I have a handful of pets and I would never take any of them here for any reason. That's because I care about my animals and I wish them treatment by like-minded individuals, which these are not. I always heard bad stories about Hilltop but they were able to see my dog sooner than the other places. Now I wish I never went. Hilltop is basically just a poorly run money scheme. They don't know what they're doing. And they will do tests and stuff with your pet without your permission then hand you an expensive bill when you go. I would like to say how truly dissatisfied I am with the Vets and some of the staff at Hilltop.  I brought my injured cat in to be seen.  My cat had a small cut on his front leg, maybe about an inch long.  His arm was shaved and he was given antibiotics. The price they charge for medication is extremely ridiculous. $ 50 for a shot of antibiotics?? 2 pain pills was another $21. I brought him back a week later for his follow-up. We waited and hour and a half before even going back to a room.  While waiting for to be seen a lady with a large dog walked in for her appointment, a dog from the waiting room jumped up and at this lady's dog and the the very rude receptionist told the lady she was 20 minutes early for her appointment and she could wait outside.  Still waiting to be seen a gentleman came in to purchase a one month supply of medication for his dogs.  The same rude receptionist told him they only sold the medication in a 6 month supply. He told her his former vet sold them in 1 month supply.  She was unprofessional and told him thats not how they do it at this office. Finally we were called back and saw the vet.  At this point the vet was worried about my cats ligaments drying up and getting damaged. My cat had also licked his wound so much that the once 1 inch cut was now about 4 inches long.  His recommendation was to wrap the leg.  I don't know why the vet did not wrap his leg to begin with and save us so much trouble. At his next follow-up apointment and another hour amd a half long wait, my cats leg looked mutilated. We saw the other Vet ( Dr. Wilson) at this appointment and she pushed for x-rays to check to see if his arm was broke( it was obvious it was not broke.$175 for stays and $85 for sedation.) She also wanted to do a culture to check for abscess in the leg. That would have been another $80. After I declined she then stated it was normal for injuries to abcess. At our next follow up the same vet we saw the week before was now stating my cats leg was so bad that amputation was recommended. We decided it was time for a second opionion.  My regret was not going to another vet after my first bad experiance here.  Thankfully we went to a different vets office. It was a good 6 week long process, but my cat is healed up and has all 4 legs. Read Less

At first glance the staff appeared nice. I took my dog there three times, and the third time I walked away with a $250 bill and some medicine. When I got home I realized one bottle of medicine was missing over 20 pills. I called them to get this fixed however they didn’t return my call until the next day (Saturday) during closed business hours. They left me a message on my phone assuring that they didn’t make a mistake, and that I was the one counting wrong. They offered me no solution for this problem, and no way of getting in contact with them until Monday morning so my pup had to go the weekend without medicine. Read Less

Dr. Crook and staff are wonderful. They worked and worked with us trying to get elderly Beagle's blood sugar under control, so she could have surgery to remove a mammary tumor and several other growths on her. The tumors were something she had several surgeries for in the past and we wanted to let her have one more surgery and stop after that. Unfortunately, she went into acute kidney failure and we had to make the choice to let her go before she had surgery. My Husband knew it was time but I was scared she could maybe be treated and get better. Dr. Crook assured me we were doing the correct thing for our dog. They were very gentle with her and it was peaceful. We got a sympathy cards from them and her ashes were back in a timely manner. My Husband is a travel nurse and unfortunately we will be leaving for a while. We will be back and I fully plan on using Hilltop again. They even gave us extra scripts, she takes daily, for our other pup until we can find a vet where we are going. I have never had a more caring and loving veterinarian and staff take care of my pets. The second we walk through the door we are treated like family. Even offered coffee, water etc. They go well above and beyond what would be expected from a vet clinic. My Boxer Nala is in love with Dr Crook and Angela(staff). When I mention Dr Crook's name, she gets so excited and practically drags me to the clinic door once we arrive! He also saved my cat "Mo Mo's" life after he required emergency surgery. We weren't sure he would make it through the surgery. It was touch and go. We have been blessed to have such a wonderful Doctor and staff. I hope they stay here for a very LONG time!!! Read Less

