I doubt I will take my pup anywhere else besides VCA Lafayette. The level of service and care I have received for Akela has been unmatchable. Lauren Geiger is nothing less than amazing! She can work with my sometimes difficult pup and my bombardment of questions and concerns. The entire staff makes my dog and I feel welcome, almost as if we are family! We had a terrible experience here. They appear to be focused on making as much money as possible. Our visit took two hours, they injured my cat, charged me above and beyond for the injuries they caused him ($500), wound care, and antibiotics, and at the end of the day, he was dying. I asked point-blank if interventions were useful since he appeared to be dying and they suggested I spend $1500 in an ultrasound. With very little compassion, they let me know that I could take as long as I wanted to pay for the costs of that. Awful. They'll get you in, but they'll treat you terribly. Go anywhere else. And in any other vet waiting room, you'll hear poor reviews of this place. Read Less

I purchased a Aussie mix from a puppy rescue in 11/2013. Unfortunately, he had distemper, and Dr. Sunshine tried to 1) save his life 2) improve his quality of life. Dr. S called around Colo asking for assistance; but finally little Ozzie had to be put down. The compassion of the staff and Dr. S was amazing. They were kind to me and my family as we went through this. We spent a ton of money trying to save him, but not once did I think the costs were unreasonable or excessive. This was the first time my dog had gone to this vet, so I didn't have to pay the initial office visit. But even with that out of the way, the bill was $400!!! And all they did was take 1 xray, check her out and give her an antibiotic and some benedryl. I could have gotten her entire mouth full of teeth cleaned for what this cost! Now I find out that she has what is known as a "rats tail" as she has no hair on it (and I thought it was from a biopsy, but I was assured that they only take a tiny bit of hair), and almost her entire back is pretty bald. I was told by a vet and a vet tech that this is a CLASSIC sign of hypothyroidism, and not once did they say anything about it at this clinic so now I have to find another vet and pay for the entire thing all over again, and I'm on a VERY LIMITED income. Incidently, the medication did NOT work and she has been coughing for about 2 months now. But I can't take her back there, I need to eat this month! It's not all about the money, I want the absolute best care for my pet, but if you can't afford it, then MANY vets will help you out. But that being said, I didn't expect that, NOR did I expect a bill that high. I have never paid that much for an office visit and a general check, even with an xray. On the worst day of her life, Dr. Sunshine treated my cat with total disregard for her well being and comfort. I felt she was a science project to him. I've been with All Pets Clinic in Lafayette for 28 years, so I don't post this complaint lightly. I will find a vet who is not only good with the analytical part of my animals health, but also has the empathy required to truly care for them. Misdiagnosed my dog with a tooth infection and scheduled surgery to remove both K-9 teeth. I had gotten two other opinions and it turned out my 9 year old Gold Retriver had brain cancer after having a scope. The vet was also very aggressive, smart on some things but also a bit RUDE I felt! Stuck with a bill now for nothing but that's not the issue just a terrible place to take your pet. The staff at the front desk is great and friendly and that's the only good thing about this veterinary clinic. My best friend is now going to be put down this week. I can't imagine the pain he would've been through on top of having brain cancer had they removed his K-9 teeth too. Go to CSU in Fort Collins or even the humane society in Boulder. Great experience, no rush and no wait. My previous vet would leave me in the exam room for hours (no exaggeration) and it happened multiple times. The first free exam is awesome and the treatment is thorough. I don't typically write a lot of reviews, but I had such a great experience with Dr. Esh and their crew I had to share something good! Your pet is always there for you no matter what. Good and bad days alike. We tell them our secrets and everything else. I honestly loved my visit with Dr.Sunshine. He was understanding and pleasant. Dr. Sunshine is my favorite vet I have ever been to. He checks everything completely and makes sure that ur pet is truly ok, he isnt all about the money and getting you to do all the expensive tests. My dog was hit, and I had took him to another vet first it was Sunday, and they wanted me to do 700$ worth of tests and wouldnt tell me anything to the extent of his him being out of place, when I came to Dr. Sunshine he made sure my dog was ok, and answered all my questions without have to do all the expensive tests as far as I am conserned I will be going nowhere else to get my dogs checked out.Read Less
