This place is wonderful. Yesterday our puppy had an allergic reaction to a bug bite and her entire face was swollen like crazy! We brought her in and they took care of her immediately and knew exactly what to do. Because if their quick thinking and actions, the swelling went down rapidly, saving her life, and we got to wake up to another morning of her snuggles. We would not trust anyone else with our pets! We drive 45 minutes to continue with the loving care our pets receive! We can't say enough wonderful things about the entire staff; words can't describe our appreciation for how they've saved our dogs! I’ve taken my two dogs here for three years and it started off great. But I recently scheduled a teeth cleaning for one dog and a senior exam for the other on the same day. The appointments were scheduled weeks in advance and I spoke two 4 people at the hospital to clarify everything that needed to occur in advance. The vet tech continually confused one dog for the other when the the chart clearly stated which dog was scheduled. Then after scheduling a teeth cleaning two weeks out, when I showed up to drop my dog off, I was told the the vet needed to do a senior Wellness exam and that I would need to schedule two more appointments on different days for blood work and then the teeth cleaning. My Bully would have never made it as long as she did without them. Dr Sylvester was her vet from the time we brought her home. He was always so good with her and explained everything through her life very thoroughly. He is an amazing doctor and I will always recommend him highly to anyone looking for a vet. My wife and I are from Arkansas in Denver for a few weeks. We brought both of our Coker's with us. The male, Cocoa, has a huge knot come up on his left inside knee. We called Lakewood Veterinary Hospital and they got us in a few hours later. They really took their time and explained everything very well. I have always had a great experience with Lakewood Veterinary Hospital. I have been bringing Meaty, my bulldog here since I got her in October of 2010 and Blue since December of 2010. This is an awesome vet clinic! The staff is always extremely friendly and knowledgeable, short wait times, and pretty decent prices. All the vets that we have met have been great and very affectionate and calm with our pets. They saved my cats life when he was on deaths doorstep and needed a major surgery.Read Less

Feel like the vet is often rude to us and we have to pry information out of them... Like what size food portion to give our pets (they switched the food but never told us a portion and then were mad we were doing it wrong apparently). This place isn't cheap either.Read Less

When I moved back to Lakewood 12 years ago, I immediately called a long time friend who adores dogs . . . especially her own. I knew she would be going to a great vet and I wanted the best for my cats. She sent me to Dr. Sylwester at Lakewood Veterinary Hospital. Everyone there is so pleasant, kind and patient. You can tell that they really love the animals they're treating, even my cat Kenzie, who can be a pill sometimes. Dr. Sylwester is a great vet and very compassionate when the prognosis isn't great. I have taking my dogs here twice now for two different surgeries. The surgery went great...BUT the healing was unbearable. Where they shaved them to perform the surgery was so razor burned it was literally just a open wound all around where the incisions were. These open wounds are so painful even more painful then where the surgery is. I called the office to tell them and they said "ok we will put these notes in our system" wow like that helps!!! Very expensive and they are always trying to upsell you to buy more testing. My dog had a goot cut on her leg this morning and I took her in. They told me it would be between $450-$700. The cut was just through the skin, no deep structures were involved. I am a human FP doctor and if I ever charged that kind of money for some stitches I would never hear the end of it, and rightly so. The itemized bill had $25 for lidocaine, lidocaine is $2 a bottle and you would never inject a whole bottle. This place is trying to raid your wallet and I will never go back. Dr. Sylvestor is a caring vet and the office personal have been friendly to me and caring, but this highway robbery is ridulous and I will find cheaper care elsewhere. How can anyone struggling to make ends meet pay this kind of money?Read Less

We came across them on accident when our boxer was stung by a bee and they talked us through a crisis. Now we've taken our other boxer there for arthritis issues and teeth problems our other vet left behind. I really trust this place and look forward to taking all of our pets there for years to come! My boyfriend and I had our dogs over at a pet sitters house over Thanksgiving weekend and realized that Sunday that one of our pups had a REALLY bad ear infection (not the pet sitters fault of course, it just happens). We took her in to see Dr. Sylvester the next day and were blown away with the amazing treatment we received. He gave us easy/cheap home remedies to use for prevention in the future and didn't charge us a ridiculous amount for the medication which is what we were expecting given our past veterinary history with our two dogs. He's all about avoiding pricey unnecessary medications and clearly truly loves taking care of animals. This type of business operation is rare, and we're so glad we found them! We realized they were both due for shots so we made another appointment for Saturday (this last weekend). What an amazing decision that was. When the veterinary assistant brought us to the room she really cared about our fur babies and that really meant a lot to us. She asked great questions and had really awesome helpful advice. The vet came in shortly after and spent a few minutes making our pup comfortable with him and genuinely cared about our animals. He got down to their eye level and played with them, something we've never experienced before but we are so appreciative of. As they received their shots he volunteered the science behind each medication, what they do and how they came about. He then went on to tell us about some of the care differences we should be aware of (we just moved here from Texas). We're so lucky to have found this veterinary hospital. It was a fabulous experience and any animal lover should feel as appreciated as we did so I hope you read this and give them a call. Their front staff is so bubbly and engaging.
