My family has been coming to LFAH since 1998 when we came to Colorado. With each dog we have owned and brought to them, they have been extremely kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They have developed a true bond with each dog we brought in (and we’ve brought 5 different dogs to their care over the years) and always checked up with the dogs, and even with the dog that wasn’t of concern at the time. Every person working here, from the receptionists to the vets, are always going the extra mile for our dogs. We cannot praise them enough for all of the hard work and time they have put into our animals.

Dr. Ami VanDeventer is a phenomenal vet. I have a great dog who was experiencing some behavioral challenges. She helped educate me on how to be a better owner for him and also gave me handouts and resources to understand how dogs communicate and how to make a better environment for my dog.
She spent an hour with me and discussed supplements, medications, and dogfood so I could make the best decisions for him. I’m happy to say he is doing great, and so am I!
I now use Louisville Animal hospital for all my dog care. They are friendly, EVERYONE is friendly front desk, vet techs, and vets.
I also like that they give you an estimate of everything before starting the treatment so there are no surprises.
I highly recommend this clinic!

We were referred here by our regular vet when our dog was injured by a coyote and they did not have a doctor available to treat him. Louisville Family Animal Hospital stepped up to the plate - they treated us like we were long time clients, worked us into the schedule, placed stitches in his leg and had him out in 6 hours. The staff was very courteous and cheerful and the doctor was helpful and informative. They followed up the next day to make sure he was doing OK. Everyone was so kind and considerate and very sweet with my dog. The clinic was clean and neat. If I didn't already love my vet offices, I would definitely be going here! Highly recommend.

This is the 3rd year that Louisville Family Animal Hospital has helped me to keep my "Furr Babies" healthy. Without your kindness and generosity it would be difficult for me to assure that my "Girls" receive the Vet care they need. I have requested your clinic the last 2 years that we have been involved. This June, my aging Doberman Zeus was on his last legs. Thursday I called to inquire about euthanasia, and cremation. I was quoted $317. I called another vet, got the same exact price, $317. Well, Zeus passed on Friday. I called this local vet Saturday morning to have him cremated. I was told it would cost $499. No office visit, no sedation, no euthanasia, just cremation. Predatory pricing! I will never take my business to this vet. Just thought our community should know. Shame on you Louisville family animal hospital!

11/19 I had to take my bulldog in for an eye problem and a few other issues. On the initial exam, the assistant was asking me about his medical background, some of which I knew and others I dint. When she kept pressing me on things I dint know so I referred her to his medical records since they were right in front of her. After Dr. Amy examined him, we came to the conclusion that he was fine on two of the three issues. His eye was my main focus. She suggested experimenting with some eye drops to see if this improves. I felt that she knew what she was doing and will follow their direction. 11/21 I received a follow up call from Dr. Collins regarding his eye. I implied nothing has improved and explained my frustrations by the amount of money I already spent. His suggesting is that its medicine and sometimes things don't work. So if you need to spend another 300 or 1000, it is what it is. This is totally unacceptable as I'm not in a position to pay for guess work. I said I would be going back to my original vet of Huron Animal Clinic where they have always got things correct the first time and without experimenting on my pocket book.

I have been taking my cat here for the past three years. Each and every staff member from the receptionists to the veterinarians are tremendously kind and caring! For scheduling purposes, we have not stuck to a single veterinarian, but have seen multiple. Each professional is knowledgable and willing to take time to answer any and all of my questions. We recently moved approximately 45 minutes away from this location, but it is worth the drive to continue to have my animals seen here!

