Vets that truly care about the animals they care for. I have not lived in Longmont for a long time but I will always bring my pets back here.

Whether it's basic check ups and shots or oddities like "dead tail". Every visit has been great and my fur-baby never fights the visit.

While realizing that this clinic was not an emergency clinic, after having my dog run over by an ATV and this being the nearest vet at the time, I had no other choice. I rushed into the clinic with my dog, informed the secretary at the desk of what had happened as coherently as I could. She sauntered to the back, was gone for nearly 5 minutes, and returned only to inform me that none of the vets could see me or reschedule any of their appointments. I was absolutely stunned! I was sent to Aspen Meadows, 10 minutes away without traffic where I was completely taken advantage of. I will never ever take a pet, emergency or routine to Nelson Road Veterinary Clinic! I cannot believe that no one came to look at my dog. I am still in shock. Read Less

This team was incredibly caring, very responsive, and got us in when we had an emergency with a lamb we adopted (that was rejected by its mother, we were bottle feeding it, it contracted pneumonia). I was truly confounded by the medications and instructions with which we left the office. We had a huge sheet of instructions for many different ailments and equipment we didn't need. The vet was hurried. But we sorted everything out by the time we got home (with help from my physician husband). This clinic was unbelievably kind and caring. I believe this is a good veterinarian with sub-perfect communication skills. I recommend them, and hope these comments make up for some of the rather scathingly hostile comments. Bottom line: GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD CARE. Hope you're well. A A Harker Read Less

I am in LOVE with this vet. I have been to many and none compare. Dr. Benscheidt was a saint and his care for my beloved Cinnabun was only matched by my own. He accurately diagnosed the illness and prescribed a medication that worked well. Later in the night after my appointment my pet took a turn for the worse (she was deathly ill to begin with) I was able to get in touch with Dr. Benscheidt almost immediately (keep in mind it was 9:45 pm). He offered sound advise that saved my pets life, even offering to open up the office and to see her again. As if that was not enough he called me first thing in the morning to check on her. I am floored with this vet and would advise ANYONE who loves their pet to use this vet.Read Less

Today we brought in a beautiful and healthy 8 month old male puppy for a routine neutering. He was dead before the actual surgery began. There was an horrific problem with the administering of the medications. We certainly question the competency of the vet to say the very least. We were equally devastated by the way we were treated with none of the vets available to offer either condolences or explanations. We are in total shock, mourning, and dismay. We are posting this so other pet lovers will hopefully never have to endure the experience that we did and hopefully very carefully research their vet before they entrust their beloved pet to their care. Dr Benscheidt had recently done pre-purchase exams on two horses I was selling, and while it isn't typical for the seller to participate I appreciated the feedback I got both from him as he was leaving and from the buyers about how the appointments went.  He seems to take his time and do a very thorough pre-purchase exam but also didn't suggest anything unnecessary.  For example, I was selling a companion-only horse to complete novices, and many vets would have suggested a thorough lameness exam even though the horse was being sold as unrideable.  It doesn't matter if he has mild arthritis when he has neurological issues that mean he can never be worked anyway!I like my current equine vets (worked in large animal toxicology for a while, made good connections) but if I was looking for a new one, I would consider him and I do recommend him as a livestock vet to friends and neighbors!  He has a calm demeanor and seems very comfortable with livestock and people. When one of my hens suddenly had neurological symptoms I brought her in to Dr Benscheidt and he was VERY kind, understanding, and helpful.  Again, he didn't push tests that cost more than my hen was "worth" since I had said up-front she wasn't a pet and my priority was the overall health of our flock.  He taught me a useful new technique and sent me home with antibiotics and lots of literature on how/when to use it.My only potentially negative comment is that he LOVES his handouts, and even when I wasn't the client (acting as seller) he left me with novellas.  At first I was annoyed by them, since most contained what I consider very basic information and I just recycled them all.  However, when I was selling this second horse I was grateful he had good literature for the buyers (they still e-mail me daily with questions as it is), and I am not very knowledgable about poultry vet care and appreciated the resources for my hens. Love this place! Dr. Wilson has been great with our 2 dogs. Very good bedside manner, and cares very much about the dogs. When our dogs have been sick she calls and checks on them and to see if I have any questions. I also can just call and talk to her when I have questions and sometimes she can recommend things over the phone instead of making me coming up for something small. I never feel rushed. Although because people aren't rushed, if you have an appointment later in the day they will be behind schedule by 20 min.. the reception is nice too.Read Less

We drive all the way to Longmont to take our dogs here. Service is amazing. They love animals and take great care of there customers. When our dog recently pass away they went out of there way to take care of  him and us. Then they checked back with us a few weeks later to make sure we were doing ok. I don't give out five stars very often but in this case I truely believe they have 5 star service. It's a drive but seriously worth every mile. If your just getting a check-up I don't know if it's worth the drive but if your pet is truely sick definitely worth the drive. Read Less
