My dog broke two of his rear claws early this a.m. He was bleeding and in a lot of pain. Our regular vet is closed Monday, but Kipling Vet is open at 7 a.m. They got us in by 9, I'm sitting here as I write this. Everyone has been great and my big buddy is getting fixed up as we speak. Looking at these other bad reviews I'm wondering if maybe they had a bad receptionist here at one point or are maybe being confused for another vet. Amy at the front desk and Dr. Jill are as good as it gets, without a doubt. Actually ended up calling initially based on the referral of our neighbors. Read Less

I have been bringing my pets to Kipling Vet Hospital for over 15 years.  When I first started using them they were a great place to bring the pets.  A little pricey but they did a great job.  The past few years have just become too expensive and unavailable.  If you need to bring your pet in today, expect to need to use their emergency service (with the cost involved).  Once in, it will take forever for anyone to get to you.  Suddenly they are pushing every possible test and trying to up-sell all tests and treatments.  They will never make a decision based on medical history, everything requires a test of some kind, usually with a recommendation for a more expensive test and more tests on top of it.  Your pet can have the same chronic condition 100x in a row (with zero variation) but they will still force you to pay for some test to verify that it is the same condition on number 101.  Expect to pay 2x more for treatments here than other vets and that is if you say "no" to some of their up-selling.  When was the last time a pet bladder infection cost you $400+ at the vet? I'm sad to write this, but my family has been loyal customers for over 35 years (our 2 dogs that lived LONG lives and now my dog). I drive almost 45 minutes to get here but recently I've been getting a very unwelcome vibe. I had an appointment 2 weeks ago that was cancelled 20 minutes before it was supposed to happen (complications in surgery and the Dr. couldn't make our appointment). I get it, things happen, but I tried to reschedule for the afternoon since I already drove across town and I was advised to find a vet closer to my house. (Ouch!) I understand their concern, but I've always drove to vets I love. It's worth it. So sad that there wasn't a personal touch. I went in for the makeup appointment and I was the first to arrive, followed shortly by another family with 2 dogs. The receptionist (Andrea?) walked out and immediately started helping the other family, totally ignoring me. Didn't ask who was first or address me or say she would be right with me. I got a follow up phone call to see how my dog was after her shots and after the message, I heard, "PERFECT" in the background before the receptionist hung up. They must be hiring and training new people. I'm still debating whether I'll give it another try, but I'm incredibly discouraged right now. BTW, Elaine is the BEST! If it weren't for her personal touch, I definitely would have left already. She's a sweetie and definitely loves the pets like they were her own. She also cares about our family personally. Read Less

We are so grateful we found Kipling Veterinary Hospital.  We are new to the area and frantically called in last minute with a sick pup.  From the start, the receptionist was concerned, caring, and helpful--which was a relief after some of the other places we called.  Even though it was almost closing time, we received amazing care from everyone involved--Dr. O'connell, her Vet Tech, and intern were all wonderful. Even though we didn't walk out until an hour after the office closed, we never felt rushed.  They answered all of our questions and calmed our nerves.  We were greatly comforted by their concern and care for Lady.  We would highly recommend Kipling Vet Hospital to anyone!  Thanks so much! We recently moved to Lakewood and searched reviews for local vet clinics to take our dogs to. This place had excellent reviews, so we booked an appointment to get rabies and distemper boosters, a heart-worm test, new heart-worm medication, and Jefferson County tags for our two dogs. We waited almost 20 minutes after arrival for the receptionist to get off the phone before being acknowledged, even though we were the first customers of the day. Then, after we met with the vet, she did a sub par examination of the dogs (which we did not request), and missed noticeable lumps on one our Staffordshire Terrier's side. She also did not check out my German Shepherd's mammary glands (which were swollen as we pointed out) but insisted that it was normal without even looking at the area. When it was all said and done, we were charged $515 for this routine visit!! Rather than giving us the 5 in 1 booster that we had asked for, the vet administered two different shots to each dog and charged $40 per shot. We were shocked to pay that much for vaccinations. Further, now my dog has an abscess developing from where the rabies vaccine was administered since this vaccination was different from what we requested. This place has a nice location, but expect to pay double what you would elsewhere!! Read Less