VERY disappointed by this place.If your dog is perfectly behaved and not at all special needs and needs a rabies shot or something, this place is probably fine. However, they are not equipped to handle dogs who have any type of fear-based or behavioral issues. I have a large breed dog I adopted from the humane society that does not like going to the vet. A couple of months ago, he had stomach issues--wasn't eating for a week and didn't drink water for two days. I told them he had been chewing these rawhides and i thought maybe that was the issue. We saw Dr. Nicole. She sedated him, gave him ex-rays, subcutaneous fluids, blood tests, basically put him through hell and cost me 1500 dollars only to say, "I think it was the rawhides" when they found nothing wrong with him. I heard over and over again how aggressive and difficult my dog was (well of course he is, you're sticking needles in him and a team of people he doesn't know is holding him down), and it made me feel like I was a bad owner, like I had done something wrong. When they released him, I brought him home COVERED in bloody diarrhea because she said he was too aggressive to be bathed (could you not at least wipe him off?!) She seemed to not have a lot of practical experience with animals, merely had gone to a good school. I talked to two different vets at this clinic, who bascially told me completely different things. One of them even wanted to test him for some obscure disease. I feel like they should've observed him and tried less-invasive treatment, especially since he was so "aggressive and hard to work with" before doing all of that. But it wracked up a nice bill, didn't it? I was very disappointed by this experience and will NOT be bringing my dog back.

I (and my little kitten) love this place. Everybody here is friendly, professional, and definite pet lovers. They always have fun/cute pet stories to share and make our whole family (furry members, too) feel included and welcome. The doctors are honest and upfront about pet health and recommended treatments/immunizations/etc. They know what's best for your pet and will make sure they stay healthy and happy all year round. The online scheduling & pet portal service they offer is convenient and I love being able to email them if I have a question or need some follow up. On our last visit, Dr. VanDeventer gave me some great recommendations for new toys to try with our cat. She tends to be a little vicious with her toys and destroys them faster than we can buy them. It's nice to have a vet who cares about our family enough to send us personalized recommendations for new, more engaging, more durable toys. I would highly recommend Louisville Family Animal Hospital for anyone with a furry companion at home. Everyone who works here is wonderful and you surely won't be disappointed.

Dr. Ami is amazing. She spends more time with my problem child and I than any other doctor I have been to. My Frenchie has had every allergy, eye and ear issure you can think of. Ami V. has been Beaus biggest advocate in getting him on the meds he needs and making sure he is not affected by the backorder that kept coming with the new drug. Clean, and modern facility with all the high tech equiptment many hospitals/clinics lack.AAHA accredited which means they have high standards and must pass regular checks.All in all, I highly recommend this animal hospital and Ami as a primary Veterinarian.

I've been going to LFAH for probably about 3 years now with both of my little guys. It was typically just business as usual - shots, check ups, etc. They did just fine, I mean I really liked them, but it wasn't until we really needed a Vet's help recently that I found out how truly awesome they are. My dog was having troubles getting around resulting from another dog's attack in previous weeks, and not only did they get him in same day, but they helped him completely (better than the emergency hospital we had to take him in to on a Sunday), and called to check in every single day after, and then periodically even weeks later. They didn't just send us home with medicine and leave us on our own, they really cared about his well-being and followed up sincerely. Not only did they help my dog, but they really helped us feel comfortable with the situation and continuing to make sure our little guy was okay.
I really appreciate the staff there. You can tell that this is passion for them, and not a money making thing. Thank you for everything you do, LFAH, we can't imagine going anywhere else.

Cannot say enough about how great Dr. VanDeventer is!! If I wasn't so glad to have her taking care of my kitties, I would want her to switch over to humans and be my doctor. You can tell she truly cares for the health and well-being of your animal. I've really appreciated the time she has spent with to walk us through the health problems and issues my animals have gone through - she has gone above and beyond expectations. It is hard to place the trust and confidence of your animal's life in the hands of another, but I have that in Dr. Ami, and am glad she has charge of my loved ones.

Dr Barnes is very kind and compassionate and the front desk staff is also very good.I feel perfectly satisfied with the level of care. My only misgiving is the price of the prescriptions at the office. This seems to be a way that they add to their revenues. We had a very expensive surgery done on our dog, which I was ready to pay for, but did not feel really happy when I realized that the prescriptions could be bought at Costco or online for less. The staff was very nice when I contacted them, saying that because they did not know the quality of on line prescriptions they would match the prices I found elsewhere if I asked. While that was reasonable, they did not match retroactively and it made me feel sad thinking that I has spent more than I would have had to.