The waiting room was extremely crowded which I thought might be a good sign due to the amount of people wanting their pets cared for. My dog and I were offered tea/water by the staff and they seemed polite, though they weren't very proactive in maintaining a safer waiting environment. There were too many animals and not enough space, I ended waiting up 40 more minutes before they finally saw my dog. I was there intially for his check-up and decided to up-date his shots while there. I asked for the price and they gave me a look like "You are suppose to want to the best for your dog, the price shouldn't matter." They were extremely evasive about the pricing saying that it wouldn't be much. I ended up with a nearly $80 bill, which, to my way of thinking was rather pricey considering that when they gave him his shot, they didn't hold him well and half the medicine was squeezed out over his back. I haven't posted yet to share my thoughts about hilltop petclininc. I have been taking my dogs here for over 3 years. My doggies love the staff and it's very comforting to see the staff call them by their names and give them hugs. My dogs are always at ease in the room and the staff always spend a few minutes with them before starting medical attention to put them at ease. I took my fiancee's cat to this vet on 10/6/17. I told the vet that the cat had kidney failure which was diagnosed approx 1 year ago. After test the vet told us her kidney level was slightly high and she had bacteria in her urine. I stated that my fiance was pregnant and asked if having the cat could be bad for her. Her response was "by law i can only comment on the cat." Vet even told me she wouldn't put the cat down even if I requested it. The vet had absolutely no concern about a human child growing just the cat. This vet and this office is GARBAGE. Read Less

This was one of the best experience I ever had at a Vet's clinic. They were open on Saturday and squeezed my Leo in. My Frenchy was weezing to the point where his snout and tongue were turning gray. The minute we walked in, the assistant scooped Leo up and took him to the back to put him on oxygen. Not worrying about paperwork. Dr. Crook was very personable and knew exactly what to do. Words cannot express the genuine heartfelt warmth, care and professionalism I received from Dr. Crook and his staff today. I had to go through, for the first time, today making one of the most difficult decision of putting my beloved Dakota to sleep forever. This Dr. and his staff are the most outstanding group of people I have ever come into contact with regards to a Veterinarian clinic. I was able to say good-bye to Dakota and be by her side talking with her and loving on her as she went to sleep. My aging guinea pig was getting sick. I called everywhere in Pueblo and surrounding areas. No vet in this area would see him. but Dr. Crook did. In less then a week he was back to his old self. Unfortunately Jasper did die, but I had him for 2 months and he didn't suffer.My "free" dog has had many problems.  Dr. Crook has fixed those problems and now she is a very happy dog that doesn't have to be a puppy mill breeder dog anymore.  I would recommend Hilltop Pet Clinic to everyone.  Quality pet care and a friendly atmosphere. Searched for small animal vets online and came up with a vet up north.. called and they said our hamster needed to be seen asap and suggested I call PetSmart and ask them who they vet with brilliant! I called and unfortunately they told me they use hilltop pet clinic.. optimistic they might be able to help I called and was told I could bring in our poor Perseus in three days from time of the emergency.. needless to say he didn't make it through the hour. I am not blaming them for the death of my animal. However,Through my experience I would never recommend ANYONE actually count on this clinic for help. I'll tell anyone I ever talk about vets with to heavily consider somewhere else that has compassion and is willing to help in an emergency... not just count down the last hour of their work day. This veterinarian denied my dog care stating they're not equipped for emergencies yet they advertise emergency services. This happened during routine business hours. They said they'd contact an emergency vet on our behalf and we were told the emergency vet was waiting for us. We went the emergency vet and no one was there because they were closed. We had to scramble to find a vet to treat our dog. This veterinarian is unethical and I wouldn't trust him to do anything for any of my animals, including euthanasia. Read Less

I have to say I've had more visits to Hilltop than I would prefer, due to an aging dog. Every time I am greeted by name with a warm smile. They have expanded their hours, which is a tremendous help for me as a commuter. They have brought on more staff and another doctor and are looking to expand services provided that are unavailable in the area now. I absolutely love my vet! He has been so awesome with my dogs and my puppy Hank. I can tell he truly cares and loves my dogs. Plus, he is not very expensive. I had a $20 vet follow up with Hank. a very affordable place to get your pets health checked. I've taken both my dogs here throughout the years and the vets have always been very friendly and patient with my anxious pups. I have never had to wait more than five minutes to be seen. last time I took my puppy in for a skin scraping, the vet even brought me to view under the microscope what was going on. they honestly care about your pets health and try not to push extra charges on you, they also communicate everything so you're not sitting in the dark on your pets diagnosis.
