I took my cat here after our normal vet wanted an insane amount of money to do a check up and an ultrasound. This Vet not only took amazing care of my cat but his first visit was free and the ultrasound was 1/3 of the cost of what my old vet was wanting. This vet took the time to explain everything to me, gave me options on a prescription food and explained the differences to me AND followed up the next morning to make sure my cat was feeling better! BONUS - my cat matched the cat on their picture which was cool and fun. We will definitely be using them from now on. Avoid this vet!! This place used to be run by Sandy Eckles who was absolutely phenomenal. Now it is run by Dr Spairo (not sure on the spelling) but he is terrible. I had an appointment on Friday 4/20 to get my yellow Labrador’s anal sacks drained, which is normally an in and out appointment and costs $19 and sometimes the techs can even do it. This time when I got in there I mentioned that I was going to need to buy some eye drops because something blew in her eye with all the crazy wind recently and I could tell it was irritated. Again all I needed was some drops. Nope. They put me back in an exam room. My mom was accompanying me as I just had foot surgery on Tuesday so she was helping out. We wait for the doctor. He comes in, is rude and not even paying attention, typing on his computer before he even asks why we are there. He sees blood on the floor so he is squirting that down, not from my dog. Then is is picking up fur balls on the ground and throwing them away. The room was disgustingly filthy. He asks about the eye and he says he thinks it might be allergies but also needs to find the scratch in the eye. No bed side manners and he is digging with a Q-tip in my dogs eye, trying to find this scratch. Oh not to mention my mom is 6 weeks out from an arm surgery and he is making her hold the dog and yelling at my mom for letting go. The way he was digging in my babies eye was heart breaking and the fact he is having my mom hold her is even worse. Hello, get one of your techs to assist. Anyways he can’t find the scratch so then he uses a dye method and digs around some more. He was not gentle, it was awful. Then it comes times for the draining of her anal sacks. At this point I am beyond frustrated but he needs me to hold her. Again I just had foot surgery 3 days ago. So I stand up and bend over and hold her. He was rough and didn’t even properly clean the area and do the procedure. We’ve had this procedure done lots of places so I know how it is supposed to go. Then he doesn’t he tell me he is done so I’m still standing there holding her. Now it’s time to discuss the “diagnosis” of the eye issue. He says he thinks it might be allergies because he couldn’t see a scratch. I know it’s not allergies, she is 7 Years old and has never had an issue. He was going to prescribe some drops but then I should go to the store and get some Visine drops with an antihistamine or I could get an over the counter antihistamine. In my head I’m thinking if I treat for both allergies and a scratch how would I know which one caused the eye irritation. He also advises that Visine drops can have lots of other things and can irritate dogs eyes... umm hello then why are you suggesting these to me!! I go to check out and I get a bill for $103! Anal sacks would’ve been $19 and the drops would’ve been $17. If only they would’ve listened and gave those to me up front like I had asked then I wouldn’t be robbed out of my money and my dog wouldn’t of been tortured. Great news is I did not get other drops or an antihistamine and she cleared up in 24 hours with the drops that I originally requested. Long story short this place is all about the dollar and they do not care about your pet. Please avoid. We will not be going back there EVER and we will gladly be finding a new Vet that actually cares about animals. Read Less

Received top notch care here for reasonable prices, which is hard to find in this area. One of our dogs had to have his teeth cleaned with possible extractions. We were quoted anywhere from $800 to $2000 at a nearby veterinarian clinic. Ended up paying around $400 and that included prescriptions for antibiotics and pain afterwards. And we were very satisfied with the the care before, during and after the surgery. So glad we found this place! Read Less

Dr Spiro and his staff are great. I had an emergency and pretty much no one from south Denver to Franktown was able to assist, besides a VERY expensive emergency center. Called Cottage, very friendly staff asked the Dr directly my questions and was very honest. Was able to get my dog in at 5:30pm, and after working all day he asked if my dog was in pain and needed the surgery right away or could wait until morning. I really believe he would have done the surgery that night if it was needed, but he left it up to me. We brought him back in the morning and, again, the staff was excellent. Picked my pup up later in the day and he was already looking better. Great staff, very reasonable prices (best i could find) and a great experience. My dog, my family and i thank you so much. We went in for an exam on my 3 dogs and he was great with my chihuahua who is very nervous and fearful. He answered ALL of the questions that I had and was very honest with what he thought was the best route for us. (we talked about lumps and bumps on my old girl and those pesky knee caps on the chihuahua) We had our dental appointment set up for a week later and they did an amazing job on my 5lb chi and 12yr old corgi. This is huge for me as I get really anxious about putting my critters under anesthesia due to weight and due to age. VERY fair pricing and a lot of options too that put my mind at ease. I would recommend Dr Spiro to everyone I come across needing a vet. If you want to get good service and a knowledgeable vet you need to see Dr Spiro. He spends the time in the room with you to answer all your questions. He saved my cats life when he had very bad kidney failure and was in a lot of pain. If any of you take your animals to Cottage Vet in old town Parker I urge you to STOP!  A new vet has taken over the practice and he is AWFUL. Matthew Spiro. I had the worst experience with him today treating my dog. Animal cruelty comes to mind. I was horrified at how he treated my injured dog and appalled at his attitude and lack of professionalism toward me. It used to be such a warm and loving place for my pups, clearly not the case now. It's evident to me why all of the office staff is gone. To top things off, when I called after the appointment to express my concerns the girl I spoke with at the front desk told me she doesn't agree with some of the things he does and how he treats the animals and she works for him!!!! Took my Boo Kitty in today and the new doctor, Matthew Spiro was so kind and personable and treated my 14 year old with a UTI blockage with respect. Explained disease, explained procedure and quoted me a very reasonable cost.....The staff was great, too. Very friendly to me. We have been going to Cottage Vet for 15 plus years. Our experience has always been positive and a true compassion for our pets has been the norm. At present we have a pug that has degenerative back issues. We called at 10:00 last Saturday morning and were given an 11:00 appointment. They didn't want her to have a bad weekend. We went to a different vet in Aurora which was closer to our house. We went about 3 times and decided it was time to go back to Cottage. We will stay with them for as long as we have dogs.Read Less

I would take my dogs to no other vet! They saved our lab mix Winnie many years ago from a death sentence from another vet. With their advice and care she gave us nearly 3 more years of love. We have taken all of our animals to them ever since and we are treated as members of the family, just like they treat our animals. We recommend them to every one we meet! Read Less

I found the receptionist to be rude and cold when I called to ask for assistance when I had to put my dogs down. She hung up on me. My vet was in Colorado Springs and I needed a local vet to help me in my darkest time of need with my 16 and 17 year old dogs. Felt judged, my 13yr old golden is dying and brought her in and instead wanted to do 400 worth of tests. The Dr left and sent in a tech with a list of options. I left feeling horrible with my golden in high respiratory distress and pain. Not helpful at all and the place smells horrible, staff not professional.Read Less
