The exotic vets thay have on staff are extremely knowlageable and kind! Theyre very helpful and have better pricing. The vet I had (Dr. Katzenbach I think) was readily available to see my bearded dragon when needed (though the hours were specific)- which was amazing considering most exotic vets have bad hours or are expensive. We had an emergency with a guide dog trying to travel overseas. The original vet filled out the wrong paperwork. We called Mesa to see if they would be able to examine the dog and get the correct paperwork to the USDA for a same day flight. Kelsey and Dr. Nickerson went above and beyond to get us scheduled and get us the correct paperwork within a very limited amount of time! My dog has had a rough year.  Pancreatitis, tooth extractions, gallstones, hip pain....you name it and the poor old guy has probably suffered from it. I'm so pleased with the attentive care he has received at Mesa and trust them 100% with his health.  I never feel like they're recommending unnecessary tests or procedures just to get money out of me; it's pretty clear that it's all in the best interest of his health. I was desperate I called my vet with no answer they were closed. My cat of nearly 20 years took a turn for the worse in 2 days, I couldn't watch him suffer any more . I Googled vets near me, I called every vet recommended.  everyone was closing within the hour. The emergency Vet is so expensive and would not allow owners to be in the room for euthanasia. I called Mesa as a last resort because they only had 1 star on their review. I was sceptical with only 1 star I was afraid I made a mistake.  I was proved wrong.  I was only met by people with sincere care. I was beside myself in aw by the love and genuine  care by everyone in this office. I am forever grateful of this. It was fairly priced, clean and professional. Great care when there was something wrong. However, I constantly feel like i was being up-sold.  My dog always needs dental work, or blood work, or some other test.  A ton of preventative stuff.  Maybe my pets really need that, or maybe not.  I'm not sure. Read Less

I was very impressed with this veterinary hospital. I took two cats here for the very first time today. I had only had an appointment for one but asked about getting the second one in today & they were able to squeeze us in. The veternarian was very thorough and the prices were surprisingly lower than other vets I've taken my cats to in the past. Wonderful place! Just got a kitty from a local shelter and received a voucher for a free checkup. Arrived a few minutes before my appointment. Has separate doors for Dogs and Cats, very nice! Walked in, we were welcomed by name. And was almost immediately taken into an exam room. The nurse took a look and then the doctor arrived a couple minutes later. Extremely friendly and wonderful with my kitty. I was out the door 9 minutes after my appointment time, no more than 20 minutes total. Could not recommend this place more! Read Less

The vets and technicians at Mesa are all SO wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!! I brought my 13 yr old, fairly sick dog down to Colorado from Vancouver 3 years ago, thinking she wouldn't live much longer (especially since she already had a heart problem and I was moving to a much higher elevation). Dr. Tousley kept her not only alive, but happy and healthy for another 3 wonderful years! She loved going to the vet and they always sorted out what was wrong with her, despite being an extremely complicated dog with 3 or 4 recurring health problems. She also saw Dr. Bub and Dr. Nickerson at times, both of whom were great as well. When it finally came time for her to be put down, we saw Dr. Batch for the first time. He was gentle, kind, professional, and said all the right things. He even made imprints of her paw prints in clay for us to keep, and sent her off to be cremated for us. If you are looking for a good vet, look no further. In almost 16 years, these are the best vets my dog ever had! I'll be grateful for this place forever. Read Less

