Took my 2 puppies in for second round of shots, three days later they were puking and barely would move needed to be forced water to prevent dehydration for almost 24 hours.  When they started puking called vet when they opened and told them were sick from shots, person on phone said that was impossible since it was 3 days later and told me to take them to Aspen meadows the $2000/ day emergency clinic since they were too busy to see them.  I told them there were countless similar occurrences online of puppies getting the same symptoms and dying but they told me I was wrong, I said I read if puppies were sick from shots they could be given benadryl to prevent them from dying, phone person agreed and asked if I wanted to transferred to vet tech to know dosage.  I said I already got the information online and they hung up.  The vet gave them parvo/distemper and lepto without evening mentioning side effects, probably so they can milk you for money when the sogs get sick ..turns out the leptospirosis shots they gave the puppies gave them a bacterial infection and most vets won't even touch this vaccine, only desperate money minded clinics trying to nickel and dime you.  My puppies got better after about 2 days but still have diarrhea 3 weeks later and I also have caught the bacteria infection from them...  It's pathetic this vet gave shots that almost killed my dogs and didn't even care enough to see them when they almost died, very pathetic after I spent almost $500 for $100 worth of shots.  I would avoid this place like the plague and won't be surprised when horrible things happen or it gets shut down very soon...becareful and don't let this "vet" kill your puppy with their deadly vaccines. Not every vet in this clinic is bad. We have had excellent experiences with Dr. Conrad. Unfortunately, this practice is owned by a Dr. Meyer. She has the most horrifying bedside manner I have ever experienced. I took my elderly dog in to have a few lumps and bumps looked at, I was doing my best to stay positive, as he is my first born. I told her that I was worried, and I said in passing, "but I'm sure it's nothing". She replied, "what makes you think that?" in a really demeaning tone.HE IS MY BABY AND I AM NOT TRYING TO PROJECT THAT NEGATIVE BS ONTO THE SITUATION.As it turned out, he did have one abscess with abnormal cells. She did not get all of the margins of the lesion, and we will likely have to repeat the $1300 surgery. I was upset about the entire experience, and called and asked to speak to the office manager. I was unaware of this time she owns the practice. Instead of being put in touch with the office manager, I was put back in touch with her. When I was finally able to talk to the office manager, I told him exactly what my experience was, and how I felt that it was highly irresponsible and unprofessional. He offered many excuses for his boss, but no apologies. She made no effort whatsoever to try and earn back our trust or business. I have started taking the dogs to the clinic at the Longmont Humane Society. I spent $200 on a visit which probably would've cost me $1200 at Longs Peak. After spending nearly $10,000 with this practice over the last three years, there are no words to describe my disappointment. Longs Peak is an outstanding vet clinic. My wife and I have consistently had excellent, thorough service there and have recommended them to our friends in the area. On our last visit, we had to get XRays for our lab and, after they were complete, Dr. Conrad brought his laptop into the waiting room and showed us the XRays, zooming in on parts of the picture and explaining why he was making his decisions in his diagnosis. We never feel pressured to do anything there, but rather, we feel very informed about what we decide to do/spend. Read Less