I took my dog and 2 cats here for several years. They always fit us in when there was an emergency or an urgent issue. It was very reassuring to be able to take them in to see their own vet and know that the best care possible was being provided.The office is super clean and the staff are fantastic. Unfortunately, we moved out of state and have had to find a new vet. It has truly been impossible to find the same quality of care and compassion in a vet's office. For those that are local, they are fantastic. If I move back to the area, I will return without any hesitation.

We took our beloved 11-year old cat here because he had diarrhea.
Their recommended exams some of which seemed entirely gratuitous totaled $600+
We wound up asking for a less comprehensive set of exams (adequate for what was ailing him and skipping the "let's test for this too" category) and were promptly billed for $400+ OK, fine, we want our kitty healthy.
"Bring him back tomorrow for urine and feces samples" we did. They found a urinary infection and 2 types of parasites. "He'll have to take an antibiotic + 2 anti-parasitics" fine. "If you want we can give him an injected antibiotic and you'll just have to give him the antiparasitics" Sounded good; anyone who's tried to fed medicines to a cat knows it's no fun. We picked him up an were charged an additional $130
We get home and decide to ask WHICH antibiotic they had administered. It turned out to be "convenia" which we later found out is primarily used for skin infections (??) and has proven fatal for many pets. Needless to say we were given zero warning of potential danger from this injection.
Our cat is clearly feeling/acting sicker then when we took him in.
We are hoping and praying he will pull through.

Just moved here from out of town and was looking for a vet that truly cared about my dog. I was SO impressed with LFAH! They were timely, compassionate and very much wanting to explain or have me ask any questions I possibly could have. My dog had dental surgery and I was soooo nervous. Dr. Ashley Barnes was absolutely wonderful. If you have to go to a doc there, I highly recommend her. :)The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the price. Compared to my old vet this place is a LOT more expensive. Thankfully he won't have dental surgery again and he only needs to go to the vet once a year. Highly recommend Louisville Family Animal Hospital!!

My family has been coming to LFAH since 1998 when we came to Colorado. With each dog we have owned and brought to them, they have been extremely kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They have developed a true bond with each dog we brought in (and we’ve brought 5 different dogs to their care over the years) and always checked up with the dogs, and even with the dog that wasn’t of concern at the time. Every person working here, from the receptionists to the vets, are always going the extra mile for our dogs. We cannot praise them enough for all of the hard work and time they have put into our animals.

Dr. Ami VanDeventer is a phenomenal vet. I have a great dog who was experiencing some behavioral challenges. She helped educate me on how to be a better owner for him and also gave me handouts and resources to understand how dogs communicate and how to make a better environment for my dog.
She spent an hour with me and discussed supplements, medications, and dogfood so I could make the best decisions for him. I’m happy to say he is doing great, and so am I!
I now use Louisville Animal hospital for all my dog care. They are friendly, EVERYONE is friendly front desk, vet techs, and vets.
I also like that they give you an estimate of everything before starting the treatment so there are no surprises.
I highly recommend this clinic!

We were referred here by our regular vet when our dog was injured by a coyote and they did not have a doctor available to treat him. Louisville Family Animal Hospital stepped up to the plate - they treated us like we were long time clients, worked us into the schedule, placed stitches in his leg and had him out in 6 hours. The staff was very courteous and cheerful and the doctor was helpful and informative. They followed up the next day to make sure he was doing OK. Everyone was so kind and considerate and very sweet with my dog. The clinic was clean and neat. If I didn't already love my vet offices, I would definitely be going here! Highly recommend.

This June, my aging Doberman Zeus was on his last legs. Thursday I called to inquire about euthanasia, and cremation. I was quoted $317. I called another vet, got the same exact price, $317. Well, Zeus passed on Friday. I called this local vet Saturday morning to have him cremated. I was told it would cost $499. No office visit, no sedation, no euthanasia, just cremation. Predatory pricing! I will never take my business to this vet. Just thought our community should know. Shame on you Louisville family animal hospital!

