets about the plan the term used was "x-rays are covered" never "body x-rays". So if there was a difference then the staff needs to be more clear when speaking to their customers and to stop speaking so all encompassing. They waived the fee for me but they said they wouldn't be able to do it again in the future. So I'm happy they didn't object, but now in the future if she has a tooth problem again I will have to shell out some cash because it is not covered. Overall tho its a great place. Read Less

Our 2 dogs were on the wellness plan here for years. We brought in one of our dogs with a concern about his lack of appetite. We figured it was due to his declining liver but they would not do blood work because he "wasn't due for it on his plan". A few months later we ended up bringing him into the emergency vet and found out he is in total liver cirrhosis and will have to be euthanized. I called to cancel the wellness plan for both dogs and was told that I would be charged for another 2 months because the dog with liver cirrhosis had been in the office one time that year. The other dog had not used any services within the year and they would just stop the plan with no refund for having paid on the plan for 7 months of the year already. So we are left having to pay on the dog that we have to put down. Do not do the wellness plan- save your money and just go to a regular vet.Read Less

Dr. Reese Davis & Dr. Amy Keller (Westminster location) along with their wonderful staff provided me my first experiences with Banfield for my dog Lou. I had taken Lou to 2 other vets and was very unhappy with the care we received. I knew there was something more to Lou's behavior and Drs. Davis & Keller not only diagnosed him properly, but helped me understand all I could do to help Lou. Having moved to the downtown area, I had then gone to the Glendale location when Lou had gotten sick with Giardia from being boarded over a long weekend. I then had the pleasure of meeting Jessica Bradford and Dr. Jenna Torgerson. They too were beyond wonderful with Lou (and me with all the questions I had). I then had to make the hardest decision in my life since Lou was full of arthritis, in constant pain, and had sadly bitten people. Jessica had only met me once and talked to me for a very long time listening to all the information I had received in trying to do what was best for Lou. She listened with her whole heart and understood my heart. Dr. Torgerson and Jessica were there on the hardest day of my life as I put my sweet Lou down. They were angels to us that day and I will never forget their kindness, understanding, and love they showed to both my sweet boy and myself. Thank you to each and every one of you for all you did, making wonderful paw prints for me to keep always, explaining everything as many times as I needed it to be, your beautiful sympathy card that I will hold dear always, and always providing the most wonderful care to my Lou. I am so grateful my dear friend had told me about Banfield, the wonderful monthly preventive care plan that helped me financially so very much, and simply the kindness and knowledge you showed each and every time we visited or spoke over the phone. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Read Less

Read Less