I took my cat to this hospital on a Saturday. He had a bite of some kind on his leg. They felt confident that the leg could be saved. On Sunday evening my husband (having two parents who are doctors) asked that they remove the leg because his condition was getting worse by the hour and he was in intense pain. We were assured that they could save the leg and wanted to give it a few more days. On Monday, the skin and muscle turned black down to the bone and his leg literally exploded with blood and pus when I had to move him. It was heartbreaking to see him in so much pain.On Tuesday, they told us that the leg was not getting better and finally recommended surgery the next morning. They kept him over night to get him prepped for surgery first thing the next morning. I was given an insanly expensive quote for the surgery and post and pre op care. We had also experienced (as other reviewers have said) that they were always well above their quotes by at least 30%. I called the Humane Society in Boulder (where I volunteer) and to my relief they said that they had time that day to remove his leg for literally a fraction of the cost.  However, when my husband called the next morning to tell Dr. Joseph that we were going to take him to the Humane Society he said it was not at all a good idea to move him because overnight he become too unstable for surgery. They wanted to keep him at the hospital until Monday and then see if he was stable enough for the surgery. We were told that we had to pay upfront for the surgery plus the seven day hospital stay, which would be between $5,200 - $6,500. The is not including what we had already spent up to that point.  Bottom line, in my experience, they are all about money, give bad diagnosis, have horrible communication with each other (you'll rarely see the same doctor twice), and have no bedside manner whatsoever. I will start by saying this is my first Yelp review. I use Yelp often but never bothered to do any reviews. That being said, I'm doing this review to express my overwhelming frustration and overall disappointment of this vet clinic.I took my dog here after she lacerated her paw. I spent nearly $1,000 on stitches, staples and surgeries and 6 weeks later my dog was never healed. The part of this story that irritates the most is that I was told she was healed/healing- this never happened. Unprofessional and inconsistent service. I saw a different vet at each visit and it seemed as though they never had any handover or communication amongst themselves about my dog.Long story short, I don't recommend this vet. I understand that vet clinics are businesses and need to make profits to succeed. However, it's quite apparent that they are more concerned with making money than providing quality service and care. I gave them the opportunity to make this right, and they refused. Read Less

Dr. Russell is the most AMAZING VET I have ever met. I have an old 12 year old dog who has been having some issues lately. She recommended appropriate X-rays and an Ultrasound to really see what was going on. What we discovered is that there would be nothing else we could do except pain management. My dog has gotten back a "pep back in his step!" The reason I'm taking the time to write this review is because Dr. Russell didn't just prescribe a month's worth of pills and move on. She literally has checked in on my dog and family every two weeks to see how things are going. She is thorough in her explanations and also is making sure I have realistic expectations. One day we will have another puppy I'm sure, and we will 100% be going back to Longs Peak Animal Hospital and keeping Dr. Russell watching over our next family member! Read Less

I took my dog to Longspeak Animal Hospital and after the Dr checked him over they presented me with a bill for over $131.00 although they originally told me around $40.00. It so hppened I needed to take him back a second time and Dr. Davison told me the cost for that visit would be $27.00. I repeated back to her the $27.00-$29.00 and no more, she said oh yes it will most likely be $27.00. When I went to pay my bill I was presented with a bill for $42.00. I will never take my pet back there again. I would rather drive to another city than to go back there. I am not sure what happened within the office, but all the employees quit in one day. Everyone who knew me, who loved my dog and cared for her for years was gone. The new manager and employees were distant, not friendly and I had to remind them every time I dropped off my dog who I was and who my dog was. Switched over to this vet about a year ago and so far so good. Their working hours are simply amazing and one of the main reasons I selected them plus a couple of recommendations from friends. Being able to make appointments on the weekends is great for working parents who simply dont have the time on the weekdays. FYI; I did find the other review referencing the rattle snake bite interesting as I had an appointment during the same event at 4pm. They asked me if I would rather reschedule or wait, so I waited about 20 minutes before seeing the vet and went on about my day. I was actually impressed by them pushing normal nonemergency appointments off to give the dog their full attention and staff, its what I would have wanted if it were my dog. Read Less

Debra Davison is a horrible vet. Do not let this woman treat your pets. She almost killed mine by rushing into a diagnosis which was incorrect. We took our dog in as he had been sick (vomiting, no appetite, lethargic, etc) for a few weeks. The hospital took four x-rays - none of which showed anything unusual or abnormal. However, Davison became convinced, despite no actual proof, that my dog had some type of obstruction in the stomach or intestines. Instead of taking time to run all appropriate tests and consider all options, she practically forced us into a $3500 exploratory surgery. I even asked her if there were any other options or tests we could do before surgery and the only things she came up with was either an ultrasound or a barium contrast x-ray - both costing over $500 and according to her, not very reliable. No once did it ever occur to her to mention a quick, painless, and inexpensive blood panel. Only by sheer luck did she run a blood test before starting the surgery, then informed me, "It's a good thing I did the blood panel first, if I would have put him under anesthesia, he probably would have died." She admitted to my face that she almost killed him out of negligence and impatience, and made it sound like she was some sort of hero for saving his life. Even if he had survived, it would have cost us the $3500, plus he would have still been sick! I don't trust this woman, her judgment, or her ability to safely practice pet medicine. Beware! Read Less

