This vet takes care of my chickens if they have issues. She has saved 2 of my birds the last 3 years from being egg bound. She is intelligent and will explain things as she does them. Yes the vets office is expensive, but not any more so than any other vet in the area who takes care of exotics. I like that they will give me prices on procedures before doing them. Also usually able to get animals in quickly. Which is still cheaper than going to emergency vet clinics! Read Less

Do NOT take your birds here! I brought my Green Cheek Conure in because I was worried she was egg bound (she was showing all of the symptoms I had googled, and I let the vet know. The vet examined her and suggested we do an ultrasound to check for an egg or other issues, and blood work. I couldn't afford the astronomical price to do both so we just did the ultrasound. She said that my bird had a fluid filled pocket and that it was likely a severe uterine infection. She said it wasn't an egg because of the shape and lack of lines, whatever that means. We left with a $200.00 bill and antibiotics. Three days later my bird... laid an egg. If a bird vet couldn't see a perfectly formed egg on an ultrasound, they shouldn't be a vet. Not worth losing money and risking the life of your bird. I'm just grateful that my bird passed the egg herself and that I didn't lose her. When I called the vet to tell them what had happened they were extremely rude and starting denying things and lying about the appointment. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMALS. Read Less

This is definitely a vet that asks that you buy extra tests that are unnecessary and then act like you're being irresponsible because you can't afford an extra 800$. My lizard had some dead skin, and they wanted to get a blood test and xrays. Now the blood test makes little sense, as they wanted to check to see if he had an infection, though he showed zero infection symtpoms. The xray however, made no sense at all. It wasn't needed, he never hurt his tail bone, or any bone in his entire life, and the neurotic end of his tail was to be removed anyway. They then charged me for the visit, anesthesia, medication (not needed, but "it's best in case he gets an infection" an extra couple hundred there), then one stitch, wrapping, and some extra things on the bill that weren't explained nor really needed to be charged (such as an extra needle if the first one broke). Most of these made sense, but then they would throw every little thing at you to squeeze more money out. The only thing they didn't charge me for was their gas to get to work. They then requested I come in for a check up and to remove the stitch. When I come in the recommended 10 days later, they charge me again, because for some reason it wasn't included. They didn't take his one stitch out, and charged me 55$ and tried to charge me another 50$ for wrapping it again. I had been wrapping it myself since he got the stitch and they wanted me to pay even more, so I declined. They then asked me to come in AGAIN, pay 55$ AGAIN, and then charge me 100$ to take the one stitch out and wrap it. Obviously I haven't gone back. The only reason I would ever come here again is if there was an emergency, as they are the closest vet to my house. I do believe they care about animals, but their main goal is to charge you for every little thing, make sure you have to come back for checkups that aren't included in the original price, and run expensive tests where they don't tell you the price beforehand unless you ask. This should have been and would have been 200$ anywhere else, but we ended up paying hundreds more. Save yourself some time, money, and headache and go somewhere else, exotic or not. Read Less

I started bringing my pets here 4 months ago after I took over care of a Red Eared Slider who had severe shell rot and was emaciated and I needed a vet who specializes in reptiles too. His shell has finally healed but is severely deformed, thankfully we got to him just in time to save his life!! After I realized how awesome they where with my turtle I started bring by geriatric pit bull to them as well, who I've been battling with her bad food allergies and reoccurring cancer for a few years now. Her last vet just wasn't educated enough with food allergies for me to keep taking here there. Yesterday they had to remove a mass on her belly that formed under the same spot her last skin cancer removal had been done, plus another potential skin cancer mass from her flank. Thank you so much Dr Chappal and team for helping me get Toxie rehabilitated, for helping me get Puka's food allergies under control, as well as for making her a priority to get that potential cancer removed ASAP! I had a very poor experience with Aspenwing. We called last weekend to schedule an appointment for a chicken with an impacted crop and were told that the procedure to remove the blockage was 26$. We scheduled the appointment and to our surprise were charged $66 for the visit and given an estimate of several hundred dollars to do what they'd said over the phone. It was a supreme waste of everyone's time, but that was not enough. The vet was condescending and rude and turned the whole experience into a guilt trip, saying that we would have to figure out a way to euthanize her if we couldn't resolve it ourselves in a couple of days, telling us 'well to some people chickens are like pets,' and many other things to imply that if we really cared about her we would go down a path of at least $300 - she wanted to add an X-ray on top of that too. Unfortunately it's not something we can afford, and there's not a lot worse than being made to feel like a cruel and inhumane person for not opening our wallet with money we can't spare. If they had been upfront when we first called we would not have gone - they got an extra $40 out of us but we won't be duped again and neither should you. Read Less

I just got my chinchilla Ferra a month ago. She had had ringworm before I got her and due to the medication and poor handling before I got her, she is frightened with some people and her fur was nasty. Once I got her I knew I had to get her healthy, but do to her past illness a new one presented itself, a day ago a noticed her ear was bright red and hot. I knew it wasn't heat stroke because we keep her in a well cooled room, so I called Aspen and them were able to work with my work schedule to get me in to see the doctor that day. The doctor told me a little more about how to take care of my baby girl and also said she looked very well considering her past! Now Ferra is on some meds (which she takes like a champ so I dont have to stress her out) and well on her way of recovering! I already recommended Aspen wing to my sister who owns two chinchillas! If they had been upfront when we first called we would not have gone - they got an extra $40 out of us but we won't be duped again and neither should you. Read Less

I had a very poor experience with Aspenwing. We called last weekend to schedule an appointment for a chicken with an impacted crop and were told that the procedure to remove the blockage was $26. THANKS GUYS!Read Less

I have had both my birds in to see Dr. Chappell for last minute emergencies. She's been wonderful with both of them, making sure they received immediate care and plenty of follow-up. She performed surgery on one of my birds and clearly explained the process beforehand and did a wonderful job with the surgery. I trust her completely with my pets. I even ran late once due to having an accident on the way there and they waited for me with smiling faces. Read Less
