I found Dr. Powell on an emergency and I am so glad I did! I have a happy, healthy dog today because of Dr. Powell's knowledge and dedication. He was honest and talked through all the options with us. Then we embarked on a treatment plan. Doc called to check in on a regular basis and even made himself available on a holiday to fix a cast that my dog had broke. I can't speak highly enough of his dedication and love for his four legged patients. He considers each patient an individual and makes suggestions based on that. Took my cat in bc he had a cut, needed cleaning and a stitch job, the doc called it non life threatening. They put him under and he never woke back up. This was not his first time going under with this vet. Doc said he didn't know why, maybe he had an injury he didn't see (you could see into his body cavity bc of where the cut was.) He never bled, he had the cut all night until we took him in (doc's decision) where he kneed and purred on my chest all night until I put him to bed. When my husband and I picked him up the next day and he gave us the bill he said to my husband that they had done CPR for 20 minutes but didn't charge us for that and offered to do a autopsy. When he called to tell me he said "we lost Doug today." His name was Dougal. Read Less

Been using Powell Veterinary since I moved to the area in 2008 and I will wait until they return from world travels if possible so I won't have to take my pets to anyone else. Not many would let you take two hours of their personal time to come to terms with having a loving pet we thought we would get several more years out of needing to be let go to end his suffering. Our female pittbull was very sick. Could not eat or drink. Dr. Powell saw her right away concerned for our pets well being. He actually took her into his own home for a better assessment. He determined a blockage, removed the chew toy, and six inches of intestine because of the damage and to ensure a better recovery. He called us daily with updates on her recovery, and even saw her on his day off. I found Dr. Powell genuine, compassionate and an amazing Vet! Hera is alive today because of him. Dr. Powell has taken care of my Bichons for 14 years, and is now caring for our 2nd generation of Bichons. He has rebuilt 5 knees on 3 of our little fur babies. Plus several surgeries to remove lumps and bumps and even one cancer. He continues to provide excellent care for them. Dr. Powell made 2 house calls to attend to our large pet family. He was AWESOME! We got our dogs and cats up to date on all shots and medications, and we discovered our oldest cat (18+) needed some dental work, so we brought him in for surgery. Through it all, Dr. Powell took EXCELLENT care of our "babies" and made diet recommendations for our eldest cat that will probably add another 2 years to his quality of life! This guy ROCKS! He is an extraordinary vet, as well as awesome with the animals. Hands down, the BEST experience I have ever had with a Vet (and we have had animals for 30+ years!). Cant say enough about the care Dr.Powell and Sherrie have given and do give to our furrie family members. Nothing but great care and love of what they do shows with our pets.