I will say, I trust Dr Meyer with the big things. I also love Dr Mones. Dr Wunder is fine, but I don't recommend Dr Davison nearly as much. Maybe just a personal preference. Yes, as with a lot of vet offices, the people who answer the phone could take some lessons on being more kind and less rude. Some of them are great but there are a couple that just make me want to hang up and never call back. They are expensive - especially their spays and neuters- they are outrageously priced. But again, I trust them way more than a spay/neuter clinic or something like that. I have had a pretty serious mis-diagnosis and almost spent over $500 to have an exploratory surgery, that when taken to another vet for a 2nd opinion, was discovered the true issue and was cleared up with less than $90.... That is one time I have had that happen though. They can be a little pushy on certain things that are optional too. And I don't understand how any vet recommends Science Diet food. That is such a horrible food. I had to have my best friend put to sleep there. One of the worst days ever. And the staff and Drs (Both the one who made the original diagnosis which was basically his death sentence, and the one who administered the final needle) were so kind and understanding. They gave us the time we needed with our boy and did not rush us. They gave us his paw prints, and were not rude or un-thoughtful about asking for money as we came out of the room. I expected them to be and braced myself but they were all very kind. They sent us a card as well. So I end with, yes they are expensive and I don't agree with everything they promote, but I trust them with diagnosing my pets and recommend them on every other level. Read Less

As a former employee this may be a tad biased. Dr. Laura Myer owns and runs the place. I respect her intelligence and due diligence and have seen not only her but other doctors stay over night to watch over very ill animals to monitor them through the night. They pull out mats and sleep on the floor right next to some of the animals. To me this is rather impressive. Don't expect them to do it with your pet, but I give them credit when they do choose to stay. Dr. Myer can also be abrasive and sometimes does not come off as the most compassionate person - she tries. If you are NOT caught up in bedside manners then I would recommend her. The rest of the doctors are equally great and are just as affected by a death as you are, they just try not to show it. They aren't there to run up your bill just because they feel like it. If your pet needs antibiotics they need to know which one to prescribe and why. They have to do lab tests and no you don't always get your results the same day. When you take in your pet for euthanasia please know that the receptionists and everyone else are also terribly sorry for the decisions that have to be made. Everyone has cried there. Please, please do not drop off your pet and leave for someone else to be there next to your pet. Your pet has been there for you for their life, you owe it to your pet to be there for them. If you can, the last I knew, LPAH will still come out to your home (for a nominal travel fee) and do the procedure there. In my opinion, this is the least stressful place to perform the procedure for your pet. Your pet is in a familiar place and is not overwhelemed with thousands of other scents and barking dogs, etc.Overall the staff is great there and they really do have your pet's best interest at heart. Be aware that the prices for your pet's medications really are not negotiable and please don't take your frustrations out on the staff. People who work in animal related industries are there because they love animals too. If you are turned away during an emergency it is truly because there is not enough staff on hand to properly watch and monitor your pet. If you are instructed to go to an emergency facility then do so. Your pet's life is in your hands. Read Less

I feel like they are in the practice all for the money not so much because they care for the animals. After reading some of the other reviews I thank God that my dog wasn't sicker than he was. Sadly, I debated on giving the daycare just one star. My dog went there for over 4 1/2 years and loved it. Well until the last couple of months. I am not sure what happened within the office, but all the employees quit in one day. Everyone who knew me, who loved my dog and cared for her for years was gone. The new manager and employees were distant, not friendly and I had to remind them every time I dropped off my dog who I was and who my dog was. My dog was actually more excited to leave at the end of the day than she was to go. As someone who spent a lot of money there, I decided that money would be well spent elsewhere.

Read Less
