We have been with Aspen Ridge Equine since their inseption, and there is NO other veterinary practice we trust our horses to in critical situations!! I have been to Littleton Large Animal Clinic and CSU, but will always choose Aspen Ridge, unless there is a situation they refer out. We have had everything from "dummy foals", to lame horses, to broodmares, to geriatric mares, to a mare 7 months in foal with a severe colic that needed surgery. The mare that was 7months in foal, not only needed a colic surgery, but a surgery to untwist her uterus. She not only came through with flying colors, but the foal made it as well. A true miracle, thus the foal's name, Shining Lil Milagro. Milagro is Spanish for miracle. I just can't give enough praises to Aspen Ridge Equine and their staff. Everything is explained in great detail & my input as a horse owner is greatly respected. I'm also grateful that as a horse owner & established client, if there is a question or minor issue, I can call and get advice over the phone without having to haul my horses in for every little issue. I HIGHLY recommend them!!

Dr. Woodall has been our primary equine veterinarian since 1993. He has performed routine care, surgeries to include colic surgeries, lameness exams and other diagnostics, and treated illnesses. He is thorough and explains things in detail, answering all questions I have and discusses all options. He will refer cases to the proper providers if it is something out of the scope of his expertise and will consult with specialists as needed.

Brief response to reviews last two reviews: Chandra: It was never my intent to anger you in my comments about how these two horses were not a good match for you. When I first arrived your husband could not figure out how to put the halter on and you both stated how you, Chandra, had been dumped by your horse twice in the preceding week. These observations taken into account when your horses both freaked out when my assistant or I tried to do ANYTHING with them made me feel like you and your husband might enjoy the love of horses with ones other than those. Best of luck with them both in the future. Albert: A couple of comments about your review. First, sedation to clean sheaths is not done just for fractious animals. It is done to prevent the retraction of the penis through an involuntary process in response to pain when smegma is peeled off the shaft of the penis or a large bean is dug out of the periurethral orifice. The process, done properly, can be quite uncomfortable. Think about it. Secondly, I looked back at the records to refresh my memory of this service and see it was done in 2006. Not very timely. In addition, your barn is or was a boarding facility about a quarter of mile from Chandra (acknowledged above). Hmmm.

If Chuck Woodall was the only vet within a 500 mile radius I still wouldn't use him. He sedated the oldest, calmest, most bombproof horse I have ever seen in my life to CLEAN HIS SHEATH! It is my opinion that he does whatever he can to pad the bill.

Had this vet out to my place 1 year ago specifically to check my horses' teeth. He told us there were no problems and we just had bought bad hay. He had checked our horses out out a few months earlier for the previous owner before he sold them to us. Because of this the vet proceeded to lecture us about how we were too green for these horses and we were going to get ourselves hurt. Kind of humiliating and I was shaking so bad when I wrote the check for absolutely nothing I was so mad. Our 2 mares are the best horses and have never been a problem after being tuned up and I'm glad I didn't listen to him. We just had a equine dentist out to float our new horse's teeth because the seller told us that his teeth needed attention. He was so appalled at the condition of our mares teeth he couldn't believe it and said this did not develop in a years time. Their teeth will require 2 visits to get under control. Not impressed at all. The dentist said their behavior when riding should be much improved and they're already good girls, just a little bit prone to head shaking and nervous under saddle. But nothing terrible. I can't wait to see the improvement just wish I didn't have to wait a year to figure it out. Had this vet not told us we were all but crazy we would have asked our new, more polite vet to look in their mouths this spring when the got their vaccinations. Live and learn. Fortunately we caught it in time before they started losing weight. The dentist said it would probably been a few months before my mare couldn't even eat.

We have been with Aspen Ridge Equine since their inseption, and there is NO other veterinary practice we trust our horses to in critical situations!!