I cannot say enough good things about this veterinary practice. From the veterinarians to their support staff, the atmosphere is always professional and focused. The first time our little dog Coconut was seen at this practice she was critically ill. They stabilized her, made sure she was comfortable and were incredible in their interaction with our family. Thanks to the amazing professionals at Mesa Veterinary Hospital, we were able to enjoy our Coconut for an additional year. When it was time to finally let her go, Dr. Batch made this very painful time bearable. He was professional, compassionate and truly kind to Coconut and our family. In a nutshell, we were needing to find a vet closer to our house.  I found Mesa through Yelp and was immediately impressed with their page and responses to reviews.  When I walked in, the clinic was clean and the employees were friendly.Our cat, Eddie, one of five animals, needed some vaccine updates.  With that many animals who are like our children, it is important for us to connect with our vet and make sure we approach our pets health care on the same page.  Plus we have pets with interesting health issues that include lupus, IBS, allergies, a cat on Prozac, etc., so we have kept previous vets on their toes.  When I met the tech and then Dr. Bub, I was very impressed with both.  I told them I was essentially interviewing them and asked about their general approach to care.  Dr. Bub was thoughtful, considerate and took time talking to me.  Overall, I feel like he will give our pets and us great care.  I also appreciated that the tech took care of the payment in the room so that we didn't have to wait at a front desk with other animals coming and going.  Cats don't really enjoy leaving the house so it was nice to keep Eddie's stress levels as low as possible.As another nice touch, we got a follow up call the day after his appointment to check on how he was doing from his vaccines and a card in the mail from Dr. Bub welcoming us to the clinic with a personal note about Eddie. I am very upset with the way I was treated at this business. Mainly the whole principal of the matter , they would not help my extremely sick kitty with out being prepaid, I understand, they have a business to run. After scrapping up & borrowing enough money for my side kick of 12 yrs, whom needed a blood transfusion, they finally kept her overnight, I arrived the next day to see if she was responding to the transfusion I was then given the option to take her home knowing she needed more treatment or cough up some more cash..I asked the receptionist exactly what any final charges had arose, I was told $ 130 dollars, labs, tests, treatments, X-ray those had all been prepaid. I paid $30 and had $100 to pay still, took my kitty home and had one last night by her side before she grew very sick again the next day. She left me 11/11/11...Rip Peeks..so I returned about a month later to pay the remaining amount due.. to my surprise it quadrupled to a staggering near $500 dollars!! I needed an explaination for these charges, instead I was told three different things and given the run around...very disturbing and what a horrible manner to run a business! I will not pay them one more cent until they can tell me why I owe the same amount I had already prepaid them before they even began to help my kitty...I am currently fighting with a collections company 4 years later...they should be ashamed of the poor quality of customer care they displayed towards me, all cuz I'm not loaded and sure as heck not going to give them money for services never rendered! Pain in my rear, but for my kitty to be here today, I would have sold my left arm! Read Less

I give them no stars only because they did not know what they were doing when it came to our bulldog and they were going to let him die. They sedated him to take x-rays and did not ask if he had eaten which he had so he choked under sedation and the Dr told me he needed an emergency trachiotomy. He was gasping for air for two hours so they stuck and English bulldog in an oxygen box at 78 degrees. He got a an abscess around his neck the size of a softball from re using the same hypodermic needle from several injections which some how got E coli. My dog is at another hospital at the moment because of them. Bad experience all around here. I would hope no on else has to ever go through this. And I went to them because I yelped them and they had 4 stars. Read Less

We adopted our dog, Max, in March of this year. Mesa offered a free exam with the adoption from Foothills Animal Shelter. During all of our visits, we saw Dr. Bub. There was very little waiting, from the moment we walked in the door, shown the exam room, and dealing with testing (which you can't help but to wait). Max had an issue with one of his eyes on that initial visit. We got the treatment for it and were on our way. Fast forward a few months, and Max's eye turned cloudy and then got bloodshot. Dr. Bub looked at his eye, and referred us to a veterinary ophthalmologist for a specialized opinion. In short, the second vet thought Max's eye should be removed. Mesa came back with an estimate very quickly, and were able to fit us in for surgery on the next day. The surgery went well. Max was having some anxiety, so they kept him overnight for monitoring and charged the boarding fee (versus an outrageous monitoring fee I know another veterinary hospital would use), which was reasonable. We picked him up with his meds the next day.I just had to call to get a refill for some of his meds (pain stuff) and there was no hassle in getting that taken care of, which I really appreciated. Max will be seeing more of Dr. Bub and the fantastic staff at this location to keep a close eye on his other eye. My cats will also come here when they are due for their shots. Read Less