11/19 I had to take my bulldog in for an eye problem and a few other issues. On the initial exam, the assistant was asking me about his medical background, some of which I knew and others I dint. When she kept pressing me on things I dint know so I referred her to his medical records since they were right in front of her. After Dr. Amy examined him, we came to the conclusion that he was fine on two of the three issues. His eye was my main focus. She suggested experimenting with some eye drops to see if this improves. I felt that she knew what she was doing and will follow their direction. 11/21 I received a follow up call from Dr. Collins regarding his eye. I implied nothing has improved and explained my frustrations by the amount of money I already spent. His suggesting is that its medicine and sometimes things don't work. So if you need to spend another 300 or 1000, it is what it is. This is totally unacceptable as I'm not in a position to pay for guess work. I said I would be going back to my original vet of Huron Animal Clinic where they have always got things correct the first time and without experimenting on my pocket book.

I have been taking my cat here for the past three years. Each and every staff member from the receptionists to the veterinarians are tremendously kind and caring! For scheduling purposes, we have not stuck to a single veterinarian, but have seen multiple. Each professional is knowledgable and willing to take time to answer any and all of my questions. VERY disappointed by this place.If your dog is perfectly behaved and not at all special needs and needs a rabies shot or something, this place is probably fine. However, they are not equipped to handle dogs who have any type of fear-based or behavioral issues. I have a large breed dog I adopted from the humane society that does not like going to the vet. A couple of months ago, he had stomach issues--wasn't eating for a week and didn't drink water for two days. I told them he had been chewing these rawhides and i thought maybe that was the issue. We saw Dr. Nicole. She sedated him, gave him ex-rays, subcutaneous fluids, blood tests, basically put him through hell and cost me 1500 dollars only to say, "I think it was the rawhides" when they found nothing wrong with him. I heard over and over again how aggressive and difficult my dog was (well of course he is, you're sticking needles in him and a team of people he doesn't know is holding him down), and it made me feel like I was a bad owner, like I had done something wrong. When they released him, I brought him home COVERED in bloody diarrhea because she said he was too aggressive to be bathed (could you not at least wipe him off?!) She seemed to not have a lot of practical experience with animals, merely had gone to a good school. I talked to two different vets at this clinic, who bascially told me completely different things. One of them even wanted to test him for some obscure disease. I feel like they should've observed him and tried less-invasive treatment, especially since he was so "aggressive and hard to work with" before doing all of that. But it wracked up a nice bill, didn't it? I was very disappointed by this experience and will NOT be bringing my dog back.

I heard over and over again how aggressive and difficult my dog was (well of course he is, you're sticking needles in him and a team of people he doesn't know is holding him down), and it made me feel like I was a bad owner, like I had done something wrong. When they released him, I brought him home COVERED in bloody diarrhea because she said he was too aggressive to be bathed (could you not at least wipe him off?!) She seemed to not have a lot of practical experience with animals, merely had gone to a good school. I talked to two different vets at this clinic, who bascially told me completely different things. One of them even wanted to test him for some obscure disease. I feel like they should've observed him and tried less-invasive treatment, especially since he was so "aggressive and hard to work with" before doing all of that. But it wracked up a nice bill, didn't it? I was very disappointed by this experience and will NOT be bringing my dog back.

I (and my little kitten) love this place. Everybody here is friendly, professional, and definite pet lovers. They always have fun/cute pet stories to share and make our whole family (furry members, too) feel included and welcome. The doctors are honest and upfront about pet health and recommended treatments/immunizations/etc. They know what's best for your pet and will make sure they stay healthy and happy all year round. The online scheduling & pet portal service they offer is convenient and I love being able to email them if I have a question or need some follow up. On our last visit, Dr. VanDeventer gave me some great recommendations for new toys to try with our cat. She tends to be a little vicious with her toys and destroys them faster than we can buy them. It's nice to have a vet who cares about our family enough to send us personalized recommendations for new, more engaging, more durable toys. I would highly recommend Louisville Family Animal Hospital for anyone with a furry companion at home. Everyone who works here is wonderful and you surely won't be disappointed.

Dr. Ami is amazing. She spends more time with my problem child and I than any other doctor I have been to. My Frenchie has had every allergy, eye and ear issure you can think of. Ami V. has been Beaus biggest advocate in getting him on the meds he needs and making sure he is not affected by the backorder that kept coming with the new drug. Clean, and modern facility with all the high tech equiptment many hospitals/clinics lack.AAHA accredited which means they have high standards and must pass regular checks.All in all, I highly recommend this animal hospital and Ami as a primary Veterinarian.

I've been going to LFAH for probably about 3 years now with both of my little guys. It was typically just business as usual - shots, check ups, etc. They did just fine, I mean I really liked them, but it wasn't until we really needed a Vet's help recently that I found out how truly awesome they are. My dog was having troubles getting around resulting from another dog's attack in previous weeks, and not only did they get him in same day, but they helped him completely (better than the emergency hospital we had to take him in to on a Sunday), and called to check in every single day after, and then periodically even weeks later. They didn't just send us home with medicine and leave us on our own, they really cared about his well-being and followed up sincerely. Not only did they help my dog, but they really helped us feel comfortable with the situation and continuing to make sure our little guy was okay.
I really appreciate the staff there. You can tell that this is passion for them, and not a money making thing. Thank you for everything you do, LFAH, we can't imagine going anywhere else.

Cannot say enough about how great Dr. VanDeventer is!! If I wasn't so glad to have her taking care of my kitties, I would want her to switch over to humans and be my doctor. You can tell she truly cares for the health and well-being of your animal. I've really appreciated the time she has spent with to walk us through the health problems and issues my animals have gone through - she has gone above and beyond expectations. It is hard to place the trust and confidence of your animal's life in the hands of another, but I have that in Dr. Ami, and am glad she has charge of my loved ones.

I was thrilled to move to Louisville and have a nearby vet to go to. Dr Barnes is very kind and compassionate and the front desk staff is also very good.I feel perfectly satisfied with the level of care. My only misgiving is the price of the prescriptions at the office. This seems to be a way that they add to their revenues. We had a very expensive surgery done on our dog, which I was ready to pay for, but did not feel really happy when I realized that the prescriptions could be bought at Costco or online for less. The staff was very nice when I contacted them, saying that because they did not know the quality of on line prescriptions they would match the prices I found elsewhere if I asked. While that was reasonable, they did not match retroactively and it made me feel sad thinking that I has spent more than I would have had to.

I took my dog and 2 cats here for several years. They always fit us in when there was an emergency or an urgent issue. It was very reassuring to be able to take them in to see their own vet and know that the best care possible was being provided.The office is super clean and the staff are fantastic. Unfortunately, we moved out of state and have had to find a new vet. It has truly been impossible to find the same quality of care and compassion in a vet's office. For those that are local, they are fantastic. If I move back to the area, I will return without any hesitation.

We took our beloved 11-year old cat here because he had diarrhea.
Their recommended exams some of which seemed entirely gratuitous totaled $600+
We wound up asking for a less comprehensive set of exams (adequate for what was ailing him and skipping the "let's test for this too" category) and were promptly billed for $400+ OK, fine, we want our kitty healthy.
"Bring him back tomorrow for urine and feces samples" we did. They found a urinary infection and 2 types of parasites. "He'll have to take an antibiotic + 2 anti-parasitics" fine. "If you want we can give him an injected antibiotic and you'll just have to give him the antiparasitics" Sounded good; anyone who's tried to fed medicines to a cat knows it's no fun. We picked him up an were charged an additional $130
We get home and decide to ask WHICH antibiotic they had administered. It turned out to be "convenia" which we later found out is primarily used for skin infections (??) and has proven fatal for many pets. Needless to say we were given zero warning of potential danger from this injection.
Our cat is clearly feeling/acting sicker then when we took him in.
We are hoping and praying he will pull through.

Just moved here from out of town and was looking for a vet that truly cared about my dog. I was SO impressed with LFAH! They were timely, compassionate and very much wanting to explain or have me ask any questions I possibly could have. My dog had dental surgery and I was soooo nervous. Dr. Ashley Barnes was absolutely wonderful. If you have to go to a doc there, I highly recommend her. :)The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the price. Compared to my old vet this place is a LOT more expensive. Thankfully he won't have dental surgery again and he only needs to go to the vet once a year. Highly recommend Louisville Family Animal Hospital!!
